Available tools:
Remember to turn on USB debugging":
*Settings>Developer Options>Tick on>Tick on debugging*
Fastboot and ADB drivers (We have a plethora of these thru xda or external google search)
-I prefer putting the unzipped packages to a personal folder on your desktop or a specific location of your choice. i.e. "D:\mydevfolder"
-Most of the files that would require fastboot and/or adb commands should be unzipped to that same location for access.
ASUS USB Drivers HERE
-To install, let the computer detect your device. Open device manager and choose the Asus android adb blahblah device. Update the driver and browse manually to where you put the driver folder. This should allow you to use fastboot and adb properly.
Unlock.APK HERE under Utilities
-Copy this to your phone and sideload. If prompted to turn of security, do so.
Latest Firmware HERE under Firmware and look for the correct version( WWE, TW, HK, ETC)
-This is for reverting back to stock which will wipe the smartphone clean including re-lock of the bootloader("fastboot oem lock" does not work)
insecure JB and/or ICS images on the same post here
-Depending on your current version you may need to flash one of the other img's
One click SUPERBOOT for Windows/Mac/Linux http://www.modaco.com/topic/360416-superboot-padfone-2-root-solution/
-Should be the easiest way to root
-Unlock bootloader> boot to bootloader > run batch file
****************De-odexed stock ROM here and here links will be changed when updates are made
CHANGE SKU](Firmware version) WWE-TW-HK-JP
-Instructions and original thread here thanks to gsep
Another method that I have tested as such:
*Make sure to flash superboot first*
-Install/Flash TWRP custom recovery
-Download desired stock ROM from Asus
-Put the OTA.zip or the whole extracted folder to your sdcard
-Reboot to TWRP
-Install OTA.zip
-Wipe cache and dalvik cache
-reboot and profit
-A factory settings is recommended after flashing stock ROM, so backup
TWRP 2.4.3.0 custom recovery
-via Goo Manager from the Playstore or here
-TWRP site here
-or here
ALL CREDITS GO TO Dees_troy of TWRP
CWM here
How-to unlock bootloader:
*I strongly recommend backing up*
1. Copy the UnLock.apk you have downloaded and paste it on your sdcard(anywhere you would be able to navigate to using at least the stock File Manager)
2. Install the app. If prompted that unknown sources is disabled, simply enable it.
3. Run the app after installation
4. A few notices/disclaimers will be displayed pertaining to the warranty upon unlocking. You will be prompted to type in your google account password if you have one logged on the device(will need internet connection if so).
5. The device will reboot and your bootloader should be unlocked and you will be able to reboot to the bootloader. You will not be able to receive OTA.
-To know that it is successful, type in "adb reboot-bootloader" when the devices fully boots up. The bootloader looks like the Splashscreen with "Fastboot Mode!!" on top.
How-to-gain-root
Since CWM and TWRP offers to root your device if it detects that it has not been rooted, simply flash your custom recovery, boot to it, and then reboot to system. It should ask to root your system
VIDEO ON HOW TO ROOT THE PADFONE 2 here (this is old and I need to update this video)
ROM.zip installation
-copy your ROM.zip to your SDcard
-reboot to your custom recovery
-install ROM.zip
-wipe cache and dalvik cache
-reboot
Revert to Stock ROM: (ALL)
-Unzip the Firmware you have downloaded(make sure that's the correct version for you) to the root of your sdcard.
-Wait for system to recognize the update. If no, reboot.
-Install the update, it will revert to that stock ROM. In the process relocking the bootloader and flashing all stock images.

