Ok so, I just did a trade on Craigslist recently and got an S3 from Verizon, clean ESN and all, it just had a cracked screen. Well the guy had already bought a replacement he just didn't know how to do it. Did the trade, got home and completed the screen repair. Works great, but here are my problems....
1. Phone is PIN locked and I don't know it and he can't get a hold of the guy he got it from.
2. It will not boot into anything but normal, no Download mode, no Recovery, nothing.
3. Windows doesn't recognize it. At one point in my 100+ times of connecting and disconnecting it, it did recognize it and was going to install the drivers for it and then it said device unplugged, which it hadn't been.
So now I come to the great world of XDA and see if we can't solve this issue together. Anyone have any ideas? I have tried 4 different USB cables as well. All of which work with my current S3.
Thanks
So no one knows anything eh?

You should be able to pull battery, replace, and force into download mode. I haven't heard of a phone that wouldn't go into download mode that would boot up. Anyway, after flashing with Odin, the pin should disappear.

Yea man I have tried all that. I have tried every kind of way to get into download mode, to no avail. Pretty frustrating really! I even reformatted my computer to see if it might be that, but nope.
Still hoping...
Ok so it is sitting in DOWNLOAD mode right now but Windows still doesn't recognize it, meaning ODIN doesn't see it either!! Any help would be greatly appreciated!! I don't know what I did, I just unscrewed everything, moved stuff around and screwed it back together.......
EDIT: Ok so I got into recovery finally, did a factory reset. Windows still won't recognize it but at least it works now.
If you can get into recovery. Wipe data. so and PIN should be gone
Now boot phone and hit that USB debugging.
Odin should see it now.

Yea I did a factory reset, but can't get past activation of SIM since it isnt unlocked or anything. So it just give me turn off phone or emergency call. Windows still doesn't recognize it though.

So, I had a rooted Infuse. I bought it rooted.
I finally start getting the balls to flash a rom, and like most people the first time... Soft bricked.
Spent from 8pm-11pm last night unbricking and now its back to stock.
I found the settings for the APN online so I can now get on the interwebz (browser) on the phone.
However, the app store will not download anything. Very frustrating. I have searched and searched with no solution to my problem.
Thanks

As in factory reset in the settings?
A thought
I suppose you have already attempted to clear your market data by going into settings\applications\market and delete all data associated with the market? (If so factory reset may be the ticket as suggested above)
Cheers,

Full factory reset will do the trick. For me when flashing the Infuse either back to stock or a ROM if I haven't done a format this is the type of weird random stuff that happens.

Pick up a JIG if you are worried about it, it will get you back into download mode if you manage to completely mess things up.
infuse 4g stuck at samsung logo screen
i have an infuse 4g from at&t my phone is rooted and i had installed the INFUSED ROM everything was working fine on the phone but when i plugged it in to my computer it would recognize it, everytime i plugged it in, my computer would say the usb device was not recognized, i tried to unistall and resintall the drivers, tried 3 different computers, different data cables and i would still get the same error, it just would recognize my phone. My phone would charge, it just wouldnt connect to my computer at all. So i decided to do a master reset from the menu of the phone, everything seemed to work fine untill it restarted, it wouldnt load pass the samsung logo screen, and now i cant get it to load on recovery mode or download mode. I dont know what to do, ive searched everywhere and no one seems to have the same problem i do... ive tried to install stock with odin but it doesnt even recognize my phone because i cant go into download mode im stuck with the same problem, now when i plug my phone into my computer, even tho it wont load pass the samsung screen everytime i plugg it into the usb port i still get the same error, it can not be recognized.... hope someone can help me. thank you in advance!

Ok this actually sounds similiar to something that happened to me, so here goes:
Was using Odin back to stock and something went wrong during. The phone screen went into a rainbow/starry clusterfack and then black. Couldn't get into download mode or anything, everytime I booted the stars came back or nothing at all. So eventually I just did what I would do if going into download, pulled batt, plugged in while holding volumes. Nothing came on to the screen but decided to continue, so I hit the volume up do accept the warning screen even though I couldn't see it and finally my phone showed up on my PC. Hit start in Odin and it worked and downloaded luckily. Sorry for the long explanation but, give this a try.
odins not seeing nothing from left to right i see
a phone --!--and a pc with a black screen some how it looks like its in some ultra low download mode :/

Never seen that but, it looks like your phone is having problems connecting to your PC, try rebooting the PC and then reconnect usb and phone.
Also I did a little googling, and I believe it means a bad flash, some ppl have fixed by a hard reset so try that link.
Here's the thread with different options, not our phone but same situation: thread

yeah this phone its hardcore unbrickable... haha as bbwolf said its just a DL screen that usually appears (at least to me) when i connect the infuse and use odin with front or externally conected USB ports also happened to me in all 3 ports of my bro laptop
Instead using the back USB ports will prevent the outpowering of the usb port and you will flash flawlessly but Infuse its harcore you really have to mess things up to brick it... if even possible 0.o
If happens again relax... go to a desktop and flash with a back USB u will be back on track in notime

I tried flashin to stock firmware through Odin, and it said it passed/ flashed successfully yet my phone just stays on the at&t Logo, any advice?
I NEED my phone for work tomorrow and it's already getting late. I've reflashed twice now. I'm starting to panic.

