Cranium kernel #3....install problem. - HTC Pico (Explorer)

I am having a little problem here with installing apps in jaggyRom 3.2.1 with cranium build 3.
It errors "couldn't install on USB storage or SD card".
This is only for some apps. Some apps do install.
This problem is only with this kernel, checked another kernel no issue(the same app installed).
How to fix?
Can somebody help?
Hit "THANKS" It encourages me.

I don't think so..we can if we study Linux and kernels first. sakindia was the dev of that project and that was his First project, when he came here. But he tried to fix it, but wasn't able to He even had a build 4 with the same bug. (not updated in op) and so,he never fixed it.
However after some time...when cm7/9 development started kicking in, derefas/lirokoa fixed it,if I remember right.
It should still be in cm7/9 threads within first 15 pages I assume. However it was built for cm.if you have to make it work on sense, you should change ramdisk as that of sense. Simple for some members here. (but I don't have the instruments to do it. )
So, there you go.

If it has something to do with RAMdisk, can't we simply unpack cranium 3 and 2 and replace RAMdisk from 2?
Will it make the resultant UNusable?
At least cranium have no such problem.

The working kernel 3 is in cm9/7 thread .
You should unpack it and put the cranium 2 ramdisk in it to make it work theoretically. The problem you're facing is not in the ramdisk, but in the kernel part itself, which was fixed and put in the cm thread. So, cranium 3 fixed will work for cm (so it'll work because of cm ram disk. )).
If the fixed kernel should be put in sense, then you should simply change cm ram disk to sense ramdisk.
Obviously as said before, I can't do it due to lack of instruments .
Hope you'd understand.

In jaggy ROM 4.1 thread danceoff have mentioned in change log that,
Fixed the not install problem.
I think I should take the boot.IMG from that and simply use in 3.2.1.
Sounds ok. What do you think?

[WIP][ROM] Eclair (Android 2.1, .32 kernel), need some help ;)

I have picked up an old project I was working on, getting Eclair on our phones.
Now you might think, why Eclair, it is much older than Froyo and we already have Gingerbread!?
The answer is simple, just because we do not have Eclair roms for our phones
Some people here think newer is always better, but that is not always the case
Eclair is already booting, but I have some FC's and launcher does not work correctly. Neither any other things work.
I was trying to get a logcat, but could not connect using adb.
Perhaps someone else can give me a solution for enabling adb?
What did I use to get eclair booting up?
Froyo bootimage
Compiled Eclair using Froyo-libs and kernel.
If you want to take a look at it, here is a pre-pre-alpha where nothing works
It is not the latest, because I'm already solving some problems.
Reserved for future use

First: Congrats
Second: Provide some logcat, maybe you have same problem as mine in OMFGB (missing resources in apks)
Third: Upload to your gitHub,I'll have a look
BTW: Could you check if you have any /build/core/kernel.mk? Really getting mad with that error on CM6.
Could not get any logcat
But it's solved
Launcher is working now!
Updated build.prop, checked if some files existed, but some were missing.
Guess I forgot something in device-files
Now working on sd-card mounting, gsm and wifi, if these are fixed I will provide an updated zip (this zip contains generic build.prop )

Non-working RIL could be caused from three things:
You missed LG services into makefiles/.rc files (if you want I can PM you some strings to add to .rc files)
Wrong libs (easy to check)
Non-prelinked libraries (define TARGET_PRELINKER_MAP (or some like that) into device_thunderg.mk and modify prelink-linux-arm-msm7xx7 or some like that with names of unlinked libs. You can see what stuff isn't prelinked with a debugging-enabled linker you can find into Swift-sense Mur4iK GT540 post. For prelink address, use google because I don't know
Would this have any actual speed benefit?
Sent from my LG-P500 using Tapatalk
You will absolutely encounter speed differences with Gingerbread.
You will even have more space available, romsize is rather small

If you can't contribute anything usefull, do not react here, I was glad SWEATTAIMI has stopped with it after many warnings and now you start

No, this one is just AOSP with some LG crap
And booting using original LG Froyo kernel for now
Seems most compatible
Perhaps later a custom kernel will be used
Sorry for this off topic, but, good job and good luck ^_^ i hope you can successfully do this i loved the older builds of android an would love to go back to it, i wish i could help in some way and this is the best i can do :3 but good luck

@rootSU: I think it does, because it scores almost the same as GB Sense ROMs, and it gets pretty decent FPS at Quadrant (certainly smooth enough), so I think it works fine.

chaoz tried including the wifi module you use in the kernel in the system/lib folder? can't find it there on the newest kernel. This messed things up for tristan earlier
Oh crap, forgot to supply the bcr4329.ko indeed.
I'm going to try to get a running 3.0 by tonight, if I don't have it finished this evening, I'll upload the WiFi module from the build (using 2 different OS's to work on, Linux for compiling, and Windows for everything else, and working in Win is much easier for me ;p)
Edit: beginning with the really lame methods of getting 3.0 to run, first attempt is done I think, just copied over files, and modified some of them, nothing really special, starting compiling in 5 minutes.
I flashed over p2 with the camera fix and the camera no longer works. Should I reapply the camera fix?

Chaosz-X first of all, thanks for the work you've done so far. I believe i can port it over to the n1 using the zip you uploaded. Second, please learn git so you can push your changes to github. (i know you said you hate git but, youre developing a kernel; in comparison git is way easier to understand) It will be much easier for other devs to follow your progress, and port your changes to other qsd8k devices badly in need of hwa.

