i have bought this cell http://www.ebay.in/itm/321066074190?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 so please can you tell me the difference between this thread AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL and the other htc one x thread? and kindly tell me where i belong 2.. thanks
You are in the correct place since the phone has att all over the listing and on the screen itself. Do some serious reading on xda if you are even considering tinkering.

The item description says AT&T, so this is the right place. This forum is specific to the dual core Snapdragon version of the One X (known in most places as the XL), code named EVITA. The "other" One X forum is for the quad core Tegra3 version, code named ENDEAVORU.
thanks

Because it is the One XL, AT&T renamed it the One X, which is confusing because the int'l One X isn't the same thing, well, mostly is.
To distinguish it from the One X Tegra 3 international version.
Officially I think the One XL stands for the One X LTE, which is the AT&T version.
AT & T didn't rename it; it's only called the One X on Rogers, too.
It's because other countries where the LTE model is available also have have the non-LTE model available, so they need two separate names to differentiate them. In Canada and the USA, only the LTE model is available, so calling it the XL is unnecessary.
I see...dont you hate it when people call "LTE" Lite? I seriously have had people say that. Anyway, glad to sit here and pass the time with you all. I cant wait to get my "HTC One X LITE"....
The S4 One X is technically called the One XL, probably LTE as someone said previously.
It was renamed by ATT/Rogers.
Hello. I recently purchased an HTC one X. It has AT&T and I was wondering why there are two different HTC one X forums. I am also double checking that this is the correct for for me to look for instructions to root my phone. Thanks in advance for the help.

its really not that confusing.
there are essentially 2 different One X's
INTERNATIONAL VERSION which has QUAD CORE
LTE VERSION (at&t, Rogers, Telstra, etc) which has a DUAL CORE
COMPLETELY different phones....
if your phone says AT&T up by the earpiece, you are in the right forum. check the stickies in these very forums....
I got my phone the day it came out and have been wondering for a while if its the ONE X or ONE XL whats the diff? I know the international version has a diff processor but as for phone state side?
The XL is the AT&T version.. the L differentiating the fact it has LTE whereas the international one x does not

I far as I know you cannot tell the difference between the two by looking at them except by the lable it wears. If it says att at the top its definantly the one xl. If it says HTC its probably the one x. Otherwise just go into settings/about/phone identity/model number. It tells you right there what it is.

Other countries got the One X with the S4 processor, so if it doesn't say AT&T doesn't mean it's a Tegra version.

The ARMv7 CPU architecture is used in both Tegra3 (international version) as well as Snapdragon (AT&T, Rogers, etc.) SOCs (system on a chip). So that doesn't really tell you anything.
Is ARMv7 what is says under Settings>About>Hardware information? Mine says "dual core" (which would be right for Snapdragon). Quad core would mean Tegra3.
Did you purchase your One X from AT&T? If so, its the Snapdragon dual core version.

Yes that is all it says under hardware info kind of strange but thanks for the info i Purchased mine from ATT online and got it 3 days before release lol so im pretty sure its the snapdragon which when it comes to roms the original roms will work on here as well?
If its branded AT&T, than its the Snapdragon version. Likewise, if it has LTE, its the Snapdragon version.
Yes, any of the ROMs in the 2 Development sections of the AT&T forum section will work fine.
I just received the HOX as a Christmas gift coming from the HTC sensation I know my way around the phone, I'm just curious if their are any specific things about this phone that are different and new in terms of functionality and hidden surprises? Happy holidays my fellow one x users!

One very important thing first. Please make sure you are aware if your phone is S4 (dual core, aka one xl) or Tegra 3 (quad core) before flashing anything. S4 is att/rogers/telstra (basically the forum you are in). Tegra 3 is the international version.
In the past, Canadians had what were referred to as international phones (gsm), but not with the one xl.
If you look around you will see that flashing the wrong firmware has been a serious problem.
Enjoy!

Att is gsm
I like the idea of a sim card. Down with Verizon! Lol
Kenny, if you flash anything for the other phone, there is a chance yours will never work again. Don't be a victim

Yes, I know. I was just saying that a with a lot of other phones gsm is considered an international phone.
For example, TMo had the G2, which was cdma, and the Desire Z was the "international" (gsm) model. So in the past, HTC has a history of just the two variants being categorized that way.

Hmm... As for hidden suprises, not knowing if your phone is the dual or quad core will really mess you up (as said above) lol.
The keyboard is kinda cool since you can swipe with it. That was new to me. It's also suprising how fast the phone is once you put jellybean sense on it.
Gotta use twrp instead of cwm.
Screen is kinda easy to break so don't drop your phone.

