Revert to stock after Rom Viper 2 - HTC One S

Hi all.
I have a problem. I just bought this phone on ebay. Unfortunately I have not been very lucky .... The phone works fine, is S4, but the first flaw is that it was sent to me with the ROM installed on Viper Ones 2. Sins because, after the first few hours of use I have noticed that the display shows the persistence of the icons (especially the status bar) and there is a halo of yellow three-quarters of the display.
Reading around a bit, I read that this is known as screen burn-in that plagues many Amoled. Not a problem exaggerated, but it makes me angry.
Because the phone is under warranty, I would like to request the replacement of the display, but of course I should first return the phone to a factory state.
Since the Viper has updated the HBOOT to 2.15, I can not go back with the ICS RUU. A JB RUU does not exist .... So how do I restore a stock rom to bring it under warranty?
Someone can help me?
Thank you.

I am for a long on xda, you see that I do not know how to do a search ...? The problem of the research is that not always are used the right keys. Anyway thanks for the tip, I read the post, even though I only need a stock rom, but fully restore the phone. But to lock the bootloader I found other guides. Thank you.

Inspire 4G and the cyanogenmod (questions)

Im new to the android community and phones. I bought an Inspire with gingerbread (2.3.3) and would like to add cyanogenmod to it but the tutorials look so "harmfull" they scare me away so i have some question.
Can i downgrade from 2.3 to android v1?
Have anyone here rooted and flashed the same phone I have?
What is "radio? Can I change it to another one? how can I tell if it will work with my carrier?
please, please, please. READ
these questions you are asking concern me
1. you dont downgrade to v1....because it doesnt exist
2. we all have the same phone as you, otherwise we wouldnt have an inspire section
3. there is an entire thread dedicated to this very subject....look in the dev section.
there are easy to follow guides, tutorials, and walkthroughs here, but you have to READ...there is ZERO excuse for not reading and comprehending this stuff. if it is too much for you, you should NOT be doing any of it, and leave your phone stock
This is why I said..im NEW with this... none of what you helped in some way.

ALL the information you seek is already here, but you have to READ
Sorry if all you want is someone to hold your hand and spoonfeed information to you
NEW or not, it doesnt matter. I was NEW to this phone when i got it. I READ, the same way i have done with all my other phones. I READ to understand what i am doing and how to do it.

this question has come up several times in the last month. yes it works just fine
Hi, i just rotted the unit and everything was fine
So i decided to use, cyanogenmod, it installed
now i can make calls but it does not connect to the data network portion.
Any ideas?
I noticed the radio baseband is slighly different than the original. could it be?
Sorry. was quick. i entered the APN settings and it is now connecting.. just Edge....before (stock rom) i had "H" (guessing is 3G). Now it only connects to E (edge i assume).
The weird thing is that before whenever i was in an area with only edge It would not allow me to browse but now I can.
any idea jedi master?
you can try a different radio. look at the radio thread in the dev section
Sorry to bother you so much. I was able to solve the radio issue. Now, since the market app wasn't included i followed the guide on how to install gapps but after doing so i can't get pass the boot screen "touch the android to begin".
I try to wipe and reflash but still does not let me do it. Any ideas?
did you touch the android to begin?
Yes, sir. But it will still restart.
i try to wipe data and restart the process but same thing happens.
Tried taping the four corners and an still happening.
Someone said the the gapps file might be corrupted.
Right now cyanogenmod is a pain. is there a way to install another room or the stock one through recovery?
Thanks for all your help!

boot into recovery
go to mounts and storage
mount usb storage
on your computer, copy the rom zip onto the phone
back,

First android device, have a question.

