Did you unlock your bootloader?
If yes, there's really no reverting that. If you used the exploit (motofail2go or whatever) then I think you can.... Not sure about that process, I've officially unlocked

yeah i did unlock the bootloader

Yea, if you went thru the official unlock process, you've registered your serial number with Motorola and voided your warranty...
There's really no going back on that. What were you looking to achieve exactly?

honestly, this is my problem. my screen won't turn on. like, the phone turns on and i can see the notifcation light ant all. but the screen is all black. and before it completely died, it used to glitch out and ****. i'm not sure if it's the digitizer or lcd screen... but i guess i'm just going to have to manually fix it. i'm just not sure exactly what i'm going to have to replace.

Yeah, I had a similar problem except it just the screen wouldn't come on until like a whole minute later. A bit annoying, but I could manage.
What you could do is use rsdlite and the stock files in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=36613321 This'll reset your phone back to stock.

Well I've been okay for the past few days, but before it was extremely annoying. Hasn't happened too much lately. Thank you for the suggestion, though, I will use that whenever it arises again.

Lost touch screen control

OK, now I have a problem.
If I turn my xoom off and then on again the touchscreen will not respond to any input, only hardware buttons work.
If I hold volume up and power button to restart, it restarts and everything works OK. I can but it to sleep and wake it up and still everything works. Everything works until I turn it off and on again, then the problem returns and I need to hold volume up and power button to restart it again to get the touch screen working.
I searched the net but didn't find anything similar.
Any ideas?
is it still stock or you rooted / update kernel ?

Its complitly stock wifi only Xoom, bought from US about two weeks old.
I tried Factory reset, it didn't change anything.
Strange thing is that volume up and power reset fixes it every time. And it works fine until i turn it off again. What does this volume up and power button command do exactly, soft reset? If soft reset fixes it, it can't be a hardware problem or can it?
If I were you I would return it cuz to me that sounds like a defect with your xoom. But if u messed with it (rooting/unlocking) they won't even touch it.

Like i already said, i haven't messed with it, it's completely stock.
About returning it... The problem is that i'm in Europe and i bought my Xoom from US, so i'm not really excited about sending it back.
Is it somehow possible to install the current android 3.0.1 rom again? Without unlocking and rooting?
I do not know if it works on the xoom but other tablets have a calibration ini file that you can place on the root of your SD card and reboot letting it recalibrate the touch screen? Let me know and I can send that to you?

Thanks for trying to help! I'm not sure i want to mess with this yet. I talked to Motorola about my problem and the seemed very interested in my problem, so i will wait and see what they suggest.
Any news from there? I have a similar situation here (malfunctioning touchscreen, and I'm from Europe).

My malfunctioning is slightly different from yours, but I'm interested in what Motorola says for a problem like this.

Really? I haven't seen anything like my problem in forums, and everyone told me that my problem is "strange" :S
However, just in case, have you thought about how to return the Xoom from Europe to US? Or are you directly talking with Motorola to file a RMA practice? After all, we should have one year of international warranty by Motorola, isn't it?

In fact someone from Motorola US contacted me and offered help, so I can't really say anything bad about Motorola, they are really friendly and helpful. They offered to replace my Xoom, but later discovered that i'm not in US and suggested that I should be able to get a replacement from europe.
Before I was contacted by Motorola US, I sent a email to Motorola UK and they also apologized for the problems I had and offered to replace my Xoom, only problem is that they don't have any in stock at the moment, so I have to wait about two weeks.
As my Xoom works great after I force reboot it, it's not a problem for me to wait, I can use my Xoom until I get a replacement.
I would like to thank Motorola for the great support that they have offered me and I will update this thread when my issue is resolved.
But back to your problem, I suggest that you contact your nearest Motorola office, i'm sure they will try to help you.

I'm trying to do it right now
A little update.
I have been using my faulty Xoom for over two weeks now. I didn't turn it off so it worked until today. Today i tried to install a app from Market and My apps crashed, so i tried to stop it and this caused Launcer to FC (Does Launcer FC cause a automatic reboot?). The screen went black and in about 20 seconds it did show me the lock screen and i had no touch screen control. So i force rebooted it and now it doesn't even start up anymore, it's stuck on boot animation.
So it's starting to get really frustrating... I'm even considering to buy another Xoom, but this really isn't a solution, i have no use for two (if i ever get a replacement).
Has anyone any ideas? Why is it now stuck on boot animation, doesn't this look like a software problem? Is there any way to push clean images to it without unlocking? I understand that unlocking will void my warranty?
Is it possible to flash the official stock images without unlocking?
Ok, i got it to boot up again. I did Wipe data/factory reset and now it boots up again, but still no touch control.
And it seems that i have confirmed that doing too many force reboots will mess up the system.
BTW, there is a way to get into Android recovery on WIFI only Xoom, i wish i had known this before, "adb reboot recovery" works.
Can someone please answer my question, is it possible to flash the official stock images without unlocking? Maybe that will fix my touch screen control problem...
I've having this same issue but mine is worse.. the touchscreen is not working AT ALL.. only the power button works..
I can restart the xoom with the volume up power button but after it restarts still no response from the touchscreen!
What can I do to fix this?
Any help would be appreciated..

