Ok at random times, my phone will be showing full service...all 5 bars...or sometimes even just 3 bars....but showing it has service. Yet I have no internet and cant make phone calls or receive phone calls.
If I reboot the phone or turn airplane mode on and back off...everything will start working again....but this only last for a little while.....
I first noticed it after trying out LeedDroid, so I restored cleardroid and the problem was still there, I've since switched to the Ace Inspire rom by gtg....and tried using both the 26.06.06.30 radio and the 26.09.04.11 radio and there matching RIL. Same problem on both. When its working data speeds are great...best I've seen....but the problem is, its not always working.
EDIT: So I ended up formatting my SD card and starting all over with attn1's rooted stock rom, then flashed ClearDroids rom and so far so good, no problems.....my data speeds are back down to about 2.5, and I'm definitely missing the 4 to 5 I was seeing on some of the GB roms...
A little scared to flash anything else, so does anyone have any ideas on what might have happened, or had any experience with there phone not connecting even though it says there is service?
Any thoughts????
Did you do a full erase, wipe cache, dalvik prior to flashing the ROM?
My guess would be something to do w/ the latter radio flashing. I lost good data speeds due to radio flashing and had to rerun the hack kit on.the rom I was usin to get them back.
Try.flashing just.the rom you want without the ril and see what happens. If I flash the ril, it breaks GPS on mine.

Yeah I always do a full erase, cache and dalvik before all my roms, I dont have that much stuff on my phone in the first place, so I dont mind starting from scratch each time.

Thats good to know....maybe the RIL flashing is what did it...its just odd that when I restored my nandroid back up of ClearDroid...the problem was still there, even tried flashing the Radio 3 times in row.... one minute I would be getting 4mb down and 1.8 up....then 2 minutes later...no data, no phone calls...yet full 5 bars of service....then if I waited longer...it might start working again...and so on.

Similar issue here on a STOCK rom. Looking at H+ with 3 bars and while the phone app works, I have absolutely no internet access.

There us something going on with flashing some of the desire hd roms and then the inspire roms. I lost gps under leedroid and after restoring a backup some thing stayed and was still causing the issues, it continued after flashing numerous roms. I had to redo the hack kit and start from scratch to fix it. I bet that you are having something of that sort going on. I was scared to flash anything after I got it set up but now I stick to either aosp builds or roms by US devs and haven't had any issues. Also on a side note, I have heard some people saying that gps on the inspire only works with a clear view if the sky, and mine will lock inside to 10 m in under 15 seconds. I think you just need the right rom.

After flashing hellfire ICS I wasnt able to recieve any texts. I then flashed Hellfire cm7 and still same issue, also tried eaglesblood. I then tried getril, it wasnt matching but updating it didnt do anything. Now I just flashed 2.3.3 and text is working but I have no data. With every flash I wiped everything and used g2x scrubber. Also I tried using different APN...What can I do to fix this?
So, you reverted to a non 4.0.3 rom and the issue still persist, like a GB 2.3.7 rom?

yea
Yea, last night I flashed a eaglesblood over 2.3.3, this time manualy wiping and not using scrubber..and it worked, I was able to use data and recieve texts. But now it just stopped working and I am unable to recieve texts again. I have fixed permissions, cleared caches, and tried all the RIL in getril. Why would it randomly stop working??? this is so annoying
..BTW i restored only a few apps with titanium and did not restore any of the data, just apps.

Maybe try flashing a new baseband and then going into your apn list and restoring default apns.
Could possibly be a sim card problem or sim card reader hardware issue... dont wanna jump to the worst possible scenario tho..
I have the jul 15 baseband, isnt that the latest? Idk if it would be hardware since everything was good before I flashed ics .
When you flash, are you wiping data, cache, dalvik cache, and system before flashing?
Yea, I wipe data, cache, dalvik, then format system, then flash rom which is on root of sd card.
Is there anything else I can delete/format when installing a rom? What data is being retained that I have this issue with every rom?
update: Just flashed bionix 2.3.3 rom with stock kernel and everything is working, its like it works only when it wants to..ill try a cm7 rom again later.
you aren't the first to report the same exact thing... I'm waiting for jboxer or another dev to say something... it might have something to do with T-Mobile or your SIM... have you tried entering your number manually... have you tried without data connected or on wifi?
Didn't hear the mention of g2x scrubber always a good thing...

Something I would do would be to...
Download Rom/Gapps
Unzip to make sure it's complete and uncorrupted DL
CWM Recovery
Wipe Data/Cache/System/Davlik/BattStats
G2xScrubber (In case)
Install Rom
Install Gapps
Wipe Cache/Davlik/BattStats
Fix Permissions
Boot let it sit quick..
Hard Reboot (Power + Volume Up)
Edit: For some ICS Roms sometimes you have to enable data or toggle it on/off for it to work.
ok

