[Q] does this sd card on ebay look genuine? - Desire Accessories

http://www.ebay.com/itm/221067563602?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649
i can't buy from amazon as it does not ship to my country.

I would suggest not buy from Hong Kong
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda app-developers app

Usually HK means lower price but higher risk (not getting the goods or getting something worse then expected). The good feedback in this case should be a good index

I've bought SD Cards on eBay and had no issues.
It's usually when the price is too good to be true that it can be a scam.
I've heard of 16gb cards being labelled (and hacked) as 64gb cards. When you
reach the 16gb limit, the card get corrupted.

does the price look right? i bought it as the seller got very good feedbacks and there is a 7days return policy

Seems alright. What I usually do is compare to the retail price, and the price on "discount" technology websites.
Remember that postage can take over a month from China / Hong Kong, so the 7 day return policy isn't really much use if you buy from there.

I'm a little dubious of cards out of HK as I have been bitten before..
That said, I bought a 16GB Sandisk class10 (which is great!) recently from a local seller, and the price on this one lines up with what I paid for them (I bought 2 x 16GB for about the same price your seller is asking for the 32).

thx for ur tips and recommendations! the price looks right so i think it's genuine.. already ordered.. now waiting receiving it .. will post feedback when it arrives... hope everything goes well

Fingers crossed!

just got it today..surprisingly got it very fast.. will try it later today.. anyone with a tutorial to properly partition it for a2sd scripts?

i am using this program : sosfakeflash.wordpress.com/2008/09/02/h2testw-14-gold-standard-in-detecting-usb-counterfeit-drives/ to test its speed and the writing speed seems to be around 8.60mb/s? is the speed ok?
i am using a cheap usb sd card reader i bought from ebay.
update : the write speed is 8.5mb/s
update 2: error with verify :
Error reading file 'V:\3.h2w', offset 0xea00000.
(The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error. Code 1117)
Warning: Only 29364 of 29365 MByte tested.
Writing speed: 8.55 MByte/s
Reading speed: 20.8 MByte/s
H2testw v1.4
should i worry? the sd card is defective? will try it on my laptop .. maybe it's the cheap usb sd card reader ?
update 3:
errors again and cannot re-format.. the sd card seems corrupted too... going to ask for a return .. i think it is defective or fake i am very disappointed

lesson learned .. i will never buy storges devices from chinese ebay seller again!

Same price at amazon selling from SanDisk their self. Better do more research.
But one more thing. SanDisk doesn't fit Desire, at least this model. I have a same card but a genuine one, doesn't work. You can take a look at my post, would suggest you buy another brand, like samsung.

If you have Clockwork recovery, then you can do it in that.
Put the card in, boot into recovery, go to advanced (I think), chose Partition SD Card.

I was told that CWM card partitioning is no good. I couple of weeks, phone can suffer errors and substantial laggs.
I replaced CWM recovery with 4EXT Touch Recovery. Great stuff.
You have abaaaabbbb63's tutorial HERE how to partition SD card via 4EXT. I did it and it is perfectly align and working great.

I have another question since we are on the Topic of SD cards, is there a particular reason i cant use a 64gig card on my infuse or captivate. is there a way to make this happen. any tricks, or is just not possible (32 gig is great) but i would still like to know.
I'd love to jump in on this (though the chip could be fakes), but the reviews for Daily Steals is terrible.
http://www.viewpoints.com/DailySteals-com-review-2b587
Has anyone tried Daily Steals before and would like to give feedback?
I've used them for several purchases ranging from SD cards to an Augen tablet (ugh). Even some wireless mice...
All transactions were legit. Items shipped in a reasonable amount of time and were never incorrect.

yes it is real, im not imagining it. i bought it, it was like 120 dollars
They were just announced in May and Kingston is the only maker so far.
They are NOT on the market yet.
How did you get one?
i just assumed that they were available, shot over to my moms house(she buys things online, i dont) gave her the money and told her to order me one. she found it and it arrived 2 days later.
its exactly the same as my 32gb card. just has a 64 on it.
so is this not possible to use at this moment??

It's likely to be a fake, because I doubt some random company would have a 64GB Micro SD card before the bigger companies.
well its looks real, obviously i cant test to see if its "Real" ( my phone didnt recognize it, and i dont have one of those adaptors to plug into my computer.
ahhh well, was worth a try. i hope she didnt order me a Fake - Damnnnn it.

Has xcellent reviews. Both Sony & Amazon will stand behind it. I got the Samsung one & it's perfectly flawless so far.

I've had my samsung 64gb uhs1 for a week now. The kern that came with my rom didnt supoort exfat sd cards. So I flashed kt kernal and it works flawlessly. Stock kernal supports exfat btw.

