I installed CM10 on my skyrocket and then was trying to flash a new ktoonsez kernel and when rebooted, the phone wouldnt turn on. When i connect to the computer, a window pops keeps popping up asking to format the E drive. 1st i didnt want to format, but ultimately i clicked on format and then the window appeared that windows cannot format e drive.
It appears that something went wrong with the software on the internal memory while flashing and it got corrupted. Now is there a way to format it and install the stock software again?

Pull the battery out and let it sit for awhile then try again?? Do you have a link to the kernel you flashed?

I got the kernel from XDA and used the Touchwiz jellybean version from this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28399829
You used a kernel meant for the s3. You're surely hard bricked. Best bet is either warranty or mobiletechvideos.com jtag repair. That'll set you back $50.
That's what I thought too, I've never seen that kernel for the skyrocket... +1 on the hard brick and jtag

I Downloaded and installed your rom from HERE using rom manager, And I'm not sure what I did wrong but when I turn on my phone it goes to Phone Logo screen (first screen) then all black with a corrupted blue lines at the bottom about half an inch long. Then, a couple seconds later it goes to a full corrupted screen. then it just does everything repeatedly.
Sorry I can't take screen shots since my phone doesn't work. But any idea of what I might of done wrong?
My phone is already rooted and CwM was already installed. Not sure if the installation process was messed up or not. And I can't get my phone into the CwM recovery to fix this problem.

There are a bunch of threads and a sticky! (2nd topic in the Dev Forum) that state Rom Manager does not work with this phone. That is what you did wrong.
you should have flashed the rom in CWM, but since the damage is done, you will have to get the phone in download mode and use ODIN to flash a new rom and start over again.
Hopefully, you can still get in DL mode by holding both volume buttons at the same time and inserting the USB cable.
use FB's starter pack post for the files you need for ODIN, and don't use Rom Manager anymore!

That's another download mode screen. The previous screen you described sounds like you didn't have the right boot loaders in place. Check out The KJ6 Heimdall One-Click Collection. Select any of the three of those you want to use, and follow Bhundven's instructions (really easy). All you need to have installed previously is Java.
Let us know how it goes.

The only reason I used Rom manager is cause I was told it was one way to install the roms
he said he bricked it trying to upgrade to ICS.
is the sticky at the top still the way to unbrick it? i noticed that a couple links were dead in the first post. granted i didn't go through all 17 pages, just wanted to make sure there wasn't anything newer then whats already been posted.
edit: he did say that the screen is showing s/w if that matters
Was it bricked by flashing a o2x rom? I think that may be the hardest brick I have heard of but still fixable. I believe if that is the case than following the sticky should restore the baseband and everything else.
Honestly though I would first try just reflashing CWM via nvflash, boot into recovery and load a stable GB rom. If that works, great.

You apparently you did not even read the first post. XP only, will not work with Windows 7.
"As many have stated, pushing the v21E_00.kdz via the KDZ_FW_UPD program does work. It's just touchy.
This is a step by step guide to get you back in to working shape.
Note: You MUST do this via a PC running Windows XP. Running Vista/7 in compatibility mode is not going to work, period.
Edit: As an alternative, a virtual environment running XP will do the job. Those steps are up to you."
That's not true. I updated the baseband using win7 on my first try. No need for comparability mode.

