Ubuntu on Razr HD? - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have seen that ubuntu is now available on phone, and i really liked how it looked.
And i think it would be great to run it.
But i dont know how well it would run on my phone.
Has anybody installed ubuntu on their razr hd?
How does it feel, does it work.
I think ubuntu would work perfectly on the razr hd since it has no buttons and that what i think ubuntu on phones is all about.
Any help is apreciatted.
Btw this is my first post.
Wasnt too sure where to post it

Isn't the first release only for the GNex and its mostly for development... consumer release will come later in 2013 or 2014 (according to Android authority)

Well i dont really know.
But after looking up more info i realized that it wasnt realesed yet.

Well anyways i hope it gets to the razr hd.

Any efforts porting Ubuntu to Razr HD?

Hey guys!
Does anyone know if there is a Ubuntu port for the Razr HD in progress?
I dont find any information about ubuntu and the razr
Why are so many devices already supported but not yet a sign from the razr hd?

Locked bootloader probably. This does have one right?
Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk 2

it has but you can unlock it - as far as i know.
are there any other problems that may prevent the razr to get ubuntu?

I am currently looking into making a port, cause i am pretty curious on having a look at ubuntu phone myself. But don't count on me, as i am a little short on time currently.

The n7 is already fully supported by ubuntu... to be exact all recent nexus devices. First step for a successful port is a cm10.1 kernel for the target device. It does not need to be full blown, as a lot of functions aren't neccessary for Ubuntu, and requires some modification. (e.g. no Dalvik - theres no VM eh )

[Q] Multi Boot Rom Question

This will probably sound like such a n00b question but will ask it anyway.
I've read about how some of the newer phones can have different roms load on boot for testing purposes. I wanted to know if the Motorola Xoom WiFi edition can do the same and if so, can someone direct me to instructions?
I bought the my Xoom when it first came out. I have not heard of multi-boot for the Xoom. It does sound interesting.
Doesn't exist yet.

[Q] RAZR HD

Hi all !
Does anyone know why there still is no section for the RAZR HD ?
It's already been realized. At least here, in France.
Does it share common hardware with another phone ?
Thanks
Stas
I think xda is US based, do you probably won't see a dedicated forum for the Razr HD until it is released here.
It uses the Snapdragon S4 processor, so it is similar in that respect to many phones.

How's battery life? The old Razr has a 1780mah battery, while the new Razr HD you have has a 2530mah.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
i bought it here in Canada just today...
Fantastic battery life on LTE, i will know more tomorrow on a full day of use.
the build quality is incredible. I have had mainly Nexus devices with the odd HTC One X...nothing touches this in terms of build quality and overall solid feel.
ICS...its ICS. Having used JB on the GNexus the last several months its hard to take a step down to jittery old ICS. Like you wouldnt know it if you hadnt played with JB, but ICS lags!
The screen, out of the box, is great and doesnt require a lot of colour tweaks.
Aside from that, love it.
Hopefully this will get a root (its officially supported by Moto in its bootloader unlock program) and i can get CM10 or something on this ASAP
Any questions? I will try to answer them as best i can.
It might come thus Thursday 18th to Verizon
I'm keeping my fingers crossed

SGSIII or the RAZR HD?

I currently have the galaxy s3 and I'm looking to see which is better, I'd like to see some opinions before I choose! :good:
I can't see a reason to leave the SGSIII for any phone right now... except maybe the next nexus but who knows that's a different story.

i agree.....the only real difference between the s3 and maxx hd will be slightly longer battery life and a 1080p screen when we only have 720p....and they're supposed to get an upgrade to jelly bean first as opposed to whenever the hell we're getting it lol
I'd take our unlockable bootloader any day though

true, i forgot they don't have an exploit like we do to blow the bootloader open, but they do have the motofail exploit to root, so they're halfway there lmao.....at least you can immediately debloat it if you decide to get the maxx hd
I wouldnt take a moto device if it was a gift. Even when a carrier (vzw)demands a locked bootloader, sammy leaves exploits for devs to do thier thing.
gs3 has 2gb of ram also. i thought the razr hd was 720p?
Just checked specs and RAZR HD is 720p like are phone so it has less ram but larger battery.

