[Q] Want to run Custom ROM on Android AVD (Emulator) - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

I have a Samsung Galaxy S flashed with CM10. As part of my exploration I am trying to create an image of this ROM and run it on the Android AVD. I have done a Nandroid backup of my phone and copied the files to my PC, which has all complete Android SDK with AVD.I have gone through all the posts related to this subject on xda. Have not been able to do this . Any help is most welcome, if it can be a step by step guide it would be great because I have no development exposure in Android.
I have attached the file list of Nandroid Backup in my PC folder.
Thanks in Advance.

[Q] Need Help with ROM..

i would like to take the stock ui off of my phone and i would like to know how to pull my system folder to my PC and create an update zip and sign it. bc i used nandroid backup but it says that i don''t have a sd card in my phone and skips the backup to my sd card. i have the htc hero and the 2.1 update
Is your phone rooted? Did you install Google sdk on your pc? If so go to your command prompt. And CD to the folder that you installed sdk and go to the tool folder.
Do adb romount then adb pull system system once the system folder is pulled create a update zip. Do a search here on xda and you will find the signing zip and instructions can't post it replying from my phone.
still need help
i haven't used the command prompt for nothing on my phone so?? i don't know how to use the command prompt or what to type in on their. plz help
Take a look at this post may help you out.

wow..ok i gave you the benefit of the doubt in the other thread..but you made 2 threads of the same thing in the wrong section of this forum. Thats a blatant disregard for the rules. if you needed things worked out that much you should have used the IRC chat.

[Q] Htc Hd2

I am trying to install rafdroid and the instructions say to " First of all modify the config.txt file in your build folder, with wince=1 or you will be stuck at bootscreen."
I really don't know how to modify it so could anybody help with this?? Maybe some steps on what to download & how to modify it would be helpful. Any help will be appreciated. Help ASAP if able. Thanks.
I've used rafdroid sd builds looong time ago... but i remember that if you use to start android from winmo you must create a text file (withe Notepad), write "wince=1" and save it in to the android folder in the sd-card otherwise it will work only with MAGLDR.

Allwinner A10/A13 device firmware backup script/tool

Hello All, this is my first post in Xda-forum, I love they way u all interact and help each other out here...well u see I hav a Allwinner A10 based tablet called Ice Xtreme which is very cheap in India do a google search on this tablet. well the company did not provide any software and I had corrupted mine while trying to use a custom recovery which was not from a allwinner a10 based tab. Anyways after alot of fuss I got it fixed but still they did not provide me with the livesuit image. I looked for ways to backing up my current working firmware from my tablet but found none. So after alot of searching I found this Script at a forum which can dump the recovery, the bootloader, boot partitions and system and data folder. But throughout my experience with this Livesuit firmware things I see that the drivers inside the vendor folder are also important as no two tablets have same chips (some thing will be different) so I modified the script and build it into a script that takes most of the directories (excluding mount,as it has only ur SD n extSD data) The dump thus created may help in modifying another image to suit ur needs.
I have only been able to backup directories and boot, recovery, bootloader partition thanks to the original script. I have no Idea how to send/restore these files to the device after flashing another rom to restore most of the things. Any help would be a boon. Thank u all for ur indirect help in bringing out the geek in me.
Try it!! & post feedbacks and suggestions...
This helps to backup the rom files with only adb. Just start the batch file & relax while ur ROM is being dumped.n it will also keep a copy on ur SDcard too.
Just use
#adb backup
for back up and
#adb restore
for restoring
# command...
But will it be possible to extract different files???!!
Hey, suppose I wanna flash a custom ROM which doesnt hav all of my boards drivers in it. So if I backup using adb can I thn restore driver files from the stock ROM backup to the new Custom ROM...
how to write backup ???
extension *.tgz??/
need expalain for restore backup..
thx..

[Q] Diff between ROMs

I am interested to know what tools are available to do a "diff" ( http://unixhelp.ed.ac.uk/CGI/man-cgi?diff ) between ROMs in Android and, if possible, even against the a nandorid backup or some other method to get the file on the phone.
I expect that it would be possible to to extract the content of the ROM on two different folder and then running a opendiff or some other tools (ex: http://meldmerge.org/ ) on the two folder.
I am trying to see what executable and what script changed between a stock ROM and what I have currently running on my phone or other ROMs available here.
Thank you in advance!

What to do next after deodexing?

Hi all,
I've tried this tool package [Script/Tool][Windows]>>Auto-Deodexer 4.3<<[All Android Versions] and it worked fine but there's no specific instruction on how to flash/install it back to my phone. Can someone guide me on what to do next?
I'm done with the very last instruction but have no idea what to do with the generated "ROM" folder
"When done, copy the modified files (in the zipaligned__ folders) back to the original app and framework directories in the "ROM" directory"
I'm fairly new to doing this deodexing thing on my own, I usually just flash roms that are already deodexed but sadly this new phone doesn't have support yet from the experts.
Thank you in advance.

Which phone are you using??
Its better don't go further if you hav no experience with this.. doing wrong or for first time will create some mistakes and will create problems...
Thums up if you are ready to take all responsibility and go further there are many guides around XDA to cook your ROM
Tel the clear information of your device... I.e. device name, android version..

Yes I would really like to learn how to cook my own rom from my rom dump and integrate the deodexed system there.
I've successfully loaded the deodexed framework and apps and removed .odex files via adb. Phone working fine after all that.
Thanks!