Hey , I'm new here so ill say hi too. Anyways , a week ago I got a Desire S for my birthday and before i had an ipod touch. I know that jailbreaking an ios device is easy and if you mess up you simply restore. What about an android device? What are the risks of rootibg and can you restore itback to its original state for warranty purposes? Are the roms there any roms available for daily use? ( 3.2.5, sense 3.5 , ice cream sandwich? ) Thanks in advance
Oh and, if ill decide to root what should I do / save to uunroot?
Android's are usually quite easy to restore. Just download the RUU thingy, available on this forum.
this thread is really good
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1146601
just give a good read through all the threads in the guide section.
I've found that it's not easy to brick an android device or mess something up. All you need is a backup of your rom (which you'll understand after reading the guides) and you should be safe.
Well all I need to do is save my ROM? How do I do that?
Also what are kernels and radios and hboots? completely newbie to this..

Well I couldn't really find anything about kernels and radios, and to backup my ROM I need a rooted device? What if its too late? How can I know if I have a faulty chip?I don't want to wreck my device...
Well there's not much you can do if your chip is faulty, but you can do things to stop your phone breaking.
Never pull the battery out is a key one. If you have to, try pressing volume up + down and the power button at the same time. There are also other things you should do. Ben Pyett is great with helping about the eMMC problem
The radio and hboot is something you shouldn't worry about. I've never bothered messing around with them and you really don't need to.
Kernels are flashed in the same way as ROMs. Through clockworkmod recovery or 4ext recovery. Whichever you want. All you have to do is choose the right one for the ROM you're flashing ie a sense kernel for a sense rom. In the desire s section you'll find 3 sense kernels and 1 aosp kernel. AOSP are ROMs like cyanogenmod which don't have any GUIs like sense. With two of the kernels ( Hyperion and Endymion) you must choose the right version of sense. Hyperion is for sense 3.0 and Endymion is for sense 3.5 and the unity kernel can be used for any version of sense.
Making a backup is easy. All you have to do is go into recovery and select the backup and restore option and choose backup. You must do this before flashing a custom ROM because if the install fails you'll have something to fall back on.
I've tried my best but if you still have more questions then ask.

Always make a nandroid backup, it just means if anything goes wrong you should be able to restore your phone to it's exact previous state.

Yep, the free version of titanium only allows one by one backup, but if you get the full version it can do multiple backups in one go
4ext recovery control is a paid app too, but I cannot stress how worth it it is!

Er can anyone send me Swype.apk and libSwypeCore.so? Wanna install swype..
Also , my dad really liked the 3.5 update so I tried doing the same on his Desire and well when its reaches "zerging root" it says that it failed with a sad smiley..
Could it be because he has a update available but won't install it? ( As its impossible for him because at the end of the New firmware download it says damaged file or something.. )

Hi
I if you use sense 3.5, swype is already built in. Go to the keyboard settings and turn htc trace on.
Swype away!
However if you want full swype, its a beta, I recommend just signing up on their website to get the apk, its free
Not to sure about your dads desire, best bet is to ask the desire forum

[Q] Help on rooting Inspire4g

Hi all,
I am new to this community and new to smartphone.Very recently i got Inspire 4g with android version 2.3.3.I am very much interested in updating it to ICS.But from internet sources i have heard that HTC will most probably not give updates to Inspire 4g.So,the only option left to me is rooting. So,can someone kindly suggest me actually how to root my android device to ICS from scratch.I know nothing regarding rooting except that rooting gives administrator privileges.
Any help is appreciated,
Thanks in advance!!
First, you don't root to ics. Second, try actually looking in the development section

Well before it gets out of hand look up the advance hack kit read it..then read it again and maybe once more..
2nd before asking a general ? Look up that ? Before you make a thread of it because there is 100+ threads already made with same ?s look up bootloops ,PD98IMG, GET TO know them just in case you slip and fall you know how to pick yourself up..

Inspire will NOT get an ICS rom officially. You can only run roms after rooting. HTC is not releasing an ics update for our phones, the desirehd will get one but you can only take advantage of that if you are rooted. and as mentioned please do a bit more searching, as all of your questions have been asked many times.
Another thing to keep in mind before flashing/installing an ICS rom, there is not a single ICS rom that is fully functional at the moment. With most of the ICS roms besides small bugs here and there (that is if they still have any) either the camera or videocamara or both do not work and will not work until the dhd gets the update. Most of the roms in the dhd forum will work with the inspire.
As i ha already been mentioned, read and rea some more. You'll find a lot of nice "toys" to play with.

