Hello I have flashed my tablet a few days ago and soon after the tablet dont react to the hdmi cable anymore, anyway I am thinking of reflashing it but can anyone tell how I should proceed or what data I may lose in the process?
thx
There are multiple Asus firmware releases based on Android 4.1.1. Go to Settings -> About Tablet and check "Build number". Then read http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1755576
Sv: [Q] Reflash android 4.1.1
Hmm maybe i was unclear, flash and root are not the same thing is it? Anyway i rooted the device unconventionally since there were non for 4.1.1 how do i reroot it and does any data disapear?

Yes, root and flash are totally different.
What do you mean unconventionally? What was the process used?
To root easily you must unlock your device. There is a good guide in the General Infinity forum.
A harder way to root is to go back to Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS), root, use RootKeeper, Upgrade to 4.1.1 (Jelly Bean) and re-root with RootKeeper.
A really good thing to do before screwing with your tablet is to do a complete back-up in the event something goes wrong.
Ok if you are locked and unrooted, its only that you can either upgrade or downgrade the firmware keeping the warrenty intact.

Can someone please tell me how to go back from .13 to .9 so I can root my TF please? So far I haven't found anything telling me how, just telling me it can be done. I got the old OFW from asus's website and moved it to the root of my SD card and tried a reload but still keeps loading .13 after the wipe.
So can someone tell me how or what I am doing wrong?
Just extract the contents of the .9 OFW into the root of your MicroSD, pop it in the Transformer and it should prompt you to update.

Ah cool, just open the zip and let me make the asus/update/... folders on the SD card and it will grab that one. Thanks.
Thank you, I felt so stupid and now it worked just fine.
I also want to downgrade from ICS back to Honeycomp.
Can i do that without root ? - just like an update -
And where can I download the de Version- on the asus webside is only theDE 4.0.3 version.
Kind regads

Would you consider giving the revolver ROM a try? I downgraded from 1.3.1 beta(ICS) to 3.11(HC).
I am fairly certain Asus like most device manufacturers try to keep you from being able to downgrade from official OEM versions of software back to older versions- the reason being, of course, that the newer versions sometimes fix software and security vulnerabilities (like 8.6.5.21 losing the ability to use an APK file to root, like razorclaw, and imagine a rogue application exploiting this vulnerability, achieving root, and broadcasting to the developer any information without notifying you about it..). The interesting thing is that the method of denying firmware 'updates' to downgrade seems to be arithmetically calculated from the version numbers, basically if update package version is < current version update will be denied. However, when they decided to engineer the update denial this way, it left it's own vulnerability, in that firmwares for the TF101G, being the later model of the TF101, automatically have a higher firmware version because of the 3rd digit is a 6 instead of a 5, indicating that the version is for TF101G. This left the old honeycomb ROMs with this vulnerability- if you had updated to 8.6.5.21, you were still able to 'update' to an older firmware the device viewed as 'newer' than the current device firmware, i.e. 8.6.5.21 users could update from a stock device to downgrade their firmware using the TF101G firmware 8.6.6.19, which could still be rooted with the APK vulnerability.
Now that we have moved onto ICS and there is not yet a TF101G version of ICS available, we lack this native downgrade option, and we are yet to see if Asus is going to fix this 'vulnerability' by simply amending the TF101G and TF101 version numbers, or by altering the way in which the OEM recovery mode accepts or rejects Asus update packages, I have the feeling that they already have with the 9.2.1.11 update recovery that was included.
All of the precursor information I just listed brings me to the only current method known to rollback your firmware if you are on ICS, either 9.2.1.17 or 9.2.1.11..you must root your device with ViperMOD, install CWM via RecoveryInstaller, and use CWM to manually install the firmware to a previous version. This will perhaps add a few layers of complexity..you may have to toggle signature verification and script asserts enabled (I am making a wild guess on this one, I've not yet tried to downgrade just yet), and you will be persistently bothered by Asus update notifications (there are plenty of threads describing how to rid yourself of these). My guess is that soon Asus will begin pulling the HC ROMs from their official website so you might want to grab that ASAP. And if you want to keep from getting bothered by update notifications yet stay stock 100%, you can (until they release the ICS for it) flash the TF101G version of the firmware, 8.6.6.21.
IN SUMMARY; to downgrade ICS to HC, you will have to root and flash recovery modes. There doesn't seem to be a way around it. And IMO it's probably best to NVFlash back to HC, no telling what kind of data will be left that will conflict with HC from ICS if you do simply flash a HC ROM via CWM. You will probably want to make sure you have the right kernel just in case you have to flash it as well..I can imagine a nightmare scenario if the Asus update didn't include a kernel that it leaves your ICS kernel intact, which will not load HC, and also flashes over your recovery, leaving you pretty much bricked without NVFlash. Fairly sure Asus update contain the full ROM- kernel included, but I always err on the side of caution..I'd flash the HC kernel first personally..just to be safe. If nightmare scenario does occur, you can't flash it after you reboot.

I had the revolver rom before- with my last transformer.- But ICS - if working, -is better.- and best seems to me: revolver rom ics based on a (good working !!) stockrom.
Meanwhile i rooted the transformer and install CWM - tried stockrom flashing with CWM- but because of usb is not working+ random reeboots, i changed to revolver ics- Revolver ics had a working usb connection (also random reboots- - and today a freeze while booting) .
I trie to find out the reason for the reboots.
I only go back to HC if there are too much problems with this rom - by i had to trie out first.

---sorry.... need time + dictonary forall that. - but seems to me a good answer.

