[Q] Can anybody point me in the right direction? - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Long story short I'm a semi noob to the my note 10.1 GT-N8013
I recovery flashed back to the stock 4.0.4 after flashing various other roms and came to notice 4.1 jelly bean update was available tried to download & failed obviously because of not being on stock recovery at the time as i had the same issue once upon a time with my GS3 but any how......
My question is after doing nearly 2 hours of searching where are the files for the stock recovery? everything i've pulled up online thus far has shown me recovery for every other build than what i have (IMM76D.N8013UEALI3).
that being said, can anybody show me where i can find em or is it safe to flash the stock recovery from another n8013 4.0.4 build number?

yeah, I'll be flashing it with odin. I would just wipe everything and restore via cwm recovery but with limited internet as i'm overseas on a deployment right now it's kind of an issue.

You first need to download the pda file to go back to stock.
If you have a backup on your device you can reset it to the backup moment.

[Q] Firmware Update Not Completing

I received notice this morning that a firmware update was ready to install. I chose to install it and the tablet rebooted and start to apply the update. However, it gets to 32% on the update install, stalls, and then reboots and does the exact same thing.
Any thoughts on a solution?

i have the same problm :crying:
Need more info than that.
For example... Are you rooted or stock?
If rooted, there are a couple of reasons off hand I can think of you could be having a problem.
If you're stock, well... All I can think of is wave your hands in the air, and wave them like you just don't care. Pretty sure that won't fix the problem though, but if it does, report back! xD
I'm rooted.

exactly the same problem
I have the exact same problem.
GT-N8013, rooted, stock rom with root injected.
I called Samsung tech service and they said I should send my device to them.
The only way I can get out of this "update->reboot->update->reboot->..." infinite loop is to get into ODIN mode. (I can't turn off the device)
I decided to re-flash my rom (stock rom with root injected) in ODIN mode, but it does not have any effect and the device is still on this infinite loop. I'm worried if I messed up the device even more by doing that.

I'm in the same situation.
I'm going to try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1849994
when I get home tonight to see if this fixes it.
Is there any way I can at least access the internal storage somehow and copy my data?
There are some important job application info in S Note..

Try using Odin to flash the high on android cwm recovery. Once I did that I could restore a backup and boot to android.
Thank you! but I've been on stock recovery so I never flashed cwm or made a cwm backup. How can I restore to a backup after I flash the cwm recovery?

if you've never flash CWM, that means you never backed up via CWM, which means you can't restore to a back up. You have to use ODIN and flash a stock firmware on your note to recover it
Yes I'm trying to find a stock firmware for N8013 (UEALGB) but no luck. There is only "root injected" stock firmware, which is causing the problem right now...
Has anyone resolved this problem?

I have a N8013 and was running the stock, root injected firmware (UEALGB). Today I got the update notification. I tried to install and it kept looping. This is what I did:
1. Flashed the stock firmware with ODIN. You'll find the stock firmware here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1847706
2. When my tab rebooted, I got another update notification. I installed it and it worked. I'm now running UEALI3.
I didn't lose any data. I just lost root.
This worked for me as well. Thanks a lot, Vincent9756!:good:

Flash the recovery version for your firmware. If you have stock, flash the GB recovery. If you have LH2, flash that.
If you want to save root, use OTA RootKeeper before doing anything.

Im sorry but what do you mean GB Aaah that was the primary stock recovery before i updated to LH2 lol, now i get it.?The one that i have is the CWM HighonAndroid which was used for the Method 2 to obtain root, so then i jus tdownoad the stock LH2 Recovery, and use OTA rootkeeper before Odin LH2 Stock Recovery right? Will there also be a stock kernel and recovery for UEALI3 ? was thinking of possibly using the Triangle Away after this, possibly might be needed. Though maybe not.
Just want to make sure that everything is normal after this lol
ok... giving it a shot now, and using the OTA RootKeeper, lets see if this works
Everything Got updated !!! OTA seems to have worked which was awesome.
Testing everything to make sure that Root is fully funtional .
Used RootChecker, and things seems fully working!
Thank you loads for the help!

Yeah, there will most certainly be kernel and recovery uploads.
the only issue you might run into is CWM not sticking. If it doesn't reflash CWM in ODIN with reboot unchecked. Then after you flash it, boot into CWM. When you select reboot, it should offer to prevent stock recovery from replacing it.
and you're welcome, glad to help
Guys u might think this is a dumb question but how do i flash stock recovery with odin like were do insert the file i know how tp put in dl mode and get my comp to see my tab in odin and i did flash the prerooted injected stock uealgb recovery to get root i just dont know were to put the files in odin some help would be greatly appreciated, cause i need to flash this first before i do the ota update correct ? no, my question is if I need to install the recovery or I can use the recovery that brings the tablet without root or other recovery
if you're installingnstock Samsung firmware, or those leaked OTAs, you only need stock recovery, i'd advise you to odin flash the UK 4.1.1 version for the 3110 instead, those OTAs are unstable and odd, the first 4.1.1 ota boots and gives wifi and autobrightness issues, the latest 4.1.1 ota does not go past the tab 2 bootscreen, I'm running the uk 4.1.1 for the 3110 from Sammobile on my P3113, overall, everything works smooth.
Sent from my GT-P3110 using XDA Premium HD app
those are test firmwares, and if arent sure how to install them then perhaps you shouldnt. if there is a problem you are gonna have a hard time fixing it.
RESOLVED: the ODIN flash did work once i got the right tar file.
I tried flashing one of those firmwares for 4.1.1 which was only 357 MB and it got stuck at the boot screen, It seems I had bad instructions I followed with a link to an incomplete flash file, perhaps part 1 of a 2 part download. When it flashed it last said it was updating remaining files and then went back to the recovery, When I rebooted it stuck at the recovery even after a data wipe. I tried flashing a 3113 rooted stock rom and it gives me an E:signature verification failed. I used odin to flash the 4.04 stock rom which passes, but it still freezes at the boot screen even after a data wipe. Should I try flashing CWM recovery through odin to get around the signature verification or does someone know another procedure that has worked to get back to stock 4.04 from this condition. I have seen this mentioned a couple of times in the development threads with users indicating that they got back to stock, but without details of exactly how.
The firmware I apparently partially flashed was GT-P3113_P3113UECLI4-OTA-P3113UEBLH2_XAR_374372839
Also I was not able to see if usb debugging was enabled since I could not do anything but recovery or download modes on the tablet.