Just like the 2 members said ics has some bugs I used it from some other devs and from having a good cam and video to work was important to me and yes you can use 3 rd party but was not all that good.
Also understand the importance of backups this is some info I posted else where but its nothing special may help or so...
No need to say sorry lol...your ok just hate so the new ones get cyber yelled at by some mod and close your thread and not getting your answer.
But even though it maybe not be for the rom that your running but also check out the Q&As of those Roms.
And also I know the htc inspire thread for ROMs is always on top of the game here but just letting you know as well Desire HD forums is I would say you should go for the most recent ROMs and updates etc.. And yes Desire HD can be used for the Htc Inspire so thats where Im at for the most part..
But if you ever get a boot loop form a rom you flash make sure you fully wipe (sorry just funny every time.you will see what I mean) from rom to rom unless other wise...If you still happen to have the PD98IMG file still on your sd card happens when you 1st root and for get that its there delete I use Es File Explorer to find whats on the sd card there are others astro file manager. Also This happen to me once when I flash scripts, gps fix, kernels then the rom that I was going to use and it just totally F'd my phone or re boots random or just gets stuck on the htc screen..
But I had made this post for another user (new) maybe this may help:
So this is an idea of what I do when I flash a rom and some other ideas/tips.
Getting Started or Flashing A Rom:
Once you root your phone (this is not in any order really) you should get ROM Manager aka Clock Work Mod. Once you get that, open the CWM and the first top half you will see flash clockworkmod recovery make sure your on wifi I would at least for the updates. You will see a dialog box click desire hd. This will allow you to make back ups of your settings that you made when you flash a rom its always a good idea to make your backups its a life save!! So, once you made your back up and this is what I do.. I plug in my phone to the pc switch to disk mode which will let you see whats on your sd card. Since you flash the CWM and recovery you will see on your sd card a folder called clockworkmod open then backups folder you will see you back that you made, drag and drop that backup file that you made to your fold that you made on pc to save it for later. And thats pretty much how I save my backups of roms etc.. Now if you need to load that back up just plug phone in disk mode cwm fold>backup drag and drop back up that you need. And boot into recovery mode and select back up and restore and select restore and the file boot and your good..
I would download which Rom I would like to use. Save it to pc to a folder that I have made that I store all my roms, backups, radios & rils, kernels..etc.. just to keep myself organized. Once you get your rom just drag and drop it to the ROOT of the sd card do NOT add it in any folder thats on the sd card. Once you have it on the card just boot into recovery flash your rom.. Other then that its easy to flash the rom.. And when you get all your settings set up make a back up and when done save it to the pc and delete it from the sd card if you dont want to keep on the card I do that..
When it comes to battery life it depends on what the rom.. But I like to use killers http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...ht=killersolth scripts for the kernels.. For me I always flash a different kernel upon flashing a new rom. For me having the kernel and killers script is the best combo for me to have for performance and battery life.. now since I have inspire I use the uv lites scripts.
For the most part flashing radios & Rils you would never really need to do that so I wouldnt recommend it for now maybe later but read about it its good to know what it does..
Other sides which I for got to add.. When you flash a new rom its always good to wipe user data.,cache, delvik it makes it for a good clean install with other roms..
Also the desire HD thread which the inspire can use the roms from that thread to.
Well I hope this helps you in any way.. if you need help PM me best of luck

