No, wipe everything and reflash the right one. You should use TWRP so...
Depending on your bootloader version don't forget to 'fastboot flash boot boot.img' within fastboot mode. Remember: **** happens...

For stock ruu you need to be on stock recovery, your device relocked. You can always do that after you've tried it the easy way. :good:

i completly forgot about the relocking...thank you so much

half brick htc one s s4
Hi, so after upgrading to MIUI.us_ville_v4_2.11.16_Eng_Deo_ZipA_Signed_linds6630 for some reason my htc one s s4 storage usb sotrage stopped working and now even wifi wont work, I've tried wiping installing many times and it didn't help.
So I went and flashed stock recovery and locked bootloader I got the ruu file and now it wont flash as I get signature error so went to check mainver and there is a problem it's all blank. I've tried to use mainver error fix from all in one toolkit ver3.3.1 and no luck as system can't mount sd. when on custom recovery windows couldn't recognize file system so i only had an option to format the storage, I didn't want to do that as miumi starts and I was affraid that this operation will wipe some data and I loose phone completely. So what can I do next, can you help me please?

Help i think I bricked my phone

Hey Guys,
I tried pretty much everything and don't know what else to do. My phone just stays stuck on the android screen. I forget that the "SD card" in this phone is actually part of internal storage, I did a factory reset and lost everything.
I tried flashing different boot.img and getting nothing. I'm afraid I need to get a rom onto the sd card but how is that possible if I cant get my phone to boot up.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
volume down button+power button try this combination until u get in the bootloader then select recovery. once in recovery just restore a backup if you have one, you should have one
i dont have a backup and i have nothing on my "sd" to i can install. I have formatted the ROM and thats why it wont boot..
If you can get into Recovery (CWM) in the advanced settings if i remember, there's a "format sd card" to make it work with the installation of a custom ROM
I posted a tutorial for how to do this:

thanks for the guide but im getting error mounting /sdcard. and if i follow cannondale0815 solution for that problem when flashing the stock and cwm I cannot access recovery mode.
Clear Storage in fastboot and re-install CWM then try it. That's how I got mine to work
Ok if your bootloader is locked and you have a custom recovery first flash stock recovery then boot into fastboot and run "fastboot oem lock" After that restart your phone and boot back into fastboot. Then run the RUU for your model and cid. easy.
Follow the steps which might work
1, If you knows something about adb, you can just simply push a rom into the sdcard(You don't need to do this if there is already a flashable rom in the sdcard), flash the kernel in fastboot, go to the recovery, wipe and flash a new rom. Then everything(except your data) should be fine
2, If you are not able to use adb push, or you have never flashed a recovery/3rd-party rom/ or you have other issues:
Using the RUU updater might be safe and simple (of course everything except those in the sdcard will lost)
a, relock the hboot using "fastboot oem lock"(or the RUU will refuse to continue)
b, run the RUU updater, wait for ~10min, your phone will be "refreshed" to something like the 1st day you bought it, except the Hboot will say it is "RELOCKED s-on"(this should be LOCKED s-on at first)
c,unlock your phone again(if you have stored the .bin file for unlock, just push it to your phone in the fastboot mode which is enough already, it is not needed to do the whole process in HTCDEV again.)
IMPORTANT: the RUU updater and the phone must be the same area. for example an Europe's RUU can't be applid to an US's One S
This is also the only method to update the Radio software, unless the hboot is S-OFFed

I have tried factory reset from hboot, my cwm recovery, and i cant find a custom rom. I have extracted the rom.zip from my original ruu found on htcdev. I put it on sd card and tried flashing thru recovery and thru hboot. I try doing fastboot, with the system.img and it actually crashes my pc, and when loading thru hboot, i get stuck at parsing .zip
I think you need to ask people who are more familiar with HTC devices. Type "htc rhyme" in the search bar at the top right of this page.

