Hi
Is it possible to setup a live audio stream which can only be heard via registration or invites maybe? And for that stream to be on e.g. my website and not by going to another website that is maybe providing the service?
And would I be able to tunein any mobile phone with internet connection?
Free or cheap
Thanks
You should probably just Google it or ask on a Yahoo Answers type of thing. This is a site for Android development, not how to live stream audio. I'm not trying to be mean, its just that you're kind of wasting your time. Its like going to grocery store with intent to buy a car..they don't have what you need. Anyways, good luck finding your answer!

Hi hope someone can help,
my dad hosts an online radio station, and i would like to learn (with help) how to build a basic android app to stream his site. for his birthday,
is this possible,
his radio site is http://www.opfradio.com/
thanks all
Do you have any development experience at all? If not then it will be very very very hard.
There are many ways of creating an Android app. You could use Java to write a native app, but for streaming audio I would suggest using Flash and build an Android app with this.
Flash is made for audio and visual development so I think that would be the best option. Start by creating a swf file in Flash that can stream the radio, and then port this over to Android. Google is your big friend here.
If you want to go through the Java route, start by creating an hello world app from the android website: http://developer.android.com/guide/developing/index.html
After this you will have the challenge to find out how to stream the audio.
Good luck and I'm curious on how you get on.
Also take a look at appinventor. I believe I saw a streaming feature last time I visited.

Good point. As an experienced developer I have not bothered looking into appinventor as it sounded too simple. So I was not aware it could stream audio. But that might be exactly what you're looking for.

Hi Guys,
I gather not many people actually use Google Music in the UK due to the required work arounds to get it but I am quite interested in using it.
For those who do/have used it:
Do you like it?
Is it worth the work around hassle to gain access?
Will getting it now via the workaround cause problems when it's actually released?
What worthy alternative services are there that aren't iTunes/iCloud/Match?
I want a music service in which I can own my music as well as purchase music, add my existing music to the service, and sync between devices.
I feel like there's nothing that does that apart from iTunes Match and Google Music
I love it, its my everyday music player... I no longer keep music files on my phone because I stream it from the cloud.
Likewise. I have been using it for a few months and it is absolutely life-changing. I just uploaded my entire music collection and now just stream it all instead of having it stored on my phone or memory card.
But how do you guys upload it in countries other than US?

If you need the APK to get the app on your phone, how do you get updates?
Do you have to use a proxy only to sign up or do you need it for desktop streaming?
Can your purchase music in the app?
Once you register via proxy you can use it anywhere, Play store for music doesn't work but who cares.
You only need the proxy for initial registration. For everything else, no proxy required. So in reality, its very little effort for lots of awsomeness
I have music on my android and have a workout partner with an iphone. I use doubletwist on my android (also available on the iphone) is there a way for him ti listen to the same music I have through a pairing, or better yet allow me to transfer music to his device? Not a big bluetooth user, but this sounds like something that should be possible no?

It might be possible with an app called Bump - available both on Android and iPhone, BUT:
- it uses internet data (potential additional costs)
- I'm not sure if it works with music files, I know it works with photos and contacts.
if you wanna try here's a useful link I googled:

On iPhone you can enter iTunes and chooce a receiver. After you have done that everything plays through the receiver. You can enter spotify or Youtube and it will play through the receiver.
Is it possible to get sortering similar for android. I have tried the playto app but it works like ****.

Hi mentio,
I've spent a lot of time looking myself, I searched "airplay site:forum.xda-developers.com" and everyone gives an answer but not the one you and I are looking for. There's also nothing in the wiki for airplay.
In the forums, all answers are, use an media player app that sends that apps audio to airplay. What I'm after and what I think you're after is the ability to root the whole devices audio through Airplay. The sames as when you use Bluetooth.
I really can not find a solution to this problem, if it exists yet, does anyone know anything more comprehensive about airplay?
I'm an android stuck in an apple family
Thanks for any help in advanced guys and gals!

Hello, and thank you for using XDA Assist!
I don't know much about Spotify, except it being a subscription-based (paid), music streaming service. Because of the monetary scheme (am more importantly, the country restrictions at the time), I never used it.
I'm trying to figure out the end goal of pushing a free video service through a paid audio service. Seems very apples and oranges to me.
There may be a plugin with the app (as this is a mobile site), but you are better off asking the Spotify community (I did a quick search, found that they don't do plugins anymore anyway), which is off-XDA.
Hope this helps.
