Cropped image in videos - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have noticed that if I try to zoom in the image when watching a movie with any player in order to get rid of the upper and lower black bars while keeping the original aspect ratio, no matter if I use hardware or software decoders, I always get the annoying effect that the image does not remain centered, but instead it shifts down-right such that on the screen, only the upper left corner of the image is shown.
I'm not too shure, but I think that thks issue has started to appear only recently, maybe after I have installed my current ROM, which is the german CLL3. Can anybody check/confirm and if possible suggest a solution, if ever a solution exists?

Windows media player in full screen

Hi,
since coreplayer refuses to work properly to stream media through orb; it works once after a fresh installation before giving an error, it seems I'm stuck with windows media player. It works great, although I'ts kind of annoying that the picture is centered on the screen with black borders around it. Of course I want to use all that screen real estate. So is there any way to "tell" windows media player to zoom in to cover the entire screen?
Thanks in advance
does the full screen button not work for you then?
Lol..
I'll take that as he didn't notice it... Lol

It does, but even if press it the picture is centered on the screen. I suppose the reason why this happening is that the resolution of the video is lower than that of the screen, which is why i want to zoom in.

[Q] Nexus S - screen appears to be off-centre after upgrade to 2.3.4

Hello,
I hope I've placed this in the right place - if not, please feel free to let me know and I'll post it/move it elsewhere
I've recently upgraded my Nexus S to 2.3.4 (manually, not OTA), and I've noticed a slight problem with the screen. I have a friend who also updated their Nexus S manually to 2.3.4, and appear to be exhibiting the same problems. I wonder if anyone else can confirm if their Nexus S is doing the same thing.
On the device unlock screen, the right-hand edge of the right-hand buttons (3, 6, 8, DEL) is cut off (rather than having a border)
On the left-hand side of the screen (when held in portrait mode) has a slightly green tint to it (not seen in 2.3.3)
When held in landscape mode, the green tint appears on the bottom of the screen
The onscreen keyboard seems less precise - the wrong letters are sometimes typed (despite the fact I'm sure I pressed the right key!)
Just an update - I've spoken to a friend of mine who upgraded his (brand new) Nexus S to 2.3.4 OTA, and he is seeing the same problems that I described.
(He's recently moved from iPhone to Android, and thought the keyboard issue was him just not being used to the Android keyboard)
Have any other people experienced these problems with their Nexus S on 2.3.4?
No prob over here. Could you please post some pics/screenshots? Which nexus s model do u have?

Hi deeren,
I have the Nexus S GT-i9020 (bought and used in the UK, if that helps).
I'll take some pictures tonight (can't screenshot as not rooted, and at work so don't have camera!)
I've attached two images to this post:
lockscreen.jpg - this shows the buttons 'falling' off the edge of the screen
greenbar.jpg - difficult really to demonstrate this, but there is a slight green bar at the top of the picture (it's far more noticeable when looking at the screen in person)
I'm not sure if I can upload video - if I can, I'll try and take a video demonstrating the inaccuracy of the keyboard if that's any help.
Has anyone else come across any of the problems I've mentioned? I haven't had chance yet to re-image my phone and see if the issue re-occurs.
The PIN entry keypad is off-center on my device as well. However, I think it's just that particular screen.
I don't have any color anomalies though.
I didn't notice the keypad being off-centre in 2.3.3, but it may well have been. My main bugbear is the fact that the keyboard accuracy is definitely off in 2.3.4.

Im using 2.3.4 Nexus S I9023 (NOT rooted. all stock)
its not off centered on mine. i have a few questions for you:
1) are you using a third party lockscreen or something? could be that program?
2) are you using a 3rd party browser too?
i tested all my apps and screens and observed the homescreen, theyre all equally aligned. you may want to try to check stock calculator, stock calendar, etc and see if its off centered

Did you set your lockscreen to require a PIN. Because it definitely is off center, and it is a UI design bug on that particular screen. I really think anyone will see this. Nothing on my phone is off center except that one screen.
Menu > Settings > Location and security > Set up lockscreen > PIN
Enter a PIN and confirm it
Turn screen off
Turn screen on
Numbers on right side (3, 6, and 9) will extend all the way to edge of the screen. Numbers on left side (1, 4, and 7) will have border visible between button and edge of the screen.

[Q] Pixels Issue

Is anyone having display issues with the bottom 3 pixel rows?
It's not entirely annoying.
The whole display is shifted up 3 pixels. (not the physical display)
The 3 rows of pixels on the bottom stretch out the image.
You can see what I mean if you use the ChargerBar application.
By sending the bar to the bottom 1px in height, the bar is stretched out by 3px.
Then send the bar up to the top and it disappears.
You would have to increase the height of the bar by 3px.
I want to show a video. But I don't have a camera...
Here's a video of the issue.

I see it too... running cm7. Something needs to be done to the display, just change the number a little. If linuxbozo was here he could easily but i have no idea how sorry. Just try to ignore it, thats what i do. It is hardly noticible.
I see it on mine running emancipation....

Its normal, noticed it as well.
I think its two pixels, not 3
What's strange is that when I reboot the device it's normal, the way it should look on the bottom. Once I turn off the screen for the first time and then turn it back on, this issue happens, and it stays until the device is rebooted again.

Lags when i passed from portrait to landscape and viceversa

Hi guys,
i have an annoying problem with my fabolous Nexus 5. I post the problem some pages back but now i will explain better. The problem is that when i passed from portrait to landscape (almost in every apps) i have some strange lags and my phone for a few seconds is really slow then it goes to work again normally with the normal speed. Of course i tried to clean install my rom and after some the problem appears again...i installed CatLog to see what can cause the problem and i saw some errors that are related to the sensors, is there a way to test the sensors of my phone to see if they have some hardware problems? Or how can i see if there are problems with some apps that are in background? Because if i check the core of my phone they go online all fours when i change portrait to landscape and i don't think it's normal...what can be? Thanks to all in advance!
Ok guys.. Thanks also if no one answered! The problem was the music widget for Walkman that i installed from play Store.. I don't know why but it was the cause of strange lags!

[Q] Screen blank when video playback unless multi-touched ??

Hello,
Stock galaxy Note Pro 12.2 (Android 4.4.2)
When playing back video, the screen goes dark but the audio continues.
At first I thought this was a "Yahoo Screen" issue, as it was noticeable when my wife tried to watch the Dave Matthews' Band broadcast a few days ago, but then I noticed it was happening on regular video playback taken on the internal camera as well.
BUT, the picture returns when there are at least *3* fingers on the screen. 1 or 2 makes it flicker like there is some sort of a short, but 3 or more and the video shows up crystal clear and normal.
I really don't want to send the thing back to Samsung if I can avoid it, so any other suggestions not requiring an advanced EE degree would be appreciated. Thanks!
Have you tried a different videoplayer? Diceplayer, VLC...

So far I have only used the stock player, another player attached to some photo editing program, and the Yahoo! Screen app, but based on the behavior I would think it software related (doesn't change behavior based on how "hard" I press the screen, just how many places)
