Help Pls, I think I've just Bricked my phone :( - Optimus One, P500, V Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've installed the new CM10 on my P500, It's working just fine, the problem is I have no GSM reception, it doesn't detect my sim card. When I upgraded from my GingerBread Void version, I wiped the system clean, and I do believe (knowing what I know know) that I've erased everything, including my baseband.
I've been looking into the problem and it seems that I should have kept the base-band (or something).
I've downloaded the LGMDP and the V20 Baseband in order to try to rewrite it. But no dice. After I hit download the End window shows nothing but the IMEI, no Bluetooth ADDR, nothing, just the IMEI.
Also no NV2 file is generated.
Does anyone have a clue?

Does it boot but not ask for the PIN to unlock the SIM?
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda app-developers app

Yes, it boots just fine. The CM10 works brilliantly ), smooth and clean, but I have no GSM, it simply doesn't detect my SIM. If I try to make a call it says something like "no network detected"

In the "about phone" menu, the baseband reads "Unknown"

Ok, I've been reading some more and It would seem that the phone is not literally "Bricked". I think I have to flash a stock rom back in order to get the right baseband. Please correct me if I am wrong because this is what I am going to do when I get home, being that I'm at work right now I have no way of testing anything.

Well if it boots, you haven't got a high-tech brick. I had a similar problem recently although I didn't check in any of the menus like you said. I knew when it didn't ask for the pin. For some reason it wasn't detecting the STK.apk although it was there.
Have you got some kind of file explorer (root enabled) installed? If so, check /system/app to see if STK is there. If not then you need to put it there (get it from another ROM). And edit the permissions to RW-R--R--.
As it was there for me, I tapped it so it installed (as a user app) and then uninstalled it and rebooted and it was fine. I guess it just needed reminding that it is, first and foremost, a telephone.
Formatting everything through recovery shouldn't wipe your baseband but if you still get nothing there are tuts here about flashing BB.
Hope you get it solved.
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda app-developers app

Hmm, thank you, I'll be sure to check that.

If you were on Void before you transitioned to cm10, most probably you may just have to flash an "old BB fix" ( available in many threads in this forum, just search) as Void was for old BB & all the current new ROMS including CM10 are on new BB. Avoid new BB flashing thru LGMDP or any other means as far as possible. old BB fix can be used without any side effects on CM 9/10 based ROMS.

If your using AmonRa recovery you have to mount system before you flash obb fix or it wont work.

At the moment I'm using Team Win recovery, but I'll definitely give that a try

digsf - did this solve your problem ?

Not at the moment, I've finally gotten home, I'm working on it right now )

Brilliant, I've got it working, I'd like to thank all of you, especially WidowCranky and 3ncrypt3d_Droid who gave me the right clues . The permission wasn't set on my TeamWin recovery and the BBFix Update wouldn't work. Set the permission right, flashed the fix. Works perfectly. Thank you all very much. I am officially on Jelly Bean

Congrats & enjoy.

There is another work around for that issue also, just to keep from having to apply the baseband patch after flashing ROMs. Instead of flashing P500 ROMs, flash P509 ROMs instead. The hardware is identical, only difference is baseband. P509 will always be old baseband as they never got official GB support from LG. Just a thought. That's assuming the dev for the ROM you are using builds for P509 too. Again, just a thought.

Glad you got it working, glad I could help, even if only in a small way.
Enjoy JB.

Please help! Notification bar issues

please help! I do NOT care about my root, I do NOT care about my data I just really want this to be fixed, I'm almost crying, I have no idea what to do, all i wanted was a custom battery so i downloaded one, loaded it into some app called metamorph and it said it was all good but when i restarted my phone the notification bar was gone. I cannot pull it down and this is my first android device, I have had it for 3 days and it cost me a lot of money! please help I will do anything whatsoever, I'm so worried, I'm only 16. I tried restoring my phone to factory settings, wiping my memory card as if that would do anything. please help it's all I ask!
Hi there, I have had this problem before. I am no dev so I can't explain the technical issue, but this usually happens when you flash a mod that's not compatible with your ROM... if its compatible and your ROM has updated, the mod sometimes needs to be updated to be compatible with the latest version of your ROM.
Reflashing your ROM will completely fix the issue. I hate to say it, but ALWAYS do backups before flashing anything through recovery!!!