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1450962
and a stock ROM from here http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-inspire-4g-att/software-updates
So,i have a doubt now.In case if i screw up something while rooting can i go to stock(right now i have 2.3.3) and which is the better ICS ROM available for Inspire 4g for a starter like me without any bugs.
Any help is appreciated,
Thanks in advance!!
Well once you root your phone its rooted just can't add a stock Rom to it to make it stock. There is thread in the inspire forum called returning to stock or something like that like as in stock out of the box the members name is genepool I think I had to use that to unroot ny friends phone it was very easy ... So keep in mind that you need to unroot to go back to out of the box stock Rom.
As you may know as my other post always make a recovery of what you have on your phone just in case.
Sandy I also messaged you about your ?s to the ICS roms

your best bet (imo) would be to check out the ace hack root kit...and read that thing repeatedly...that's what I used to root mine...as for roms go...every ics rom as stated before has some sort of bugs or errors...you will just have to try some that you like the best.....keep in mind to ALWAYS backup...backup...and backup again to be sure in case you jack something up...this site has TONS of info if you search for it..lol

There are a few good ics roms, but none will be rock solid until its released officially to the DHD. Then we can have some goodness here on the inspire. The few that are out there are solid enough for now.
Welcome to xda, big rule is to learn to search. That question could have been answered very quickly by searching. I won't give you the names of the Ics roms out currently for that same reason. Search and ye shall find.

My friend so will all the replies and input I would say find what rom you like or seems very popular so if you need anything you know that thread is "alive", root your phone, backup, and flash the rom that you pick out. Once you do that go through all the set up.. and take that backup and save it to your pc(thats what I do) not to throw you off track here but there is kernels that will help out battery life like I stated in one of post. I would also look into kernels, which kernels are very easy to flash and scripts to match with the kernel but I think your ready

I have been watching this video to unroot http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0eMcpoTPMU in case if i screw up something.I have a doubt with what the guy is doing. In that he downloads the Froyo Stock rom from internet. But,my doubt is what if we alreay have the file with us,how can we flash it.I have downloaded the stock rom(Gb) from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1208507&highlight=inspire+s-on.
So,how to flash the above file?
Thanks in advance!!

Ok, if you want to revert to stock and S-ON use Gene´s Method. Put the file (named PD98IMG.zip) in the root of the sdcard and the boot in hboot.
Never flash a froyo RUU if your phone is running GB. You will mess the bootloader. DON´T USE YOUTUBE TUTORIALS, just do the homework and read.
Have in mind that if you mess your phone no one but you will care. You can also use the last version of the Hack Kit to revert to stock and S-ON....
Thanks for the reply,Yes,i downloaded the gb stock as i was shipped with it.
My phone is an unlocked one. Will i have any problem while rooting, please advice as I am thinking that the stage is set for me to root my device and flash an ICS rom.
Thanks in advance!!

Your phone is an unlocked one? Where did you buy it from?
This is quickly turning into a "please hold my hand while I root" thread....

Hello guys. Hey so I'm from the Samsung phone side of flashing and am not new to this. But i do have one question . What rom can I use and still be able to go back to stock? Im thinking that if I stay away from the 1.8 ruu stuff I'll be ok? And if I do how do we return to 100% stock . Thanks ahead of time for your insight and help
No one can answer
you need to root using the root method, then install a rom that is based on 1.72 whatever. If you want to go back stock, use the 1.72 ruu.
But if I try the newer 8 series then I'm stuck on that
Yes, you're stuck, until bootloader is unlocked.

any roms available
Hi,
I Have an Rogers HTC One x
Evita 1.73 ......
Bootloader Unlocked
Rooted and CWM install
I just followed JSLEnterprises method to debrand ...
now I have a clean HTC Vanilla XL .. as they say
Looking to try new Roms, are their any available that or compatible with my device, or I should I just patiently wait for flashable
why dont you visit the dev section and see for yourself?
didnt think CWM was working at all at the moment
Wow man chill i did and I just wanted clarification. And I never said I used cwm just talking about the ruu roms we have . Why is everyone so quick to flame and jump , some people like to be sure that's the case so they don't get in hole they cant get out of. Thanks for your concern but that's what forums are for to help each other
One of the devs just figured out how to downgrade
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671135
As always though...be careful.

