Any tips on battery life on this phone with CM9 with matrix kernel as in charging mode . Is there a SBC kernel like HTC phones, because I'm used to that. My phone just takes a long time to charge fully without me using it.

Matr1x kernel has a fast charge mode which is available through NSTools available on the Play Store.

Thanks I'll check that out

Fast charge only helps when you would see the "USB Connected" notification to mount usb storage, not when plugged into the wall. Typical charge should take 2 - 2.5 hours from 0 - 100, without any use.
Ah. Okay. I've never used it. Probably should have actually looked it up. Haha.

inverted gapps do help imo
This is probably one of the worst phones on battery life that I have ever had... No matter what I do, what tweaks I use of what rom I'm on... I always only get 7 to 8 hours of battery with 1 hr screen on time.
I honestly have no idea what to do... I'm so sick of it. Anybody have any suggestions?
Seriously?
I have been on my phone all day with a full charge and I still have about half the juice. I am on stock 4.0.4 ICS. The one that droidstyles has in his guide. The Rom that came with my phone sucked on battery. This Rom works great for some reason.

What are your settings on? Post your settings (like screen, whether GPS is on, ect), a lot of times it has to do with your settings. I used to have so-so battery life but I tweaked some stuff in my settings and am very pleased with the phone.
Believe me, if you want bad, try the Droid Charge. Worst 4g phone I have ever had in terms of battery life.
This is on clean rom. Ignore the screen percentage, going down since this was a recently flashed rom.

I have nothing running... Only thing that I actually did was run v6 and I am running kt kernel
I'm on pure motives rls7
I'll add a screen shot of my battery status tomorrow cause I just plugged in
I get 30 hours with 5 and a half hours screen time.
Idk why your battery life is so bad.
I have power save on, no vibration, and sync set to manual. That's about it. Battery life for me is amazing.

Possible Idea
Don't know if this problem could occur with different ROM's, but I had issues with a runaway process that kept showing up. Maybe try Developer Options -> Show CPU Usage. I noticed that one called gsiff_daemon kept showing up at the top and was making my battery drain extremely fast. Everyone on this forum said it was a common issue and that it wasn't a crucial file, therefore I should just change the name so it wouldn't get accessed.
On RLS7 and kt kernel? This kernel has capabilities for overclocking/underclocking & overvolting/undervolting. By default your min Mhz is set to 384. Go into ktweaker and lower it to 96, test your phone out with a scaled stress test (play store app for stress testing). Then you can also go into the extra settings of ktweaker and set the Mhz for when your screen is off in addition to the governor (many options of which some are powersaving labelled).
If you want to save more battery read the kernel's thread to see starting undervolting values and lower from there while testing your phones limits. More undervolted you are, the less battery your phone uses for that particular frequency.

You obviously never had the thunderbolt, now that battery sucked. You have to let the rom settle in and your battery will improve. Usually for me the first day not so good after that everything is fine.

I had a Thunderbolt. Yep, now that was poor battery life.
My S3 gives me 12 hours if I use it heavily. Typically, at 16 hours, I still have 40% remaining. I leave WiFi, bluetooth, and GPS on 100% of the time.
As bad as your battery is, I would suspect that you have a poor radio signal.and the radios are cranking up the power to work. Try using WiFi or turning off mobile data for a while to get the LTE radio turned off.
man, i barely get 8 hours at times

This. For example, I have a 4g tower nearby at work, normally (4-5 bars). But sometimes it disappears, and I end up on a 1-2 bar 3g tower for the day. On those days, my battery life is around 8hrs max, barely using it. On good signal, even with crazy heavy usage (4hrs screen on and lots of 4g web browsing) I can get over 8 hours.
Signal strength has a LOT to do with battery life.

Check your Google account sync - could be something in there is not syncing correctly. Settings / Accounts / Google.
I had this - Internet Sync was not working but kept trying burning CPU, network, and battery. Disabled the failing sync and all was better.

I am using stock battery on stock jellybean leak and get 30+ hours with 5.5 to 7 hours screen on time you can see from the pics above that we are not charging. The bar would go UP at some point if we were.
I just have my phone set up the perfect way to get maximum battery life.
It's simple. I personally have nothing to gain from lying about something so silly as battery life.