I did, believe me, I have spent hours and days googling, and every similar situation ppl have, the soution doesnt work for everybody, lol, and I just happen to be one of them. My rhyme is an upgraded OTA, from the original stock rom which is an ruu: RUU_Bliss_C_VERIZON_WWE_1.26.605.6_Radio_1.15.00.0816_NV_VZW2.67_release_214911_signed, and when i try running the ruu installer it says; From:image version 2.0.0.134076
To: 1.26.605.6, After 16% PROGRESS, ERROR [155]: UNKNOWN ERROR, The ROM upadate uti;ty couldn't update, please find correct RUU and update again. I dont know what else to do, ive been researching for a while and so now im in the XDA forums asking for help, before i was just searching for anything related to this problem with HTC rhyme, and not much about the rhyme it self is out there for support in these situations, so ive been researching the issue with all htc devices, and even android in general. I'll admit i am a noob at androids, but im actually pretty familiar with OS's and computers period. All help is much appreciated too, so thank you and if you know something i dont, please feel free to let me know where I am screwing up. I can get My CWM on it, and actually before all this, i had CWM touch recovery, somehow i lost it too and had to put the one i have now on it. i also parsed thru hboot my boot.img, and recovery before, , and it said it was successful. when doing system.img thru the PI46img.zip with boot and recovery, it freezes on parsing, and if i fastboot the system.img, it causes my computer to freeze, and i got the system.img from the rom.zip out of this RUU, that i mentioned above. ive done all the wiping from recovery of partitions that ppl had mentioned, and still no luck, and also when trying to flash it thru CWm it always says installation aborted. tahnk s for responding too man, ive noticed most questions with The HTC RHyme, get the shaft....and thats why i feel like im at a deadend, and i dont know if there is some number out there for support in theses situations, because HTC wont help after the bootloader has been unlocked, and it would seem a lil easier having someone walk you through it on either a live chat or over the phone

Hi I really need help. I unlocked the boot loader from HTC Dev. Then rebooted the the bootloaderbfrom adb. The fastboot flash recovery. Everything was good until I pushed the mount through adb it gave me an error. Now every time I try a factory reset or try to go to recovery it takes me to the white HTC logo and nothing happens. Please help. The phone is switching on everything is working. I just can't factory reset or go to the recovery.

How do I fix this?

"Hi! I'm messaging you in regards to my issue while flashing Cyanogenmod 10. I will try to explain exact details of what happened. First I successfully rooted flash clockwork recovery mod superuser etc. using your amazing step by step videos. I decided to flash CM10. I did the beginning part by opening cmd prompt and doing the boot.img etc. While I was on fastboot mode I noticed you had an option for hboot. I did not have that option so instead I clicked Bootloader, opened into to recovery, and tried vigorously installing cm10 from sd card but it always said it could not open it and aborted it. I panicked and wipe data/cache/dalvik cache. I tried multiple times and I still could not install it. On the bootloader I decided to click Factory Reset. It took me too recovery but now I cannot open my sdcard and this error keeps popping up: "E: Can't mount". Now I am panicking big time because I know this could by a soft brick but I have no idea how to undo everything. Please help! It would be greatly appreciated! ".
This is the message i sent to the person who made the video but I am also posting it here because I was wondering how to undo all of this and fix it. This is his video he does a good job of explaning but I just want to fix this and get it back to normal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=elDvcVot7qo

This, also note what version your hboot is, 1.14 means you have to flash the boot.img first from fastboot before you can install that .zip fromTWRP

I just found out that there is a version specifically for the AT&T builds. Yeah I did that and corrupted my sdcard and now I'm stuck on how to reformat it. I have to admit I am quite a noob at this but I've been flashing since my old Samsung Captiviate.

Yes you're right I have to fastboot the boot.img first. I'm just stuck on how to get back because the CM10 I put on my phone was for a different version of the One X and I've corrupted my sd card.

I did exactly as you said and I did reformat SD from windows using TWRP and successfully flashed CM10/GAAPS etc. But my phone is just on a bootloop with the HTC screen popping up and a message saying "This build is for development purposes only. Do not distribute outside of HTC without HTC's written permission. Failure to comply may lead to legal action". Now what lol?

You'll always see that screen that's our splashy screen after we unlock our bl...but it seems as your forgetting to flash the boot IMG manually through fastboot AFTER you flash the rom

+1. You need to manually flash boot.img via fastboot first, and then flash the CM10 rom w/ GApps. fastboot flash boot boot.img
once you've flashed the boot.img via fastboot (hopefully that'll clear up your bootloop issue). There is an app around called FlashImageGUI for flashing img files (straight from the zip too) so you don't need a computer to flash the boot.img. This is a great timesaver.

Bricked After trying to install CM10

After trying to install CM10 Via TWRP my phone hung on the CM10 splash page.
I have tried to reinstall CM10 and I keep having the same problem.
I'm able to access TWRP but for some odd reason I can't mount my sd card properly. I'm not able to click "Mount sd card" on the "mount" page in TWRP. That being said I can't backup my phone from a previous backup.. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried holding down the power and volume down button for longer then 10 seconds or longer? this should force restart your phone, get into TWRP and try an other Rom for now, also did you try an international rom? international roms will not work.
UPDATE: I'm guessing your also can't recover your last back up because your on HBOOT 1.14 S-ON? 1.14 will not recover boot.img's
If you manage to get it to mount to your computer (Check your drivers are installed also, EG htc sync usb drivers) then look for a "one click boot img flash" unless you know how to flash them using fastboot commands, whenever you are to flash a room, extract the boot.img from the zip file, flash that in fastboot, THEN go to recovery and flash a rom. same goes for backups. S-off is a hassle.
My computer recognizes that the phone is being plugged into the computer but it can't install the proper drivers.
Sadly I can't get my phone to go into recovery either.

