[Q] Backing up modified ROM to Make a new ROM - General Questions and Answers

Hello people..
I am new here and currently using Sony Ericsson Xperia pro (MK16i) with base ROM as the Jelly Sandwich 8.5.
Although I use that ROM, I have made many modifications..and the ROM is totally different.
All the MODs are from different places and now I love the way my phone looks.
So, now the problem is.. I wanted to backup the whole ROM and make a new flashable ROM. As you all know, my phone is 2011 series Xperia and single-core only, so I guess flashing back the gingerbread would be a nice idea. I don't want ICS anymore as I am getting a Xperia Z soon for all those stuffs.
Any help people? Just wanted to backup the whole thing I modified and keep it as a flashable zip.. So that I can flash it anytime I wish to come back to this ROM..
Thanks..:highfive:

I read somewhere that resetting to factory configuration solves some lag problems, but overall stock ICS rom is just that slow.
My xperia pro has a locked bootloader, so custom rom options are minimal, however I recommend Ice Cream Pureness, I use that one and it is waaaaay faster and smooth than stock ICS rom, I'm very happy with it.
There's also Jelly Sandwich... I've read it's even faster... gotta try that one next month maybe.
If your phone has an unlockable bootloader, your choices are way better... and faster since you can actually flash it a better kernel. Search through Arc S forum (xperia pro does not have own forum section so we're there)

[Q] Xperia J custom rom help

So i m new to android phones was using nokia for long time...i just need little help in deciding which custom rom is more stable and latest?like paranoid confused me a bit..and i really like the looks of xperia z rom also....
so need some advice.plzzzzzzz
other things i have on my mind is that i have rooted my phone and i read that one should always made a backup of original rom.How to made that back up ????and lets say if i chose and install a rom like xperia z and then want to shift on paranoid or may be a latest version of any custom rom so then also i can always go back to my old original rom which i backed up??
i guess that can save my warranty or not ???
No warranty, if you unlock bootloader. Going back to stock? Use pc companion repair or .ftf for flashtool.

For me the most stable and smooth rom is Slim Bean Build 3
For backup try looking in Google for the rom version you have installed in stock

I did not try custom ROMs on D6633 yet, I'll wait until Sony stops support beyond Marshmallow and then I'll play. Current modified rooted stock ROM's provide enough customizability that unless pure custom ROM offers amazing new features I am not desperate for custom ROM just yet. I use 3rd party launcher and couple of MODs and I am happy for now.
There are few modified stock ROM's you might wanna try, like this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/development/rom-23-4-1-232-t3226948

[Completed] Is there a rom for the Xperia sp that bravia engine 2 works in?

Im buying a Xperia Sp tomorrow and i'm planning on rooting and putting a custom rom on (maybe CM 13) I'm wondering is there a rom thats based on either 5.1.1 or 6 that supports the sony bravia engine 2 so that it still works?
alot of people have said to me if its based on a "stock rom" then it will, is this true and also whats the difference between stock roms and other roms?
also if there isnt a rom based on 5 or 6 that supports it and only 4.4.4 does for example that will still do.
I Would also appreciate it if someone could provide a link to one (if there is one) thanks

Hello, and welcome to XDA!
Stock would be what the OEM (in this case, Sony) releases or is at least the base. A custom ROM has a different base (often very close to AOSP), which include CyanogenMod.
Because CM would not have the libraries that Sony has, Bravia Engine probably will not work. Probably the only way it would be, is to use either the Sony stock ROM or something that used the Sony ROM as it's base.
Unfortunately a quick scan in the SP Development area does not match your criteria.
By the way, this thread may help:
> Sony Xperia SP > Xperia SP Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting > Have stock... Want to put something custom on it. Confused
Can direct any questions there, once you have an XDA account.
A bit late for your final decision in purchase, but I hope this helps.
