Hi, I'm planning on upgrading to a new ROM on my Xoom and was just wondering what is the best app that will backup everything on my tablet including the apps. I have looked at titanium backup but I'm not sure about it. If anyone had this app or any other backup app please post it here. Any help will be appreciated.
I use TiBu to back up on my bionic (just because I had it already) but I use Rom Tool Box pro on my xoom. Rom tool box gives you a lot of other options for root users that are handy to have.

Thanks
Thanks heaps for that, I think I'll check out the pro version.

You can use Slideme
Also if you search (dev forum I think) you can find instructions on how to relatively easily enable the actual android market... well, maybe not so easily if you stick with stock firmware as you'd have the additional steps of having to install the market app...
You can also find how to install flash, which will also work with stock firmware.
(...and now that I think about there's an entire thread in the general forum somewhere about rooting, adding market, adding flash, etc. to the stock firmware... probably a page or two back now since ATM most of us are probably using one of the 4 custom firmwares...)
Try pocketgear. It even lists the ViewSonic gTablet under devices!!!
I just bought a new gtablet. It has the latest TanpNTap. I actually like the TapnTap and is not bad at all. However I would like to know if I can do the following without rooting
1. Install apps from Amazon?
2. Install google apps
Do I need to be root for this? If rooting is needed can someone point to some links. If something goes wrong I want to be able to revert back to stock. I have read quite a bit and I can't figure out a step-by-step to root. I am not interested in installing a custom ROM like Vegan or TnT lite yet. I just want to see how far I can push the stock before I have to install custom ROM's.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Jimmy

I think you can install apps from Amazon without rooting. You just have to install the Amazon market from their site. For the Google market, look for the enhancement pack here on xda. You can install this without rooting.
Step by step to root:
Find z4root.
Download it.
Intall on your tab.
Run & root...
Really was that simple

Thanks everybody for the reply. If I root using the RzRoot can I easily un-root it in case I need to return the tablet? I was able to install apps from Amazon.
Thanks

I am not able to find files needed to root the stock 4349 gtab. Where is the enhancement pack? Can the enhancement pack for 3389 be used?
thanks

Hey huwaw69,
I think there is no way around rooting and flashing another ROM.
Please follow these Instructions:
Rooting:

Here you can find a list of ROMs:

Hey huwaw69
I didn't have that problem, but it looks like you have the same model of phone that I have. I bought my phone second hand, and it had a few troubles with it's configuration which I manages to sort our by doing a factory reset and sifting through all the settings for both my phone and for my network.
However, the best thing I've done so far for my phone (and my sanity) was to install a custom rom on my phone (just like KanocX suggested). Before you do anything though, BACK UP YOUR SYSTEM... i.e.all your contacts and messages and such (which you can do with a free app like Titanium Backup... but if you can't access Android Market, I'm not sure how you can get it).
Just so you know, I'm no expert with the current generation of phones, but after some careful reading on this forum in the x10 Mini Pro Q & A section, all in all after a coupla hours my phone was better than ever, and bug/crash/freeze free.
Again, I'm no expert, but installing a custom rom I'd say is the way to go

Thanks a lot for the encouragement hehehe im just a little scared to try a custom ROM though but we'll see.
Anyway what ROM are you using? or what ROM can you suggest?
Hello all, I would have liked to search for an answer or post in the correct section, however being that I'm a newby here and this is my first post, I can't do either. Or maybe its just that the search is currently down, either way...
Just bought this device (GT-P3113) and I've already rooted successfully. My question now however is does anybody have a link to a list of apps that are safe to freeze via Titanium Backup? I've looked all over and used the best google-fu I had, no luck finding any such list for this specific device. Thanks for your help! Next up is choosing a quality ROM!
I was just reading this yesterday maybe it will help.?.?

Check out my debloat tool.
I would just do a backup and go through each app that you don't want and freeze it.
When going through I was able to delete/freeze almost every single Samsung Touchwiz apk on the device without any issues what so ever.

Exactly what I was looking for...thank you!
Pop D5 is rooted. Have full internet access. 512 mb Ram. Runs on official ROM. And for additional question,
what's the difference from backing up in titanium and CWM? Thanx in advance.
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. First please register on XDA here,http://forum.xda-developers.com/register.php. This will allow you access all the good stuff on XDA. To answer your question on a rom, what is best is very subjective and what I think is best you may think is the worst. So you'll have to try to find what you think is best. But, unfortunately, there is very little information or development for your device on XDA. I would suggest you keep an eye out in this forum, http://forum.xda-developers.com/android
To your additional question, titanium backup backs up your apps and data while a nandroid backup in cwm, or other custom recovery, backs up your apps and data as well as your system os. However, it does not backup you sd card, music, downloads, etc., So be careful of that.
