This is a combo heads up and question to those using the same setup if you've experienced the same thing...
Picked up a couple of the Energizer Qi single position inductive chargers off Amazon, and started using them about 2 weeks ago. I can verify that between the surface of the pad, the fact that there's a natural incline to the pad, and the Nexus 4 being slick as snot - you really need to prop something under the front edge of the pad if not using some kind of non skid tape or TPU case.
Not really a big deal, couple small strips of foam later and problem solved. In case it makes a difference, we tend to charge overnight, and are not using cases or bumpers of any kind. Nor are the aforementioned foam strips interfering with the airflow to the heatsink visible on the backside of the pad.
We have noticed some peculiar behavior. One morning my wife goes to grab her phone off her charging pad and notices the blue indicator light is blinking at a fairly fast rate. The phone seemed to be properly aligned, so we picked it up and noticed no noticeable charge from the night before. Thinking maybe it was an alignment issue, we didn't think much of it. Couple days later, it happened again, this time to my Nexus 4 / charger combo. Since then, I have tried interchanging every combination of power supply, charging pad and Nexus 4, and we've still gotten it a few times.
Researched that particular symptom and the few posts I could find that had any info mentioned it seemed to be an overheat/overcurrent situation. I will note that in none of the cases did either Nexus or pad seem to be abnormally warm. All I could find on Energizer site was someone posting in the FAQs and getting the reply to call their 800 number. I did so, and the really nice agent I talked to is sending me shipping labels and boxes to send both units in.
So, anybody else experiencing the same?

In short yes. But it hasn't interfered with charging to 100%. I notice it when I wake up before the sun does (weekdays) and the light flickers on and off. I think it's trying to keep charge. I don't see anything necessarily wrong or not working.

Thanks for your reply! We get that too and I agree that particular case it does seem to be topping up the battery. But what we have seen on these several occasions doesn't seem to be that. Topping up looks to be light on for a few seconds, then off for a few seconds. The fast blink is just blinkety blinkety blinkety once triggered, with no end in sight.
I was tempted to put on some dubstep and start whirling a glowstick. I don't think the wife would find that as amusing as I would

Same issue
I purchased 4 of the energizer's from Amazon, 2 for me, 2 for the wife. within 2 weeks 2 of the chargers started frequently blinking very fast, and when this occurred the phone wouldn't charge. We each woke up at least once with the charger blinking very fast and a dead phone. Only way to fix was to unplug the charger. We returned all 4 to amazon for a full refund.
Anyone figured out what might cause this yet? I just bought a N4 from a guy on craigslist and he threw in one of these chargers for free. It's been working most of the time, just worries me a little if there's some sort of damage that could be done to the battery or phone...

Anyone else having a problem with the dock not charging? I have to jiggle it to get the charge light on and then it goes off a few hours later.
I have the similar problem now where it won't charge my Nexus One anymore... Do you send it for warranty claim?
Call HTC on 888-216-4736, they will tell you to purchase a replacement unit and give you an RMA on the old one.

I had this issue, only once. I first noticed it shortly after my phone took a (not even that far of one) fall to a hard floor. Immediately after that I had all I could do to get it to charge on the dock. Couple hours later I was looking at the back of my phone and noticed the lower dark piece (that says HTC, directly below the lighter colored band where you could have it engraved) had popped out ever so slightly (right where the 2 different colored pieces come together). I put a little pressure on it and it literally snapped back into place (it was BARELY even visible but was clearly the cause of my issue). Soon as I did that my dock was charging my phone flawlessly again (in fact, I was TRYING to get it in the dock and not charge and failed over and over.). YMMV.
I know this was originally an older post, but if this helps you or anyone else then all the better!
Along the same lines gIMpSTa ... I did not get my N1 factory engraved. Instead I printed my own label and stuck it on the engraving panel. This label (.25" x 2") was as thin as a piece of paper. It was enough tilt the N1 forward ever so slightly, messing up proper seating in the cradle and prevent charging. So a trap for young players.
Not that I am missing questions and answers on this topic. I have seen some here and Android Central.
However I am getting a bit of conflicting answers.
I figured I would ask here and see if I can get maybe 2 answers that agree.
I simply want to know...the Energizer Qi Charging Pad is the best one (by opinion) out there now, until Google puts their orb out ???
With regards to the Energizer, I was told at Best Buy it would not charge with a TPU on. But on AC Forum it said YES, you can leave the case on you have to put it in the right spot.
1. Is that true, you can leave the case on? And finding that "spot", is it a tedious thing or is it fairly easy to lay down?
2. One poster said he would hope that we would not leave the $400 phone charging for many hours. I said, did you mean the Charging pad, or simply plugged into the micro usb, or on a desktop dock.
I don't know his answer. I would assume he just meant the Pad. Would it be bad to leave the phone on the pad, for example, overnight.
While I could hear someone saying that, I would think it would be fine. I think most makers know that overnight is prime time for charging.
3. With regard to my Newtrent external batteries, when full charged, are you supposed to unplug. Or can I leave it plugged in
4. I asked Newtrent if I have my ext. battery plugged in, can I use the phone thru that, if I am for instance working at my desk.
He says he doesn't recomment charging two things at once. I didn't know if he meant anything, like using a a/c to 3 a/c adaptor which wouldn't make sense. Or just the example I am speaking of.
Your help is greatly appreciated.
As far as the charging with a case, mine works just fine. Here's a video I made to show it. Once you know where about to place the phone it's actually a decent area. As you can see I just set it down without tweaking it each time and it works just fine except the 2 times I show where the too low points are.
It charges about 30 percent an hour this way. I haven't left it on over night yet, but when I get another one for my bed room I plan to.