when in twrp recovery.
1. delete cache, dav. cache, and system restore.
2. reinstall the gapp files and the CM10 zip file.
3. reboot
The issue is that I can't get into TWRP
what did you do to it? phones don't just die and cm10 didn't kill it. are you sure you flashed cm10 for the evita?
also try flashing this version of twrp openrecovery-twrp-2.3.3.1-evita.img
also run "fastboot erase cache" after flashing then try going into recovery and wiping cache, dalvik, and external
I'm trying to fix it by using the HTC Android Phone ROM Update utility, but I keep getting the follow error.. "ERROR [140]: BOOTLOADER VERSION ERROR...
I'm not currently able to boot into TWRP to install a new ROM.

well if you've unlocked your bootloader you cant upgrade with anything to do with htc and that's sure to mess with it. you're on your own sources of updates, no OTA nothing. You need to install htc sync and adb drivers for your phone if that still doesnt detect then its a usb brick and I'm of no hope but others may be

I managed to relock my bootloader, but installing the stock RUU is still another story..
I can only get my computer to recognize that the phone is connected to my computer if I'm in Fastboot mode.
If you can't mount from recovery the sd got corrupted happened to me they have a fix if you do a few searchs. If you locked the bootoader and the computer only recognizes in fastboot that is good now run a RUU like 1.85

[Q] help with tampered, locked, ruu, s off etc

I have a one sv which:
is k2 ul
normally boots only to HTC screen (no quietly brilliant) and stays there till the end of times
shows tampered locked, which i now changed unlocked status (htcdev)
s-on
has twrp recovery on, but swipes fail mostly
flashing roms in twrp recovery show success but result is still HTC logo without being quietly brilliant
can not be ruu-ed beucause the ruus i find are i think older than required
hboot 2.21, radio 1.18 version
s-off fails because tho fastboot recognizes phone, adb doesnt in fastboot mode and in bootloader pc thinks it is not attached (tried xp, 7, 8.1 and many different drivers)
i am not sure if usb debugging was on before the phone crashed
so i can't put an older ruu because of s-on, i can't get s-off because rumrunner and moonshine can't work without adb, and basically that is it.
does anyone PLEASE have any idea what to do?
and yes, the warranty is over and the phone has gone to the warranty twice with bootloop before.
After flashing a rom, did you also flash the boot.img of the rom with fastboot cmd?
Thats necessary, because you are S-on.
And what TWRP is installed?

twrp 2.6.3.2
now i have made such progress that twrp tells me it cannot mount int sd and when booting, phone stays on the htc logo for some seconds and then switches off. i believe i have actually made it worse (didnt think that could happen).
EDIT: so i formatted the storage like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2576897 and it BOOTED
EDIT2: the phone now kind of works IF it boots. half of booting times it just switches off, the other half it switches off and then reboots and works. i think something is still kind of not good but i dont have the b***s atm to poke it more.
thank you all for your potential help.

it was this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2512742 which is, as i understand, your work, thank you very much, donations will happen when im a tincy bit richer
and i will wipe some time later when im at home and courageous enough.
You can also try to restore this TWRP backup.
great news! today the phone restarted itself and froze on the logo. i tried to start twrp but it froze on that logo too. tried to do a factory reset, which removed the "tampered" sign until next reboot but that was about it.
now i can't reflash twrp or anything at all, with the error remote: image update error. oh please save me again.
Does not sound good.
You can boot into bootloader? Is it locked or unlocked? Did you reflash the recovery to check if you can boot into it?
looks bad indeed.
i can boot into bootloader, which is unlocked. and please specify what do you mean by reflashing the recovery (pardon my stupid brain)
When in bootloader, connect your phone to fastboot and try to flash recovery again.
If you can't get into recovery, i don't know, if there is much i can do for you
fastboot basically tells me to go f* myself with the error "remote: image update error" what ever I try to flash. right now Im trying to find a way to reflash twrp from ext sd. not doing so great
Well, about your country flag i suggest you speak (or you can at least read) russian language.
Go to 4pda.ru and look for the posts of "MikG". He has made zip files, similar to RUU. They are flashed from bootloader/Ruu mode. Maybe they can bring your phone back to life.
I can't tell you how to use this files, because i don't speak russian.
I'll try, thanks.
edit: and it just refuses to cooperate. it kind of does something in bootloader, but still doesnt boot past htc logo or if i try recovery, it stays on teamwin logo. i dont know if im doing something wrong or what... maybe i'll wait for the 4.2.2 hboot 2.21 radio 1.18 ruu then because i really dont know what else i could do.
