[Q] Google Play Store Server Error - Tried Everything I've Read Online - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I recently upgraded from a samsung droid charge that I had rooted regularly to keep up with new ROMs and such and picked up a samsung s3 via a craigslist deal and got a phone in fantastic condition that was already rooted with synergyrom on it. I'm loving the phone but I have had a major issue with it! I cannot access the google play store and there are several other strange things that lead me to believe that there is a bigger underlying issue. I'll try and be as descriptive as possible as I have searched the internet for several days trying to find answers before resorting to asking you guys (the experts).
Events from the beginning:
1. Picked up the phone. It is unlocked and rooted to synergyrom. When I picked it up it had a tmobile sim card in it. I went to verizon the first night and had them put in a new sim card so that I could activate the phone. I activated my google account to the phone and it sync'd my contacts, emails, etc. no problem.
2. Noticed the first night that the google play store wouldn't open up. Tried wiping cache and dalvik in recovery. Still no go. Got error code RH-01. Googled error code and found several ways of potentially clearing it involving clearing data/disabling google play store and google framework services. Still no go.
3. Installed Synergyrom from my external sd card with a full system wife. Also installed titanium backup pro from the rom package. Titanium backup pro would not recognize that I had purchased a full version and it wouldn't restore any of my previous information.
4. Tried installing cleanrom via external sd card and doing a full wipe on the system memory. Still no access to google play store
5. Flashed the phone back to stock (still no play store: Server Error) and took it to Verizon to see if there was anything they could do about it. Associate tried downloading google play store from the internet as well as several other apps. It would let me click to download the apps but they were not downloaded to my phone. I can't even install anything from the internet google play store.
I read that some phones can somehow lose their IMEI or their ERI, but both of those fields have values in my phone settings and it identifies that it is activated on verizon. Any ideas? I will check back regularly so if there is anything that you need from me on my end just let me know.
Thank you for any suggestions/Help

I'm going to try and re-root the phone and then change the radio. I am thinking maybe the issue had something to do with it being used on tmobile prior to me purchasing it...

Are you sure the phone is a Verizon phone? SCH-I535 in the about phone menu? As you said it had a T Mobile Sim in it, that would lead me to believe it's a GSM phone.
Sent from my slightly modded........... phone.

Yeah it's a SCH-I535. I'm currently running:
- android 4.1.2
- kernel 3.0.31-86
- ERI version 5
- IMEI is 990001150832830
- Network: Verizon Wireless
I have no idea. I am willing to pay for someone to help me out but don't know if I can trust craigslist modders to not waste my time. Everything with the phone checked out at Verizon so I'm sure it has to have something to do with the software. It was ulocked and rooted when I got it and I was a bit hesitant because of that but everything checked out until I got it activated and can't get access to the play store.

When the associate was downloading the playstore, were they using your data or wifi? Was it stock browser?
I have had trouble downloading anything from the internet with the stock browser, it will always fail. Try a different browser. I'm sure you can find a browser apk or even the playstore apk, download it to your comp and then move it to your sd card.
I am on synergy right now, just tried download an apk and it will not even start. I don't mind, I don't use the stock browser.
Try a different browser and see if that helps.

Thanks Bob,
I'll try the putting on a different browser and see if that works. That would be a good enough work around for my purposes. I was using data connection when the associate was trying to download from the playstore from the browser.
EDIT:
I was able to install a different browser using the apk process and was able to install netflix on my phone by downloading an apk as well. That could be a decent workaround in the meantime but it sucks that it doesn't fully recognize my google account. Right now my biggest gripe is that apps that I paid money for like titanium backup pro and several games won't show up as purchased even if I do download and install through apk. It's really strange because all of my contacts import from my google account but the apps don't and the licences don't show up. Still no access to downloading through the google play store no matter what browser I use.

SUCCESS!!!
I was able to get the play store to come up and get everything to update!!!
I fixed it by downloading and installing a different radio through odin. After I installed it, I went through and did a trick I had googled and tried previously with no success where I basically cleared data and cash on google play store, google services framework, and then restarted the play store. This time I also cleared data and force stopped google play services, not sure if that had any effect on it though. Finally! Now it's time to reinstall synergyrom on this phone and enjoy it like it's meant to be enjoyed. Thanks for the suggestions and replies guys

Just posting for future users who might experience my problem. I recreated the issue and the fix was to install a different radio which allowed the phone to access the google play store and my information. Hope this helps somebody because I know that they last week sucked trying to figure out what was wrong with my phone.