Thanks for the video and letting me see it. As someone said, it is sold out on Amazon. And a friend ordered it for me as a gift from Sears, only to find 4 days later when I called (They did not tell me ) that the order was cancelled. They did not know why. They assumed it was because it was out of stock. (Nice way to communicate with the 3rd party LOL )
Do you know where I can get it. I would get the dual one, but I checked the dimensions, they are pretty big. that is like 12" x 9"
Is the Orb coming out soon?
Lastly, I assume it will be ok to let sit there for hours. How about my ext battery, once that is charged: Can I leave it plugged in?? Can I leave it plugged in while having the micro usb come out to my phone and use the phone the same time. Newtrent guy said he doesn't recommend it I don't know much about it

As to your first question, I have the Energizer charger and my phone charges perfectly fine with a TPU case on it. Also, I've had zero problems lining it up. It's not tedious at all. It charges every time, all the time.

that is one of the ones I wanted to know. I knew that...I must have had a brain fart and forgot that. Even most of the chargers that come with the phone do right?
So you would get this, it's no pain in the neck, and you would get this instead of a dock
Do you know if by chance the Seidio Innodock would fit. I believe so. I think the one they had on the past 10 phones was the same model LOL
I use the same case and charger. I do not place the phone as high on the charger and it still works. I will also confirm that my charger turns off after the phone is charged. I leave mine on the charger at work.
I found my charger on craigslist. Traded a girl for a Nintendo ds and she paid ME $20! The charger still had the plastic on it.

Can someone confirm the behavior of charging on their QI charger. Does it charge to 100% and stay at 100%, or does it drop a few percentage then charge up again? Mine seems to charge to a max of 97% and stay there, but I have not experimented too much yet.

I decided to use my phone without the case today. I noticed that the phone starts wireless charging almost immediately when I set the phone on the charger without a case. With case it takes a couple seconds usually before it starts. I'll have to do some testing over the next day to see if it actually chargers faster or just initiates the charge quicker and I'll let you guys know.

Something else to consider. With my energizer charger, charging starts immediately when my battery is low, but when it's near full, there's a delay before it starts charging.

Agreed. That is the behavior that I'm seeing as well.
I own an Energizer single charger.
Normal thickness cases will still work. The N4 will charge so there's no issue there.
Just that the N4 does seem to get a toasty charging overnight and my N4 only has a back screen protector on so I just caution to be mindful of that.
Personally, if I had a full case or like a leather/vinyl/thick pouch, I would simply take the N4 out of it for overnight charging just to be on the safe side but then again, I baby my devices so... Lol!

