Can't root Xperia S - General Questions and Answers

Hello, I have a problem, do all the steps but when I click on Restore in mobile, not the message that should be in the Windows console, either restarts or anything ...
Also when I click on Restore (the backup is loaded BootMe) takes not even half a second in "restored"
PS: I have debug mode and third applications on.
Guide I used: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
Other: That the 2nd time I root my Xperia S. The first time worked, but now no.
Someone help me?

You may have an updated firmware that blocks the exploit. If you do you'll need to flash a rootable ftf then root. Search the Xperia S forum for the files

don't root, unlock the boot loader first then flash a rooted rom, much much easier

If you don't want to lose DRM keys and Warranty, first flash a rootable .ftf file using Flashtool. You can find link in your forum. DO NOT unlock your bootloader. It voids your warranty. If you don't care, unlock it. And Use the search function before starting a new thread.
If someone helps you, hit thanks button.

[Q] st18i xperia ray 2.3.4 4.0.2.a.0.62 root

Sorry but I can't find out what to do.
I want to remove about 10-15 apps from my xperia ray like tetris demo, trial wise pilot, or even more uselessapps like facebook, trackid, or sync(as sync is not working anyway).
So in fact, all I want is to remove all the irrelevant apps from the system.
Problem is:
I get confused searching the site. (ST18i/ .368 or .62/2.3.3 or 2.3.4; I couldn't figure out what to do. Bootloader unlock via official site was no problem; but then what?)
So I do not want a complete empty system, I just want to remove some apps which should not be locked in the . Do I need a full root, or is there a simple way?
Can anyone help me?
Hi, I'm not a dev and I'm new to android too, so maybe someone have to confirm what I say.
You don't have to unlock your bootloader to remove bloatware, just root it.
I think that there's no way to root .62 firmware (at least for now). You have to downgrade to .42 (using Wotan Server, for exemple) and root your mobile with Zergrush method (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1320350), when root is done you can upgrade to .62 firmware OTA that will keep your phone rooted.
That's what I did when I reinstalled .62 FW in my X Ray with SEUS after a bootloop problem.
Inform steps

[Q] Rooting Sony Xperia Miro

Hi all,
I have tried to root my new Sony Xperia Miro (Vodafone UK). I have Android SDK and Superoneclick. Superoneclick gets stuck on "waiting for device" when I launch the rooting process (I have unmounted my SD). I have trawled Google, but I haven't found anything that helps.
The phone isn't listed on XDA, I assume, because it's hot off the press. Any advice would be appreciated.
Sincerely, Noob.

That worked for me after a couple tries

Do you need an unlocked bootloader for this?
Nope, at least, I hadn't. I pulled my Miro out of the box, set up the device with my Google account, and started the script. The first three times it failed, but the fourth time it worked. I suppose I didn't unlock the bootloader in the process.
I'll also try to see if I can. :cyclops:
King regards,
Jorge
I ran version 11 and got the first!!
Excellent!!
Many thanks to the developers!!
root miro
root didn't work on new firmware on miro :crying:
Sony repaired bug and now this tool dont work ..
You need to revert back to firmware 11.0.A.2.10 in order to root. I had my miro updated
to 11.0.A.5.5 but I was unable to root it. I reverted back to 11.0.A.2.10 (using flashtool
and ST23i_11.0.A.2.10_CentralEurope.ftf) and then I rooted it easily with "Root_with_Restore
_by_Bin4ry_v18".
If you are not planning on installing a custom rom, just flash it with a clear OEM 11.0.A.5.5
firmware so as to get rid of all the crap that came with your phone.

[Q] Unable to Root/Recovery on Xperia Z3 Lollipop

Hi All,
Brand new member here thanking you all in advance for any help.
I have the same storage problems that I've seen from many users so I'm trying to save/install apps into my 128gb sd card but I read that it cannot be done without rooting. I have spent the past 48 hours going through a bunch on info I found on XDA forums as well as forums and boards in other places and what I gathered so far is.
1. Rooting is required
2. Rooting cannot be achieved without first installing a custom recovery
3. Custom recovery cannot be achieved without first unlocking the bootloader
After 48 hours of going through everything I could find all I have to show for it is that I managed to unlock the bootloader and wipe my phone clean, but nothing else.
I already have all the ADB files and Fastboot files (downloaded from 2 different sources), I also downloaded the Android SDK, SuperSU file, Giefroot, the Xperia drivers for the computer, and a file called "bootZ3monxtest01.img" but when I try to flash this boot file I get the error "FAILED <remote: image is not a boot image>"
I've seen the various threads on how to root without unlocking the bootloader and also on several programs designed to root with just one click but all of them require me to downgrade the fw which I dont feel confident doing, so I was trying to follow the instructions on this page (techjeep.com/2015/04/19/how-to-root-xperia-z3-running-android-5-0-2-lollipop-23-1-a-0-726/) which seems to allow me to do everything using my current phone setup but I'm stuck because I dont have recovery and the link they provide on this page does not work.
Phone specs as follows:
Sony Xperia Z3
Model: D6653
Android: 5.0.2
Kernel: 3.4.0-perf-g72984dd [email protected] #1
Build: 23.1.A.0.726
USB Debugging: On
Allow mock locations: On
Verify apps over USB: Off
Unknown sources: On
Bootloader: Unlocked
I'd really appreciate the help you guys can give me to sort this out and get the phone up and running again.
Thank you!

Got Cheated with a Z3 Prototype Protected

i got more info from the other threads on this similar issue.
Since i invested my one months salary to it (its stupid i know) and the seller could not be found i am about to fix this my self but i need some help i have low knowledge on Flashing , Installing Rom etc. So Please Help me.
Model # D6603
Android 4.4.4
Build # 23.0.1.A5.77
Rooted = NO
Bootloader = NO
will this work ?

i cant post images since new user
It is for d6903 not for d6603. And you cannot flash a pre-rooted ftf file if you have not rooted your phone before flashing. I think you should just flash the latest marshmallow ftf for d6603 and root you phone afterwards.

I'm pretty sure prototype protection is the apk that does that just delete it. Use kingroot to obtain root. find xz dual recovery theres actually an apk for it so if you found that and installed a prerooted zip you don't even need a computer becarefull what you are flashing if you flash the wrong stuff you could brick your phone.

Thanks for your reply.
You're saying that to install a pre-rooted Rom I should root first. Then install the rom.
Could you link me a good rooting software and flashing Roms?

I found a site which could Flash 5.1.1 W/O root using flash tools xperiafirmware.com, Could you tell me whether that method work ?
The best way is to flash kitkat and root with giefroot. 5.1.1 rooting methods by kingroot, sends your IMEI to an anonymous IP in China.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/general/guide-rootrecovery-how-to-root-install-t3017056 this is the common and safe rooting method. However, if you don't want to flash kitkat and stuff, you can flash Marshmallow ftf files(you can download them through Xperifirm) and root your phone http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/general/wip-sony-android-6-0-mm-t3337357 with this method
Thank you Guys for your help ! i flashed Marshmallow ftf and the phone is smooth and got rid of all the Prototype issues. thanks again.
i just got one off ebay with same issue, I am unable to get it to fastboot or bootloader mode with vol buttons, very strange, and nothing when plugged in with USB, does not turn on or display in win 10, i loaded the usb drivers for it but still nothing...