Maybe you should flash the phone back to latest stock via Odin or Other methods layed out in Dev section. Sounds like when you first got it, it was a franken phone. So who knows what software, images, radios, ect.. you have flashed in there. I was gonna say revert it to latest stock [AS LONG AS YOU ARE SURE YOU HAVE THE VERIZON MODEL AND THE APPROPRIATE SOFTWARE THAT GOES WITH IT]. Then unlock, root, change rom yourself. It's not complicated at all. Just a thought. Enjoy your new toy.

John,
I actually went all the way back to stock and still was not able to get the google play store to work. I had the device working great until I tried to flash a different kernel and got a message from verizon telling me unauthorized software was on my phone. I had to flash back to stock once again and my google play store wouldn't connect once again. After installing the correct that I linked below, the play store came back up. I don't know if it has something to do with how it was unlocked previously, but I had thought that just returning everything to stock via odin would fix it and was surprised when it didn't.

[Help]Google screwed up my market account. Forcing app repurchase after odin restore.

I have had this phone since launch. I bought several apps when the phone was completely stock. I bought even more when I was running custom roms. I flashed back to stock using odin today and now I can't re-download any of my paid apps without paying again! I am using the same exact google account and email address. I logged into the web market and it doesn't show that I've purchased any apps. I logged into google checkout using the same account and it does have records of all of my purchases. Does anyone know how I can go about fixing this?

Try a master clear, and enter ur google account again n see if that works. Else maybe a re-flash might help.
Your Market is tied to your Google account. It is independent of the phone. If you properly reflashed using Odin and correctly entered your Google info, there should be no problem. I have flashed 3 different phones many times and never had any problem with redownloading my Market purchases. Free apps will NOT show up after a flash, only purchased apps.

Thanks, but I know and have done all of that. The problem is definitely on google's end. It's good this doesn't happen to everyone, but it certainly can. It sounds like I haven't done anything you haven't done.
Have you flashed a custom ROM? Some have been known to change your Market ID. You should write down the Market ID before a flash then if it gets changed there is an app to restore or change it. Have you tried the Market fix in SGS Tools?

I don't think it would be a market id because I bought beautiful widgets before I even rooted my phone. It is making me pay for that if I want it again too. I haven't tried sgs tools because I want the phone to be stock in case google actually gets off their ass and does some customer service.

