im guessing that it is a system app so heres what i did.
1. In root explorer go to system/app and find gmail.apk
2. then press and hold it and then press move.
3 then move it to data app.
4. reboot your kindle
5. go to setting/apps/ find gmail then uninstall
6. after the uninstall download the new gmail
7 then try installing. that should work.
I couldn't get it to sync my accounts. It kept asking for access. Any ideas?

I am definitely not doing something right. Every time I try installing the Downloaded apk I keep getting a parsing error message. I am rooted running the stock Kindle 1 (no custom roms).

It may not be the file, as I was able to download it from a couple different sources. It may be that I am just doing something wrong or my Kindle is incompatible. I'm not sure though, so that's all I'm trying to figure out.

I would re-download it and try again, does the issue arise from flashing a zip or are you pushing it manually to /system/app?

Ive tried pushing and flashing.
Flashing every zip found on XDA for the 4.2 camera.
It records fine. But the recorded video doesbt play.
It reads 'video can't be played' and then it gets deleted. :/

Which app are you using to play it, look for MX player in the play store, let me know if you get a different result!

FYI, one thing I've noticed about this zip is that it may install some apps in non-standard locations, such as gmail in system/app. Since this is different than other gapps packages (gmail is usually not included, so is installed via market to data/app), the CM backup script won't keep this from ROM flash to ROM flash unless you follow up with this app package flash again.
This link includes a zip with everything from 4.2, http://d-h.st/wBX

Anyone have any issues with the 4.2 Play store? I can't figure out why this is happening, but out seems only a handful of my apps are compatible. I had originally changed my LCD.density to 210, and then read that it had to be set to one of the non-custom numbers of 160 or 240, so I changed it to 160 (for fun), but it appears I have the exact same problem.
I never had an issue with the play store or apps requiring 160 or 240 (though I know some apps and games won't be compatible unless the LCD.density, the model, and manufacturer are changed in the build.prop file)... So the 160 or 240 setting seems incorrect.
Anyway, I have tried clearing data/cache for the play store, and the same thing for Google services framework (and reboot), but still have no change.
Could it be anything else in my build.prop file?
I am running Baked Black Bean (a JB 4.1.2 AOKP ROM).
Any thoughts or help are appreciated!

Don't like the keyboard. When I swipe, it wont show my swear words, such as ****, ****, ****, and so on, even though I saved the words to my dictionary. **** always shows as duck and I can never type ******. I will stick with Swype Hopefully Android will allow to swipe custom saved words in the future / official release.
I'm running pa 2.51. My Google play store is updated to 3.9.17 vending. I want to DL a inverted 3.9.17 phone sky.apk. I understand you can't have both. I'm wondering if I can delete the vending apk using tibu and then just install the phone sky.apk. could someone let me no if that might work or let me no of another way to do it. Really appreciate any help.

I've done a search on the fourms to find the answer, but I still can't, so here it goes....Have been using the nightlies since the 4th of December, daily updating with new nightlies. Here's the deal....I updated with 1/4/13 now none of my google services work. Play store and gmail won't open, just keep FC. I cleared all the google apps data/cache and still no-go. So I did a complete clean and install with the orginial rom I installed (12/4/12) to make sure Play store worked, which it did. Next I installed the 1/4/13 updated but got the FC on Play Store and gmail again. I also installed the JB gapps apk separately. Anyone else have this problem?
Did you use the actual gapps version of 12-12-12? Works like a charm for me with cm 10.1 (1-4-13).

Thanks for the response. Yes. I cleaned all the services and reinstalled the gapps again.....finally started working!!!!

Re: [ROM][4.1.2]JellyBelly Omega-Total Customization-CM10 (unofficial)[Updated 1/28/1
I'm enjoying this rom, yet I'm used to my sense rom I was using which has email notification count, missed txt count etc.
That's not the biggest deal, one thing I was curious about was related to the hardware search button. I tried it and it doesn't do anything, also the voice search app doesn't open.
Anyone else notice this or does anyone have a fix? I'm running the latest version.
Thank you.

That should fix it, it has for me every time... for some reason baking GApps in on JB seems to cause that problem for some... including me a few times. You can reboot into recovery and wipe cache/dalvik and flash GApps and that will fix it (use the ones in the OP under "older releases")
Had no option to uninstall voice search. Yet I fixed the problem, I found google search needed updating. Now all is working as it should.