In case of distaster
In case that you've bricked your phone and you can't mount on your custom recovery
-Reboot to bootloader
-Flash stock recovery(It's up there you should be able to find it) "fastboot flash recovery *stockrecovery.img*"
-"fastboot erase cache"
-Boot to your stock recovery
-Sideload ROM to /cache
-install ROM via cache
*you may have to flash insecure boot.img again
Thanks to DjBastard
*I did something like this but I'm always messy so I don't recall the right steps*

MIUI Battery bar Mod by Lidenburg
Here! new version with bug fixes
lindsaytheflint said:
Well it offers the following:
Lowest CPU frequency set to 192mhz
CPU frequency locked to 192mhz-1512mhz during boot
Undervolted to save power & reduce heat
Undervolt interface (compatible with System Tuner, Kernel Tuner, etc)
Additional CPU Governors: Wheatley, InteractiveX v2
Set InteractiveX v2 CPU Governor to default instead of Performance, to lower battery consumption, maintain snappy performance, and improve GPU normal freq set to 128mhz to lower battery usage (will still scale upto 487mhz when busy)
Simple IO Scheduler (SIO) added, and set as default
Increased min/max read-ahead values from 16/128 to 32/1024
USB FastCharge upto 1400mA (enable using Kernel Tuner, sysfs, etc)
OC version: Overclocking upto 1.72ghz for a bit faster performance
OC version: GPU overclock to 487mhz
I'll leave it up to others to determine whether those features are of any benefit to them, but personally, any one of those features is beneficial to me. They're features I've appreciated from custom kernels on other phones, that's why I built the Stone kernel for PF2. There are people that have been using it for a month now, so I think it's safe to say initial testing is complete.

PFKBS - Padfone keyboard swither!!!
Are you tired to change keyboard always when you plug or unplug the padfone from station, that time is past now, solution is PFKBS!!!
Here it is the must to have app to Padfone2 (and maybe 1), the Padfone Keyboard Switcher! Need root!
App just start and you can choose the keyboards to tablet and to phone, and then you just start using what u just do!
Example, if you love the AOSP keybard on Phone, and Swype in tablet you just select those keyboards! This app switches keyboards without any prompt or any questions, only thing you need is a root rights.
App is only beta and I hope that you will report bugs you find!
I want to know if someone test this app on Padfone1 and report will it work! PF1 users must open zip and put only pfkbs.apk to system/app, do not flash the zip! Are you tired to change keyboard always when you plug or unplug the padfone from station, that time is past now, solution is PFKBS!!!

Thanks man you saved me the searching while I'm not yet home!
I figured out a way to root this thing using a combination of these guides that relatively made it simpler(basically how you usually root a device using fastboot and adb) cause some parts just didn't work the first time for me.

Reverting to stock:
-Unzip the Firmware you have downloaded(make sure that's the correct version for you) to the root of your sdcard.
-Wait for system to recognize the update. If no, reboot.
-Install the update, it will revert to that stock ROM. In the process relocking the bootloader and flashing all stock images.

Technically you're right.
But the tech at Asus has to do extra work to see whether you have previously unlocked it.
Its not like nexus device or other bootloaders where it will display the bootloader as "re-locked"
And "fastboot oem relock" doesnt work

Exactly. Here in Manila they do honor it(maybe depending on the situation, meltdown in mind).
As long as they saw the warranty card they just accept and do it. But they charge cause parts get shipped.
Minor problems they don't charge.. I think.. way back tf101

You can unlock the bootloader with ASUS's official app on their website, search up transformer tf300 and there will be a .apk that you can install to unlock it. After that, use fastboot to flash a recovery such as cwm or twrp, then flash a root package or a ROM with root. Hope this helped!
Oky thanks can you send me link on how to flash using fastboot on tf300? Also cant I just keep factory room and root that if ao how any links will be helpful thanks

You can read this thread for more information about unlocking and rooting, but before starting anything, please think about it and be aware that unlocking the bootloader will:
- void your warranty
- prevent further OTA updates for your tablet from Asus