As far as i am aware about that sd card, it should run flawless. I have one with the same specs, only it.s from Samsung. It.s even on sale the sd card, it would be a shame not to buy it. Have fun with it, and may you have no problems using it !
I have Scandisk extreme 64gb, I have had no issues with it its far quicker than any card our there as it reads and write 80mbs more costly than the rest but a massive thumbs up from me on this one
Sent from my GT-I9500 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
The "unmounting SD card" problem has more to do with the kernel than anything else. I've had a SanDisk card and it's worked fine with the KT kernel -- so there's really no need to buy a Samsung card.
I started to buy one from Amazon on black Friday. I put it in my cart and forgot about it. Now the price has jumped back up. What a dummy.
I suggest that you get the SanDisk Ultra 64GB, lifetime warranty and no hassle using it.
I have the SanDisk Ultra 64GB and it works great in 4.2.2, but then with 4.3 and 4.4 I had to root the phone to modify platform.xml to allow apps to save files to the SD card. Works for me since I have the Google Play Edition and it's moderately easy to root the phone, but it still messes with over the air updates, so I can't say that I actually recommend anyone else doing the same, unless you like to tinker.
Hey MPCookson, could you give me some info on how you modified the xml to get the 64GB cards to work on 4.4 roms...ive searched and searched for methods to get this to work and have been unsuccessful with everything ive tried...reformatted the card to exfat, tried every 4.4 rom out there and cant get it to pick up my card...any insight would be VERY helpful!

Thanks for the heads up on that.
The unmounting only happens if your kernal doesn't support exfat sd cards. Only fat32. Stock kernal and kt kernals support exfat that I know of but others like ptmr's doesn't. So it's not an sd card issue.

Had a problem with a sandisk 32gb (1 year old). Was trying different formats fat32 / exfat with supported kernel. But then it started to get unexpectedly removed very frequently. Fortunately it seemed working good in other devices (pc, tablet). I backed up everything and started a RMA. They told my card was defective and accepted it as a damaged card (I tried to fix it formatting without success). I have read some bad reviews about sandisk cards but I think this issue was only affected by some batches. I really liked theirs RMA support and I bought a new one (64gb this time). Hope it lasts more than the other one.

Ebay is full of fake SD cards. The card will probably show as being 64GB but it surely isn't.
Advice: don't use it at all. If stubborn: don't use it to store anything remotely important. You will lose data, again without any doubt.
I remember when the 32gb were big back in the day. I ordered one from China on Ebay and I thought it was a steal. I received the item, worked for 2 days and bam! No more 32gb! It instantly became 800kb some how...

I remember the days when Ebay used to have "caveat emptor" at the bottom of every page. My, how things have changed...

It's no 64GB card. A card with genuinely that capacity can't be bought anywhere for that price. ALL those cards are fake. All of them, 100%.
But, if you're happy with it, great. No biggie.
Verify the authenticity of the card via Sandisk's Website
I bought mine at 2,300Philippine Pesos or 51.61US$ from a 3rd Party seller, and I've contacted a Rep via Online Chat from Sandisk itself, and after supplying them with the information regarding my Sandisk Ulta 64Gb, they confirmed it via the photos and the serial number of the card that I provided that it is indeed authentic. They even took the trouble or registering it and I now have a Lifetime Warranty for that Card!
Things to consider all the sandisk drives are made in china, also are these the ones that everyone was having issues with?? Quick way to pawn them off?? Honestly I would not touch these.. Despite the fact I could use a 64gb drive..

[Q] SD Card removed unexpectedly??

Anyone getting this error? SD Card removed unexpectedly?
I put the External SD Card I used in my Galaxy S3 for 2 years into new Xperia Z3 and within 10 minutes I was getting this error.
Removed card and formatted it. Put card back in and within a couple of minutes the same error?
Unsure what to do at this stage. I will try another card and see how that goes but I never had a single issue with that SD Card in the GS3 for 2 years.
It's a SanDisk SD Card. 32GB.

Possibly just an issue with the SanDisk but as I said it dos work perfectly in my older GS3

same issue but resolved by changed to a new samsung evo sdcard.
i believe my previous card is good but only not compatible
I've had similar issues on low end phones, but not high end ones. Could be a software bug in 4.4.4 since I have seen this happen on a few phones. Then again, could be SD Card corrupt issues and you may want to get it replaced.
Same here. Has happened 2x in a week.

Ah.
No not RA. Just random numbers I picked a couple of years ago!!
Found a resolution to this.
Did two things, but don't know which one solved it.
Reformatted card to exFat and also stuck a small thin label to the back of the card to increase overall thickness of the card to make certain it stayed in place. 14 or so hours now without issue.