No screen (black) but has sound MIUI update

Hi, I'm new here so don't know if i'm posting this in the right place but here it goes... Ok i gave my HTC Inspire to a friend to install the MIUI ROM to it. Afterwards it was running smoothly and had no problems with it. A few days later my Inspire notified me that it had an update to the ROM. At first i wasn't sure to install it because it is a custom ROM and not the default one, but did the update anyways through the phone. Again, the phone worked normal all day, but at some point the screen started glitching untill it turned completly off.
The one strange thing is that the phone seems to function normally because when charged and "turned on" i can hear the sounds and notifications(like email, text and app notifiactions). Also when i connect it to my computer, it recognizes the device.
That happened about three days ago and I have not been able to discover what really is the problem and how to fix it. If there's anyone that could help me i would REALLY appreciate it.
Thanks in advance,
Marialo
most likely was a bad update.
You should boot into recovery and reinstall miui everything should be back.
Keep in mind the devs have to set miui for each device, chances are you updated to the wrong base.
That's what i thought but can't boot into recovery because i can't see the screen... Any advice on that?
Btw, thks for the quick response
Try shutting off the phone completely and booting into your bootloader the old fashioned way by holding down the volume down key, press power, and release volume down once you see the bootloader screen.
If your screen doesn't work during that, you may have a hardware problem on your hands.
Ok thanks; will try that then.

or while the phone's on, if you have ADB installed - open a cmd prompt and navigate to where ADB is and type "adb reboot recovery"

If its rooted warranty won't cover this. Get the ruu (stock exe) from the HTC support site and run it. If the phone still has a black screen after its been returned to stock then the problem is hardware related

Sudden Death Brick?

Hey all. So I put my phone back to stock, followed all the guides to the ".". I then took the OTA update to 4.3, and now I believe I have the sudden death brick. When i attempt to power on my phone, it just keeps vibrating, and won't actually start. I was wondering if there are any fixes to this or am I SoL? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT: I can get it into Download mode for all of 2 seconds, and then it appears the phone shuts off.

That unfortunately didn't work. Does the same thing as it did before hand. I did notice that I can get it into download mode for a second or two. Does that help me at all?
By the way, it says recovery booting when it turns on following that guide.

Try to repeat the process, rewrite the image to your sdcard, then try again (usually obtain results after 3-4 trials). Make sure you pull the battery, then insert the sdcard....like the instruction said!

This sound crazy but works for many with power button issue:
"Today my phone kept turning off for no reason. Instead of hitting it on the table, this time i hit it against my washer on the rounded corner so i can precisely hit the power button. I had to do it like 10 times but its back up and running. I think its better to do it this way as the washer is plastic. Just a precaution so you don't break your phone"
Also ThePagel had suggested to some folks on this forum and they said it works!
Give it a try, if not working, maybe you need to hit it a little bit harder..without breaking your phone..
Give it a shot! When it happened to me I put a crappy thumb drive under my mouse pad and made sure only the button area got the impact. Be careful doing this. To light and it won't work, to hard and you might crack your screen. You might need to hit it a few times at "just the right speed" before the power button gets unstuck. Make sure you take your battery out as a safety precaution.

So, it just randomly turned it self back on, and I am thinking this may be an issue with software more than anything, because I also noticed on one point in the screen, without me even touching the phone, you will see the blip of something touching it. I am wondering if maybe I didn't properly flash stock back on or something. I also noticed the bootloader software is running on rev 1 and not 3. Is there a way to use Kies or something to just erase all the contents on the phone and reinstall it like new without having to throw it in download mode? I am rather concerned now about turning it off now that it may actually be at a point where I can fix it.
Maybe this is actually just a hardware error. I am really unsure. Either way, ever since I recieved the OTA 4.3, the splash screen says "Custom". At the very least does anyone have any idea how to get rid of that so I can just call up samsung since it's a shade under a year and if it is hardware I can just get a new phone.

The fact that it powered up when you put the battery in tells me its more hardware than software. The only way to reflash 4.3 from here is Odin or Verizon utility. kies might be pushing 4.3 by now (wasn't last time I checked) but anyway you pick it will do a full erase. Even if you could redo the ota it could still hard brick your phone if it restarts in the middle of installing. Are you sure you have the ota and not one of the 4 or 5 4.3 stock roms?

Kies 3 shouldn't be compatible with our phones. Besides Odin and even the Verizon utility runs much better than kies. it is a system hog with the chance of crashing in the middle of the install.

[Q] Bootloop randomly!!!

I literally just woke up this morning and its stuck in a bootloop. It constantly reboots, and when i get into recovery mode it waits a second and then selects the thing thats on-screen. Really aggravating. Every time i use recovery i can only get upto either Restart bootloader<Start>Poweroff before it selects whats on screen.... This is the weirdest problem ever it boots into recovery why the F*** would it not let me select what i want. Is there a way to manually do anything through ADB??? Wasnt even flashing anything, was on the same custom rom for a few months.

Strange overlay requiring buttons to be pressed twice (Samsung Galaxy S3 running CM)

Hi, I sold a very old phone earlier and the person sent me this video saying the phone is broken and you have to double press things.
Am I right in thinking this is a setting and can be easily fixed? It looks to be software rather than hardware. Their son is very upset so I'd like to fix it asap! If possible, otherwise a refund obviously.
It's a Samsung Galaxy S3 running Cyanogenmod. Thanks
Edit: Fixed by holding down both the volume buttons for 3 seconds!
Easiest way would be to a factory reset since it's going to a new user. Make sure you delete the Google and Samsung accounts first then do the reset in settings not the boot menu if possible.
Thanks, it has already been reset though and it was like this from the start? It's very strange, not sure how to disable it. (also doesn't help that I don't have access to the phone!)

You already did a factory reset and it persisted.
So you did a hard reboot and that temporarily at least did the trick?
Thanks, like I said it's tricky because I don't have access to the phone, but either way they are happy with it now But yup - it was from a full reset and it was there, unless they turned it on by accident.

May be an Accessibility feature. Sort of sounds like it. Lol for Vets that can't break the double tap habit.