Just received my inexpensive amazon wireless charger today (March 8th), shipped on the 27th, so shipping was pretty quick. Cost $29.98 after shipping.
Like the amazon reviews mention, it does beep, but only when the phone is placed on it and not when it is taken off, it also isn't very loud or annoying either.
It looks great and feels solid, it senses the phone right away even with my case, and seems to charge quite quickly.
Overall it seems to be a great alternative to the official orb, especially for Canadians who can't get it yet.
http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00B7TBX36/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
EDIT: Ended up opening it up and disconnecting the speaker, it really wasn't that annoying but I noticed the tone it made was "inconsistent", turns out the ground wire for the speaker was barely hanging on, so i just ripped the speaker off and now it's all good
PROS:
-From about 60% to fully charged took about an hour and 15 min, so it seems to be on par with other wireless chargers (2-3 hrs full charge)
-Doesn't seem to stop charging once it hits 100%, judging by the battery profile it looks like it falls down to 95% then starts charging again over and over
-LED turns red so you know it's done charging
CONS:
-Poor soldering on speaker, but i imagine most people would remove it anyway
-Charging LED is a soft blue kinda like the nexus notification light, but it is somewhat bright at night, but again a modification could fix that too.
Go for it if you don't mind opening it up to fix those 2 issues.
Hm, that's good that the charger senses the phone right away. Keep us updated on how this charger is working out, I'm planning to order one this weekend. Hopefully all is good. I will probably end up opening up the charger and removing/desoldering the speaker.

No problem, also there's 4 screws to open it under the little foam pad "feet" on the bottom of it.
Weak that there's no Prime option.
Does this continue to work after a few days? I picked the small, flat charger from Fasttech, and it does not work very well. It will charge the phone fine initially, but refuses to charge the next time I place the phone on the charger until I power cycle it. Kind of defeats the purpose of not messing with wires if I have to unplug/plug in the charger every time I want to use it.
The board looks similar on this charger, although it is different enough that I don't think they are using the same components. Just wanted to see if you've had any issues with it.

do NOT buy this piece of crap.
I bought one about 1 month ago, so many things are wrong with it.
for most it stopped working after a week.
the surface isnt completely flat and has a very slight arc to it. so the N4 will easily slide off on its own.
you will have to hit a "sweetspot" for it to sense your phone. it's very frustrating to have to look for it.
Annoying sound and more annoying lights, especially at night. they are INCREDIBLY bright.
do yourself a favor and buy google's original.

I don't know what arc you're talking about, the sides curves down slightly around the perimeter about 1 cm in, but the surface is totally flat. I don't see how it could possibly slide off, unless the surface your's sits on isn't level.
And expecting any inductive charger to work without lining up the coils is kind of unrealistic. You can't just causally throw your phone onto the pad and expect a solid connection, it's physics.
Placing the phone somewhat centered on the pad (as I expect most people would) works out fine.
As for the sound and lights...well I already covered that, its an easy fix.
wtf ,it does NOT work with the TCP gel case on, i had to take it off? anyone get it to work with a backing/case on?
before it works, the nex4 screen has to be ON for it to work right? that kind of sucks, no wonder this thing is cheap! 30+ tx bucks from amazon.ca
another thing is its gotta be put on the pad 'centered' you can't just be off center
giving this a 3/10 , don't recammend it, man the beeps are loud!
holy cow, this thing really HEATS up while charging, doesn't HEAT kill your battery? it was 40c the battery temp, in 2hours my charge only went up 30% from around 40% to 70%, im not using this charger, i think it will kill your battery faster with all that heat
I purchased the same charger, but contrary to your post mine will charge to 100% then the led turns red and won't charge again until picked up and put back on the charger. I'm curious if a different kernel or rom can affect this behavior. I'm on cm10.1 latest nightly. I'm in the process of returning it, but like everything else besides not maintaining a charge.

Im currently using the ringke fusion case which is probably the thickest there is, i've also switched to my mercury TPU case and they both work, I also don't need to have the screen on for it to start charging either, maybe the manufacturer made a revised version or something.
On the idea of a revised version. Here is a picture of my charger including the model number. It is T-100. I'm very curious if your charger has a different model number.
I am also thinking about ordering this as it seems very cheap for the price. My one concern is does it keep the phone topped up you said it does but there seem to be conflicting reports on amazon as well.
Led/speaker are no issue as they can be easily fixed however waking up with less than a full charge would be annoying.

I've had my Sensation 20 months but only just noticed today a tingling/vibration across the top of the phone when it's connected to a charger, i.e. if you let your finger slide across the top frame of the phone above the speaker grille.
Not sure if they all do this and I've only just noticed, or something has gone wrong with mine.
Tried a different charger and a different battery and it still does it. The strength of the charger (i.e. a kindle one at 800mA not as noticeable) affects the strength of the tingling.
Any ideaS?

Hi,
This happens on my Transformer Prime from Asus.
It's really weird.
I worry about touching it.
It must be something to do with grounding,or lack of it.

