Is it possible to have the rear camera take a landscape orientated picture while the tablet is physically in portrait mode? I quite often wander around shooting time lapse with my tab in my my top coat pocket, and it would be ideal to have that horizontal sized picture rather than the skinny vertical.
Or does anyone know of an app that can do this change? Time lapse landscape pictures while the tab is physically in portrait orientation?

I'm wondering if there are any apps that adjusts or replaces the auto rotate feature in android. I often find myself in situations where the orientation switches on me when I'm laying on my side or when I'm trying to see the screen because of an unexpecting notification, phone call or I'm just trying to get the phone out of my pocket.
I like to see an app where the orientation will only change if the specifide angle, tilt and time conditions are met. For example, if you want to switch from landscape to portrait. you hold it at a very exact angle of orientation (ie 90°+/-1°) at a specifide tilt (ie between 15° and 90°) for a specifide time (ie 500 ms) and then it will change from landscape to portrait mode.
I also like to see a setting were it will turn off auto rotate when the tilt goes beyond 90°, like when you lay down on your back.

I agree.
I find if I put the phone horizontally on a table it often will go into landscape mode. It is quite a pain to worry about the angle I put my phone on a table.
Customizing the tilt variables would be awesome.
I am still looking around the internet for a solution. If you find one let me know.
Have you noticed the windows store only views in landscape, even if you rotate your Surface and auto rotate is on(and works for other apps). I have noticed some other apps that don't work in portrait mode (Primetube). I understand that landscape mode is kind of the surface, but we should be able to use the orientation we want.
Annoying.
It's a lot of extra work for the developer to handle different aspect ratios. Some apps do it well, to be sure, but it's not a small thing that you're asking for. Often it means pretty much re-writing the layout code. This is especially true if they want to support different screen widths in different ways (at 768px, a Surface RT in portrait mode is going to have a very different amount of horizontal screen real estate than the 1080px of a Surface Pro).
I am utilizing a built in function named "getVerticalViewAngle()" to get the Vertical View Angle of Android Device Camera. The above function returns "63.8146" degrees as the Vertical Angle.
Now if I use the tablet on a tripod so that tilt is eliminated (Keeping tablet camera lens height as 900mm) and capture a picture of a wall at a distance of 1500mm, then 1800mm of the wall(vertical) is included within the picture. Calculating the Vertical Angle based on above scenario yields 61.9275 degress which is not equivalent to 63.8146.
Can anyone please explain why there is difference between Angle values?
Do I miss something or is it normal that the camera just take 180 degrees panorama picture?
If I'm on a scenic point, I often would like to take a 360 degrees Picture. But with the stock camera app it is not possible for me. After 180° it stop automatically.
I've had a ton of cell phones over the years and this is a first time I've had this problem. Every single photo that is taken on my phone with it sideways (You know like a normal photo is taken as if your using a camera) shows in thumbnails on my computer as being upright but if they are uploaded somewhere they always are 45*. Therefore I'm virtually forced to rotate each photo 45* the opposite direction then save the jpg. Is there some setting in the phone that causes this orientation issue as if the phone camera thinks photos are to be taken up and down where they are tall but skinny so when you turn it sideways to take a photo it's coding the image as being taken sideways? Like I said on the phone and in thumbnails on the computer they are upright but when they are opened on the computer or if they are uploaded places they are rotated 45*. It's very annoying and at this rate I might as well take the tall selfie like photos then crop the top and bottom off of each picture to turn it into a normally proportioned photo. LOL
Again this is virtually the first phone I've ever had that does this when you turn it sideways to take a photo.