He's not rooted it seems. You first need to calm down. Then, go to settings -> About phone and see what build you have. If it's 2.20 then go here. If it's 1.73 or 1.82 go here. If it's 1.85 then go here. Once rooted, if you have anything but 2.20 you won't need to flash the boot.img seperately. In order to flash the boot.img go here.

Is there possibly a way to revert to the original through "metamorph"? Most tweaks or apps like this only work on certain devices, so check the reviews or description more thoroughly if it doesn't say your device.

That happened to me on my old LG G2X. I tried to do something similar with a different program. It was messing with SystemUI.apk. I had created a backup before it did its work so I just replaced it, rebooted and it was fine. Might not be the same problem just because the symptoms are similar. If you had an unmodified SystemUI.apk file you could probably just overwrite it. Worst case, just flash a new ROM.
But yeah, in the future always take backups before you do anything like that. I learned that the hard way a few times.

[Q] [CM10 ROM] No GSM, baseband coming up as "unknown"

Hi,
after being a lurker I finally made an account to ask for help with a problem I can't solve.
I flashed my P500 with the latest 7th build of the CM10 by Rashed97 from stock 2.2.2 with V10a badeband.
All wipes done etc. flash went well.
Only problem, the phone didn't detect any SIM cards, detected no GSM.
I went on looking at all the ways to flash baseband and fix it. In the end I failed, tried LGMDP got errors, tried the fix provided by some of the users but the baseband stays "unknown" (not sure if was like that b4 fix, so I recovered to 2.2.2 and gonna do it again).
I'm asking for some advice, just how am I supposed to handle it this time so in the end I get a functioning phone.
Should i update baseband first, then flash ROM?
Cheers, looking forward to your replies.
First link in my signature below. Try flashing that.
If didnt work, unzip it and place it in /system/lib and set permissions right.
Same as other lib's permissions.

I used the fix already, didn't work. Tho i didn't figure out how to get it into /system/lib (where do I find that directory?). You mentioned in an earlier post, that one has to use root explorer, as in an APP?
Or maybe I'm supposed to flash the fix while I'm still on stock 2.2.2?
EDIT: Ugh, I'm tired and my posts are quite bad, but I got some news.
Baseband turns to unknown right after flashing ROM (flashed gapps also). So I'm gonna try that method of yours with putting the fix into /system/lib , I'm off to figure out how it's done....
EDIT2: Copied and overwrote the files from system/lib but where do the META - INF folder go?
Meta-Info folders are for recoveries not for us
No need to extract them.
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda premium
Sadly, even extracting the fix and putting the files manually into system/lib doesn't fix my problem ( I even checked the permissions).
Maybe I should just try updating the baseband first on 2.2.2 and then flash the CM10 ROM?

So I updated my ROM and baseband with G Mobile Support Tool.
Right now I got stock 2.3.3 with V20c on my P500. I guess I'll make a recovery of this and start flashing the CM10 again.
EDIT: Now this is bat**** crazy. After getting stock 2.3.3 had to fight to root it (finally managed with Onec Click Root). Now when I got my superuser I can't even go into recovery. Holding home + vol up + power makes a factory reset instead (superuser stays, other app like rom manager, quickboot and settings get deleted). So wth?
I think I'll try reflashing recovery with rom manager (after i once again dl it).
Victory!
Finally I managed to get it to work.
After updating to stock 2.3.3 I already had the right baseband, so then I just had to reflash recovery (which fixed the issue of going into recovery mode) and finally reflash the whole CM10 ROM.
Got greeted by phone asking for PIN, GSM works with full bars and now I can sit back and enjoy the smoothness of JB Android.
I'd like to thank all the people who answered my posts, gave me advice and tried to help.
I really, really needed this :victory: because changing to P500 with 4.1.2 is a really great upgrade from my GT540.
That's both for soft and hardware (finally multi-touch, Donkey Kong Adventure on SNESOID, here I come).
Rock on guys! :highfive:

The Lg LU6200 is a much different phone from ours and probably has a much different solution to your problem, I would recommend you ask on the forum for that phone. The nitro HD is a very similar phone, and there is a development subforum for your phone in the nitro hd's forum so there is probably a solution somewhere on there: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1445

what about IMEI:
*#06#
my imei still matches whats printed under the battery so thats all good.. has to be baseband doesnt it? in get RIL (from market) it states my baseband is the 18a EUR baseband but the RIL does not match. Im going to try and flash either the 21a baseband or the 21e (if i can find them)
is there anyway to flash basebands from CWM or does it have to be done via flashtools?
Could my lack of signal be anything other than baseband?
can i just say
**** me, i decided to have a game on my phone (since the wifi works and i wantted to shoot some people cos of the hastle... and as i was playing i got a text, now i didnt think anything of it. i just thought ahh for ****s sake, always when im playing on this someone texts me...hang on... someone just TEXT me. and low and behold my signal has appeared! not sure if i have 3g/H though as my phone just states a solid G with no up and down arrows but that could just be my location
Still an issue.. lock screen says (no service) and i have no mobile data. Must be baseband surely