I've read a little up on this since I posted it yesterday. Apparenly ALL metal devices will do this if they used standard AC chargers with no ground pin.
When I noticed it, I was barefoot in the kitchen with damp feet after the kids had been playing with water, so it was very noticeable. Wearing shoes not as much so, but I have now noticed it on other phones with different chargers in different places, so any metal-bodied phone does appear to be "live" when charging!
All,
I purchased the Note 5 from Best Buy, yesterday, and received the free charging pad. I used the charging pad for the first time last night while I was sleeping. I woke up a couple of times during the night and noticed that the charging pad was flashing blue and the phone was not charging. I pulled the phone off, waited about 30 seconds, then put the phone back on an it started to charge again. I did this three times and it always ended up back with the flashing blue light. Doing some research this morning, a flashing blue light indicates the phone is not placed on the charging pad correctly. I had try to make sure the phone was properly centered on the pad each time. Has anyone else been battling a similar issue? Thanks in advance.
Yes I had the same problem here and I think that's same solution fix it once I got it centered where the Samsung word on the charger is Horizontal with the Device and I get a good connection everytime

Thank you for the response. I have been messing with it this morning and it does seem to be ok if I really make sure it is centered. I guess it is just really sensitive with alignment. I will see how it goes tonight. With my previous wireless base, it would always have issues after the phone was on it for 4+ hours. I am hoping that is not the case here.
Yeah. I had issues with it last night. It started charging right when I put it on there but sometime right after I went to sleep, it must've stopped working.

I also experienced the issue again last night. It just stops working after the phone has been on the wireless charger for a while. It looks like wireless charging overnight is not an option . Has anyone had success with wireless charging for an extended period of time and had the phone get to and stay at 100%?
I had to turn daydream on. Mine would start flashing blue after the screen timed out. I have daydream set to activate while charging and no issues since.

You have to have something creating a small gap between the phone and the charger, I had the same issue and found the answer in some thread I can't find now. I just put a couple pieces of paper in between the phone and the wireless charger I guess because it works through some sort of electronic field the phone without a case sitting right on top is too close. Either way when I get my case the issue should be gone but put something there and that should do it, mine charges all the way now and it's fast.

Well, I picked up a case today and am still having the same issues .
My girlfriend works for Samsung, she told me the issue lies within verizon's software with the new note 5's, and they are working on an update. Mine does the same thing on a Samsung pad that worked fine for my note 4 with wireless case back. Apparently it happens every time the phone receives any kind of notification, I'm going to place the phone on airplane mode tonight to see if that works. Case/no case is not the issue.

That is interesting. I just stopped by a Best Buy store and talked with the Samsung rep. He said he has the same issues and thought it was a problem with the charger. Best Buy said they would let me exchange it for a different charger, but I may wait to see if an update can fix it. Thanks for sharing!
The problem is using it without a case. The charger is assuming there is a case and if there is no space between the phone and the charger it will stop charging after a few minutes because the voltage is too strong when they are too close. Put a few pieces of paper in between and you should be fine. Or get a case.

Have a case on and it seems to be working fine. Never tried it without a case though.

I no longer have the Samsung charger, but when I did, I could not get it to work even after adding a case and paper. I think some carriers seem to have more issues. I am on Verizon.

I'm on Verizon and mine works fine. It took me a few minutes to get it placed on the charger correctly but it works great. Also, I came from the s6 and it would charger as well but I would wake up with only 80 something percent since once it charges to 100 it stopped charging. The N5 however if it discharges to a certain point it apparently restarts the charging process.
Tried 2 of the Samsung wireless chargers and both had the same problem on the S6 Edge + and the Note 5. The Samsung rep at Best Buy said that the workaround is to put the phone in daydream mode. She said the Note 5 and S6 Edge + go into too deep of a sleep. She said to use the work around or we have to wait for the fast wireless charger to be released.
Has anyone confirmed that the Verizon Note 5 will not have the blinking blue light not charging problem? I haven't seen any OTA updates to fix this issue on Verizon like others have reported that AT&T did.

No, I'm still having the blue blinking light on the samsung fast wireless charger (it happens a little while after placing the phone on it). Basically makes the charger useless for now until we get an update. It's a shame because I bought the official Samsung charger and I'm having to resort to plugging in my phone still.
Verizon has never been quick to release phone updates, so it is likely still in "testing" phase....