[Q] Google Play Store Force Closing

I've read just about everything I can find on this subject and have yet to find a solution. I am not sure if this is phone specific and since this is my first post, I figured I'd try the general QA forum. So here goes:
This all started when I was looking to unlock my SIM for an upcoming trip to Costa Rica. I have a stock ROM Firmware version 2.2.1. in a Samsung Infuse 4G. I had some other things in mind for later like flashing to a custom ROM, but I wanted to get some of the junk off the phone and get the SIM unlocked first. So feeling a little frisky with the uninstaller of TB, I started getting rid of some of what I thought may have been bloatware....family maps, google books, bar code reader, etc. I don't remember now if play store was one of those apps. I really don't believe I did uninstall it. If it was questionable in any way, I left it installed. But who would care right? I had the whole phone backed up.
Ok, so I see that I needed to be rooted for this. So I followed some QBking77 tutorials on YT. Got the superoneclick application and got it rooted with no problem. Then, I followed the suggestion to get Titanium Backup. I bought the paid version and did an entire backup. In the meantime, superuser updated itself and everything seemed fine. I shut the phone down and came back some hours later to attempt an unlock. After boot, I started TBackup and it was hanging on a message saying searching for license. I restarted the app and it kept hanging. It finally gave me a message to reinstall the Pro version key. Well, I uninstalled it...not knowing any better....and then could not download it from the store. The store still had these apps showing installed and purchased. This is when I began seeing the force close of Play Store app.
Ok...I'm trying to provide detail here and this is why it is so long winded. But I began looking for solutions to this issue all over the place. I saw the solutions to clear the cache and data and force close the app...reboot the phone. That didn't work. I found apk google store files and began trying to install those to the SD card. That wouldn't work. So now I got the big idea to reset to factory. I did that twice and that didn't work. Tried repeating all the suggested solutions after factory reset. That didn't work. I ended up losing my backup from before. So what's left?
I figured I would try to flash the ROM now and get a fresh start with a new OS. Well, it turns out that many of the apps I need like root explorer, need the paid version to modify the recovery files. So I found an app called file expert that is free, but I need to have a paid version to modify root files. I also saw a solution to google play which involved putting the apk file in system/apps. But it won't let me do that either without a paid version.
So I'm stuck and very frustrated. I'm caught in this never ending loop where the files I need require google play to purchase and I can't do anything to get it working.
I don't know if I'm posting in the right forum. I'm all tense about asking questions. But I'm really at the end of my rope here. I probably screwed something up without knowing it. But I see that there are alot of complaints with this force close. But many of those complaints seem to be getting resolved. The last thing I tried was to download vending 3.5.16.apk I've been putting these files on my internal SD card and trying to install from there. This is very frustrating. And it even gets more frustrating when you see the solutions can be to download something from the market. If I could do that, I wouldn't be typing this.
I apologize if this is in the wrong forum. And if you want me to take it somewhere else, I will. But I'm at a point right now where I don't care who yells at me. I'm desperate.
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: And just to clarify, everything else seems to be working. I tried all the google apps (maps, gmail, etc.) My phone works, wifi, camera, etc. I get notifications of updates....and when I accept (or when it's an auto update), google play store starts and force closes. But other than that, the phone seems to have all it's functionality intact. And now, if I go to the store via my pc, it shows all my prvious app history including installs and purchases, but says I have no device.

but i can't flash any rom because i don't have clockwork mod for my phone
check this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26581744
Try fixing permissions (recovery mode)
i also faced this problem but i fixed it easily!!
go to setting
then select application
after that choose manage application
select the tab "all"
there select the play store
first clear the data as well as cache then give it a try
if still doesnt work
go to setting
then select application
after that choose manage application
select the tab "all"
there select the play store
select uninstall update
and finally ur android market would work!!!!
Get ES file explorer.apk It works like rom manager but completely free. Start there, one of the solutions will work. Also,if you still have titanium backup folder still in your SD card, put the FREE version of the app and see if it'll find your backup. Good luck.

Keeping within the guidlines of the forum....I want to say "Thanks" to everyone for the responses.
In a haste, I found the vid on youtube that showed the Odin method of reverting back to stock/unbrick. This is what worked for me. I did something stupid with Titanium Backup (I think) and that's what got me into trouble.
All is (still) well, I'm re-rooted with unlock code and got all the apps needed for a flash. I'm reading up on ROM flashing to hopefully get a handle on it. Thinking of trying Zues. Just a little unsure of this backup business....like where to put the backups....my pc?
But with all sincerity....again, thanks for the responses.
I do a double backup,nandroid and titanium. But,you're welcome.

