[Q] S-Pen Settings N8000DDUCMA2 Jelly Bean 4.1.2 India Update - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I just upgraded to Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2 N8000DDUCMA2 Build using Kies and I cannot find the S-Pen settings in it. Any one else who has upgraded facing similar issues or have the settings been moved somewhere else or removed? Also, on removing the S-Pen, there is no shortcut toolbar popping up from the right side and there is no pen indicator in the notification.

Yes, I did get the Multiwindow, Air View and Easy Clip stuff. I had a chat with Samsung Tech Support and he just asked me to take it to the Service Center.

S-pen missing from settings after Jellybean 4.1.2 OTA update
Dear All, even I am facing the same problem on my Galaxy Note GT-N8000 after update to JB 4.1.2. The S-pen section is altogether missing from the 'Settings'. Does anyone have a solution or an answer to this? Thanks.

Dear KonfusedGeek, were you able to contact the Samsung service centre Guys? If yes, were they able to resolve this problem of S-pen settings?

Hey hi, I am also currently facing this issue with the latest update. I dont understand what is the problem. Does anyone else face the same issue and find solution for it ??
Moreover I dont like the new keyboard that comes with this update.

S-Pen not working
Just curious as to if anyone was having problems with the S-Pen not working at all after the 4.1.2 update? It recognizes it has been removed but doesn't work. Tried a factory reset to no avail. Tapping it on a hard surface has not worked. Replaced one of the tips and still nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I upgraded to 4.1.2 and SPEN was not visible under Settings and neither stylus context menu pops up from right side of Note 10.1 when I removed my stylus. However I was still able to use stylus.
After couple of re-installation, I re-installed ICE Cream and Then 4.1.1 Jelly Bean and I am happy.
Seems like India Upgrade 4.1.2 SW for Note 10.1 has some issue.

I will definitely go to the service center guys this weekend and will talk to them. Since, lot of people who have upgraded to the India 4.1.2 upgrade are facing this issue, I guess they have probably removed this feature or have somehow screwed up badly.

Thanks ConfusedGeek.

[Q] Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 Navigation Bar on CM10

Hi guys,
i just installed the newest nightly CM10 (18.09.2012) on my galaxy tab 3110.
first i noticed that in navigation bar the back and multitask buttons are replaced.
second i noticed these buttons are smaller than bevor with nightly build 14.09.2012.
i figuered out how to replace the buttons again and saved the settings.
my problem is as followed:
since the new nightly update my navigation bar is not specific. everytime i have to touch the buttons a bit left and they work.
if i touch them in the center or a bit right there is no action and the buttons are not responding.
only the home-screen button is working well so far.
has anyone noticed this problem? can i solve it?
does this problem depend on the smaller navigation-bar buttons?
i hope you can help me.
thanks
Just try aokp rom it has a full control of navigation buttons (like cm10 but more customizable) and based also in jelly bean
Sent from Galaxy S2 or Galaxy Tab2
thanks for reply.
i dont want to change my rom. before the new nightly everything was ok and the navigation-bar was not customizable, so nothing was wrong and everytime i touched the buttons they responded 100%
does anybody have the same problems like me when touching the navigation-buttons they cant be touched in the center or a little bit to the right of them?
EDIT:
So it seems the problem is known by other users as well.
I would like to downgrade to an older nightly build. is this possible? can anybody tell me how to do it?
can i just put the older nightly .zip on internal sd-card and flash it like all the other "updates"?
thanks

[Q] How to enable some features with S-Pen ?

Hi
I recently bought a Galaxy Note 10.1
I saw some videos that people pressed the button on the s-pen and then draw on the screen and then it would capture the picture inside that drawing and they could import that into s note or message or email or ... . I googled it and unfortunately I didn't find anything . Does anyone know how to enable that feature ? does it require a software or something ?
also I saw some other clips that people would draw a circle around a day in s planner and write Mike's Birthday , and the app would detect that and add an event that the day is birthday . I can't do that either !
there is one more thing . in S-Note when I press the button on S-Pen , it doesn't toggle between pen and eraser . how can I enable that ?
thanks ( in advance ) for your answer
( sorry for bad english )
Those are all things you will get when you get the jellybean update.

