Can I use my Nexus4 as a wifi repeater? - General Questions and Answers

Basically my laptop is mediocre and refuses to connect to my schools wifi. My Nexus 4 does connect to my schools wifi.
I tethered a data connection from my N4 to my laptop and it works fine but it sucks a lot of data. Is there a way I can tether WiFi (not mobile data) to my laptop from my N4?
I try and use the built-in tether but it forces itself onto my data plan in order to tether, I want to stay on my wifi.

Try this:

fqrouter2 is the solution
Use fqrouter2 for rooted Android devices and you have a perfectly working WiFi Repeater (available free in Google Play Store)

[Q] WiFi Hotspot to a router

Before I had my Charge, I had an Imagio running WinMo 6.5. On that phone I ran an app called WiFi Router to share my Verizon Internet. The cool thing was that my phone cold also connect to my home Belkin router and as long as every other device was on the same network, they would all see the Internet via the Belkin (even the wired devices).
Now I have my Charge rooted and I am running Barnacle with no problems. But to share my Internet with all of my devices, I have to have a PC with a WiFi card and a Wired NIC then run ICS (Internet Connection Sharing)... yuck!
Is there any way I can share my Charge's Internet the same way I did on my Windows phone?
If there were a way to have the WiFi running at the same time as Barnacle, it might work as I need/want.

[Q] tethering a wifi connection that the cell is using to a pc?

what i want to do is to use an external wifi connection that my android phone is receiving, on my pc. in other words, the phone would work as a wifi adapter for the pc (because i dont have one in my pc). i tried usb tethering, but it lets u use only 2g/3g connection, not wifi.
any app which can do this?
Hmm normally it should work with wifi too.
Try to deactivate 3g while you're tethering.
Otherwise try apps like pdanet or another one but I forgot the name.
Sent out of my Free Candy Van.
your talking about reverse tethering and yes flussen is right just turn of mobile networks and it should work and ive seen this done using wired tether 1.4 from google.
ok, it works with data connection turned off.

I don't understand...you are basically using your Blackberry/laptop configuration to make a mobile hotspot, right? If the Xoom can access the wifi signal for one app it should be able to for any app. Maybe I'm missing something. Can you give more explanation?

I connected my blackberry bold which has 3g to my laptop which broadcasts the connection via wifi. The chrome browser and android market and other goodies apps connect but installed apps don't connect. Plus I recently bought a huawei e5 mobile 3g wireless router. I got my xoom connected to the network but right now only the browser goes online,. The other apps just do not. I don't know what other piece of detail I can give other than the fact that my Xoom wifi is not connecting to 3g networks broadcast via wifi. Any ideas?
This is really very strange... I switched my 3G-Xoom into flight mode and then activated WiFi (so it basically behaves like a WiFi-only Version) and connected it to my mobile (Samsung Galaxy S) and all apps are able to access the internet. Connecting ist to a UMTS-Router (Option GlobeSurf) also worked like a charm...
Did you try to connect your Xoom to a WiFi-Router at home (= Internet access via cable not UMTS)? Does this work or do you encounter the same probs?

VPN Passthrough software?

Very quick question.
I've got a Wii at my girlfriends however I want it to use my VPN at home, for which the Wii provides no way of doing so.
Is there anyway I can connect to my girlfriends wifi, run some software on my phone which will turn the phone into a hotspot using my girlfriends wifi as the data connection, but pass all traffic through my VPN at home?

Can't stay connected to WiFi if it provides no Internet

Hi
I am trying to use my Z3 with my GoPro Hero+ which works via an ad hoc wifi network. It works for most functions but when I try to download media over the WiFi it drops out. The phone says there is no Internet on that wifi so it won't use it again. Obviously there is no Internet, it's a camera!
Is there any way to force the phone to stay connected to a wifi network even when there is no Internet? I'm rooted and running stock 5.1.1
