Stock ICS or JB Browser on XT926 - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have been trying to find a web browser that I like & unfortunately Chrome isn't cutting it for my everyday browser. I am coming from a HTC Rezound where it automatically take you to the full website (desktop view) without changing the settings every time. I also miss Adobe Flash when visiting sites like ESPN, but could possibly live without, maybe.
Anyway, the question here is, does anyone know how to load one of the other browsers on the Droid RAZR HD (XT926)? Looking for something like what is stock on the VZW Galaxy Nexus now.
Or is there another browser that is secure that you all would recommend? Tried Opera (way too slow) and Firefox (wouldn't pull up desktop even when selected).
By the way, I am rooted running stock JB with bloat froze in case that makes a difference how or what to try.
Thanks for any help you guys can give me.

Opera..slow? Are we talking opera mobile or opera mini as there is one major difference between the two.
If you want the old stock browser just find a ROM with it, unzip the ROM, grab the browser apk and install it. You may need to place it in /system/app/ and set the permissions.

I tried Opera Browser, not the Mini. Also I did try loading the browser from a friends Nexus into the /system/app but it didn't want to work. Perhaps I was using the wrong permissions or the apk was set up differently.
Never thought about extracting from a ROM. Will definitely try it if you can let me know the appropriate permissions.
Thanks all!

So I downloaded another ROM, extracted the browser apk, wouldn't install so I move it & changed the permissions to rw/r/r & it still is not working.
Am I missing something?

Firefox/Dolphin Browsers

Just downloaded Firefox and like it. Some of the add on's are real handy. Have any of you tried it out yet?

I have tried dolphin still like stock better.

I used Firefox for a bit today but decided I really like my tabs at the top in Dolphin, so sticking with that. I'm just used to it, though.

I love the mobile Firefox 4, it's nice to have everything since between pc's and phone so that you can continue whatever you were doing wherever you are.

Dolphin mini

I like using just straight up Dolphin or Dolphin HD, thing I don't like about Firefox 4 is that there's no flash
I've been using Dolphin HD Browsed since my nexus one days.
I Love It.
My search history and cache delete on exit, so my wife never knows I been looking at porn. LOL
in the stock browser you have to delete manually
Anyone use Skyfire?

What Browser?

Just throwing this out there to see which broswers everyone is using. I personally like the stock one. I used firefox for a little bit but since it was only still in beta it wasn't the greatest. Ie wouldn't format correctly with zoom and radio buttons and txt boxes wouldn't function properly. I haven't given dolphin a try or any other browser that might be out there. Let's see what your opinions are.........

I use FireFox just because of the FF sync with my laptop and desktop, but it sucks that I have to switch to the default to watch flash content.

+1 Miren!
10Char
depending on device, I use many:
Low end phone (huawei ascend on cm7) maxathon browser, renders pages astronomically faster than any other browser
Mid-end phone (htc hd2 -hyperdroid cm7) stock, kills miren/skyfire/maxathon/dolphin on my phone, easily. The flash integration is amazing in android's stock browser is more than enough to get the job done, completely content with my 6 second loading time for massive pages.
Tablets (transformer-stock 3.1 rom) I have no clue, the stock browser feels like the ipad in responsiveness and rendering (great thing) but occasionally "freaks out" and acts glitchy, have yet to experiment

Miren
.......
What is it about Miren that everyone likes? I installed it hoping to configure it differently than the stock browser for use with certain websites. I quickly found out it is just an overlay of the stock browser and the settings where the same for both. I did like the tabbed feature it added. Can someone tell me if Dolphin is the same, an overlay that uses the stock browser?

Opera Mini is the best, hands down.

Try Dolphin HD. I have Miren and Dolphin but prefer Dolphin. Then again I don't have a problem with the stock one...
the stock one is fine by me....
Although I don't use....I believe Dolphin HD is prob. the best alternative
Firefox (which I am avid Firefox user) is HORRIBLE....well not horrible but horribly slow ATM.....I will wait til' they develop it more
I use stock........nothing seems worth it to trade for (although havn't tried Miren, so I will)
I kept going back to the stock one as well...

I'm experimenting with Dolphin Mini now. Definitely seems better than Opera mini. For just general browsing I like it because of the reduced data consumption.

Then you haven't tried Miren. Seriously, I won't ever use stock again.
Instant forward and back, use volume keys or swipe direction to do so. That sold it for me.

Stock Browser Is Acting Up

Hello
My stock browser is not working that well. It'll freeze up which causes the phone to reboot. I have javascript turned off and flash content to on demand.
Thanks for any help.

I gave up on the stock browser the first day and installed opera mobile.

I've always preferred the AOSP browser.copy to system/app and reboot.the bookmark button is at the bottom when u hit menu making one handed browsing easier and u can scroll before the page is thru loading without the checkerboard crap. Ill Upload it in a second
here ya go. its much better than stock
Get dolphin hd

Btw before u copy it to system/app u could rename the stock one in case u wanna go back. Just put a .bak on the end of browser.apk on the stock one.

Be very careful with dolphin hd. Do your homework in it as it's been reported to record user information and upload it back without user consent.

So if you rename the stock browser to browser.apk do it crew anything else up? Do it combine with any other system files? Is there a difference in resources when using firefox compared to the stock browser?

Quickest browser?

Hi,
I'm fed up with Chrome browser on my Nexus S. Way too laggy for single core.
What is the best lightest, quickest browser for Nexus S now?
I have tried Dolphin but don't really like the layout. Prefer something minimal similar to Chrome but with no lag.
Is boat browser still going? I remember that from a few years ago.
Any recommendations appreciated.
I'm currently trying out Helly Bean FYI.
Cheers.

PS. Stock is the best one for me as well
Me Gusta!
I am a bit of a purist, and have used the stock browser more than anything else. I do like the smoothness of Opera and the quickness of Opera Mini, however Opera is so large, it can be slow, and Mini doesn't support flash. A few weeks ago, I tried Naked Browser, and it has become my daily driver. It's minimalistic, which I like, and quite quick. Only thing I don't like, and this minor, is the icon. So I simply change it to the stock browser icon (Holo HD launcher), and I'm good to go.
Firefox is the way to go.
i use opera mobile... what is the difference between mobile and mini?
dolphin browser beta, google chrome with gpu rendering active (flags) holo browser

i found the default browser of Cyanogen/slim bean really fast ! Not only because of loading time, but also with the side-pie system !:good:
Try Naked Browser. It is very light and doesen't look fancy but it is by far the fastest i've ever tried.

That makes two of us! (Did you notice post #8?)
I'm using Opera Mobile. I found the stock browser was okay, but lacked something that I can't remember now. Mobile also supports Flash. I will give Naked a try though.

Sadly, i didn't!
Believe it or not, but i don't like the Naked Browser icon so i changed it to stock browser icon too.
I gave naked browser a go in the end but just didn't like it. Didn't seem any faster than stock to me and that address bar looked awful.
So it's stock for me. Seems to combine speed with slick functionality.

I'v been using One Browser. Not sure if it's faster than the Stock, but it's been doing a good job for me so far.
I remember Opera Mini been fast too.

I was using dolphin till today when I tried this. With dolphin you need to delete a preferences file before you can use it with flash, next worked right away. I may go back to dolphin though as I prefer top of app tab browsing as opposed to needing a separate screen to access tabs.

Hmm, not a good start for me. I just downloaded and tried going to one of my car forum sites. It won't let me login. When I out the cursor in the username and password fields it pulls up the keyboard like it should but even though I am typing nothing is being input in to the field.