Concidering quad cores aren't supported on Canadas network, I know I have the duel core model, plus it says it on the box , as for the screen break, I really gotta go get me a case soon lol

As far as tips and tricks.
If you love Sense try VenomXL
If you love AOSP try JellyBam.
Those are the best tricked out roms with awesome performance.

I think you are getting some things mixed up. Tmobile's network has never, ever been CDMA. The major CDMA carriers in the US are Verizon and Sprint.
The G2 had WCDMA, which is in reference to it's data and not the voice network. WCDMA is also known as UMTS and is found on many GSM phones.
Point being, GSM does not suggest that the phone is international by any means. Also, the TMo G2 had a SIM card (of course, this was because it was a GSM phone).
G2 = GSM phone = US Version
Desire Z = GSM phone = International Version
Oh, also to clear up any other confusion, the HTC One XL on ATT/Rogers/Telstra as well as the international One X are all also GSM and all have SIM cards.

Ah, you are right. Thanks for clarifying. Sorry for the misinformation. My bad.
Edit: just deleted all that because I can summarize it in one or two sentences.
Some people have the misconception that gsm and international are interchangeable. I was only trying to address that, esp. Because its been a blurry issue for some Canadian users.

If his phone says "AT&T" at the top of the screen... It's the HTC One XL. Dual core is At&T us version. Quad-core is international...

There's not much to be jelly about except the storage amount
More storage would be awesome though... I can only keep two or three backups with 16gb, because they're like 1-2 gb themselves... Anyway, to the OP, Otterbox is a great case, and CM10 is an awesome ROM.

But really, how many backups do you need on your device at any given time. 1, 2 maybe.

one piece of advice, flash a jellybean rom as soon as possible, it kicks ICS's butt.
Do not upgrade to software 2.20. If you have AT&T and your software number is 1.85, stay there! This was my first mistake and now I have to flash boot.imgs manually.
i have htc one xl and want to use custom rom. How to root/unlock? It same htc one x?
Need more information. For any variant of the XL besides the US AT&T version, then yes its pretty similar to the quad core "international" One X: Unlock bootloader via HTCDev.com, install custom recovery, and flash ROMs.
Things to keep in mind: One big difference from the quad core One is that Clockworkmod is not recommended as a custom recovery for the dual core XL. Its just a hacked port, and has some serious issues. TWRP is the recommended recovery.
Also keep in mind the the dual core/LTE enabled XL is completely different hardware from the quad core One X. Only flash ROMs explicitly intended for the dual core version.
Everything you need is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671237
If you have the AT&T version (which I'm guessing you don't since you refer to the XL, not One X), its a whole different ballgame. So let us know if you have the AT&T version.
Also, if you currently have Jelly Bean on the phone, and was updated via OTA, then you may have problems with custom recovery and/or flashing ROMs (getting the touch screen to work). So again, we really need more info on your current device to answer your question properly.

Forgive me, but my research has led me to believe that the One XL IS the AT&T version, with the L standing for LTE, though AT&T call's it the "One X" because that is the only variant that they sell. The Tegra 3 processor in the international version of the One X is not compatible with LTE, so the AT&T version uses the dual-core Qualcom MSM8960 CPU.
Please please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that this info is correct.

The AT&T One X is the One XL. AT&T just wanted to take advantage of the unified branding, since the One X had already been released to much fanfare. What he means is that there are other carriers outside the US using the same phone but calling it (correctly) the One XL.
thankyou every body i read from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671237 now i can use custom rom already

Yes, the AT&T One X is the same hardware as what other carriers are calling the One XL. Meaning dual core Snapdragon with LTE support.
That wasn't what I was talking about. I never said the hardware was different.
What is different is the root/bootloader unlock process for the AT&T version. Its not hardware driven, its carrier (AT&T specifically) driven. AT&T has instructed HTC to prohibit the bootloader unlock within HTCDev.com for the AT&T carrier ID (CID). Therefore, the bootloader unlock process for AT&T (and AT&T only) is:
Temp root or perm root (depending on firmware version)>spoof CID>unlock bootloader via HTCDev.com>install custom recovery>perm root (if needed)
AT&T is the only carrier in the world to do this on this device. Again, since you referred to the One XL, I assume you don't have the AT&T version, so I didn't bother to go into the level of detail. But you still haven't said what carrier version you have, so we really don't know for certain.
