Hello,
I've recently bought a Samsung GT-15500 device and I'm trying to root it under Linux (Ubuntu)
I've also found a tutorial on rooting SE XPERIA X10 MINI PRO via the psneuter script.
Is this process applicable on all Android devices (including mine)?
Thanks in advance
PS I can't mention the link because of my member permissions

I've been reading the very interesting thread about rooting a sony miro, in which they say you should use 'PC Companion', which wont work in my case as I use Linux, more specifically Debian 7 [aka wheezy/testing]. So has anyone rooted using Linux please and is willing to help me root my phone please?
Thanks
Sharon.

Dependes on stuff like which version of android are you running, have you already unlocked the bootloader or not.
I would suggest you unlock the bootloader
well here is the guide
http://http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2183737
It worked for me...
Depends on the Android Version you are on if JB then use Doomlords technique and if ICS use UnlockRoot and make sure drivers are installed on PC and USB Debugging is ON
If it works hit thanks
I have an old smartphone (model specified above), which I have tried to find a root for it (like FOREVER), and misrebly failed. I think that the problem is that I own the LT18A model, while every single root I found was worked for the LT18I users (as it seems in the comments).
I want to root it so I can uninstall some of the build-in apps that I dont use (such as facebook, youtube, and out-of-date & un-updateable operator apps.). They function poorly, take up space, and worst of all: they run in the backround (and on old phones such as this every megabyte of RAM counts.) Please help me.
Is there something I'm missing? A vital step a skip or something? Do i need to unlock the bootloader to root?
I probably have a custom ROM of the operator this phone was originally purchased from, does it make any difference?
If Anyone can explain to me step-by-step what and how to root, or point me to a usefull guide, i will be forever thankful.

Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. As far as I can see you can't root your phone without a PC, please see this thread:

Hello guys, i have Sony Xperia E4g phone and i want to root it. This phone is new brand and as i research there is no more way to root it other than Kingo Root (A few comment and one video (for E4) confirms that it can root E4g) but the question is in my mind:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2516942
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2604749
Those two links...
First link is says its unsafe (malware) but it will be analyzed, someone will research about it.. no offical ending about research
Second link says its safe with Kingo Root declration
Guys, say me, i belive that the correct and safe answer on the web just this forum, xda forums,
So, is Kingo Root safe, can i root my device with no worries ? (collecting user data, malware etc) Please experinced users, or any user who try and research it
(dipnote:if there is a safer maybe offical way to root Xperia E4g i will be glad about it)
Thank you
Note to mod: i did not found dedicated part for my device at the forum, so i thought "General" will be ok, sorry
