Public Mobile Kyocera Rise usb drivers workaround for rooting - Miscellaneous Android Development

Since kyocera does not have usb drivers for the kyocera rise phone on public mobile's network, I'll describe a workaround to getting your phone rooted anyway.
WHAT YOU NEED:
Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v18: http://uploaded.net/file/0fpyh5c5
and
PdaNet+ installer for windows: http://junefabrics.com/android/download.php
----
When you install pdanet, they will ask you if you want to replace the current usb drivers, if any are detected. if you choose to do so (which is needed in this case), they will ask you which drivers to install. choose "other", and then go to your device manager, and update the "Kyocera USB Modem" device. it will install the new drivers, and you will be able to root after that. Just make sure you're not running pdanet or using your phone in mass storage mode because adb won't see your phone when you try to root.

will this work for other kyocera phones? or just the rise? i was thinking about getting a kyocera hydro edge or hydro xtrm. i've tried in the past to find info about drivers etc for kyocera phones but there doesn't seem to be a lot out there for this brand.

I am sorry for the late reply, I don't know about other phones but I assume that if they worked for the rise then it could work with yours. If "adb devices" shows the phone's connected then you're good to go

[Q] Issues with drivers (I know...I know....)

I have seen so many threads on this it is making my head spin...I am now completely confused as to what I am screwing up.
The Nexus is my sixth Android phone and I have never had this issue with any of them. No matter what I do, following any guide, I can not get this thing to show in Windows as an ADB Device...It always comes through as an Interface.
I just can not get this thing to recognize in ADB as a device...Anyone have any advice on things to try?
Have ADB, Fastboot, PDANet, SDK/goog drivers on system...
Any thoughts would be appreciated...
On a Nexus 4G W/Sprint
I don't have a Nexus S 4G myself so I have to guess at what's happening. It sounds like the computer doesn't have the right USB drivers installed for the 4G phone. From everything I've read, installing PDANet provides the drivers you need. So I'd suggest uninstalling PDANet, checking to make sure you have the latest version (because the 4G is a pretty new phone) and reinstalling it and make sure the USB drivers that come with it get installed.

[Q] Root Problems

I am coming from the Galaxy S Vibrant and so far I am not impressed by the whole rooting process for the Skyrocket. I have tried on 3 different windows computers and every time it says it is unable to recognize device. I installed the drivers but I don't believe they were installed correctly. When I click root in super one click, the application stops responding.
I made sure to select debugging and when I connect the phone to the computer nothing prompts me on the phone. Is there something I am missing in order to get the Skyrocket recognized by Windows?

You need to be patient. the program stopped responding for nearly 5 minutes for me before it started going again and my PC is lightning fast.
Try installing Samsung kies. Should give you all the drivers you need.
If your computer doesn't recognize the phone at all then you most likely dont have the drivers installed correctly or a USB hub driver issue in which case no USB devices would work. Like I said, try installing kies. Once you can get the PC to recognize the phone as a storage device, you should be good to run the root program.

I tried Kies already and it didn't help. I can connect my Vibrant with no problem to my computer as well.

i had somewhat the same problem , I rooted my old vibrant first incase i screwed something up , no big loss , it went smooth as butter , then I hooked the SR up and it took forever , 3 try I unplugged alot of my other usb devices , restarted the pc and tried , it hung for a few minutes and I left it alone , it eventually worked the last time. I also have a pretty solid pc , running win7 64bit , unplugging alot of my usb devices seemed to be the thing that really helped.
hope that helps ya

rooting this device is easier then posting that on the forum =)
1) If you are still 2.3.5 (and didn't do the OTA upgrade) -> use doomlord's script (DooMLoRD_v3_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su) or newer if there is one:
-if you did do the OTA upgrade - search the forum for another way to root.
2) install KIES (if its installed, continue to 3)
3) extract the DooMLoRD_v3_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su.zip to anywhere (maybe c:\doom )
4) open a command prompt (run as administrator if your not running windows XP)
5) goto c:\doom\files\
6) type "adb devices"
- if it finds your device - just run the script , it will root your phone
- if it does NOT find your device, troubleshot kies (uninstall it, reboot, reinstall, disable anti virus/firewall, etc etc) because if it can't find the device then the problem is someplace on your computer.
good luck!

[Q] LG USB Driver won't install successfully

Okay I have search XDA and LG AND google search for this problem and have not found any solution to what I'm going through. Here's a little background on my phone
T-Mobile G2x rooted with the ROM HellFire Phoenix V2.1
Before today I was able to mount my SD card to my computer with no problem seeing I've had the phone since it came out. Today my computer showed it was installing the drivers but gave me a message "device drive was not successfully installed...usb composite device failed. Now I have used different usb ports and different usb cables and my computer is STILL giving me the same message!
I have even uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled them and still coming up with the same issue. I even restarted my computer after each and I keep coming to the same issue. Can someone please give me a solution to this frustrating problem? It would be greatly appreciated!
Same exact issue except on 2.2
I think you mean HFP, hfs is only up to 1.7

What about USB debugging is it checked? try the opposite of what it is with a reboot, also link where the drivers are being downloaded from.