My phone wont even connect to Keis Air, i tried connecting my phone while its in download mode and when its stuck in the rethink possible screen. Still wont connect to Keis Air.
They way I was able to fix mine was to first open Kies then select initialize firmware and connect phone to USB port in back of PC. Follow the prompts they will ask for model number and serial number it is located under battery. Select OK. Once firmware is finished Downloading it will prompt you to accept, disconnect phone from PC and then place phone in DL mode by removing battery reinsert battery press volume +- and then volume + to continue once you do that then connect phone to PC via USB and follow screen prompt on PC. It took me about one hour for mine to finally return to stock. I'm going from memory because I'm not sitting in front of computer at this time. Maybe someone with more knowledge than I can help. Good luck.

Hey,
Yesterday I rebooted my i9023 and it won't start anymore. I pulled the battery because I forgot to start in bootloader mode, and I think I might've done that while the bootloader was starting up. I assume the bootloader is corrupted, or something. Buttons don't react anymore, nothing is displayed on-screen when charging, can't get into bootloader or download mode. I've tried all the things I could find, including this, but no dice.
I'm gonna make myself a USB JIG tomorrow and try to get it into download mode, but before that,is there something else I could try?
You can't even boot into fastboot mode? Even if its a black screen did you check if the computer detected it?
You can try the typical method of getting into download mode: hold vol+ and - and plug in the usb, not sure if it works that way with the Nexus. I see i9023 odin images available at sammobile.

Nope, can't boot it into anything and the pc doesn't detect it.
Sadly another confirmation that pulling battery to save seconds is a bad idea, happened some people before. Hope you can save your phone.
Well, I hope the JIT works. Otherwise, it's off to warranty, and hopefully they can fix it....It'd be sad to have to get a new phone...really really like this one.
Don't you worry. Just send it on warranty and they will replace your motherboard. I did exactly the same thing, pulled my battery to save some seconds. I sent my phone to repair, they took care of it in 10 days

Is there a chance to recover the data? I don't have much on it, but I have photos I haven't pulled.
That was my biggest concern. I'm afraid you'll loose all data, just as I have lost mine. Some (or all) of your photos might have been autosent to your gmail account. I managed to restore only some of those photos. Not all of them have been sent to my google account.

Yes, but your computer was able to detect it, if you could do that. Mine is literally a brick right now. Computer doesn't see it and it doesn't start at all. I'll try the JIG later, and if not, I'll send it to warranty and hope for the best

Good Morning Everyone, This is my first post. I try to never post just read. I have read and read but to no avail. I have a AT&T Samsung infuse 4g. it WAS running froyo. What I mean by WAS, is that I was trying to install the modded 3e recovery so I could install clockworkmod recovery. During this process I read that I need to mount the /system partition as read/write I did this using the tool box that was created by some of your developers. It is awsome by the way. Well I did that and put a new recovery file in the /bin but it did not work as the website claimed so I thought well I should delete the old one. Bad Idea when I did the reboot it stopped me at the samsung screen. I tried to hard reboot it pulled the battery talked to it with a really kind voice and nothing happend. So I decided to use GEG's Ultimate Unbrick because this has worked for me in the past when i have messed up. So I put my phone into download mode and started the process with Odin. And here is where it gets bad.... one of my children was talking with me during the process and he decided to unplug my phone.. AHH EFFFFFF! I thought. Well when I tried to fix it it was to late. My phone will no longer turn on or even pretend to start. I am broke and cannot afford a new phone plus my wife would kill me seeing we have 6 children and it is right before christmas if I came home with a new galaxy note 2 Please Please can any one help a desperate dad with a busted Samsung Infuse. Thank you all for this awesome website that has taught me alot.. Please dont kill me for posting something someone has already posted because I could not find anything that was helpful for this situation with my phone.

Okay now I have really done it this time. So I worked a 18 hour day and thought well instead of getting some rest i will install Gingerbread on my infuse. To make a long story short while I was using odin to install it paused for a long time at the format stage, so I thought well I will just turn it off even though it says not to and then.....well it did a rainbow colored screen I tried to figure it out last night with no luck. So I have been working on it all morning the rainbow screen is gone but now it just goes from black to all white screen. I have tried every possible way to get into download mode with no luck. Am I screwed or what? Does anyone have any suggestions. If I am out of luck does anyone know if bestbuy's warrenty covers rooted phones that are [email protected] bricked?

