Personal Experience:
I have had many issues with CWM in restoring and backup but it could be that the backup had a different format than the formatted partition(ext3,ext4...etc). The BIG issue I experienced last night(8/2/2013) when I backed up stock JB(4.1.2) on my GS3 using CWM 5.5.0.4(which is incompatible with JB) and it caused a bootloop I had to wipe everything. I never Tried TWRP but it seems better. Soucres:

On my note I use twrp , and it works great , on my wife sII i have cwm , works fine , on my A500 ,I cant get twrp to function right , I have a custom (cwm) recovery and it works great, on my kindle twrp , it all depends on the device I think and maybe the rom your using too! I like the ease of twrp and how it functions better!

According to their site its not officially supported but check your devices forum there maybe unofficial builds

I have had problems with both cwm6 and twrp..
But I like cwm6..because you can hold a large number of backups.. especially when you have a SD ext 2GB.
Number of backups cwm6 twrp
1 3GB. 1.5GB
2 3.4 3
3 3.8 4.5
4 4.2 6GB
Edit:
I take back what I said about cwm6.
Though 4 backups cost 4 GB, if one fails, all will fail. And it did.. miserably.

Yeah thats the problem I hate it when backups fail the best solution is "orange backup" from play store does nandroid backup with no need to boot to recovery

I have used both.
Experienced some problems restoring back-ups with CWM on my old LG Optimus One.
Now, on my Atrix HD I had TWRP, which looks very nice, but I'm kind of used to CWM.
Greetings,

CWM era has ended.
Its either twrp or Philz (though I also doubt Philz-which has features now -but it's based on cwm ,so it's eventually bound to rot in time, when twrp brings new and new features. )

Niether use CWM or TWRP. I use 4EXT. Awesome recovery. Second preference TWRP.
Hit thanks if I helped.

I think i'll have a look at your suggestion.
I've been using TWRP, and am having issues with ADB & USB mount
AscendP1

I installed TWRP and it's been working good so far for backup. I've yet to install a ROM yet, though, that's my next step. I think I'm going to install the Avatar ROM after I figure out exactly how to do it. I'm still an Android ROM newbie, but learning fast. All the best !!!

Well, the TWRP worked great !!!
I don't like the Avatar ROM, though, so I'm going to try straight CyanogenMod and see how that goes. I'll note if they're any problems with TWRP.

CWM imo

I've never used CVM, but I bet it works great too.
BTW, I love the CyanogenMod ROM. So far I've only found one potential problem (with the Bluetooth stack) where it will answer the call, but then the sound will go to the phone ... kinda weird. Hopefully it will be an easy fix.
All the best !!!

Another opionion
CWM imo. I have used it with no issues on my tab 2 10.1, and S4. I just put on two last night and tried it out today. Its not bad, I like the touch screen side. But I get choppy screen moves.

CWM made backup now TWRP Installed
Hi
I made a backup using CWM now I have Installed TWRP and it doesnt recognize that back so I cant restore it back
can anyone help?

Best=?
Y think TWRP is more aesthetic?

For me at optimus g pro twrp doesn't work week so I had go to cwm. Even twrp doesn't support ogp officially so I don't expect much.

Yes but?!
Yes, from initial approach TWRP seemed best till,
I had downloaded some nightly ROMs viz Omni ROM, XenonHD ROM, etc.
Very time I try to install TWRP logged as Install failed with Error status 7, I found some way to solve yet solution further made way to display Error Status 6!
Needless to say the redownloaded copy of same ROMs in vain, until I gave them try in CWM !!! I read and learnt that both do same thing but it happened to me! I installed Omni ROM In CWM via adb sideload and commenting from its AOSP Browser. Any opinions?...

