Hello All!
I was trying to flash bhundven's Blastoff Kernel. For some reason it caused system wide force closes.
I'm really not that worried about it, I was just playing around, but what I'm mainly interested in is the bootanimation that the kernel put on my phone.
It actually had two. The first was this sweet team acid logo, followed by the rom installed unicorn (I'm on Valhalla Final).
Does anybody know....
A. How could I obtain that team acid bootanimation?, and
B. How could I place the obtained bootanimation in front of my current one so I could have both?
I currently am using a cool green bios bootanimation I found in the forums.
Thanks All!
Matt

when i have access to the pc, i'll provide a link to the bootanimation that i also made.
edit: link for the bootanimation is here providing this is the right one you wanted. just push to system/media. this is also providing you are on a kernel that supports custom bootanimations now.

That was the image I was looking for. However what I'm trying to do is put the team acid part of the bootanimation(part 0) in front of my bootanimation I'm currently using.
Is that possible? I'm sure it is just a matter of editing the text file that comes in the boot animation zip, I just don't know how to do it.....

thanks coop your the man! I read a thread on boot and shutdown animations but I just couldn't get it...and I have too much going to to take the time out right how.
I attached my current bootanimation. In the interest of clarity, I would like the team acid logo portion of the boot animation gfx myst attached above (part 0) in front of my boot animation I just attached. Mine has two parts also, I like part 0 from mine too. That's why I couldn't figure it out. I was trying to take part 0 from myst animation, rename it to part 1 and copy it to mine. Didn't work. Once again, thanks!
Matt
I think you should know that if your boot animation is longer then the time it takes to boot to android it WILL cut the animation short. Be aware even if he gets it working it might not show the animation properly. There has been requests to slow boot times so the animation shows and well the devs and most people have laughed. I think there is a tool out there that will allow you to create a live wallpaper from bootanimations but I have no idea where to look. I vaguely remember people talking about it.
Thanks for the info man. I try to soak up as much as possible.
I'm pretty sure it will work. I'm currently using a 2 part bootanimantion, I'm just trying to delete one part from each and then merge the remainder.
We'll see.
Either way, good input and thanks!
In my experience, it has finished the boot animation for me... anyways I will work on at and should have it working by Sunday... I have school and stuff so yeah.

This is just something I threw together for fun, after reading one too many posts of people complaining of boot loops and other problems when flashing different ROMs and kernels. It starts with the normal Nexus One bootup sequence, then halts at a BSOD message.

To install the animation, rename the file to bootanimation.zip and adb push to /data/local
Code:
adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local
Check out Random Boot Animations if you want to use multiple boot animations.
Update Notes:
v2.1 - Fixed typo in blue screen
v2 - Increased resolution of X animation, revised BSOD to an Android-related message, including a reminder on how to access the Bootloader.
v1 - Initial release.
Haha love it! I will have to show my co-workers this one.
Haha, nice work! I think this is a great idea. I'll try it when i get home!
Lol nice! How do you apply it and how can i backup my current one?
Thanks
how do I flash this? I tried through recovery but I got a verification failed.
sweet works great with random boot animation script
No one wants to answer because we have to search or they dont know themselves. im sure its a half/half. Little do they know they knew nothing at one point...
It's in system/media and named BootAnimation.zip. Use a file manager to copy it/rename it and then move the new animation in. You can push it from a laptop as well, but I never bothered remembering the commands for adb. A quick search really would have answered your questions. :]
you can push it to /data/local/bootanimation.zip
if you don't want it anymore, delete it and your original is untouched
Just ran it then, looks cool. But why is the X so low res?

Sorry, I was in a rush when posting this, and didn't have time to get back to this forum until a few days later. I've updated OP with installation instructions.

If you push the file to /data/local as in the instructions, your original bootanimation (which resides in /system/media) will not be overwritten. However, if you have another boot animation already at /data/local, you can make a copy of that before overwriting it with this one.

This was just a quick hack thrown together for laughs. The problem is that the final screen needs to be at 480x800 in order to have a blue background. That means the rest of the images will also need to be at that ratio. The original X animation was done at 512x256, and if I rescaled it to 480x800 the animation lags a bit on my phone. So what I did was to downscale it to 240x400, which is why it appears low-res.
If people are actually interested in this I can experiment a bit to see what is a good compromise between speed and resolution.
OP is updated with V2 of the animation! If you liked the first one, you should definitely get this.