No phone in the US has 1080p screen yet, HTC announced the first device to have 1080p resolution display this week, the HTC J Butterfly. Available initially in Japan, should be the HTC 5" coming to VZW sometime in the near future.
Back to the question, The Droid RAZR and GS3 are very, very similar.
If you want a phone with more options out of the box, better looking and design... well, you should go with the GS3. The RAZR will most likely receive updated faster than Samsung. There's isn't much of a skin on the new Moto's phones so if you want an almost true Android experience, updates sooner... in this case the RAZR is your option.
I personally don't think updates should the reason to purchase a phone, with the dev communities we have now a days, I'm sure there will always be good qualities ROMs out there.

Any interest???

Anyone here ever run a Eclipse ROM before???
Well if u haven't u Dont know what Ur missing
Nitro is the dev responsible for that amazing ROM series
I was hoping we would see a port from his work on the RAZR M....but that looks grim
I think we need to get together and buy Nitro a RAZR HD
Anyone wanna take charge and get a bounty rolling for this???
PS if Ur in familiar with his work...he has put out some of the smoothest and most stable ROMs ever!! No joke...do a search ..best ROMs EVER...no joke
Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using xda app-developers app
There have been a couple of these threads and they have all died out. I've run his ROM before and it is amazing. The problem here is that the HD is one high priced device so we need some serious commitment. Maybe this thread or one similar should be stickied so we can get this done.
Come on people... don't be cheap, pitch in whatever you can. I'm down for some money if the proper interest is shown.

I just Dont have the time to organize the bounty and keep track of everything
Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using xda app-developers app
I'll organize it and keep track of it no problem. People can just donate to Nitro directly. If we let him know what its for he will set it aside in a specific account and if we don't reach the goal he will send it back. That's how he did it for the M.

HTC ONE S vs RAZR HD

I'm on the lookout for a new phone, and just wondering which of these two to get.
One s pros: build quality, size, development?
RAZR HD: battery life, micro sd
Thanks

Can't say much about the HTC other than I hate Sense. Motos Blur is as close to pure AOSP as you are going to get on a non nexus phone. I can say that my RAZR MAXX HD is by far the best phone that I have ever owned. The battery life alone accounts for most of my pleasure as well as the build quality. The combination of kevlar , metal and gorilla glass make it a no need for a case phone. Development is finally heating up so fully functional AOSP is just around the corner.

And yea from what I know, RAZR HD has one of the best battery lives on a smartphone. I rather like sense 5 tho, looks really pretty

That's me. The last HTC phone that I owned was the OG Evo4g. Sense was so overly bloated that the phone could barely operate for 4 hours with it. I did not use close to a quarter of the crap that it had preloaded. I would hope that they have worked on trimming that beast down over the years.

Well I guess bloatware is one of the reasons we root in the first place. My friends have both the RAZR HD and the one s, and there is no difference on speed as far I can tell. Sense has come a long way. The RAZR got jellybean a few months ago right?

Check this out http://versusio.com/en/htc-one-s-vs-motorola-droid-razr-maxx-hd
Looks like the One S has a better camera and speakers. The RAZR MAXX HD has a bigger and better screen with higher resolution. The battery is double the size of One S. Internal memory and SD support are also a plus for the RAZR MAXX HD.
Guess it all comes down to what you want your phone to do.

I guess so. I have Ord, Rom updating disorder, so development is pretty important. Of course, the sd card helps a lot. How is development so far, stable cm?
Sent from my HTC Desire C using xda app-developers app
It's come a long way. Some amazing devs have just recently unlocked the bootloader without the support of Motorola. Now Hash and Byte are working on a custom kernel for AOSP. It appears that the kernel is nearly complete. There are some 4.2 ROMs floating around but they are suffering from lacking a completed kernel. Once that kernel drops, I'd imagine the devs will have us on official support from the likes of Cm, AOKP and etc...
...
I've had a One S and now the Razr HD. The HD all the way I'd say. No sd slot is a deal breaker and only 16gigs of storage. Depends where you live but the HD has far better signal reception. The reason why I got rid of the one S. Other than that most of of what has already been said applies.
HD!
go for the razr hd, you wont regret.
almost stock interface, great battery. period.