duple and lurker, thanks for the confirmation that it works with 7
when i try and push the kdz i get the dreaded phone not found.
ok im on my xp machine here at work and heres what i got:
Part 1: Download the files you will need below.
V21E_00.kdz
KDZ_FW_UPD_EN
One-Click-G2x-recovery-flasher-06-16.rar
LG USB Drivers G2x
Part 2:
1) Install the LG G2x USB drivers to your WinXP machine.
2) Extract the entire contents of the One-Click recovery in to a folder and keep it handy.
3) Remove the battery from the phone. Hold both volume buttons and plug in the USB cable. If you are asked for a driver, look in the APX folder where you extracted the One-Click recovery archive.
4) Run OneClickRecoveryFlasher.exe and flash the stock recovery. Wait for the process to finish and close all windows and unplug the phone.
no problems with above steps. after that nothing works. when i put the battery back in and turn on thats when i get the flashing black screen, not back to the s/w screen.
5) Put the battery back into the phone and turn it on. You will be back at the S/W Upgrade screen. This is where you want to be! Now plug the USB cable back in to the phone. If everything is up to snuff you should have no driver problems at this point.
6) Extract KDZ_FW_UPD_EN.7z in to a folder. Inside is a msxml.msi. You need to run and install this first!
7) Run KDZ_FW_UPD.exe.. Leave the type set to CDMA and the phone mode set to DIAG. DO NOT CLICK ON "Read phone information"
8) Click the folder icon and load the V21E_00.kdz
9) Click launch software update (and pray!)
ok just for craps and giggles i tried booting into recovery and actually got the box with arrow and android! but it then reboots back to the lg screen and then flashing black screen
WOOT! finally able to get into CWM recovery!
is all that needs to be done now is install a stable rom?

also it appears that the market wasn't on that version of the rom. is that a quick fix?
Now you have the recovery and baseband sorted, start from scratch and do a full wipe(including system internal/external SD). Then flash a stable ROM Weapon/EB to make sure everything is good. Just my 2 cents

You were lucky, indeed!
A CM nightly can be stable too, however I would flash either Weapon or Eagles Blood for a couple of days to have a piece of mind that everything is working cool. The most important would be a proper full wipe (cache, dalvik, system under mounts and storage, battery stats and imho internal and external SD too) too get rid of the previous mess caused by the unsuccessful flash, etc.

Well after about 30 mins of Odin being stuck with the "<ID:0/009> SetupConnection.." prompt I figured it froze up or something. I'm trying to reload the .tar and it is still doing the same thing...

Sometimes its as simple as rebooting your computer, open Odin as admin, select your tar under PDA, connect your phone, make sure com is lit up and flash. My windows machine gets freaky like that sometimes and just fails or sits there doing nothing. Driver issue I assume even though they are there. Thats a personal choice. Currently there are many different roms floating around but it depends on what you want.
Deciding on which to get is a matter of 2 simple questions for me: Do you want to be up to date, since ICS is the new hottest, thing (sexier UI IMO, some app issues, but overall feel wise. it makes the phone feel so much better, and fits the sleek profile, but lets not have me go on about aesthetics lol.
Or do you want functionatilty, extra options, overclocking (changing clock speeds) and things like that, currently we can only do that on 2.3.5/6 (Gingerbread, also known as GB)
I personally like ICS. Sometimes the Skyrocket just has to be sexy than the powerhouse e-beast that it is. That will happen whenever the Official ICS comes out

You don't need the sammobile tar unless you're returning to stock. If you wanna just be stock rooted, flash CWM in odin. Make a nandroid backup. Then put the superuser zip on the sd card and flash it in CWM.
If you wanna run a custom rom from our dev section, just flash CWM, make a backup and then flash the rom which will already be rooted

As in? I dont know, Ill tell you everything Ive flashed, maybe you can figure it out lol. I got the phone, flashed leak 1, then MIUI, then CM10, then StockEd, then NUMA, now back on CM10. I have flashed the bootstrap (obviously lol). When it comes to the RSDLite n stuff, I tried the most recent 5.7 and for FXZ whatever the most recent is. My boot menu version is 0A.72. My fastboot says from top to bottom...
AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S)
0A.72
Battery OK
OK to Program
Connect USB
Data Cable
Thats all it says. When I connect the cable it tries to install the drivers on windows side , but then fails.
If you need any other info, just let me know of what n possibly where. I know most android stuff, its when it comes to moto specific things like FXZ n stuff I suck at, this is my first locked device n first moto
Okay so basically go and double check you have the most current drivers. Then if you want to flash stock ics here is the link where I posted where to get it and rsd 6 as well.

And try to run the recovery factory format. Then run the fastboot after. I should not matter but I always did it before I used fastboot.