That's completely unmodified. (I tried just installing it in CWM. Think I probably bricked doing something silly...)
I pulled this as well, but I'm curious if you had to flash back to stock firmware and recovery to get it. I tried using a rooted stock rom and the software update screen would give me a "modified devices don't get updates" message. I actually had to have stock recovery and system installed so that it would download. Did you have to do the same thing?

I have a modified boot.img- perhaps that blocks the ota?
My device is rooted.
It is on 4.2.1 genuine T-mobile software.
When I want to update OverTheAir this message pop out.
See attachement (I don't know how to put image here).
What can I do to update OTA?
I played around with this a while ago (my flash counter is at 29 last time I checked).
I think you have a few options:
1) maybe unroot and that might remove the modified status
2) use heimdall or odin to flash back to unrooted stock, including stock recovery and boot.img
3) flash one of the rooted JB roms, either stock, cyanogen, or our very own Teamapexq rom
4) download the OTA or the JB rom from the web and repackage it yourself to a flashable zip.
Option 1 might not work. Option 2-4 will work, 4 would be the most fun.

OMG, I would like to do it with no hassle.
I just want something to work ... grrr.
Option 2 would probably be the most straightforward. Essentially, you are unrooting. I just remembered, Samsung has Kies which might restore it to stock. You can download it from their website.

the update in this thread is only about JB 4.1.2 that is officially the latest and the last one for our mobile. your message box is normal, there is no need for the usage of the OTA anymore since then. if u want to update to JB 4.3 follow this unofficial image:

Oh boy. Here we go. Having troubles here.
I am trying to re-flash my phone to stock so I can return it under the protection plan. I firmly believe my radio might be on the fritz.
Anyway, I used the directions here:
http://theunlockr.com/2013/04/25/how-to-unroot-the-samsung-galaxy-s-relay-4g-sgh-t699/
Now it all completed successfully, and the phone is chilling at the SAMSUNG screen trying to boot. Not sure what to do at this point. Its been sitting there for a good 5 minutes.
Please help!!
UPDATE: Went into stock recovery, cleared Cache and Data, then rebooted it again, and it booted!
Which JelyBean Version...!!!

Quick question about going from 4.1 to 4.4 (Been gone for a while)

So like the title says I have been out of the ROM game for a little bit. Every couple of months I check in and see whats new and flash something else.
I was on the Jelly Beans ROM (Build 16 I think) and Android 4.1. I did some searching last night as was going to try flashing Gummy ROM…bad idea. I am guessing I needed something prior to jumping up to a 4.4 base. I booted to recovery and wiped everything and tried to flash with no luck. So the phone would not boot and I could only get into recovery and download mode. I did not have my micro SD adapter in order to get jelly beans back on it to flash so I ended up having to use odin to flash a stock rooted 4.1 image. Finally got everything back up and running but I still want to try some of the 4.4 ROMs. So what exactly do I need first in order to flash one? (Modem maybe)…if you know for sure why that happened and what I need to do please let me know. Thanks!
My Current "About Phone" Info...
Android Version - 4.1.2
Baseband version - I535VRBMB1
Jelly Beans - Build 20
P.S. I have tried doing the research and nothing I have found has been clear but one thing I came across is the official 4.3 update was bad news and broke the root methods? So should I stay away from 4.3 ROMs and is the old root method blocked in 4.4 as well or is that a different case since it wasn't actually released for our phone. If that makes sense lol

you need the latest recoveries to flash kk roms. cwm is here https://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager
and twrp is here http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/102. make sure you download the d2vzw version
if you're rooted you should have no problems flashing 4.4 rom. I recommend beanstalk from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2354113. has worked great for me. you have to also update the modem to ML1 from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1788313
as always do a nandroid before you do anything and you should backup your sd card to your computer. they probably will move post this to another thread.
good luck

ahh I didn't even think of that? yes. flash the ML1 modem. I provided the link in my previous post. it's a fact that earlier recoveries won't flash kk roms. I found out the hard way myself. hopefully you'll have titanium or rom toolbox to backup your apps with data.

Thanks a lot!!.. So how do I know if my recovery is new enough? I was never a fan of the touch recoveries because I felt like it would be easier to do something on accident so I haven't tried one in a while...I am using clockwork mod recovery 6.0.4.5. Is that new enough??
Also one lasttttt question I swear...can someone give me a quick list of the different recovery options that are out there now...and maybe list some features of each...thank you

that recovery is fine. i've only used cwm and twrp.. had some problems with philz recovery so I ditched it. basically they're all the same. twrp lets you name your back where as cwm just uses some default name which of course you can change with a file manager. twrp also wipes all 3 (system, cache and dalvik) with one swipe where as cwm requires 3 separate operations. I really haven't done much in recovery other than wiping and flashing. I'm actually on the latest twrp and have had no problems flashing kk roms. keep in mind that you can't backup in cwm and restore it using twrp and vice versa. it's really more a personal preference as far as I'm concerned.
