[Q] How to get contacts to display HD image - HTC One S

My HTC One S contacts photos are not HD. I have added HD ones in gmail / contacts but they don't display HD on the phone.
I have tried a lot of contact manager apps also and haven't found a solution I liked. Any ideas on how to display high def photos in contacts?

If I remember correctly Gmail downgrades the quality of contact images, if you want higher quality photos for your contacts try linking Facebook with your phonebook. It works well for me

Thats because they are synced from Google, which doesnt save the photos in HD i think...had the same issue. I think you only can have them in HD if you save the HD pics in your phone and link them to your contacts. That was my solution...

Agree, I found out the same. The problem is that if I export the contacts with the built-in option (not via gmail) the same issue applies: i.e. when i restore the backup the images are blurry and ugly.

Sync bigger pics through facebook?

So the facebook-app can sync the profile pictures of all my friends which is all neat and stuff, but it only saves the thumbnail - this looks horrible when i call people when using ICS (since the picture covers most of the screen).
Is there any mod to that app, or some other app that can sync the fullsize profile picture of my friends from facebook?
(no, manually editing the pictures through google contacts is not an option since i want the pictures to update whenever my friends change their profile pic)
I would need something like that too.
There are apps like HD caller ID, but there you must add a picture for everyone manually.

Try Facebook contact sync
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ro.weednet.contactssync
It worked great for me, the blurry pictures on ICS were really getting to me
You could also use haxsync. Available in the market.

HaxSync is only for ICS, and Facebook contacts sync didn't work for me.
Oh god thank you guys! GOODBYE PIXELBLUR CONTACTS!
Thanks for this!

I used fsync, download from market
it can sync different sizes of the pictures, and you can choose to sync only contacts or all facebook friends
works great

[FIXED] HaxSync (for FB contacts) not working

So, as you all know, FB can't sync its contacts with your phone from ICS to JB, and there's been lots of hacks/apps to allow this. Back when ICS was barely released, HaxSync was one of the only working apps, and also produced high quality pics.
Fast forward to today, I can't use HaxSync to sync FB contacts, only to sync my Calender. Is this because HTC Sense already implements FB sync? Or is there another reason why it doesn't work? Will provide screenshots if it helps.
Also, reason I want HaxSync instead of the Sense FB sync is because HS produces very high reso pics, Sense produces some very pixelated images, which are made worse by the 720p display.
Any help is appreciated and thanked!
Nvm, fixed it. Had to freeze "Facebook for HTC Sense". Seems this part of Sense kept interfering with allowing HaxSync download/sync my contacts.
Used Titanium Backup Pro in case anyone was wondering.
Does this allow you to have high res contact pictures when receiving phone calls?
Also, does HS sync your fb profile pics everywhere in the phone? Ie, messaging app, contacts, etc.

No high res yet, there's a compatibility issue with sense.
But yes, they show up everywhere, including apps that aren't Sense based, like Go SMS or Ex Dialer. This is the main reason I use HS, because if you sync the contacts directly through Facebook, they only show up in Sense apps.

Linked contacts have blurry/distorted pictures

When I link my contacts to their Facebook account, their pictures appear to be extremely blurry and distorted. Is there a fix for this?
That's a limitation of ICS. A good workaround is to install haxsync from the market. It will download hi res pictures but may require some manual linking.

It's not an ics limitation but a google contacts one instead. Google contacts saves low res versions of contacts photos. Googles solution is to sync contact pictures through google plus.I think that's bogus. What I do is use hd contacts. Once you have high res pictures of all contacts set up through the program, its easy to reapply them to contacts after flashing.

Instant cr*ppy profile picture quality

I've got a strange problem on my Viper 2.2.0. I know that the pixeled profile picture issue is known and I found a lot about this but many users say that this is fixed by Google and if you have problems anyway you can try tools like Hax Sync or Sync me e.g. None of this tools have any effect to the quality of the images. I've also tried turning Google contact sync off and than change a profile pic but this doesn't work either. Also if I choose a picture from my own (!!!) gallery or take a snapshot the quality is instantly crap. Without any sync. So it must be a issue with my handset!?
Does anybody know a working fix? Likely one to use profile pictures from Facebook (like hax sync should do)!

Clear Data for Apps "Contact Storage" and "People" did the trick for me. But be careful you have a backup or a up to date sync with Google because all your contacts are going to be deleted!!

[Q] HD contact photos

Hi guys,
What is the best way to set HD photos for contacts?
Contacts are stored on my gmail account, I have not sync them with facebook or any other service and I am not planning to do it.
Every time after flashing the rom pictures are blurry. I believe Google saves them in lower resolution.
Is there any trick to have them always in HD?

I would like to know this too. I am a Google apps user and the contacts images once synced to Google go blurry.
This died not happen with regular Google account only Google apps for domains.
Any suggestions?
This has bugged me for a while but I realized they are actually HD.
What I do is open the people app and click the pic, after a few seconds it'll change to higher resolution and stay that way until you flash a new rom

Nope, nothing changes here. They are still blurry.
But, thank you.

I know you said you didn't want to sync with Facebook but the most foolproof way is to use Haxsync. You can then go into the Haxsync settings and set it to sync with your Google account. They all show up in full resolution afterwards...