Upgraded to JB yesterday.. may i ask for your battery opinion on the new JB rom?
Sent from my GT-P6200 using XDA Premium HD app
About the battery, mine lasted yesterday for about 4hrs only. WiFi on and always browsing the Internet. And it's in the Airplane Mode. Jelly Bean is a RAM Hog unlike ICS, but RAM was increased to 828 MB. So yea. I downloaded Juice Defender Ultimate and see if it works and I hope it will work.
Deep sleep run well in mine
Sent from my GT-P6200 using xda premium
i had some trouble with mediaserver eating battery when restoring backup after wiping data. but only for a while, after that everything are back to normal. i do think that battery lasted somewhat longer with jellybean. probably 1/2 - 40 minutes longer on normal use, not much to mention, but there are differences. btw, i think you should do a clean data wipe after flashing with firmwares that are not made for your region. on mine, without a clean wipe, the battery life would go crazy.
It's slightly better than ICS. I'm now at 30% after 4 hours and 30 minutes of non stop usage which includes heavy gaming and with wifi turned on. GPS was also turned on for a while. Standby is amazing. My average 4-5 hours == 1 percent damage has been improved to 6-7 hours.
Note:
Debloated
Disabled some apps on start-up
Greenified
Also the new power saving mode actually works quite well.

Hmm i dunno why.. after upgrading to JB via mobile odin, unable to root.. battery life seems doubled , because when i use ICS it drains so quickly

I'm sorry I don't remember what apps I debloated because I usually delete the backups made by the NoBloat app. I saved around 130MB more or less. As far as I remember here are some of the apps:
2 Accu Widgets
Music Hub
Reader's Hub
Kobo Books
Zinio
Samsung Apps
SamsungsAppsUna2
Other Widgets that were 3-6MB [or reaching an MB] in size.
SNS
Apps that I find no use to and are not related to important the system.
As for the apps I disabled at start-up are mainly my apps that I don't need to run or has no use to run at start-up except for Sidebar Pro,Greenify and the likes. Some system apps like Software Update, World Clock, Some Google Apps. Seriously though, it's much more of a preference. You may use some of the apps I disabled. As long as it's not as important as SystemUI, you can pretty much turn it off. I suggest you use the ES Task Manager's Startup Manager and click Optimize. Then reenable some apps that you need and vice versa.

yes my batt is much better on JB than on ics, my tab has been pon stand by mode for almost 2 days and batt is still around 45$.
Guys I must share that unbelivable stats (for me and maybe some of you).
A few days ago I flashed an MGG rom and then tried to downgrade, I ended up with unfunctional SGS4.. FCs, No sound.. Almsot dropped it into a grabge.
Thanks to Djembey! I fixed it up - Downloaded MH8 from Samsung Updates, Flashed it with Odin so my phone is Official status now and the crazy thing I've found is that the battery is THE GREATEST I've ever seen yet. All Official stock.
Yet- 25 Hours without charging! (During the first 9 Hours NFC and BT were working cause I forgot to switch em off) 2 Hours Screen on time! and still 52% Battery
P.S: Pictures were taken after some use time...

This has been possible with all rom so far. The most important point on such statements, as per my opinion, is always missing. Which configuration (i.e. background tasks, screen settings, power saving settings, data connection, BT, WLAN) was active during the said period. Only once there are predefined test settings (if only possible) applied - comparison is probably possible with a certain accuracy.
Anyhow, if it makes people happy sharing such information - it is worth of sharing it !

Nothing Configured for Battery saving.............. Mobile always on. Screen Brightness Auto in the middle. Nothing been changed since I Flashed MH8 for battery saving.
Just powered off BT and NFC after about 9 Hours. Google services off.
standby time is better since latest update ( at least for me )
standby, on 3g with sync, battery drops 1% / h -> 4 days standby time
airplane mode -> 1 % per 8-10 hours -> 32 days offline - never going to try this
but screen on time is rarely more than 4 hours ( browsing or game play ), with video watching could go up to 8 hours
stock, unrooted 9505i

I'd generally average 25-28hrs with everything on, a few message, a bit of talk time. 2 push exchange accounts. Syncing on. Bluetooth on. GPS off. Data on. Wi-Fi on. Smart stuff on. A few widgets. Live wallpaper
One day using same settings add above, managed over 2 days (see pic). The two big drops were where I ran benchmarking software to try and hammer battery
Now I always have pebble connected and using tasker/autovoice (continuous voice) get around 18hrs

How much screen time? That's what matters the most to me.
My phone performs really great when I'm on Wifi, but once 4G comes in, it drains 10%/h battery when I'm not using the phone and even more if I do.
So I have to leave 4G off most of the time to save battery but it's not really what I intended when I bought this phone.
On seemingly random days, my phones battery dies a lot faster than usual. When I check battery stats it tells me quick connect is using up the most battery (40+%)
What is this quick connect?
How do I stop it from eating all my battery?
BTW I'm on complete stock rom
Not even rooted