Before you read, there are some considerations: I unlocked my device last night and I am running either .29 or .30 of the ICS firmware. I also, never connected the device to my network until after I unlocked it. So if you have a TF300T runing the above versions of ICS, then it should work for you. You said you: "updated to latest via ota..." If you did this, you are on Jelly Bean and at the moment, there is no known way to make your device "unbrickable." You can still mod it, but if you dont follow directions perfectly, you could easily brick your device. Now without further hesitation....
Here it is, the TF300T unlocking guide:
Go to the Asus site and download the v7 tool
copy the v7 tool to the tablet
run the v7 tool on your tablet from the tablet GUI
it will install the v7 unlocker application
run the unlocker application from your app drawer
you have to accept a few agreements
click the unlock button
after that, your device will reboot
This is how to confirm that the unlock tool was successful: After your TF300 reboots, you will see the normal ASUS logo in the middle and some very small text in the top left will say: "device unlocked."
Now for rooting:
If you already have root, and you want to keep your exiting root access, make a backup after unlocking. The backup instructions are included in the "unbrickable" method. If you do not have root, just make a backup anyways. Then you can flash a ROM onto your device that is pre-loaded with root.
I hope that answered your questions.
Thanks but no I am on jb. So I will just wait till a solution comes out for unbrickable before trying anything dont want to mod ot just want tp remove a few apps

It seems someone always bricks on something that was thought to be unbrickable. No I'm not suggesting you go forward, just the opposite. As long as you aren't sure about change enjoy your tablet as it is and just forget about the apps that bother you.
Good Luck!

I would post this under development, but I need 10 posts to do that. So I hope someone will look here to help me out.
So I got the new update yesterday. I have nothing against the stock rom, But it broke my tethering app. I found a way to root my S3. [GUIDE] Root for Jelly Bean OTA ***UPDATED*** - xda-developers
No problem there. I was looking to install a version of Paranoid Android, But using Goomanager this was not an available rom. (Is there one for the S3) I tried a few other roms and they all looked kind of chunky to me. A few had a flicker effect when you went to the home screen (aokp milestone 1 and bean)
Well now i went the route of http://forums.androidcentral.com/ve...-back-clean-factory-stock-update-10-23-a.html And I am back to Factory fresh rom with an unlocked boot loader. If I were to root the factory rom and leave it what would be the effects in the long run, and is there a costume factory rom (Jelly bean) that would solve my problem...
Thanks
Well first, this shouldn't be posted in development because you're nitty releasing anything. So this Is the right spot.
Second, I'm not sure what you're looking for under original development you'll find the AOKP for us. If you want stock jelly bean that logs like AOSP check out beans build 6

Second, Now that I am back to stock rom I just wanted to see if anyone could answer my question about rooting and leaving it...
Third... Is there a paranoid android available for S3
Gotcha! Guess I misunderstood where you wanted to post, my bad. Then rooting and leaving it is fine, no long term effect. I run stock rooted all the time...until I get bored. Also, here us the official AOKP

Thanks for the reply's So what you are saying is I can run stock root until there is another update and the worst that will happen is it will break my root?????
Like I said I like how stock functions, but it broke my tethering app. I am still on the unlimited data plan and spent 700.00 for the S3 so i could stay there. kind of a waste of cash now that Foxfi wont work. If I can root then I can use open garden.
If your into the programing part. When using oden to root what does this do..VRALEC.bootchain.tar and then they have you do this one at the end.VRBLK3_Bootchain.tar
If I get answers for these I do have one more that I will post later....
Thanks again

Yes you can stay stock rooted and if you use voodoo ota keeper you may even keep root after updates.
The reason you have to flash the old insecure boot chain is so you can unlock your boot loader and install recovery, so that you can then root. The only reason you flash the new one at the end is so that to your boot chain matches your ROM. The last party is optional, but it just makes since to have as much matching as possible.

That is great..now to my last question..(a few more like this and I can post directly to the guys thread)
When doing this step I am using TWRP.
Step 4 - Rooting Your Device and Unlocking Your Bootloader
Quote:
Using your custom recovery flash the download you chose above from Step 1 (#3)
Upon exiting your custom recovery to reboot first time, you will be asked if you want to "Disable recovery flash", you MUST select Yes
After reboot, your ROM will now be fully rooted, have a custom recovery, and/or your bootloader unlocked as well
after flashing SuperSU + Unlocked Bootloader I go to reboot but it does not ask about the Disabling of the recovery flash. Should I be worried or should I maybe flash back the Factory bootloader with ODEN after I am rooted??
Sadly, this seems to be the most active thread for Paranoid Android. Currently that thread's original Dev is MIA and the last build he made was based on 2.54 (current PA is 2.99). Another Dev ported 2.99 but people are reporting issues with it. I ran the 2.54 one for a couple of weeks and it wasn't terrible.