Boot Animations
Installation
The first splash has to be flashed to the device; follow these steps
1 - Unzip xdasplash.bmp.rar to a folder on your desktop
2 - Connect you phone via activesync and make sure battery is >50%
3 - Run the CustomRuu that was in the zip
4 - Follow the on screen instructions
Dont worry no data will be deleted from your device
The boot animation should be placed in your windows folder on device memory.
Rename to either "animated" or "LEO_animated"
(depends on device, check your windows folder to see which one you already have there)
The welcomehead is the same.
May need to be named either "welcomehead192" or "well"
I'm Happy to Inspire You , specially becouse your work is fantastic !

Hi Madraum,
With these cabs do we still have to flash anything or will they install
on opening the Cabs ? It's the first Welcomehead screen,I'm concerned about here
really,I've installed other animation screens before, but never the Welcomehead
with the Radio and ROM info...
Thanx
Nope this cabs are only for animation and welcome . As for splash you must go like flashing radio or rom( there is no other way) but don't worry nothing bad will happen. This image change only splash screen when you power on your pda and its compleatly safe
Cheers Bud,so nothing for it,but to give it a try I guess...
Yup
Hey MadrauM, I tried to reply to your message last night but the server was overloaded
Thanks for making the cabs.
I was going to do it myself but I see you've beaten me to it
Thanks very much man
@marc
I was a bit wary the first time I flashed one but once you get the first one out of the way its ok

the short answer is. I don't know....
welcomeheads and animations will be fine but the splash screen requires you to flash it to the device using the custom ruu.
ok ive just googled the milestone and its an android device so these are not compatible with your device.
these are for winmo only. sorry.....
shouldn't be hard for someone to make an android version though if you ask nicely
I see this made the portal
thanks!
if anyone knows who's responsible for the xda logos then let me know so they can be credited in the first post!
Hey Buddy, is This Work For all of Devices?
i Want to try On my redmi note 4....
Here is an animation I made based off of the OSX boot up. Put in /system/media to install it. Make sure permissions are rw-r--r-- for the zip.. or jsut copy the permissions for the original bootanimation.zip in Root Explorer.

Any way you can make a splash screen that looks like this but without the loading circle? That would be amazing and it would look like a Mac when you first boot (no circle then the circle would come in later just like a mac).

Wont make it flashable, currently it is a universal boot animation that works on both AOSP and Sense ROMs, making it flashable would require setting specifics for AOSP based ROMs and Sense based stuff. And no offense. But I dont give a d**n about Sense.

Hello all, I'm more or less new to the forums and I just want to say thank you for all the great support and content! So here is me trying to "give back to the community"
"Important: As usual this boot animation zip is not flashable and must be pushed via ADB or copied to your SDcard and then moved to the correct system folders.
Instructions: Push or copy the file "bootanimation.zip" just as it is d/l'd to either
/system/customize/resource or /system/media on your phone."

I can't see the two images you have on your post.
I'm assuming your talking about the USA flag yes?
Also do you mean the CM7 logo, and if so, just the logo, or the cm7 text under it?
I think just the logo would look cleaner, yes/no?
Those are my banners not attachments lol
Yes I mean the united states flag
by cm7 I mean like a cyan colored flag with the cm7 logo instead of the android logo and maybe 'cm7' or 'cyangogenmod 7' under the 'android' or something, if you think you can make it look good that is
Again great animation and plz n thnx!

Pretty neat - I prefer the "Apples are for nom" bootanimation myself - similar in idea and concept.
I tried to get bootanims working in the Gingerbread kernels and failed... Maybe I should take a look at the Cyanogenmod initramfs for something to kang... but testing it when I'm running CM7 will be tough.

Hey, Aussti this is a GREAT boot animation. I will definitely be rockin this for a while.
I hope you don't mind I thought it was missing just a little something. So I decided I would go ahead and add some audio. Just download the file that is attached, extract it, put it on your SD card, move it to /system/etc, and rename it PowerOn.wav ......that IS case sensitive. Reboot and check it out. Let me know what you think.

Did you change the kernel? The kernel needs to support animations.
