Pantech Vega Racer IM-A760S SMS 80+ Characater !!!Fixed!!!!!! - Android General

I have found a tricky fix for A760S SMS of 80+ charater.
Requires:
Rooted phone.
3rd party SMS App (GO SMS, HandCent …), (Default SMS app not allows to type more than 80 characters)
Procedure:
1. Install any ROOT EXPLORER app in rooted Pantech IM-A760A phone,
2. Download this FIX file from http://a d f.l y/Cn3Gi
3. Extract files with WINRAR from downloaded ZIP file into local PC dir.
4. Put framework.jar file from extracted folder>System>framework into phone USB or SD card memory.
5. Now open ROOT Explore app in phone, browse to /system/framework and set permission to r/w.
6. In /system/framework folder of phone, renamed the file “framework.jar” file to “framework.jar.bak” or any other name.
7. Paste the framework.jar from USB memory or SD card (where u placed in 4.) to /system/framework folder of phone with ROOT EXPLORER.
8. Reboot phone, when phone reboot again, it will shows message of upgrading application. Wait for finish!
9. In GO SMS, check the option of splitting SMS having more than 160 characters in SMS send setting.
10. Finished!!!
Now try sending SMS of more than 80 characters, It works for me.
Limitation of this FIX:
SMS having more than 160 characters will be sent as multiple of 160 characters SMS.
If split SMS option in GO SMS send setting not checked (ticked), then max 160 characters SMS can be sent. More than 160 characters SMS sending fails!
Do at your own risk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[MOD] 13 Toggle quick panel

Just wanted to confirm that the mod for the 14 and 12 toggle quick panels found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1295965
work for the skyrocket. Just follow the instructions for rooted stock odexed ROMS.
Thanks! Just did this and everything seems to work fine.
Note that this also replaces AT&T's 4G icon with LTE and up/down arrows in the status bar.
Worked fine. Kept getting a FC though upon replacing the systemui file so I'd recommend people do that last and then quickly rename the .odex file and reboot. Either way, upon reboot all was good.
Sucess! Nice!
Need some help here, did you guys flash the mods via ,cwm, then you used root explorer to move the files? Or you just moved the files and renamed them and rebooted? Thanks in advanced...

Just extract the files and move them to the appropriate folders with root explorer, then reboot. No CWM needed

Hopefully it replaces it with another LTE icon and not a 3.5G one?
Just to report on my findings...
The mod worked well but I did find one discrepancy. When connecting a USB cable to the device and choosing "USB mass storage" the Green Droid that's usually there now is not there. It just says "Connect USB storage" in gray and underneath that it says "Set" in white. This "Set" dialogue is just that and not a button.
Can anyone else confirm this same result? Or did I do something wrong?
---------- Post added at 05:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:03 PM ----------
Tried to push the files again... same result. Not a huge deal but really wondering if anyone is experiencing this. I'm on rooted stock.
Anyone? Or else how can I go back to stock?
Hm, you're right. I didn't notice this because I haven't connected it to the computer since I applied it. It seems that this disables all USB connections to your computer accept for allowing you to access the internal and external sd cards. This also seems to only do this in USB debug mode. Taking it out of USB debug mode will only let it charge when plugged into the computer.
Did you backup the files that the new ones replaced? Just take out the new files and put the old files back and reboot.

It replaces it with LTE and it also switches to H+ when you have 3.5G signal only.
Nandroid backups are your friend friend
I renamed the file as specified in the directions but I did not back it up. I renamed systemui.odex to systemui.odex.Bak. Can I use that .Bak file? If not, would you mind attaching your backup file? I'd like to go back to the stock if possible.
ALSO... when toggling Airplane Mode I see a code at the top of the pull down menu. It says "Via %1$s". Does anyone else get the same result?
Thanks in advance. And yes I am an idiot for not backing the file up.
Yes you can rename the systemui.odex.Bak back to systemui.odex but I think you need the original systemui.apk as well.
I also get the "Via %1$s" text as well.
Would someone be kind enough to attach the original systemui.apk to this thread? I'd greatly appreciate it.
Here you go. Delete the new files you put on there, rename the systemui.odex.Bak back to systemui.odex, reboot, and you should be good to go...hopefully.
I used the "THANKS" button but I really did want to actually say thank you. It worked. There was a little drama during the process but ultimately it worked.
Just for anyone else reading this post, know that when I deleted the lidroid-res.apk (which I deleted first), process after process crashed. The phone was pretty much useless. I rebooted and then was able to rename the the systemui.odex.Bak back to systemui.odex. I pasted the SystemUI.apk, deleted the QuickPanelSettings.apk, rebooted, and now everything seems back to the way it was before the mod.
Lessons learned:
1) Don't 'just' take someone's word for it that a mod is gonna work without a little proof and research.
2) Nandroid backups ARE your friend
3) People here on xda rock.
You're welcome

If you're moving it manually you don't need to do anything with any files in the META-INF. Those are used when flashing the .zip via CWM (which doesn't work for the skyrocket). Just move over the 2-3 files, reboot, and you should be good.

