Hello xda community,
I am developing an application for my thesis that can determine the distance of the objects the camera sees. Until now i was using mono camera devices, and this is making my life difficult. So i was thinking maybe to invest on an lg optimus 3d in order to take advantage of the stereo cameras.
But, on all the devices i have worked with, you cant access in a app any 2 cameras (for example front and back) in the same time.
What my question is, if this is possible to lg optimus 3d. can i access both back cameras on the same time? they work on a different way? are they any diference from other phones on the way you access camera from a programmers prespective?

OK umm there is already an app on korean LG smart world but no one here got because its only Korea app ..so yeah its possible

i am aware of that application, and i am intrested in particular on changes on java code in relation with other devices. for example in a normal device with one camera back - one front. you do something like this to select the camera... camera.open(1) or camera.open(2). what i am really asking is if i can use the 2 back cameras in the same time ( it can't be done on other devices) or the implementation done by lg (hardware) outputs both singals from the 2 cameras in one image?
it would be very helpfull to me if someone could upload, or direct me to a picture taken with lg optimus 3d in 3d mode in order to see how it stores its values on the picture matrix (2 pics side by side in one pic? 2 pics with every other row beloning to the second camera pic? other way? )

Of course ,, surely they can be working together , how could we take 3D photos .
The phone takes two pictures at the same time and merge them together .

Is there any camera application which can enable (auto or manual) focus settings? Anybody knows something about it?
The focus function is a hardware function, so its not limited by missing drivers/software.
That function is not available on the Mega and cannot be enabled.

I too would like this and the ability to map the button to one of the volume keys. seriously i love my Touch 2 but even cheap phones have a better camera...
Am afraid you have to live with it....search XDA for "camera settings" and than you will see a fair number of articles which give some improvements (have read most of them) but in general HTC is not strong with camera's.......
I found an app called +Que Camera 4.0 for HTC phones but it wont install on the touch2, oh well. I can cope with a crappy camera, i guess....

Thanks...., did not test the application (yet)....is kinda big. But from reading I learn that this does not improve the camera itself but you can more easily change settings and add some options like sports mode etc.....these can be changed aswell with "diamond tweak" , "advanced configuration tools" or "SK tools" etc.

You can the magnifier button to zoom in & out while using the camera. It is not very useful, doesn't give much zoom but works.
Yes, Camera App 4.0 QVGA can not be installed in hTC Touch2. I tried it in several times and failed. I also looking for other way to improve camera because I am using "Penpower WorldCard Mobile". Touch2 Camera could not provide clear picture for recognition. Does anyone have improvement?

On XDA there are several threads on getting the max out of your camera by changing settings....search and try..but much improvement you will not get...
Today i've tested the iPhone 3GS Camera and LOL my Mega did better photo in the market compared to the iPhone one so dont be so sad i'm searching now for a second hand LG Viewty damn it has a 5mp cam and it's pretty nice i've tried today too !

yes i do want to buy a device with a good flash and autofocus ... Mega is super nice and fast with programs but lacks on camera ... i'm on a crossway between ""Mind the gap !-> ht tp://www.gsmarena.com/lg_kc780-2542.php

Camera App doesn't work
for better photos the best way is editing them with resco photo viewer or(and) spb imageer. don't try the impossible to take better photos with low quality cameras instead editing with propper tools. this is the best way.
no use even if u got focus cam is too ****ty to use , just buy a propa , panasonic or sony camm and enjoy ...
Hello, do you know a soft whitch can be used to talk via the front cam of the HD2 like the ibouze 4?
there is no front cam on the hd2

Lemme tell You my experience with videotalk on my HTC Touch HD (which I staill have) and my LG GD900-Wristwatch-Handy (which I wear every day):
Tried it once to see if it works, NEVER USED IT AGAIN !!!!!!!!! ´cause only few people You call will even know that maybe they have a feature like this on their own cellphones. Doesn´t work when I call friends in other countries since provider don´t support it or have dirfferent protocols etc. etc.
Nobody needs it.
To proof that also YOU don´t need it: get a one month VZOChat account and see that also You won´t use it .............
Did someone managed to get the new HTC Camera Modes to work on 1st Generation Devices or can someone explain why not or help me develop a solution ?

I suppose he's talking about burst and panoramic modes which can be found in the camera settings of both HTC Radar and Titan.
If anyone could figure out a way to get the burst ad panoramic modes, I would greatly appreciate it.

I think the camera modes are driver controlled but how do we crack the camera enhancment app to do that is someone a app developer? and could help me a little bit to bring it to 1gen HTC's or the other manufaturers Devices?

well its no question but more a important discussion were noone seems to care about...
truth is, now with mango almost at tango we still did not have one improovement, even worse..
most of the new applications HTC made, are NOT COMPATIBLE with 1st Gen devises, even OLD APPS like the COMPASS are NOT COMPATIBLE anymore..
WTF!!! and i mean.. WHAT THE FRECKIN FRUC
im seriously mad about this!
if we hadnt had ripped their apps and cracked them,
we couldnt even use them anymore...
those lazy profit orientated leeches
like the mozart couldnt make those cam shots
they just dont programm the driver and
dont give us access to do it ourself...
even worse then apple... damn...

If chefs coking ROMs for first gen devices with camera settings from device second gen (and this happens) maybe anybody have xap file with these camera settings (from second gen of course)? If yes it could give to the forum. I do not think about modes panoramic or series but other like: white balance, brightness, etc. I need this file for my friend. THX

You are not developing something here.
This thread belongs to the GENERAL Section..
Not only has it been pointed out on many occasions and in the wrong section the 3D source and HDMI source have never been released by LG hence why not included in any CM versions.
you can take 3d pictures but you cannot view 3d
i dont know if its possible in the stock cm10 camera but if you download the 4.2 camera you can use the switch camera to cycle through the standard camera to face cam to stereoscopic cam. i know it works cos i viewed it in the cross eyed viewing method and its 3d lol.
but dont do this viewing method in public places you look kinda weird lol
At the moment this is yet impossible till LG actually brings out an ICS update and peeps can start extracting the closed sourced drivers - at that point I guess it should be a fairly painless update to add it and update the kernel to actually use the LG drivers.
TL;DR: No.
You underestimate how hard it is to implement 3d, there's a reason why we don't have a standalone 3d mod, unless a very good developer some how ports it

Hello, I have a quick question since this month ill be taking some outdoors footage for a personal cinematographic project and i want to know which app is the best APP to take video footage or even take pictures or if the android default app is good enough?
I am currently have last year HTC phone planning to move into a s9+ but dont mind the phone i might switch to anything really. Lets talk about apps only... Which is better for video production and editing ...The standard Android app or which one you recommend from the playstore?
Any ideas on this?