I have got a solution!
OK, Perhaps you don't want to see a person who has had a solution, Huh. Doesn't matter....
Here's what happened to me: I has updating my Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S to android 4.0.4 and after doing so found my Google Play Store force closing every time I tried to turn it on. Fortunately, (or perhaps not so fortunately) I had encountered the exact problem before and spent one painful month mulling other the dull fact that it didn't work. When I plucked up the courage to try and fix I found that uninstalling the updates which can be found in Settings > Applications or apps > Manage applications > (locating Google Play Store located under All) Google Play Store > Uninstall updates.
So when I tried to do the same this time, IT DIDN'T WORK. What I gradually found out what I had done was uninstalled Google Play Store because as I had recently updated my whole device, it had worked it's magic on the Play Store. After what seemed like hours getting worked up into a frenzy and searching the web, I found a download link that downloaded the play store back on to my device:
I'm not allowed to write links so on your mobile device search for 4shared and then write Google Play Store.apk into the toolbar making sure the subsection selection is under files (you'll understand once your on the site). You want to pick the one which has the developers name: xurupita_zorro
(Its more convenient to download Google Play Store from your phones inbuilt browser as you wont have to muck around with files... Also, the link requires you to sign up, but I would suggest that you do because it lets you download games and apps for free... but that's irrelevant.
Anyhow, you could always try and download it elsewhere.
Then I opened it up and realised that it too was force closing, and of course you cant install updates on a Google Play Store which never updated. TROLOLOLOLO, not funny.
I Shut Down my phone for a very restless night and when I woke up this morning, I found that it was working fine and I could search the store beautifully!
So, My top tips:
Chillout as things fix themselves normally
Chillout as things fix themselves
Shutdown for the night
try uninstalling updates but be careful if you recently updated device
also the play store can be viewed online
Hope for the best,
Will :highfive:
Don't know what is going on but I can't download app files. Recently updated system on Moto E4 v 7.1.1 and dl's were working.
Tried to download F-Droid and it would not respond. Searched every possibility with no luck. Enabled the proper tab in settings etc. Went to XDA site to try and download an adblocker and it shut down the XDA app after the tab was ena led for settings. This happens on anything I try to do on this app. Immediate closeing of XDA. With any other apk file the thing just does not download. Nothing in the app tray. Just blank. I've tried everything but I'm not an advanced user. This happened once before and I had to reset to factory settings. Would not want to do this again but as they say... whatever

upgraded playstore, now get sign in error msg.

hello. hopefully posted in the right spot, but unsure if anyone has seen this issue... there was an update recently for the play store, so i did an upgrade, and now getting the nagging sign in error for gmail associated with this phone.
entering my pw does nothing. it just comes back almost instantly to reenter pw again.
i did a kill this to see what or where the message was coming from... what it killed was the google services framework, so its not a fake... but... wanted to see if anyone's seen this, and if there's a fix...
i'm on a droid 3 rooted, debloated, and that's all thats been done..
playstore is at 3.5.19 and gsframework is at 2.3.7
thanks.

your phone is rooted and cleaned (no bloatware) but how did you do that by flashing a custom rom or made by yourself
if made by yourself I suggest to delete playstore directly (use Root Explorer etc) and install from sdcard a new playstore you can find it by Google do not forget to activate "unknown sources" in menu/applications before to install new playstore form sdcard
another solution is to get stock rom and flash it then update playstore in this case all things should go if not there is a compatibility problem -last version of playstore is not compatible with your phone/OS

**UPDATE**
This morning while browsing androidpolice, saw an app i wanted to try out (Google+ Analytics) ... so I tried to do it via the playstore on PC.. guess what? My Droid 3 was delisted from the account. How and why? I scanned the QR code that went directly to the Analytics app on PLaystore on my Droid 3, and installed successfully - it even lists Analytics on the PC view of the play store's "My Orders".
I was comparing the differences between my phone and my wife's Rezound, and I did notice one thing so far.. we both had the Droid Eris, and she had the Rezound now. Her Rezound listed verizon as the carrier, but on my account my Eris was oddly listed as verizon... and my Droid 3 not on the list at all!
Anyways, there's a link there for people who "Don't see your device?" question.. link is: http://support.google.com/googleplay/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1146414 ...
it states they are merging the personal google account with the google app account which may cause issues...
Now, is anyone having this issue at all? Google notes that this falls under a few percentages of users only ;\
mmm i probably won't go that route yet.

after googling a few, and finding more info, it ended up being a sync issue between the google servers - since the phone was registered to an gmail account that was made prior to whatever is being merged at this time, it messed up the sync. the error is gone now, and my phone is now re-listed in the devices list in the play store settings tab.
yay.