No butthurtness lol my bad buddy. Just use to flames . And thanks for being in the hox scene as a dev!
Next question do you guys think any ruus are better than stock and which one is recommended thus far

Well for one thing, don't use the 1.85 RUU that just got leaked today until root is regained for it. I'm running 1.82, though I'm hard pressed to find any improvement since I didn't have any problems beforehand (like the WiFi problems people were having on 1.73). Maybe a bit smoother? Idk.
That's my dilemma my phone runs great it has its moments but all in all good. But I like to tinker and its hard not to . I'm looking for some good reasons to and against . Any feedback is great thank you

I mean, some things might go wonky if you don't do a factory reset before and after flashing the 1.83 RUU and tried to root. I know that two people (one of them being me) lost our lock screen rings after running the root script for 1.83. Re-RUUing with wipes fixed everything.
Otherwise you really have nothing to lose by doing this besides maybe your warranty and whatever time you have to spend setting up your phone again (TiBu is a godsend)
I have paid for many apps.to save me time in the whole dev side. I have also.made a few eons for Samsung.infuse but never let them out because people are.crazy. I'm used to Samsung and all new to HTC
Sorry for bothering you !!!!

Not important anymore (for now)!
Check the dev section...EXTREMELY major progress just happened with unlocking our bootloaders.

Undecided noob getting started.

Hey guys, new to the forum, literally first post.
I have an AT&T One X though i'm not even in the US and i'm considering rooting for a few reasons. I've been gathering my info and thinking it over before i decide to even try. I've read the pros and cons of rooting on a number of sites and i know most people here will be pro (if not all) lol.
What i read:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671237 -Top guide, will rate now that i am registered, a bit overwhelmingly though
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=619153 - [Newbie Guide] adb/fastboot/bootloader/android 101
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1784459 - HTC One XL Terminology Glossary v1.2 [2012/09/30] (filled in a few of those missed stuff)
Also the Wiki and some other random threads
For the rooting process: I spent a few hours reading most of djrbliss and hasoon2000 's rooting threads (because i'm on 2.20) and i'll go rate and thank them too even if i don't root in the end.
So basically what i actually want to know is there anything else i should look into before i get started?
I'm also undecided on a ROM as yet because i need it to have a few certain features though i'm not sure they are available in all or none
1) Ability to backup apps and app data (I believe Titanium Backup Does this, but i mostly wanted one to use BEFORE the rooting process)
2) Get rid of that bloatware (It's not really an issue as it can be disabled) but for the very least switching out the boot screen will work
3) Probably the most important is getting OTA updates (I can't get them in my country, because i'm not on ATT) and if i have to wipe to do an update i might as well switch to a ROM that doesn't have that problem.
Post is really long now that i look it over lol, thanks for reading.
Man I'm glad you've been doing research, it sounds like you at least have a grasp of what's gonna have to happen. You didn't mention if your on att, telus, rogers, ect. Att users have to go through the entire process, while all other carriers can just unlock through htcdev and flash twrp (recovery) then superuser (root).
Follow the guides carefully, don't be tooo nervous... if you get stuck, don't panic and start resetting everything... taking an extra minute to ask us on here will save you sometime later.. good luck
EDIT: sorry I just seen you stated your not on att... follow directions on htcdev... you'll be good

I followed the HTC One X All In One Kit, and it doesn't seem to get the job done.
I get CID 111....
I got my code from HTC Dev
I drop bootloader unlock on there
but when I get to the recovery portion it says that it transfers correctly etc,
However, when I am in boot and click 'recovery' , i get a white HTC splash screen that says "quiety brilliant' that you normally see, but with some red disclaimer text below. It just hangs there until i do something.
What is wrong?

Well i'm on a local carrier in Trindad, but it's the AT&T One X, unlocked of course. So i would still have to do the entire process right? Or have i been wasting all my time overthinking this? -_-

From fastboot type "fastboot oem getcid" if it shows CWS__001 then yes you have to do the entire process.
Moderating from my One Xl
Or fastboot getvar cid.