As we don't have specific thread on xda and development for our device is scattered over cyanogenmod forum, htcmania forum, i decided to create a general thread linked to all other forums:laugh:.But please don't forget to vote for our device first here.
Please read all instructions below carefully before doing anything to your device. No one will be responsible for anything that will happen to you or your device.
Let's start...
Installing the driver for device is the primary need. So, let's first download drivers.
Drivers:
First Download LG support tool and open it.Wait for it to Load.
Once it is loaded then go to options and select your country.
And click on Install USB Drivers.Thats it.
Alternatively you can download and install this drivers from here
Click to collapse
Root:
Visit unlockroot site and download unlockroot & install it.
On the phone go to Settings>Applications>Development and tick USB Debugging
Connect device to PC, open unlock root and Click Root.
Alternatively you can use SuperoneclickRoot.
Click to collapse
Clockworkmod Recovery:
As we have official Clockworkmod available, its too easy to install CWM.
Download the ROM Manager application from Google Play.
Open it and select Flash Clockworkmod Recovery.and select LG Optimus SOl.
Controls: VOLUP and VOL DOWN to navigate and BACK for previous menu and POWER to select .Official CWM has bugs in restoring Nandroid backups. If you are big fan of Nandroid back up then alternative recovery is available for you which don't have any bugs.Download it from here and flash it via CWM (I don't take credits.I found on 4pda, created by Cacha_Ivanov.In this recovery, buttons are changed.Use vol up and down to navigate and HOME to select). If you want your official CWM back then flash this.
Alternatively, Recovery can be flashed directly from SD Card using terminal emulater.Follow this steps (I don't recommend this.Use ROM Manager inspite)
Download recovery image from here and put it on the root of the sd card and rename it to recovery.img
Open terminal and type su and grant super user access
Now type the following command,
dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p17
Click to collapse
How to boot into Recovery?
refer to this video from youtube
Now if you want to try any Cyanogenmod based ROM then this is not enough. You'll need to Download proper Radio(baseband) first. The only radio works with cyanogenmod is v10a.So now we want to Download and install it first.
Click to collapse
Basebands: (instructions in 2nd post)

Q. How to install ROM?
A. Download the ROM first and put it on the SDcard. Now boot into recovery and take Backup (It is not necessary but recommended). Now wipe data/factory reset and then select install zip from sd card and select downloaded zip file.If you're switching to CM based ROMs then also flash radio v10a as mentioned.
Q. How can i avoid Hard Bricking?
A. Though we have Emergency mode present on our device,we can flash stock ROM via it and avoid Bricking but Hard Brick is superior to it and Hard bricked devices can't be restored. So read below carefully...
Mostly hard brick occurs while flashing stock firmware via KDZ Flasher. So be careful while playing with KDZ Flasher.Read all instructions before touching KDZ Flasher and stay away from data cable while flashing it.
Some peoples on the other forum has also reported that Swapper2 program from the market also kills our bootloader and bricks it.So don't install it.(solution below)
Avoid flashing random zips files by reading that it will improve performance, games will be smoother blah blah blah...
If you want to check that any zip will harm my device or not, then open that zip file and go to META-INF>com>google>android and open updater-script and read for its mount points.(they'll be in form of mount("file_system","type","partition","mount_point") same for format()).If you find that any partition is written different than ours,DON'T FLASH IT.Partitions for our device is listed below
/dev/block/mmcblk0p15 /system
/dev/block/mmcblk0p16 /data
/dev/block/mmcblk0p18 /cache
/dev/block/mmcblk0p20 /lgdrm
/dev/block/mmcblk0p21 /multimedia
/dev/block/vold/179:33 /mnt/sdcard
/dev/block/vold/179:33 /mnt/secure/asec
and additionally,
baseband on /dev/block/mmcblk0p11
kernel on /dev/block/mmcblk0p7
recovery on /dev/block/mmcblk0p17