You're too kind, Merk.
I'm not sure what happened to your phone. The Infuse is pretty sturdy. Flashing should not cause much of an issue. The faulty power button and corrosion of the circuit board were the most I've seen reported.
This is what I use to force the phone into download mode:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Micro-USB-J...665854?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item3f201c4f3e
Once in DL mode, it's a matter of choosing Odin or Heimdall to bring it back to stock.
One other thought, try a different battery as well.
I had the same exact problem. If the only thing the phone will do is go into download mode, then Samsung will fix it (if your still under warranty). They fixed mine and sent it back to me. Then I tried to flash another ROM on there and while it was flashing, I went to the store, and when I came back it said failed. Then it would only go into the other download mode. The one that has this (phone...!...PC). It wouldnt show up on odin 1.7 anymore. So I ended up trying a USB cable for my HTC evo v, and the drivers installed, then it popped up on Odin. I used G2G's Ultimate Unbrick (dude is a f-ng genius, all credit goes to him) and instead of putting the pit, PDA, and phone file on there and flashing, I flashed one at a time......then....I went back and flashed all at once and everything worked perfect. If your still having trouble with it, I can tell you exactly how I did it, and maybe that will work for you. Sorry to but in on this post and sorry it was so long of a reply. I just no what its like when you half brick an infuse. Mine was like that for 6 months because I couldn't get any computer to recognize it. But anyway, I hope I was helpful.

Thanks I will definately give it a try and report with my findings

But anyway, I hope I was helpful.

okay I tried but that didnt work either. Can you go ahead and explain "exactly" what you did maybe it will work!
Thanks again for everyones help!
Ok first I downloaded the unbrick package from this website. I downloaded the drivers for the infuse (not sure exactly where I got them from). I would just Google them. Then I tried every USB port on the laptop. Then switched cables and it finally worked. Opened Odin 1.7 and clicked pit, then flashed. Then I unplugged it, took the battery out and put back in and tried to boot. Didn't work. Then flashed PDA. Did same steps as before and still didn't work. Then flashed phone file. Tried to boot and still didn't work. Then I flashed all 3 files at once. Also, not sure if you know or not but the only thing that should be checked in Odin is f: reset time. Then the phone booted up and it stayed on at&t screen for about 5 minutes then finally came on. Also, you could also try to flash this other PDA file on there. I have the link saved on my computer but I'm not at home right now so I'll have to post that later. In easier steps
1. Put phone in Download mode and plug into pc.
2. Run Odin as admin and only thing checked is f reset time.
3.Flash pit then try to boot
4. Flash PDA then try to boot
5. Flash phone then try to boot
6. Flash all three at once
7. After flash While in download mode, unplug USB cable, take battery out and put back in
8. Reboot phone.
Sorry everything is all jumbled, I just got back to my home state from a road trip and I'm running on about 6 hours of sleep in 3 days. I hope this works for you. Also, there is a video on YouTube of a unbrick service for the phone. Its $30. I personally would not try it but its just an idea if you would want to.

I had the issue where I had the phone, the exclamation mark, and the computer symbol (The Black Screen of Death: Imaged Attached), that is all it would show when I turned it on. I thought the phone was completely bricked until I did the following, which put it into a hidden download mode and allowed ODIN to recognize it. I DID NOT NEED TO BUY A USB JIG.
1. Make sure you have Odin already downloaded and ready to go.
2. Remove the SIM and SD Cards
3. Load up Odin and make sure it is up and running on the computer. DO NOT plug your phone into the computer yet.
4. Reinstall the Battery and plug the phone to the USB cable to the computer.
5. Hold down both Volume keys and then push and hold the power button
6. Keep holding the buttons until it goes to black, KEEP HOLDING A SECOND TIME until it goes to black and the icon comes back on.
7. Now when it goes Black the second time release the Power button only.
8. You should now be in Download mode. The key is holding the buttons, letting it go to black once, and then letting it go to black again, and then release only the power button while your fingers are still on the volume buttons.
9. Now Odin should recognize the phone on a Com port (turn yellow).
10. You are now ready to return it back to stock.
I hope this helps!
did you ever get your infuse fixed man?

Yes I tried to make my own jig but my fat shaky hands could get the end of the wires to hit the correct contacts so I ordered one online and that got me into download mode! Now I'm running jelly bean! Thanks to everyone that helped out I love you guys!!!! PS. Don't skip backing up your efs folder!! Unless you want a headache. But with all my problems it has taught me a lot. My number one tip is to read read read there is always an answer! Thanks again everyone!