I know this may be a completely lame and stupid question but here goes... I rooted my Xoom by this method ( ROOT Telstra from the Latest HC3.1 Update + Unsecured New Boot Image ) and all is fine but after I did this I noticed the 3.2 Official Update and now the ICS update. To get to the point I tried to revert back to standard OFW but had a failure on applying it. So my question is can I apply an OFFICIAL upgrade to a rooted Xoom without unrooting? I like the xoom even as it is but I don't want to end up with a paper weight!
Any help will be appreciated... (BTW as you can gather I have a Telstra Aussie Xoom running the 3.1 firmware in the link above)
If you have CLOCK WORK MOD installed ,I am certain that you will have to unroot and relock boot loader to get the update to install. Although it will download and attempt to install the update it will not . It will just boot into CWM every time.
You will need to reinstall the official firmware via adb if you are running non-official firmwares.

Hi...
Sorry for being pessimistic, but... No there's no way to update officially without unrooting... Try reinstalling the official firmware (WARNING: IT WILL WIPE ALL YOUR BELOVED PHOTOS, MUSICS, EVERYTHING!!!). Relocking the boot loader and then try updating again.
To return to stock ROM, try LordAIOTool for Linux it has a nice Stock Install feature hope I helped

Thanks for the replies, that was my feeling as well. For another question if I can succeed in restoring the OFW to upgrade, can I re-root it when running either 3.2 or 4.xx ?
I need rooting for running a couple of applications I have and for accessing HDD attached to the USB port. I don't want to put on Custom Firmware unless it is just a modified version of the OFW similar to the CFW I am running now. If so any links for just rooting...
Thanks again.
Yes, you can reroot , just search a little

I just recently bought and icade with hopes of using it with MAME4droid and having my own arcade cabinet.
Several people have done this successfully with the TF300, but apparently the OTA 4.2.1 update broke bluetooth, or at least bluetooth controllers (like my icade), because I cannot get it to bluetooth pair.
I want to go back to an earlier version, and I guess rooting is my only way? I have 4.2.1 - firmware 10.6.1.8. From my research, i need to go back to 4.1 to get bluetooth working again. My refurb warranty has expired, so I guess there is no reason not to root now.
I have never rooted before, but I have been reading on here, trying to learn. It seems, that i need to unlock my bootloader, download some software and then choose a rom and root. I saw a post, which seemed to say that there is no roms that will work, if I am at 4.2.1? is that true?
Can someone, please provide instructions or a guide to help me root my 4.2.1 back to 4.1? (Please provide ALL steps, I am new to this process)
Thank you!
Hello all,
I just bought a tf300t that already came flashed with ParanoidAndroid 3.60. It shows that it has a 4.1 bootloader (10.4.2.20) but is running JB 4.2.2. From what I understand flashing a 4.2 rom on a 4.1 bootloader will brick the tablet, but I must be mistaken since it's running fine. I would like to update to the 4.2 bootloader and flash a different rom since the one currently on it is a bit sluggish and unstable. I've read around the forum but the posts I've found usually start with the tablet having a stock rom. Any help would be greatly appreciated since I don't want to brick this thing
I'm going to use this guide to get it back to stock, but i'm a bit confused on one part. It says 10.4.2.20 is supposed to be running JB 4.1 but my tablet is not. Does that make any difference?

whay not just install twrp and make a nandroid back up then flash a custom rom like cromi-x, performance will be way better and the nandroid backup will help protect your tablet (although ive never had to use it lol)
Hi all. ...This major rookie needs help...
This has probably been asked 1000 times & beaten to death but after searching for about 8 hours today not including last night, I can't seem to find topics that completely match my STOCK ROM, Unlocked, but NOT yet rooted TF700t tablet. I stopped going forward with this when the MOTOCHOPPER installed failed after 7 or 8 attempts. <== I don't care for this any longer. I care about the following.
Has anyone found a way to relock the bootloader, if this is even possible, on the ASUS TF700t running the stock JB 4.2.1 ROM V10.6.1.14.10 US edition?
BTW, I used the Unlocker found on the AUS support website V8_For Andorid 4.2.x.
- Help. I don't want to continue in an unlocked mode if all I wanted was to root my tablet to then try the Android 4.3 with CM10.2 Custom ROM.
If more info is needed ask away.
Thanks.

Not possible, even if a method appeared, Asus has your tablets serial number listed as unlocked on their servers so it wouldnt matter.

Don't give up yet! It is worth it to go through some trouble, learn some new techniques to run a custom rom. And since you unlocked and lost your warranty anyway, it would be a pity if you didn't take advantage of your new possibilities.
10.6.1.14.10 is not rootable with Motochopper anymore. Asus plugged the leak. If you want to use GooManager to install the custom recovery TWRP, then yes, you need root and you would have to downgrade to firmware version .8 to to do that.
But there's an easier way: You can use Scott's tool to push TWRP to your tablet via ADB

For most people the hardest part is to get the correct drivers installed on their PC. The rest is easy.
Once you have TWRP installed you can flash CM or - shameless plug for my favorite custom rom for the TF700 here - you may want to consider CROMi-X, the most stable, best supported, and getting-more-versatile-by-the-day ROM out there. It's based on the JB 4.2 stock rom, only much, much, much improved.

If you are looking for a 4.3 based rom because you are disappointed with the stock rom's performance, you would be surprised. CROMi-X unleashes the potential of this tablet.
No - I'm not getting paid for this
I'm just a firm believer that a rom based on the Asus firmware designed for this hardware will always be more reliable, more stable than any rom build from the ground up. Just MHO naturally.