Q. How to go back to Stock ROM?
A. Be careful in this operation.Any mistake will give you hard bricked device.Read carefully...
Make sure that you've installed drivers properly.
Download KDZ Flasher
Extract it and install msxml.msi
Now download kdz file for your device. This can be done in two ways...
Insert your IMEI no in xxxx and put link on your browser
Code:
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=[B]xxxx[/B]
Click to collapse
Download kdz file for your country from here
Now turn on USB Debugging on your device.
Open KDZ_FW_UPD.exe and select 3GQTC in type and DIAG in PhoneMode and select downloaded kdz file and press Launch Software update.
After launching software update, device will be rebooted automatically so don't remove cable untill device is rebooted.Once it is rebooted remove battery after seeing LG logo and insert it back and Hard reset it by following method.
Q. I've bricked my device, I can't do anything and can't go to recovery.What should i do?
A. First make sure that your device is bricked, not hard bricked. To do so, remove battery and reinsert it after 1 minute and hold power menu.If LG logo appears then its soft brick and can be solved by flashing official KDZ.If nothing happens (no leds blinking) then its a hard brick, only LG can recover your device.
If you have soft brick then hold VOLUP+VOLDOWN and hold POWER untill you get a yellow screen saying EMERGENCY MODE.
Now connect it to PC and flash kdz file using above method.
Q. I accidently installed swapper2 and Hard Bricked my device. What should i do?
A. shutt1e @ cyanogenmod forum has founded the solution.Read here Hard Brick - To Hell And Back - Guide To Recovery

Possibly for some but the risk of soft bricking is high as you have no script support, and still have a secure kernel. The main issue would be you would have to manual copy files and change stuff, then remember to undo it if you accept an ota update.
Read the updater script in the flash able mod - but personally I'd just unlock. What is holding you back?

Why are you worried? Life is about risks. In this case if you won't risk your warrantee then you cant benefit from the mods. What are the chances of the transformer breaking under normal use on it's own? There's not a lot you can do if you root - a few build.prop tweaks maybe not much else.

Hi there, we all know that our i9500 comes with a 16GB flash chip. However since samsung squeezed in too much bloatware we have only 8.9GB available.
Now we have an official method by Samsung to expand it to be 11.8GB available to the user.
Before proceeding please know that this will erase all your data including your internal storage, so please make a backup first.
And this method works for me as well as many of my friends, however I do not guarantee success and I do not hold any responsibility if your phone bricks,or your dog doesn't like it or whatever problem you may encounter.
We do this by flashing via Odin a Chinese base firmware kit including kernel, radio, rom ,csc, pit and etc. The "pit" file is a partition table file which contains partition information, so the flash chip will be re-partitioned and thus gives us more user space.
The change starts from Chinese ME5 firmware but I would not recommend ME5 version since the bootloader is locked in some sense and will cause some random problems.
I don't recommend MG9 either since the modem gives problem.
So MG1 is our choice.
I9500ZCUCMG1
You can download it from here:
Let me know if you suffer from slow connection, I can try to make a mirror.
http://pan.baidu.com/share/link?shareid=534429689&uk=2250796553
Update I have made a mirror, I included everything except the 2G system img file(due to my internet speed, and the fact that I can't find a free file hosting site for 1.3G file), which you can download easily from sammobile.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/i9500zcucmg1/files/I9500_ZCUCMG1_NoPDA.zip/download
Now unzip the file and you get these:

These files are to be flashed into your I9500 via Odin in Download mode. The adonis_C.pit file is the partition information file that does the magic. However please don't flash it alone. Repartitioning will erase everything including data, system , internal storage and etc, so if you flash pit alone, your phone won't boot because there is nothing to boot.
I assume you know how to use Odin, so please enter download mode on your I9500, connect it to Odin, and select in Odin the files according to this picture and then press start.
Wait for a few minutes and you're good to go! Check if the phone boots and if you get larger storage. If everything is good, you can then flash a custom recovery via Odin, and then flash whatever custom ROM you want.
I believe this will not cause compatibility problems with international ROM since I have flashed WanamLite, Crash, Arrow Rom and got no problems at all. But anyway keep in mind I do not hold any responsibility if your phone bricks,or your dog doesn't like it or whatever problem you may encounter.
Any Q&A please read post #3, I'll keep updating feedbacks from others.

Q: I can't flash official ROMs now, what's wrong?
A: That is a known effect, due to the smaller partition size, only C version Chinese official ROMs will fit in. You will not be able to install B version offcial ROMs via Odin anymore. See Post #11 for details.
However custom ROM are not affected, flashing WanamLite, Arrow, Crush, Omega via custom recovery is tested and working perfectly.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=45214497&postcount=11
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Can I flash only the pit file and then custom recovery, and then a custom ROM, i.e. skipping bootloader, modem, and system?
A: well, supposedly it should work, however I have not tried it. Others tried and reported success. See post#38 Thanks for the feedback @Faye Reagan
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=45237267&postcount=38
What I can confirm is that modem doesn't matter at all, I have flashed tons of modem and there is no single conflict(except for the MG9 fiasco). So you can surely skip the modem if you wish.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Will doing this change my Phone model and thus affect warranty?
A: Yes So please be sure you know what you're doing before proceeding.
My guess is that the changing phone model has something to do with the bootloader included, so you may skip the bootloader and keep your own one if you feel more comfortable that way, again I do not know what is the effect of this. Anyway according to post#38 this should be safe.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Can I revert to 8.9G data partition?
A: Yes, as reported by @AL_IRAQI in Post #66
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=45250600&postcount=66
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Does it break dual boot?
A: Yes. The system partition is too small for 2 systems. See Post #52
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=45245945&postcount=52
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q:will this work for I9505?
A: No. While I do believe same magic will be there for i9505 sonner or later, this is for now for I9500 ONLY.

Hi. Thanks for this info. Would love the extra space. Just a couple of quick questions.
Will it revert the phone back to stock fully??
Will it be possible to root and install custom roms later on?
And lastly does it effect the possibility to unroot and revert to official status if the phone is required to he returned for repairs??
Thanks in advance!!

1 , Yes your phone will be completely stock , which means you lose anything stored in your phone so please do make backup.
2, You can flash a custom recovery and do whatever you want after the process. As I mentioned I don't encounter any compatibility issues despite the Chinese base; but there is no guarantee.
3, Afaik there is no way to reset the binary counter in your S4 so by right warranty is lose if you flash a custom firmware and there's no way to revert.

I have not tried and I would not recommend doing that. The kit comes together with a reason I believe...
Anyway I suppose it doesn't save you that much time, the flashing process is rather fast.
But if you're brave enough you can try.

Yes it's still shown as official, but your product name will become i9500CHN which means doing so totally converts your phone into a Chinese model. You can revert to your country model if you have the KIT for your country.
My guess is the change of product model is due to bootloader. So maybe you can try to skip flashing the bootloader and see what happens... Again do it at your own risk...

Only chinese C verson ROMs can be flashed via ODIN into 11.8GB available space devices, others version you will get a red FAILED on ODIN.
3 ways can solved this:
1. By flashed a third-party custom roms in recovery like Omega.
2. Flash C version ROMs via ODIN. (zcuCmh1 zcuCmg1).
3. You can modify stock img file and make it flashable for 11.8GB available space devices.
I did a third way and I made it..

The 5 file kit is quite a different story from normal fw files, they are not often released. I only have a few Hongkong and Chinese versions of the kit. That's why I suggested you to try to keep your bootloader and see what happens...
