Alright I'm going to format my sd card - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

Do I need to copy any system files, I'm using cm9 with herring. I see system files with some of those names on my sd card.

Do you have any apps installed in there? If not you should be OK. The system's files should automatically be created later.

If I boot into clock work I can see the files from install from debut with programs to viewing files nothing shows up. Help please. Thank you.

In Astro, in the SD folder, if you scroll all the way to the bottom, you'll see an External SD folder.

I know that but it doesn't show my files inside my external SD.

Lost sd card contents

All my sd card contents disappeared after I flashed kd1 it shows that the memory is still taken up by the files but I can't find them I tried file explorer apps tried plugging the phone into the computer and still can't find them

Try removing the memory card and reading it directly from a computer. If you can see the contents, copy whatever you need out of it. put it back into the phone. Format. reboot and see if the phone reads it right. If it does, drag and drop whatever you backed up

Will try as soon as I find the micro sd converter

Looks like I wont be able to find the missing files because my little cousin had my phone and accidentally erased everything on the internal memory and sd card

Download photorec.
You can recover your SD card as long as you don't copy anything over to it
OK thanks where do I download it. I'm searching for it in the market and it's not finding it

Google it, it's a windows/linux/mac program.

(Q) move apps to internal sd??

Is there anyway possible to move apps to your internal sd instead of external sd?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium
EDIT: Disregard. I was wrong.
I've tried this multiple times and it doesn't work. It sends them to my external sd no matter what. I have been searching everywhere and I don't think you can move them to internal sd. Thanks though.

Okay, you're right. They don't go to the internal sd. Thought I had read that they do, and in the app manager, it showed them as being on the 13gb partition. Just pulled my SD card, and the apps don't show up. So, it would be nice to know how to put them on the internal card.
Alright, making this happen involves editing /system/etc/vold.fstab and moving the .android_secure folder from your external SD to your internal SD.
See the thread linked below. Study the first vold.fstab file there and make the same changes, and move your .android_secure folder. I did this and now I really do have most of my apps on the internal SD.

Thanks for finding that. I appreciate it. I'm going to have to try it later on this evening.

I finally tried this and I could not get it to work. I tried a few times and nothing.

Worked for me. You can replace your vold.fstab with the first download in that thread if your edits didn't work. Move your app folder using a PC, reboot, and it should work. This just swaps how the system uses those partitions. It worked too well for me. I ended up preferring the default setup since I change roms so much.

Does this do a full reversal of the sd cards? The reason i ask is because i have a few games that have extra data (mostly gameloft games) that i would like to move to my external sd because they will only play if they are on my internal. I have a 16gb external that i would like to put the game data on.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium
Yeah, this reverses the cards so that the external sd is seen as the internal and vice-versa by the device. So any data stored by apps on one card would now go to the other. This is one reason I haven't continued using this mod, but it may work for what you want.

[Q] transfer backup to another phone

How do I do this? I'm getting a new phone but I want to keep my saved games and other data from my current phone. I have titanium backup pro if that makes a difference.
Basically I want to backup my data on phone A and restore it on phone B.
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda premium
Titanium backup pro.
I would recommend careful restore on same android versions, for user apps and data only. Don't restore system apps or data.
Some apps allow to export settings to be imported later. Make use of them.

Well if it were me I would simply do a Titanium backup to your removable SD card and use that on your new phone (assuming it's rooted).

How do I move backup location to external SD? I think it saves on internal.

External: Mount to computer and copy from internal sd to external sd.
OR
Internal: Use an app like say root explorer, and copy from internal sd to external sd on the phone.
Do you know what the file would be called or where it's located? I've got root explorer so I'll just make a copy to my external card.
(btw, 64gb cards do work in the infuse )

Can only access one SD card.

I am running cm7 and everything is running great. The only little hiccup I have is that I can only access one of my SD cards. With the stock File Explorer and Linda, only the internal SD is showing, and the External_SD folder empty.
Under cm7 settings>applications, there is an option to switch SD cards, but all that does is reverse what is show in the file explorer.
Both SD cards are available when I plug into the PC, but this is annoying having to manually change settings. It wasn't like this with stock 2.3.3.

External SD isn't used by cm7 you have emmc, which is your internal SD and SDcard which is your external sd

Edit: assuming it worked right, see screenshot
Not sure why, but I dot have that folder.

Wow, nvm. I got it figured out, had to do a little exploring.
My next task; browsing LAN network via wifi with Linda manager. Is this possible to access my home computer's hard drive from my phone? Looks like i need a host ip and password with Linda.