Everything I used to create the Zip is in here: http://d-h.st/zIL
I used unpack-bootimg.pl (I forget where that came from) to unpack an existing CWM Touch recovery.img from the Nexus S 4G
Then, I unpacked an existing boot.img from our device using zman0900s tools here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1405284
Then, I added the etc/recovery.fstab and the default.prop from the epic to the nexus s 4g's recovery img.
Then, I repacked using a modified tool I made based on nubecoder's boot.img repack tools: https://github.com/nubecoder/create_boot.img
Then, I added the newly made ramdisk-recovery.img to Dees_Troy's TWRP zip.
Instructions:
Just flash this zip in any MTD recovery: http://d-h.st/Wfq and enjoy the new recovery after you go to advanced>reboot recovery
Unfortunately, due to the way our boot.imgs are packed, this recovery will be replaced when you install a new kernel or ROM, but the recovery replacement does not occur until you reboot recovery, so all you have to do is flash whatever you were flashing, then flash the CWM Touch zip and then recovery will stay.
On stock touchwiz ROMs, flash this modified version of Shadow Kernel that includes the recovery
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1419586&d=1350836408
There are probably other ways to build the recovery, but none of them worked for me... not Koush's Builder and not building from source
Anyone can add this recovery to their kernel by extracting a boot.img using zman0900s tool, then adding my initramfs_cwm folder in the build script zip at the beginning of my post, then repack using nubecoder's tool.
Thanks to Koush for CWM
Thanks to our CM team for the device specific files I pulled to make this possible
Thanks to Dees_Troy for his TWRP zip I based this on
Thanks to nubecoder for his create boot image zip
Thanks to zman0900 for his extract boot image zip

Heh, good work Jake. I'm sure people will greatly enjoy this.
Great job Jake..Didn't think we would ever see this. So where this is based off of twrp, would it be possible to create an inject.cwm file like twrp has so there is an option to re inject after a flash?

No rom update or anything else. But all the positive comments from everyone else gives me hope. But just in case I will re download in case it was a bad dl.

So want to see that movie... im jealous... and ya I would have to say it was probably a bad download seens how nobody else has had a problem... anyways goodluck and enjoy the movie!
Uhhhhhhhhhhh... I was waiting too long for this "touch", then I hopped onto TWRP days ago AND deleted ALL but one CWM backup... and here's the long-awaited touch but aww... Since TWRP everything's a hell lot easier but lost that sense of geek...
PLUS: Would like to report that TWRP does not work with "Stock FC09 Prerooted MTD", stuck at the Samsung logo too. If same phenomenon here, I guess it's that InjectTWRP won't work with stock kernels (CM and other kernels based on CM are all fine) ... @xboxfanj interested in the issue?

Yeah thats the problem. You need to be on an mtd rom. So, Odin stock then cwm, then flash any cm rom, then flash this cwm.

ParanoidOTA is not working with our device yet. Use GooManager for updates(Once I get official again, it will...)
Many major changes since jb guys and gals! Since pa dropped their website, you have to head over to their Google+ site to see what's exactly happened since our last version...

GooIM/manager is now working!
Updates will be rolling thru.
GooManager incremental is not working right atm.
You can either download the ROM here, or, in GooManager, browse for compatible ROMs/TeamFahQ/blaze/pa_t769-2.54=10NOV2012-174533.zip/begin download/etc...
I would suggest doing a fresh install so don't forget to make a good backup via titanium...

I just flashed your ROM everything seems real snappy and fast but I used CPU spy and the frequencies are strange most of the time its at min or max theres almost no frequencies used in between? Is that a bug in the new kernel or a cm10 bug? Otherwise great ROM so far thanks!

I didnt need to flash any supersu files? Supersu is installed and i restored all my backups from TB so i know root is working fine without having to flash over anything else but the rom and gapps of course.
Does the camera only save to the internal storage?
@Bradlees wifi calling? No... I might add it later after I get the ui bug fixed (paranoid preferneces)
@DiViNEX CPU spy and the frequencies are strange. Logcat perhaps... Otherwise, I won't be able to track it. Might be the app conflicting with something because the built in cpu monitor looks fine.
@cheddarbob41 su files? Oops... old flashing instructions... I updated OP... Thanks
@mytasteinwomen Does the camera only save to the internal storage? For now, yes... Might change that to external storage later...