[Q] 403 Play Store Error

Hey all!
I have been reading about that 403 Play Store error that pops up every time you are trying to download an application but I didn't manage to find a solution yet. I didn't wanna also bump old threads that have written about this issue, because most of the stuff mentioned there I have already tried them...I am an owner of a Huawei Ascend Y300 and am trying to download apps from my home network wifi.
So here's what I have done..Since I first experienced it I tried to clear my play store cache in settings, forced stop/clear data in google service framework while all these were done under airplane mode just in case. I also tried to clear my google accounts, try entering alternatives google details (total of 3 accounts with my main one) and none of them managed to download any apps while i was logged in with it in play store. I have also checked my APN settings and my proxy server is at "Not Set". Also tried to clear search history in Play Store just in case again there's an issue. I read also in various threads/sites that this begins after you purchase a paid app from the store? I never bought something, I haven't even linked my card details with it. I wasn't able to download any app from my pc too as well. In the end I desperately proceeded for a factory data reset and I lost all remaining apps I had already installed and the error would would still be there saying hi to me every morning..
Any suggestions on that matter, cause I am reading various stuff, tried everything I read and I nothing so far.
Thanks in advance

Are you rooted? It sounds like your ROM maybe could have had a bad file. I'd re-download the ROM, check the md5 hash, install ROM and try from there. If all else fails, you could try installing Market Unlocker and changing from one market, then back to another.
I believe that the Freedom app can also cause errors like this, so if you have ever used that, this is also a possibility. If you have used Freedom, reinstall it, click start service, then stop it, then uninstall.
Force stop, Clear data and cache for :
-Google Play Store,
-Google Service Framework
-Download Manager
be sure that those services are not inactive!

No I am not rooted. I haven't tried rooting any phones I had although I was thinking doing that soon enough to my current one just to experiment myself with it. Should I root my phone and try troubleshooting that way? I don't know what doors open in front of me with this though and if I will solve anything, so any suggestions are welcome

Yeah I forgot to say that I forced stopped Download Manager before along with the first two.I have already done that and it doesn't seem to work..

STOCK TF101 - Factory reset, Google Play Store broken. Ideas?

So, I have a TF101 that I had rooted and played around with.. tried kitkat, ICS, etc... Now I have something else, and I want to give this tablet to someone else.. but I want it to be unrooted, stock rom. So, I flashed it back to factory and reset it. The needs of the next user are extremely simple, so stock should work fine...
...however, I can't get Google Play Store to work at all. I've done much research, and some say to just wait 3+ days for google play services to update itself, etc. no dice... I left it plugged in and running, checking each day to ensure it was still connected to wifi so that it could do whatever it needed to do. Nope. I found a thread on another webforum where someone described the exact problem, then at the end he said "problem solved, thank you" without actually describing what happened. Sad. sigh.
I've noticed that google play services isn't even on the stock firmware. instead, it's called google play framework. Perhaps that's part of the problem? I dunno.
I tried downloading the most recent version of google play services and manually installing the APK, but that didn't work either, google play store keeps crashing. Perhaps I need to also download a few more APK's go go along with it, but I need help identifying what is current.. or at least, I need to identify one recent enough that it can then update it self to current.
So.. I'm stuck. Can someone point me in the right direction to try to bring this fully STOCK TF101 up to at LEAST a version of google play store that works? APKs? tweaks?
Flashing to a custom rom is my LAST resort. I don't need any help doing that.. but I want to try to make Stock work again first.
BTW, that original Youtube app from stock all those years ago... it was pretty cool looking now I'm stuck with it.
Use Easyflasher:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688012
This will put it back to factory new condition and remove Root.
Sorry if I wasn't clear. I have successfully flashed the unit back to stock rom and completely wiped and reset to factory. then I turned it on, and google play store won't run. I want to install apps normally.

I had the same problem.
I found the newest playstore on internet and installed it.
Then I had no problems anymore.
That seems to have worked! I had assumed I would need to update google play services first, but apparely I just needed a new Google Play Store APK. I found one that works here: http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...google-play-store-6-0-7-android-apk-download/
I downloaded the APK and ran it, and the play store now runs and is updating all other apps on the old TF101. Sweet.
Dunno if Google Play Framework will automatically replace itself with Google Play Services or what, but I'll keep an eye out for that.
Just to followup and close this topic... The tablet is now up and running with multiple apps from the play store, and my wife is now using it to read kindle books and mess with her nursing app. I was planning to give it to her mother, but she intercepted it when it started working
So, basically - if you want to go back to stock firmware - flash to stock, factory reset, then download and install current playstore (as per link above) and don't worry about Google Play Services, it will sort itself out.