[Q] No signal problem, just want to go back to before everything

Today I decided to root my phone, and did so with z4root. Then I installed a rom, using ClockWorkMode recovery, and crystal rom cm10 Jelly Bean. Everything works fine, except I get no cover/connection at all. From what I gathered by googling all day I probably didn't upgrade my old baseband to a new one, thus causing all of this. I get a null IMEI.
The version on my LG P500 was 2.2. I didn't make no backup whatsoever (I know, I know...).
Can I revert all the stuff I did today, returning to a factory state? Or any way to solve this mess?
Please, help.

If you don't have a backup try this one.

For the firmware look at my last post.

.
But there are few known issues with KDZ updater i.e. you should never remove your battery when you are in emergency mode. As this can hard brick your phone.
.
Otherwise you can use this.

Don't do what the person above says, it will brick your phone and you will not be able to use your phone at all. Download lgmdp and flash v20g baseband through it (for files and tutorial search Google), do not interrupt the process. After it has finished, restart your phone and your network signal will come back.

Mr. Junior Einstein, read the whole post before you say anything. Stop provoking me to take any step against you.
I already posted a link for lgmdp thread for the convenience of user.
Thank you.
Unfortunately the computer won't recognize my phone when I connect it, if I don't switch mass storage on. Can I follow that procedure anyway? Otherwise how do I fix it?
Thanks.
KDZ should be the absolute last option you try, only if all else has failed and you r ready to accept a chance of a brick . Instead You can just flash the old bb fix http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39893089. This works for all roms ( makes them compatible with phones whose base band has not been upgraded). Enter recovery, flash rom, reboot then flash old bb fix then reboot. Works flawlessly. You have to flash this after every new rom you try and you can be on old bb for ever. No worries. Hope this helps.

KDZ will not brick your phone. If anything, LGMDP is just as likely to brick your phone. It is all about what you do or do not do, as in: do be careful, and do not interrupt the process until it says complete. This is true for BOTH programs.
I've used KDZ more than 20 times and not once have I bricked my phone.
I was able to fix using the old baseband fix here.
Thank you very much for your help!

Both have near equal chances of bricking / not bricking. All depends on how much you understand what each tool does, how it works & and what precautions you take.
Blind usage could lead to the grave whereas both are life savers too !!

[Q] Plz Help! Stuck in BootLoader!

Hi all, I'm pretty new to the forums, so please forgive my noob-ousity.
I have got a Nexus S it's a I9020A, I Rooted and unlocked my phone a long time ago, and all was well and good for a while, then I started getting major slow downs, So I started doing a regular format to try and get rid of clutter, and it helped for a while, then last night I got tired of it always bogging down, so I did something very stupid, I went to recovery and formatted/wiped everything that had the option to do so.
Now my phone reboots directly to bootloader, I can go into recovery and I have the clockworkmod v5.8.0.2,
I have tried;
- Updating to the newest clockwork (6.0.3.1), it just makes it so my pc no longer recognizes my phone and I can't copy anything to the sdcard. So I had to revert.
- Using the Sabra One Click Root Tool! to recover things to a normal state, (a google search on my troubles prompted me to try this). It doesn't seem to change anything. When this finishes, just before getting the "congrats ur device is now rooted blah blah blah" I get a few errors that flash on the screen saying;
can't remove recovery-from-boot.p
can't remove install-recovery.sh
postrecoveryboot.sh not found.
- Freeboot and adb, neither seem to want to pick up my device even though everything else seems too.
- Copying update.zip and running it from the clockworkmod interface, it doesnt seem to change anything.
I'm sure I'm just missing something, but when I google my issue I get a lot of people stuck in bootloader unable to do any of the stuff I tried. Nothing that really has my exact problem for my phone.

I did exactly that, when doing a search, all the different tools one can use, the options can be kind of intimidating, especially when you don't know really what your issue is, the Nexus Root Toolkit does pretty much everything. As you said, it works flawlessly.
I flashed back to stock, and it works again.