Too many features !!
Seriously, reading about all the stuff in this has me excited and also overwhelmed. I think the sd card migration support for /0 is the killer feature though. If I'm switching between a TW and AOSP rom, that's needed, right? Otherwise the sd card won't be visible.

Not sure why, but trying to download again and going to flash.
Update: Second download also failed to flash.

Does it give any type of error or does it just say failed.

I had an issue Restoring a backup that was made using this recovery. It backed up fine, but when I went to restore it later it made it about halfway through /Data and rebooted. Figured it might be a freak thing, but it did it multiple times with that backup as well as with a different backup. Had to clean flash to get up and running again. With the exception of that... Really nice work! I like it quite a bit.

Just says failed in red.
There is a chance that I am having a recovery issue, because TWRP has rebooted in the middle of several wipes recently (randomly) . But if anybody else has a fail during installation, hopefully they will post details.

I'll look into it.. I have a busy work load the next few days, but i will look into it. Is it backups made with other Recoveries or Backups made with this one. Just so i know what to look at.
Nice job! Been waiting for this to come over here! This is the sweetest recovery ever! Its the little things that count!

I'm way late on this, but it was a backup made from that. Backed up PA to go to Clean ROM and when I went to restore PA it wouldn't boot. The weird thing is that I never got an error message. In the middle of restoring /data it just... Rebooted.

Overview
This is another Chinese firmware called 'Color OS' and generally ships on Oppo devices. It is not a "slight mod" but is more of a complete ROM similar to MIUI / Lewa and it has it's own unique feel.
Bugs
almost no
Instructions for Use
1. Download the ROM.
2. Copy the file to your internal or external SD Card
3. Reboot into recovery and perform a nandroid backup (or your backup of choice)
4. In recovery, wipe data (perform a full wipe)
5. Browse to where you saved the files and Install the ROM
6. Reboot your phone & enjoy it!

Wow, very nice UI. Is it Multi-Language or just English/Chinese?

Nice design, the metalanguage question is pertinent though
Please help. I think the rom messed up my sim card somehow. CM 11 doesnt regonize it anymore. Works fine in my SGN and got it to work under Color OS by removing pin. CM tho is messed up. :/ Running CM as my daily driver.
You've given absolutely zero information on the problem and symptoms!!
Shall we just guess and say "After you install CM11, make sure to turn the phone on!"
That is meant as a joke guys :-s

The ROM is baesd on CM10.1,so some bugs come from cm10.1.

Managed to get it back working by flashing stock and reflashing everything. Weird bug tho
After Installation Rom is looking good but... there is no Signal and i can't modify the Mobile Settings (greyed out). Help.....
It seems I cannot flash this rom, I get an error in TW Recovery... Is this rom flashable only by CWM Recovery ?
What bugs are currently present in the Rom and hows the battery life with it?
Also when I try to flash the Rom it says I need to update binary

Analyzing given screenshot looks like battery is terribly bad.
15:25 - fully charged
15:27 - almost discharged
Now who will take the bait?

Same here, And the OP is not responding, This ROM looks promising so i am waiting for help, so i can try it. I want to leave MIUI, the heat issues and battery drain are just killing my vibe.
When I try to install the rom it fails and says I need to update binary, what does that mean and how do I do it?
Could I solve the issue by switching recovery to a different one?

as far as i can read on internet, you need older recovery, because its based on cm 10. Or just leave it, it will install, just wait a minute
Google play store doesn't work. I downloaded it, but it opens and closes. I also tried to flash different gapps. No help.
And the lock screen is missing.
This is chinese version of coloros. It's the problem but is there any advice?