Yeah I made sure USB debugging is indeed checked, and when you say try the opposite meaning what? uncheck debugging...reboot then check it again?
The drivers are being downloaded from the LG Mobile Support tool program that downloads and installs the latest drivers. Which can be found here http://www.lg.com/us/support/mobile-devices/phone-support
I even posted on the LG forum as well, got a response from an employee who told me basically what I had been doing, uninstalling , restart the computer, reinstall, restart again and then connect my device and STILL the same message. I have no idea why its doing this, its never done this before unless there was a new Windows update or something but there hasn't been. Oh and my Windows is Vista by the way in case anyone was wondering.
I used B2CAppSetup.exe From LG. I was having the exact same issue, this solved it. I uploaded it here: http://www.mediafire.com/?e2vnaw5a0ljljj4
EDIT: Vista or Seven - make sure you right-click the .exe and Run As Administrator.
I had the same issue with HFS so I just started taking the card out of my phone and putting it directly into the computer.
I had this issue a while back after re-installing the drivers. Plug the phone in and the little systray icon would tell me the usb composite device failed.
What worked was going to the device manager and installing drivers from there, but instead of browsing to the drivers as I tried many times the solution was letting Windows choose. It popped up with two choices the generic usb composite device and the LG phone. Picked the phone and I was good to go.
Hope this helps someone and if it does please hit the thanks button.

Thats the exact program I have been using and I still have the same issue, I'm thinking of just going back to another ROM since it seems to be an issue with HFP then I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one with this issue.
On the stock ROMs you had to set it for USB file sharing only and then actually enable file sharing once it's plugged in. I can't try anything but a stock ROM (running BB 3/2012) at the moment.
Not sure if HF is the same way.....
Antivirus
Once I had driver issues because of an overzealous Antivirus. Try uninstalling the drivers, restart, disable the antivirus, and reinstall.
I have a question for you guys, I tried restoring to a previous Hellfire ROM i backed up thinking that would work and it didn't.
So what happens if I can't get this to work? Without me being able to access my external/internal SD cards I can't load a new ROM or anything even if i wanted to unroot the phone and get another one from T-Mobile I can't or can I?
Is there any other way to restore back to factory settings without connecting to my PC? This is highly frustrating and i have NO idea why my phone and PC aren't working together like they did before in the past.
Did you run as administrator?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
Yes i have done everything. Run as administrator, restarting my computer after every uninstall and re-install of the drivers, made sure USB debugging was checked, even restored a previous ROM i saved thru clockwork-mod and when i connect the phone through the USB to my computer i keep getting the USB composite device failed.
Nothing seems to work, so I'm thinking of just accepting that its not going to work and save up and get a new phone eventually which sucks cause since rooting the G2x I love it more than when it was stocked.

Tried that already still doesn't work and I'm on a Vista computer don't have access to Win 7 so suggesting that won't help at all.

Ok mshoney6, Here is your solution: (you can thank me later)
After much digging and searching, searching, searching I found this driver and I uploaded it for you. Get it HERE: http://www.mediafire.com/?ahc3iklqmoa0gnc
First, go to your control panel > add/remove programs > and uninstall ANYTHING LG! This includes the Mobile Support Tool.
Second, make sure your phone and USB cable are not connected to your pc.
Now, right-click the file you downloaded above and "Run As Administrator".
DONE! Connect your phone to the PC and Viola!

[Q] Device drivers did not install properly

I've tried installing Samsung drivers for my GS2 Skyrocket many times, but it the device drivers never install properly. This, of course, stops me from connecting my phone to the computer and stops me from rooting, etc. So, I'm looking for help on how to fix this. I'm running Windows 7

I have the same problem. The only thing that has worked for me is a different computer. Luckily i have a laptop from work. Don't ask me why but nothing works on my home computer and i have tried every suggestion out there. I have gotten odin to regonize my device however on my home computer and successfully flashed a recovery. I like TWRP the best. Once you have the recovery you're good to go.

It didn't work, unfortunately.
The main issue is that CDC Serial and Android_Samsung don't "install" correctly.
I have trouble connecting my phone to this laptop. It either doesn't connect or ejects while I'm transferring something, but it's fine with my netbook. I suspect it may have something to do between 32-bit (my netbook) and 64-bit (my laptop) operating systems, but I don't know much about it to actually confirm that. It may also be an issue with the stock cable.
If using another computer doesn't work, you may want to try another USB cable. I have a couple other MicroUSB cables lying around that seems to establish a better connection, but I leave important transfers (ROMs, flashing, etc) for my netbook.
What's the error log say?

Connecting via USB, cannot find device

Hello, yes this is my first post. Glad to finally be on here.
But, unfortunately it starts off with a problem.
I have the Android Revolution HD XE 7.2 ROM installed on my phone, completely rooted S-OFFed and so on.
My problem is that now I'm starting to get into developing android apps, and trying to get my computer to detect the phone has been very tricky indeed. I'm using Eclipse with the SDK installed, I've developed on other phones, I was using a Samsung one the other day so I know everything is working.
I attempted to install HTC sync which I believe is what I need to make the USB connection work, all worked fine. Only when I use "adb devices" nothing is detected.
So I'm guessing this is either down to the fact the phone is all custom and it doesn't exist to HTC sync, or because I'm running Windows 8.1 and something has screwed up down the line. In device manager my phone is listed as 'Android Device' with a yellow triangle because it can't find any driver automatically, but I'm still able to transfer files to the SD card via usb and everything works, just development doesn't (and yes, debugging mode is active).
Help appreciated, and please treat me as the newcomer I appear to be, use small words

I can't post the link because I am not in my pc right now

Here is the link of the drivers:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2217396
You can choose the driver that meet your requirement.
I have already attempted that before actually going ahead and installing the full HTC Sync. I'm beginning to believe the problem must lie somewhere else because the drivers are there and work fine, my phone connects just fine but it's not visible to adb or anything.
EDIT: I managed to fix it by using this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2061435
whether it is the best solution I don't know because it's pretty old, however my phone now gets found by adb.
Thanks for the help guys!
