Is there a Stock MMS apk for JB 4.1.1 that has quick reply? I recently flashed a AOSP MMS apk with quick reply and it has a bug that doesnt notify me when I am receiving an image because I have my data shut off... and I need that notification since I keep my data off unless I am using it.
It's not free, but look at Glowfly in the Play Store.

Can you make Glowfly work without popups? I hate the idea of popups but I miss quick reply. What I mean is, if I turn the popups off, can I tap on a notification in my notification bar to make the quick reply pop up (similar to how it works by default in CM10.1)? I put the CM10.1 messaging app on my phone for that reason alone but it's pretty buggy in TW. Thanks for any insights!

Hello I'd really like to have the lock screen notifications that are swipeable to enter either the missed calls or received text messages but I don't want to go without the jellybean messaging layout. So if someone has already found a way to intergrate the touchwiz stock with the jb domination secmss or any other way to work his out I'd be greatful

Download mihome from the play store. You dont have to use the launcher if you dont want to, but it also installs milocker. Use this to select a vareity of lockscreen themes, I am sure you can find one in the app or on XDA and import I think. Good luck.
I found one called oppo, that is very cool.
Thanks for the idea but not what I'm looking for.

To do this without coding, you could use this app and then change the lockscreen shortcut to this messaging app. Then, when you get a notification, you hit the lockscreen shortcut to this stock messaging app and then select the message. One more press of the screen to get similar functionality from the stock app. That's what I do.

Can anyone suggest a better messaging application which should not show the content of message in notification bar? I was using GO SMS Pro but now its too much bloated and doesn't works properly.

Yeah but thankfully I have no important texts. And you could always forward them to your email if you wanted to remove them haha but that is a lot of work
Hey, after a few searches, I know this has been brought up elsewhere, but I'm just looking for updates.
I just changed over to handcent so I can have emojis, but now I'm realizing that the app doesn't work with one of my favorite features: the lock screen shortcut notification for sms/mms messages. What I'm looking for is some way that when you swipe that circle with the unread count for sms that it brings you to handcent (or whatever other 3rd party sms app) instead of the stock messaging app. I figure there has to be a way..
You're talking about on ICS TW(Stock setup) right? I don't believe that would be able to be done without a MOD of some sort.
I think you can do what you want, with a bit of a different look, using something like widget locker or some other lockscreen replacement app.

Thanks for the reply. Yea, ICS TW for now (synergy to be exact, not that it matters in this case). I really like the stock setup for the lockscteen, but I'll check out widget locker. I guess the best solution would be if someone made emojis work on rooted stock, but I'm not sure how much work that entails. I've only seen it available on AOSP

GoSms also has emoji support. But you'll run into the same issue with the lock screen.

I'm having trouble visualizing what you're both talking about, however I haven't used Synergy. Are y'all talking about the four lockscreen shortcuts or a widget on the lock screen in addition to the lockscreen shortcuts?

If you talking about the missed sms count to swipe to the left, dunno.
As for the sms icon/app you can change it under shortcuts where you toggle it on and off, you can click it and change it to your sms program.
Yeah, the OP wants to change where the missed message count brings him when he swipes it.
Long shot, but is there an ASOP messaging app we can use? And would that be able to be recognized as "stock"? I know ASOP has a mod for emojis

I did this on my old RAZR so maybe it's similar. What I did was rename the stock MMS to .bak then moved my preferred MMS app to system/app folder and renamed it to the stock MMS rebooted and it worked. Worth a shot, I'm on eclipse or I'd try it.

If it breaks anything you just delete the file you moved and thanks the original back to mms.apk
I have an inverted version of the stock MMS app (4.0.4-eng.tvap624.20120702.011632) and I can say that the notification that pops up on the stock lockscreen is unique to the Samsung mms app. This means notifications using any other mms app will not show up as a swipable event on the stock lockscreen. Inverted stock is a great version of the mms app. I just renamed secmms.apk (I believe) with .bak, put in the new app, renamed it as the original, set permissions, and rebooted. I have emoji support and messages on an all black background. It's nice.

I know, I'm actually using Handcent right now for emojis (didnt want to pay GoSMS just to send emojis).
It seems like lockscreen support is probably a complete no go unless someone somehow mods the stock mms for emojis (no idea how intense that process might be).

Lol, I never noticed you had to pay to be able to send them. My bad.
Ok, I'm sure I'm missing something here but I can't for the life of me figure it out. I cannot get expandable notifications working. Running the stock Verizon update from yesterday, not rooted. I've tried it in both touchwiz and go launcher. If I get a notification for multiple gmail messages it shows as a single notification showing the number of messages. If I try to swipe up or down (with either 1 finger or 2) nothing happens. Swiping to the side clears the notification same as on ics. Pressing and holding on the notification pops up an app info box. I've been sending myself emails and texts all day trying to figure this out. Am I missing something or am I due for a factory reset?
Thanks in advance.

Two finger pinch will expand or hide notifications.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
Thanks for the suggestion. I don't know if it was the battery pull, cache wipe, or if I was just doing it wrong but I have it working now. Swipe up/down doesn't expand/contact and neither does a vertical pinch but a horizontal pinch seems to work. Very touchy though. Nothing like what I've seen in videos.
Thanks again.

Is your expanded notification for Text messages working? I can pinch to expand but it doesn't show any options such as 'reply' or 'call' and it's just black space. However, expanded notification for calls and emails seem to work.
I get no options when I expand text notifications. I also have to pinch horizontally (like with all my other notifications) to get it to expand. Is anyone else able to expand by swiping down with two fingers or pinching vertically?

Since we now have the option to pick in 4.4, what's your favorite messaging app? I've been using Ninja SMS. I prefer a Holo interface, and the chat heads mean I never have to look at the interface itself anyways.

Hangout isn't bad, but I really miss the remove/change not compatible unicode options.
For this reason my favorite is the 8sms https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.thinkleft.eightyeightsms.mms. Looks like the stock 4.3 sms app, but have more options.

I tried 8sms, but sometimes wouldn't receive pictures in MMS. It would appear as a triangle. Looks like a play button. Same with the stock messaging .apk. Any ideas?

Another vote for Textra. Has some nice features, but not overly complicated or bloated. Handles MMS picture messages and iPhone-style group messages great.

@krabman Sure, you could always use any SMS app, but it was never flawless. In KitKat there technically isn't a default SMS app. You pick whatever you want.

In sorry but you have always been able to pick whatever you want and it would work without issue. All you had to do is turn off notifications in the stock messaging app which wasn't any harder than what you need to do now. What you didn't have to do was set your shiny new messing app as default because the operating system did it for you. If you installed multiple messaging apps like handcent and chomp it would then give the option to set one as default and you could go into the main settings/applications and remove that default just like any other application installs such as launchers or galleries where more than one app could be called to perform an action.

See above. Assuming all the various messaging apps get tuned up to work on 4.4 you will have exactly the same options you had on 4.3, no more no less. There is no now you can pick.