Like I've said I can't get RSDLite or FXZ to work. I went to RSDLites code.google.com or whatever n they had links for every RSD n both 32bit n 64bit drivers, I figured that'd have the most recent there. I'll try straight from motos site n see if it works

yes you don't necessarily have too but it is good practice to wipe everything before you flash a file using fastboot even though fastboot removes everything naturally. And basically you flash the stock 4.0.4 fastboot file .zip using RSDlite with the phone on fastboot mode. You cant flash any other rom like numa or anything else just the OTA updates which restore it back to stock.

When I plugged it into the computer it would only show my sdcard. And would not allow me to use the data on it. If you have a sdcard then it can't hurt to switch it. I am not saying that is the problem but it is a possibility.

Well I have no idea then:/ my only suggestion is to see if you can send them the phone for repair or for a replacement even though you did not buy the phone from att or motorola. There might be a way to solve this problem but I have no idea how. Maybe one of the devs on here can help? Like the one that ported MIUI to the atrix? And did you make sure that its not the cable and not the phone selected on charge only through the settings? Little things that no one thinks of sometimes that make a huge impact on the phone. Because if some how you can flash a fastboot file but not store data then maybe the drivers for the phone are messed up? Have you tried to store data on it from another friends computer?

Yes I have tried 3 diff computers to no avail. The cable is fine it worked before the MIUI ROM. I posted a reply to the devs MIUI thread and private msged hom n he wont reply, its been like a week :/ Like I was telling a friend of mine....maybe the bootloader got borked cuz its the only thing I know of that doesnt get touched when flashing roms or fxz'n. I mean is there a way to flash a fresh ICS ready bootloader or kernel? Hell I cant even do tjat cuz I finally fxz'd n it still doesnt work n now I have no root n cant do **** til I root. Any idea of a way to root or temp root on the phone. If i cpuld at least temp root I can perm root myself after n just deal with no usb mounting, Im stuck on OEM ICS n hate it lol, I wanna get back on CM10(preferably with usb mounting, but just wanna be back on a jellybean ROM now lol)

i was trying to flash to a different rom and it being really late i installed a custom CWM on TWRP after flashing a rom that borked on me and i pulled the battery while the bootloader was going on. now i cant flash anything and for some d**n reason my phone will not go into download mode for me to use odin. ive tried downloading the newest stock firmware(4.1.2) and installijng it thru cwm but i keep getting a installation aborted text. im so lost and i never do this sorta thing...but being sleep deprived and now even more so im afraid of the worst. can anyone lend me some help please???
First off you have a recovery so its not that bad. Pull the battery and get some sleep try to chill out.

Jig does nothing for our phone you're worthless tired you don't think properly nobody does but anyway grab a cwm flashable twrp then just flash a ROM you probably have some old version of cwm that newer Roms don't like
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
you stated that u dl stock 4.1.2 and used cwm to install, cant do that w/cwm unless its a cwm/twrp flashable zip file
u r tired, rest, read the stickies on installing cwm/twrp and/or restoring to stock
usb jig was a waste of money
there are flashable zip files for cwm and twrp in the 1stop sticky, flash either one then flash a rom
yes i tried flashing a stock 4.1.2 rom that was converted into a flashable zip file. and ok ill try said instructions and see if it works but so far nothing has been able to been flashed.
I'm vaguely recalling a time when I was trying to flash a ROM and it was giving me an insufficient memory error. You may have to do some spring cleaning if that's your issue.
its not really giving me an error besides the installation aborted one...but now its not showing any zips on my sd card at all...smh in confusion and misery.

It's just an sd card, be thankful it's not the phone.

Did you try to run chkdsk -f on the card on a computer? This will check for and fix any file system errors.

I tried this and it said that there were no errors. Now I don't know what to do bc my phone is getting to the point where its not recognizing the sdcard but works just fine with other cards.

Then that means you had access to DL mode all along and never needed the jig in the first place.

How come I couldn't get to the downloading screen? all my phone would do when I done the process was show my battery for half a second and then start vibrating.

User error you probably did something incorrectly but those button combos are hard coded they don't change if you can get to it with a jig then its something you did wrong.

Could be the usb ports. I have a problem with my pc recognizing my device. Laptop works fine but pc doesn't. Who knows but jig doesn't do anything special for the i727.