You click on the button and then you push on the screen (long push). You will capture the screen.
Push button and double tap screen opens floating note...
Download the note 10.1 users digest from the app store - free - and it explains a few features to you for ICS 4.0.4...
Same issue....S-pen screen selection does not work.
I had the Note 10.1 (N8013) for about 3months now. I bought one for my partner for Christmas and when we try to select a portion of the screen with the S-Pen, it does not work. (full screen capture works fine - but we need partial selection)
The new device are on 4.0.4 (it was ALGB and got an update to ALI3) a couple of hours back, but still we cannot do a selective screen capture.
The double-tap with the button pushed, brings up the SNote mini-app.
Press and hold, dragging from top to bottom, brings up the menu for that particular app
The Press-button and hold on screen, captures the whole screen - but we need the partial-selection on the screen to work.
What are we missing?
My device is working fine. I have rooted mine (a few minutes after I got it, three months ago and in the mean time upgraded to JB (4.1.2) and can for the life of me not remember if it was a feature of later versions than ALI3 that introduced this selective screen capture?
Any help?
Thanks

Hi Bert!
I also have the 8013 device and experienced similar problems.
When I first rooted and installed the Jellybean update, the jellybean version was from the international 3g/wifi version when the unofficial update was released. I suspect you may have the same.
When you try a partial screen capture, do those dashed lines still appear? If so, look in your gallery under screenshots( I think). They should be there. Unfortunately, I don't think this version of the jellybean gave you the application prompt at the bottom of the screen when you finished the partial screen capture.
If you haven't already, I would update to the official (4.1.1) jellybean for the German OTA wifi models. You will enjoy all the premium suite benefits you see in the videos.
Never had such an issue............. make sure the os is correctly working.... check out www.sammobile.com and look for a JB update, 4.1.2 is coming along this week.
Enjoy.

[Q] Screen issue on 4.2 roms

Ok so i installed CM10.1 and i noticed that there is someting like an invsible line 1cm above the buttons..... it can be really annoying. I can only see it in games or when i scroll up/down in portrait mode.looks like it would reload everytinhg scrolling through there, dont even know how to explain. I tried to enable the 3 options for screen tearing("disable hw overlays , force gpu rendering etc) but it doesent slove anything. Same goes for AOKP 4.2.2. With 4.1 roms everyting is fine.Anyone knows what the problem could be ?
You might wanna make a backup of CM10.1 and flash another ROM to see if the problem persists. I've ran about 6 different 4.2 ROMs and haven't seen this.
Worst case scenario is that it's your screen...

[Q] Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 (root) 4.1.2, GT P5100 - No Navigation Bar anymore

Hey Guys,
sorry for my bad english..
I have a big problem and tried to solve it, but nothing worked.
My Tab 2 10.1 is rooted.
Android Version 4.1.2
Kernel 3.0.31
Touchwiz Standard Launcher
Since i installed some apps my status bar on the bottom is completely away.
I have no idea how it could happen. The navigation bar suddenly disappeared.
So i have no back, home, menu, screenshot button anymore.
Do anybody know how to fix this problem?
I can just go back via Webkey from my laptop.
Thank you so much

How to resolve problems caused by Android 4.3 on the Galaxy S3

Many Samsung Galaxy S3 users are still experiencing some problems with the update to version 4.3 of Android Jelly Bean. Today we will showcase some key issues people are facing and offer solutions to fix them.
Battery is the pits
One of the problems encountered is that the battery now has poor durability. To solve this problem, we recommend downloading an app like Battery Doctor, with which you can check the status of your battery and manage applications that consume energy unnecessarily.
Multi Window mode isn't working
Another problem is that the Multi Window mode isn’t working for some of you. To resolve this, go to Settings, then My device and select Home Screen Mode. Set the easy mode and then back to the standard one. Finally, reboot your device.
Notifications aren't on par
Many users of the Galaxy S3, once having updated their device to 4.3 Jelly Bean, have also had some problems with notifications and are receiving old ones. This problem can be solved by selecting the Downloads app and deleting all downloads present.