Is this a bug with this cm10 unofficial port or is it something that hasn't been implanted/fixed in cm10 yet in general. I thought it was something they just haven't added to cm10 yet for phones that have both internal and external sd cards.
Personally, I don't see a point in this thread but here goes nothing.
Anyone who needs to know what works or not need only look at the CM10 build sheet and look to the CM9 list to see what works and what doesn't on the Infuse.
And when the Cyanogenmod team actually gets around to making a boot animation, I'm sure it will be just as good, if not better than the CM9 animation.
And once again, they are not "bugs", they are unaddressed problems, and I'm SURE someone is working on them as we speak.
Best thread for this

External SD can b mounted on the most recent build.
What logo r you describing as a bug? If you're talking about the boot animation, you can easily change it to anything u want and Scott's building from CM10 source so I'm pretty sure its not there either. I wouldn't think he would take out a CM10 animation and replace with CM9.
Edit: I forgot that Scott took the "8/5 butter" build down. That is where I can confirm working external SD to PC mounting but I guess right now 8/4 is technically the most recent build.

Why that is bad? In my opinion it is better, so everyone can use whatever he wants, that is the meaning of open source.
Ok it may not good too have x1000 cm10.1 roms and x1000 avatar roms (like in gb times), but having 1(or 2) of each rom type is quite good in my opinion.

OMGz, dey using exizting stuff!
Ok, seriously, this got sooooo childish over time. I really think nikez & the while team are doing an amazing job, fo' sure.
+ They are open source which is amazing.
So, why would anyone really rewrite the whole thing? Just to grow some imaginary balls? What would you do?
The only question is:
If they (Avatar & everyone who uses their sources) improve the existing stuff, do they also release the sources for everyone?
Have a nice day and please rethink your opinion about this and open source in general.
Sure they haven't mentioned Evervolv yet, but I hope they will edit OP soon and match the rules.
By the way, 99% of those you accuse of "kanging" don't even kang, so get your facts right.
Kanging implies that they use Evervolv code (in this case) and don't admit it.
(I don't even mention that they (EV) would be lost without CAF, Google, CM sources etc.)

Not carrying on the rant over here lol but Come on guy's the whole Rom is not evervolv's just because they ported the Rom DONT make every single app or code in the rom theirs. Yes they may have coded SOME things but NOT everything. So what if the OP used most of the current avatar rom he HAS THE RIGHT to because android is OPEN SOURCE. I am fed up with members on xda all they care about is THIS IS MINE NA NA NA NA NA get a grip of yourselve's are you really going to act like a child for a few codes and a few apps ???? My 2 year old daughter would laugh at you for acting more like a child than she is. Come on guy's developers should SHARE not argue and point the fingers at eachother. And if people didnt KANG or whatever the hell you want to call it then where would most of the rom's on xda be ????? Every developer os sense Rom's KANGED HTC do you see them coming on here chucking their dummy's out the pram ???? because i dont see them doing that. I think it is sad it has to come down to developers arguing like children over some damn files when they should be sticking together like a comunity should. This is why most good hearted developers LEAVE xda because the developers are selfish and act like children. That's all i have to say on the matter. Now i tend to my CHILD. Take care xxxx

I don't understand why everyone starts to accuse people of basing their rom on others' source. Isn't that the whole poing of open source and sourse sharing?
This way, google should accuse and sue every single developer for using the Android source.
So lets just enjoy this ROM, and appreciate that there are still people who work for this device.
Okay I tested this rom and I have to say it's fast but 2 bugs : There is no signal ( probably simcard not detected but not sure) , graphical glitches ( everywhere, not only in YouTube app, the screen kinda tears and acts weird, everyone should know what I mean) . I tested it for a while and that's the bugs I found. It's fast ROM but the glitches and other bugs make me to not use this ROM for now.

@Rawwr :- I have used CM9, 10 & 10.1 and I can say as on Today Only CM7 is the most stable and complete rom for Defy/+. CM7 beats CM9, CM10 & CM10.1 on the ground of performance / stability.
@v2dare / Maniac :- Its nice to see that Maniac is still working on CM7, Can Maniac port Walters Custom Kernel (GB) in upcoming builds?
Thanks

I understand, I get caught up because I faced many frustrations on CM10 based roms, it abandoned me several times on which I needed it a lot. While I absolutely glorify our developers, our devices just can't seem to handle it.
So I was just expressing my opinion as well
Xperia D sounds like a great rom, I used it some versions ago but experienced some menu lag.
Does it support proxy settings globally?
Thanks for sharing those links with us..
Maybe maniac is tired writing in english
Thanks guys..

I agree that cm7.2 is the most stable rom for defy. I have defy plus (526) but it causing me problems. An error "com.phone has stopped working" if you know that one, is this problem fixed in this rom?
What do I need to do in order to downgrade to this version from quarx cm10.2 (android 4.3)?

first download aroma wiper (search the forum for that)
then format everything that is /data /system /cache using aroma wiper to ext 3 format
then install the zip of this rom
also
u can format /data /cache to ext3 usin bootmenu but I personally recommend aroma wiper as it wipes /system as well so u can get clean rom
p.s. - u can use clockwork mod recovery by downloadin dual recovery zip from development sec or if u r using twrp then after opening recovery dont run anything for at least 20--30 sec cause sometimes twrp crashes in the beginning but if doesn't crash then u can run aroma wiper
Mmm, still have the same problem as the last maniac rom, only worse now. When I make a call the screen goes black like normal, then at the end of the call it stays black and the only way to get my display back is to pull the battery and reboot.
