So, I'm trying to do some video recording, and I've tried multiple apps: Screencast, ShootMe, Z-Screen Recorder Pro, but I seem t have some issues with all:
Screencast - I cant record with High-Res (800x480), only in Normal Res (400x240)
ShootMe - I can only get to 20fps and very low quality (again, at 400x240, though no option for changing it)
Z-Screen Recorder Pro - doesn't work at all
I'm pretty sure most of those things are due to bad coding or they're just not meant for Jelly Bean, but I was wondering - is there any way to hack/fix them? Like modding the settings, or changing the codec to something better...?
My device in particular is a Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-i9100 running on stock Android 4.1.2.
Any info or suggestions for better recording methods are welcome (except "use a camera pointed at the screen" obviously).

Well, thanks for the info I guess...as a side note I'll give you this advice: enable the Developer Settings, then go down the list and check the "Force GPU Rendering for 2D" (or whatever it was) and "Disable Hardware Overlay"...that generally fixes the issues with the S3.

Hi,
I've watched the Note II introduction video and saw some nice ideas for apps to run on Note.
Specially "screen recording" and "popup note" ideas are totally software solution which can be achieved by small apps.
There is already popup video and popup internet browser as an app.
I just wonder if there is a working screen recording app for Note. I've found 2 of them on Google Play but none of them works stable.
Also, a popup note app would be loveful. Is there an app which can do this ?
Thanks.
Screencast is an app which works absolutely fine for recording but that is not pop up...
And what is the point in making a recording app pop up???i dnt see any point in this.
HIT THANKS

See FloatNote
I also use Screencast all the time on my Note. See my YouTube link in sig.
And the browser would be OverScreen. Cost a couple bucks, but there are free floating browsers of varying / lesser quality. Search market for "floating apps".

If you are asking for pop browser then it is Overskreen browser

For the popup note, FloatNote works really fine. But it really works only with a s-pen. Is there another app which wouldn't require s-pen and would work on other devices (such as S3) ?
Screencast is also nice. But it doesn't run on Galaxy S3, just works on Galaxy Note. weird...

Take a look at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1887594 this should answer some of your questions.
What do you mean by hovering and screen capturing? As far as I know, the Note 10.1 can already do that.
Thanks for the video! It answers nearly every question for me
i´m not allowed to post links right now, but if you search for:

more a nice to have feature though...
Hey guys, just recieved my tablet in the mail and promptly rooted it. downloaded screencast and when trying to play back a recording its just a black screen with a green stripe. I kind of need this because I run a YouTube channel that depends on screencast so I can do gameplay. I could wait for my GS3 but thats not for another week and a half.
Any insight onto this would help. would changing the build.prop fix this?
Thanks.
I can post screenshots if I need too.
BTW I'm running CM9.
i already opened a topic about this. it's on the 2nd page.
I also need screencast for work. I tried running it on several roms, including CM10.1, sungsonic and an ics based rom. I haven't tried it on stock. I tried with Force GPU rendering ticked and HW overlays disabled and all sorts of other settings combinations but always just the sound works and screen is black. Maybe you can try on stock rom.
Sorry, Like I said I run a YouTube channel so I need to upload videos weekly to the best of my ability.

Well this is a blow. I contacted the developers but haven't heard back yet.
I love my nexus 5, I just hate how it doesn't have slow motion video! All of the other hot phones are doing it nowadays, and google just left it out. Is it possible for this to come in a custom ROM/is it being worked on already?
Up
I'd like to know if it's only software related or it's also hardware related ?
If it's only software can we expect mods ?
Thank you

The HTC ONE X have it too, if I remeber
There were a thread on xda to add this feature to the N4, but I don't remember if something was released. The socket of the N4 is in theory able to do this, so I think the N5 too.
I'm really interested to have this feature on my N5. I will try to find something
No other phone can do it. The iPhone 5S has a camera that can record at 120fps. No Android camera has ever supported this feature yet.

It's not true slow motion that you see on TV though. It's software based. They can't record at 120fps!
The 5S is the only phone to record video at 120fps.
The Moto G can record slow motion although its not 120fps

sorry but it's not software based at all.. I own a s4 and iy can record 120fps videos in 720p you can se it's actually 120 fps by furiously increasing file size when recording...

That is entirely incorrect. The GS4 supports it. The only difference is that the resolution is reduced while shooting slow motion, whereas I believe the 5S does 720p. The phone is actually shooting at 120fps though - it's not using software interpolation.

It is true slow motion video, they record at higher frame rates and replay at 30 fps. My htz resound had this in 2011, [email protected], the new Samsung's and htcs have it as well, they don't shoot 720p at 120 fps but they do 480 up to 240 fps (note 3). Also there is many iOS apps that allow you to record up to 1000 fps on iPhone 4s and newer. It is software related, also all tegra 4 phones can use camera awesome and record 1080p @120fps.
Bump. Is it possible?

No.
Sorry for revivng the thread, but Google mentioned that the N5 can do 8MP 30FPS with the new camera HAL they are working on. If we can have full resolution 30FPS, 120FPS HAS to work in 720p. BUT we still have to wait for it.
And now with 5.1 lollipop, look at what's possible today, lol
Does the Nexus 5 comply with this HFR-Recording Standards?

Hi everyone,
I got tired of stock rom so I flashed CM. However, I found out that my remotes don't work. Apparently CM doesn't support the IR blaster on the S4... or am I wrong?
I figured the WatchOn app from Samsung would work, but I had to sideload it since the play store said it was incompatible. Guess what, it works! But the signal recognition is very slow, and I can only get my inputs to work every 20 or 30 seconds. The lag is unbearable.
Anyway, anyone found a way to use the IR blaster with CM in a smooth way?
Try "ASmart Remote - Galaxy/HTC", not sure about CM compatability but it works for me.

This ASmart Remote IR app v1.4.4 by NXRsoft available on Goole Playstore is the only IR Blaster app that triggers the IR port on my Cyanogen CM13 ROM 11-2-2016 for my Samsung Galaxy S3 SGH-i337 phone. Thanks for the tip.
The Remove ads link in the app is a bad link. Please fix. What is the link supposed to be ?
I wish NXRsoft would add support for ROKU. I am guessing this app is no longer supported as the last release was made Dec 2015.
What did NXRsoft do different in their IR Blaster program that the other big names havent' done to get the S4 IR blaster working? It's something that is being done at the "app level" and is not a limitation imposed by something lacking in the CM13 ROM. Does anyone have insight into this that can explain it to a non-programmer ? Thanks in advance

I tried your IRPlus app v1.8.6. Your app triggers the Ir blaster on my S4 SGH-i337 CM13 ROM phone. Nice work. Your app is 1 of 2 that I have found that work.
The only ROKU device listed is the Roku3. That profile is working on my Roku2 XD.
Your remove ads link is bad in the app. What is the link supposed to be?
Worked for me!

This worked for me on my Sprint S4, CM13. My exact Samsung TV device wasn't listed, but I picked a different Samsung TV and it works fine.