So you've completed the process on htcdev, and they emailed you the unlock token? Drop that in your fastboot/adb folder and use the command prompt that htcdev says (sorry I forget) ..
Once you do that you'll be bootloader unlocked... nothing fancy here yet... if your NOT on att, you should be able to download goomanager from play store and install recovery script.. now we playin with the puss! Download SU zip, install (flash) through recovery. Now you should be set up for flashing the goods..
Fellow xda'ers, please correct any wrong info I provided as I'm slightly buzzed lol

Okay, so it's been over a month and i finally got around to checking the CID and it's " CWS__001" as expected.
Will look to use Hasoon's tool and post my updates.
Thanks for the help from everyone so far.
Moving slowly as i was waiting to see the AT&T 4.1 update and still not seeing the ROM that i want for certain.

If you mean you are waiting to receive and install the JB OTA, you shouldn't wait. See item 2 on the following post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2181929

I was waiting to see what it contained. Nothing I can use here in Trinidad. Since I have to wipe to update anyway I'll be looking for a better os. Clean ROM appears to be closest to what I want though i kinda need the OTA.
Will get to hasoon's tool soon enough.
Hey, quick question:
Is there a listing of ROMs where i can see what each one does? I kinda understand what CleanROM and Senseless do but most of the rest i don't understand. Searched around for what i'm asking for but i mostly just get a listing of available ROMS.

The OP for each (usually) gives a complete summary. I don't think anyone has collected them all, which would be pointless anyway because the devs are always updating them.

Yep, i know about redpoint's guide, i have it open almost constantly, but it doesn't provide a description of what each ROM does, have to read through as Elvis suggested.
It's on XDA just not in this forum, it showed up as a result when i tried a google search.
Well I can tell you if you haveny noticed in original dev section most roms if not all are cm10.1 based or aosp based... In the regular dev section they're mostly sense 4+ roms with each having its own tweaks

those are my rom lists for the evita
please give thanks if these files are helpful, if not i think ill take them down and post them a different way.
Thanks to Divine and box (i'm not going to call you kittens :silly.
Something that just occurred to me though; do the telus and rogers ROMs have the restriction on tethering, reverse tethering and other android features? I noticed most of the developers are working from the AT&T ROM base which seem to have those restricted. (I could be misinterpreting)
Thanks Divine for that list, a bit confusing at first but i'm closer to my ROM choice. Still have a few questions:
1) Does cleanROM provide an OTA service? Or do i have to factory reset to do an update every time?
2) Viper seems to be highly rated for it's stability and features, however can i turn off all those themes? Plus what are all these features? I'm not sure i need them.
3) Rebelrom Senseless seems to be interesting too but what is the advantage of being closer to stock Android on an HTC device?(This one might be subjective)
4) I'm also liking the look of Hakta, so i'm asking if this one has OTA or have to factory reset to update as well?
I would ask the developers themselves but i'm too unimportant to post in their threads or pm them lol.
Thanks again to anyone who has the time to answer.
@ box YNWA! Though i'm not a Chelsea hater lol.
@ Divine that second link is hilarious, but you should warn persons about the volume of the first one, it almost blew my eardrums off. (I only use headphones)

1) clean Rom does not provide an ota service but you could expect one more full update for it then it'll be done with updates fir a while
2) viper comes basically stock it has a whole variety of themes you can choose..from my experience it's been amazing and great battery life with a great equalizer too for music(uses telus base I think)
3) rebel Rom keeps the sense camera and some other stck sense applications ..it basically gets rid of the sense launcher and you'd be on nova or your choice of an alternative launcher.. great battery life
4) hatka..is an interesting one, from my experience I didn't have any bugs and the audio is great with acid audio
Side notes: only one actual custom Rom is running the att jb base and that's clean Rom.. I think tethering works on every Rom but I couldn't promise..
And just consider yourself a loser unless you hate chelsea!
I've been a hatka user for quite some time and I must admit it is near flawless. It uses many battery/performance tweaks and when paired with elemental it's just beautiful. Plus it's the only rom with built it AC!D which is pretty much pure sex coming out of your headphones. Hope this helps!