Here is a list f apps that are safe to remove!!!
Though its lists apps in cm9 it has many in common....
It also lists which shdnt be removed.....
For removing just go to /system/app find the apk n corresponding .odex n delete it....
Then reboot.....
If u want to add an app as system app...
Download the apk n paste it in /system/app....
Set the permission as rw- r-- r--
Then reboot....

[MOD] Black & white Emoji on system font

If you ever wondering what your iPhone/Mac friends were sending you, wonder no more.
To install: You need root! Download the .ZIP attached to this thread. Make a backup first of the following fonts under your /system/fonts folder! If you don't find some of these in your /system/fonts folder, don't worry.
DroidSansArabic.ttf
DroidSansFallback.ttf
DroidSansHebrew.ttf
DroidSansThai.ttf
gcsh00d-hkscs.ttf
Then, extract the zip to the /system/fonts folder and replace all fonts it tells you to replace. That's it!
For those of you who have your phone plugged in to your computer and prefer a command line, extract the ZIP to an ADB folder. Open a command prompt in the directory and then type:
adb shell
su
mount -o remount rw /system
chmod 777 /system/fonts
adb push DroidSansArabic.ttf /system/fonts/
adb push DroidSansFallback.ttf /system/fonts/
adb push DroidSansHebrew.ttf /system/fonts/
adb push DroidSansThai.ttf /system/fonts/
adb push gcsh00d-hkscs.ttf /system/fonts/
I'm thinking of modding some other system fonts with these files I found, I will update this thread if I ever do. Enjoy.
Nice. Thank you so much, this kicks all sorts of ass.
This is amazing.
Does this replace the stock smileys or is there a way for us to insert them?
Mms.apk with Emoji support
I lifted the MMS apk from AOKP, which is modified from cm9. Has full emoji support baked right in.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/0btrygelu5004f2/Mms.apk
You have to go in to settings and enable emoji support.
how do i install it. when i try to it says an existing package by the same name with a conflicting signature is already installed

I used es file explorer. The messaging app is stored in /system/app
Just backup the old messaging app by renaming the file extension to .apk.bak or something, and then drop the mms.apk in to the /system/app folder. Make sure permissions are set to -rw-rw-rw. Reboot the phone when finished.
Edit: You'll need to have root access, and have "Root Explorer" and "Mount File System" enabled in es file manager.
thanks works well
Thanks! I tried changing the fonts but it did not change anything for me. I replaced the MMS.apk and it looks great.
im having problems sending MMS when i try it just doesnt even show up it just disappears as soon as i hit send

Blast, you're right. I hadn't tried sending an MMS yet but the same thing happens when I try. I'll mess around with it a bit when I'm off work and see what I can do.
Edit: I didn't do anything, and it seems to be working now. I sent a couple of test MMS messages, and they just straight up disappeared...but then when the person I sent them to replied they all just magically reappeared. Now it seems to be working fine.
Mine is working fine too. Try reinstalling the app.

There was a second file called message with an extension ".odex" I moved that one out as well. I reboot the phone too.
After putting the new mms.apk in make sure you reboot the phone. Good luck.

Can you send regular sms messages? If not try downloading tha apk again. Force stop the app and clean cache.

Try this - it didn't work for me until I tried inserting a picture from an app other than the gallery. I tried sending two pictures from the gallery, neither of them appeared. I then tried attaching a image using ES file explorer instead, and that one didn't appear immediately, but it did show up after a moment. After that, I had no trouble attaching an image from the gallery app.
Just wanted to say thanks to you guys. I got it to work after reinstalling it thru the download manager. I have a question. There's a software update for my phone from at&t but when I try to install it it says there was a problem with my software. I'm new to android so is it because I'm rooted? If so can I unroot to upgrade?
Do not update, unless you do not want root again.... Well at least for a while.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Either way I can't because it won't update for someone reason
I have follow all the steps and now can type emoji but there is another problem: My HTC One X can't display traditional chinese and korean character Could you help me with a solution?

To convert user app to system app use titanium back.
And I think you are trying to replace t keyboard with trace keyboard(swipe enabled).
Open file explorer. Enable root access in settings. Mount system as writable. Copy that keyboard and replace in system/app.
You will now get force closes for the keyboard. Simply restart and there you've the new keyboard.
Make sure that the permissions or rw- r-- r--
Typed via stock sense 4 keyboard with swipe.

To get some space delete aluminium.apk and mail widgets or something you don't want.
I've managed to replace.
Or delete something that consume space in system and can be downloaded from play again. Replace keyboard and download the deleted app.

you can also rename bootanimation.zip to bootanimation.zip.bak , then u can transfer file to system/media , also if you want it to work for sure go in twrp and replace the old bootanimation with the new one , mount system then for the bootanimation set permissions to 644
it's ok i found the solution... the problem was that i didn't have enough space in root storage (i watched it with solid explorer) and i deleted chrome.apk from /system/app (almost 140mb ) and then i could do the replacement
