Hey, I just have a quick Question, I'm using Jellybam Rom and im getting a score of 4.788 on (Quadrant Standard) benchmark (without any overclock), i tried AOKP 4.2 rom with the overclocked 1.8 last night but im just getting 4.3 - 4.5 score, i just dont understand how a none overclocked rom is giving me a better score than an Overclocked 1.8 Rom. I will appreciate any suggestion.

Benchmarks don't necessarily mean anything.. and it certainly does not mean that the overclocked kernel is LESS powerful than the non overclocked kernel. Don't pay too much attention to benchmark numbers man.

Got you , but what would be a good way to notice the difference on performance?

Benchmarks means nothing... Real world usage is what matters.
I get like 4k in quadrant with CM10, but its a hell a lot faster in the real world than stock ICS 4.0.4 (which scored little over 9k).

No prob.
But then, i agree with the thought that benchmarks mean nothing and what's more important is the real life usage because even though JB produces higher benchmark in both quadrant and antutu, in real life, the stock ICS feels so much smoother and stable.

Has anyone attempted to or successfully overclocked their G2X yet? I'm doubtful that anyone has, but if you did please share your experience here as I'm very curious!

As far as I know - to overclock we need a custom kernel that supports it... so I doubt anyone did it already
I have been using an app from the market called speed boost from the market that requires root. It seems to actually increase the processor speed in small increments. It does have to be redone on every boot. Stock quadrant 2500's and with the app 2700's, its not much but still an answer to the initial question.

Hmmm I looked into it a bit and it seems like the only way you can do it on the Optimus 2X is to use a custom kernel (I believe it was the EternityProject Kernel). Hopefully they bring it over to the G2X soon!
ok I got from optimus 2x forum.
Overclock 1.3Ghz -1.4Ghz

Do not install a kernel from the O2x. However, I believe someone had an overclock module (part of the kernel) that *should* be safe. Obviously be very confident in your backup/recovery capabilities before trying anything.
The Xoom running the same chipset has been overclocked to 1.5ghz. No one overclocked the g2x yet but surely that won't be too far off in the distance.

Patience dear baldwingguy. We just got root a few days ago, and just got a test version of a custom recovery last night ! Once that is all good, you'll start to see custom kernels and ROMs with overclocking capabilities. Also, enjoy the speed it comes with for a bit before wanting more gigahertz so soon !!!

ok i know all the basics for the most part. but im curious what is the fastest stable rom and if it uses a kernal to become faster? more so to see the quadrant scores to go up also. So pretty much i am looking for a faster rom, and kernal if need be.
i did MikG 1.6 and with all the big things on it i know it wont be fast. i barely hit 1000 on quadrant scores
OK, CM7 with PershootV8... Its a sick set up... It wait a couple days dread said in the general section that he might have something for us... I highly recommend checking that out

Not sure if it helped the speed. Might be stock. But anyway. I ran the quadrant and got 1390, 1524 and 1525
i did the CM7 with V8 and i hit up to 2100-2300 on my quadrant score i was rather shocked considering on stock i was lucky to have 980-1050

damn thats high.... im running Cyclonic right now that has V8 in it already and it pushed to about 2155 on first test then 2095 2nd test and 3rd test 2497. so it jumps around alot. but going from barely touching 1000 on stock and then 1000-1400 on MikG, this is like steroids for my phone
Any aosp Rome are going to be faster than sense roms. Cyclonic ocd to 2 gigs I hit 2800-2900 quad scores. Miui using scaryghouls stable #27 ocd to 1.7 I hit 3000+ everytime.

What was your score before you modded it? Compare your new high score to that and you will know if improvement was accomplished.
That's the problem....this necessarily isn't true and is why real world results are preferred

It may not be 100% accurate, but flashing between stock and oc kernel, my score went up 800 points. I Berlins it can be used as a rough measuring tool.
Antutu and cf bench are fairly consistant. Typically they match real world results but sometimes.they are just way off. Using the coca-cola Tom now and it's quick with great battery life but scores extremely low

Over 7,000 is a good score. I get around 6,000 on a stock-ish kernel (not OC'd).
Please don't take offense at some of the responses, it's just that too many people put too much emphasis on benchmark scores when the scores really don't take into account everything that impacts the performance of your phone.
I've had phones with crappy performance and high benchmarks and vice versa. Benchmark scores are good for comparing different roms as a base point, but the only thing that really matters is how it performs for you.
Well I'm just curious (as I'm sure many others are) what kind of qualitative results folks are seeing.
Personally it seems zippier, and lets face it it just more fun having a real ICS ROM vs a ICS lok-alike.
Don't get me wrong, we have some excellent devs who work tirelessly to squeeze our 'Rockets for all they can get me(and I'm sure we'll see some AMAZING ICS-build ROMS sooner rather than later.) I thought this would be a good starting/reference point for us to look back upon...

Not overclocked at all. Going through older screenshots and I have a 6607 on GB stock as well. I've hit 7334 when OC (sry, included wrong screenshot for that one).
I got 6190 on the new ICS Rom. My scores were lower compared to Pixelens until the IO performance. My numbers were significantly better for DB, read and write.
6315 AnTuTu on stock ICS. Only ran it twice and that was the second score.
The phone is definitely more responsive vs. Gingerbread though.
I'm thinking they redid the kernel to be more like an interactive governor.
More emphasis on the user experience, and less emphasis on the background processing.

Yeah, benchmarks don't mean anything to me. If it runs fast, doesn't lag, and transitions are smooth, etc...I could care less about a benchmark number and they differ so much from one run to another anyways. Pshh, who cares
Here is mine. I only ran the benchmark twice.
Me usins creed's rom 3.5 and no other app as chainfire or tweak is being used
oc'd to 729 userspace , i/o cfq
tried many combinations still same result even without oc plz tell me what should i do
Try older version of quadrant standard. searchit on google.
Quadrants don't matter...
One rom could have a phenomenal score, and yet be unfit for daily use...while something could have as low as 800, and yet outshine a good number of roms...

He's got the point man..
dont take too seriously about benchmark score...
because the most important of the ROM itself is the stability and performance for daily used....
and every ROM has different system and performance which makes the score different for every user...