this was a replacement from tmobile, my old one was perfect but i broke the headphone jack.
....its working now.Dont ask me how. All is well in the cosmos. Thanks
Few weeks ago I noticed a strange problem, that appeared on my phone... Every few hours it loses all connections (GPS/GSM/Mobile Internet) for 30-40 seconds... And it happens again & again & again... At first I thought it's because I flashed new radio (2.40), but after flashing back 2.29 with all RILs problem still exists... Flashing 2.41 radio didn't help too... I tried few ROMs with full wipe (ViperXL/Nocturnal Limited), but it didn't cure my phone....
Just wonder, what could it be and how to fix it? Any ideas? Can it be software or hardware problem?
P.S. I have Asian One XL, Hboot 1.09.
My reply will probably be of little help, but on my first HOX, this happened to me constantly (on stock) until I warrentied it. New phone hasn't done it yet. I searched on google and found a lot of people having the same issue, hopefully yours is not a defective unit.
RUU and see if it happens on stock to rule out firmware issues
Try wiping only cache and Dalvik, and reboot, and see if that helps. For some reason, I've seen this a couple times on my phone after flashing a new ROM (after full wipe: cache, Dalvik, and factory reset). Then after just wiping cache and Dalvik, the data drops go away.
Hopefully, your case is as simple as that.
I have recently had this problem start happening to my phone out of nowhere. I am with T-Mobile, have an HTC Sensation and am currently running Paranoid Android. When I realized I couldn't get data to come back on I tried to revert to a back up that worked perfectly. After restoring the backup the problem still persists. When I do a factory data reset and fresh ROM install the data works fine until I connect to Wi-Fi. When I turn Wi-Fi back off the little H above the cell signal bars will blink every 5 seconds but never fully establish a connection. This is happening no matter what settings and no matter what rom I run. I am completely stumped at this point. Can anyone please help me out? I would provide a log cat but not sure if its possible with a mac? Thanks in advance to anyone who can provide me with useful information.

Have you tried upgrading to version 17? I would make sure and do a full wipe then install version 17 and see if problem still persists. I'm also running paranoid Android and never had any problems except once when I flashed over an update without wiping, I was having data issues then. Once I did a full wipe my data restored perfectly. I'd give this a try and see how it goes. I know I have this same problem with cm roms but never with paranoid Android. Give it a try with FULL wipe and see if issue is gone. Best wishes

I tried Dragonkors full wipe script followed by flashing v17 this morning, and this same issue is still happening. This happens on my phone no matter what ROM I use, and after full wipe every time. Is there some settings stored on my sd card that I could try to reset to make the switching from Wi-Fi to high speed data network work again? I don't think this is a ROM problem since its happening on all ROM's. Its not how I'm flashing ROM's either as I have been doing so since the Sensation came out. I don't know what is left to troubleshoot this problem, and am kind of out of ideas. I hope a developer on here sees this post, and can make sense of the situation as I cannot.

I have completely formatted the sd card, re-downloaded V17, placed on blank sd card, formatted all partitions except sd card, installed V17.
Still have same problem
I think the problem is narrowed down to faulty sim card, something on T-mobiles end, or a hardware problem??
Anyone got any other advice?

I was experiencing this issue on paranoid android also. My mobile data stopped working on v.16, I went back to v.15, then I flashed v.17 and it fixed.
Also, you can try it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34906909#post34906909
Or any other rom. Right now I'm using aokp by frankinstine as it gives me more battery.
Good luck.

The crappy thing is aokp by frankinstine is one of the roms I flashed hoping that this problem would not persist, but it did.
I did a factory data reset, installed the rom, connected to wi-fi, disconnected wi-fi= data dead.
The only way I have been able to make it come back on so far is to: go into settings >dev options>launch tools>connectivity
Inside connectivity settings, I hit Remove Default Route, then Stop HiPri, then Start HiPri in this order and it will make my data connection come to life.
I don't understand why the phone won't connect automatically anymore. This is a pain to have to do every time I leave wi-fi. If anyone understands why this might happen out of no where when no changes were made to a perfectly functioning ROM setup please feel free to chime in. Thanks.

Yea I tried switching all that around...made no difference. I'm going by T-Mobile tomorrow to get a new sim card to see if that fixes the issue.

UPDATE:
Getting an updated SIM card solved this problem. Not sure if mine was faulty or just out of date... it was the one that came with the phone when the Sensation came out. Also a guy at the T-mobile store told me they are adding several LTE towers in my area at the moment, so maybe this rendered my SIM card obsolete. Not sure exactly what was going on, but at least I finally found a solution. Thanks to those who posted to help me troubleshoot this strange problem.

I flashed the ROM and baseband per instructions in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...-android-4-4-3-ktu84m-rooted-busybox-t2557523
I had 4.4.2 and he said it had to be stock, and it was with the exception of potentially having some system files modified due to other apps, like Android Tuner. I wiped Dalvik cache and regular cache, installed both files as mentioned through TWRP, and yet upon starting I get a notice to update to 4.4.3 despite already being on 4.4.3, and it can't connect to T-Mobile which is my service provider. Am I doing something wrong here? I figured by "stock" ROM he meant the original and not CyanogenMod or anything like it. Was that supposed to mean stock Android with zero modifications to the system files?
I didn't want to do a factory reset and have to redo all my data and applications, but if I must then I will.
There is a rough thunderstorm going on so maybe that knocked out T-Mobile service, but I find it rather coincidental.
]UPDATE] Turns out that the storm coincidentally disabled the towers at around the exact time I updated my phone. The phone was flashed fine. T-Mobile is the problem. Thanks for the help!
It doesn't matter what ROM you're coming from but if it's not stock you need to wipe. But whatever mods you have on stock is irrelevant.
If you're having issues connecting,, wiping cache is often the cause. Check. Our imei etc is correct. Maybe fastboot flash a stock cache image or Nandroid restore

It was the original stock that shipped with the phone, with potentially some files modified from an application. Strangely when searching for networks to connect to, Sprint and AT&T show up as normal but not T-Mobile, although their APN's show up as if I am connected but can't get access to their service.
The IMEI within the phone appears to match the worn off label. Either way, I cleared the Dalvik and regular cache again so I'll see what happens when the phone finishes booting.
Surely it's booted by now?

It finished updating the apps and didn't get a connection, however when I traveled outside of my home zone to work, after I reach the spot outside of the city at which there is no LTE support and it drops to EDGE the connection picked up and remained. After I returned from work and got back in the city near my home where it switches back to LTE the connection dropped again and remained that way even after wiping the caches again.
Does this still sound like a software problem or maybe it's on T-Mobile's end?
Fixed
