can anyone recommend application similar to PuTTY in windows ?
preferably free version
AW: puTTY for Android ?
Check the App: ConnecBot
You can find in google play store
Also recommended to use the connectbot is the "hackers keyboard"
Sent from my GT-N8010 using xda app-developers app
I would also recommend terminal emulator and "ssh [email protected]"
I use AirTerm. It can install KBOX so you can have a functional Busybox on a non rooted system as well.

Anyone knows how could i get access to my exernal proxy server from my Android device?
Actually i'm able to get access from my windows computer, to my proxy via tunnel, using putty and it works.
Because in putty im able to set the company proxy to access the internet.
In connectbot or sshtunnel android apps, there is no way to set the proxy (company for example) to access the internet
and the application don't access to the address of my ssh server (ip address:443) due to restictions.
now my device is connected via wifi (with a shared connection) and of course i'm connected to the network with all the restrictions of the case.
Anyone have a solution ?
I hope is it clear
Thanks alot...
Its quite complicate,
you need a local proxy on android like plink for windows. If it works with plink on windows try ssh on android instead. use the same syntax.
someting like "ssh -L your.tunnel.url 80:localhoste:443"

We have a proxy server running in our institute which requires authentication. While I can run my browser in the emulator after providing the proxy settings, I cannot run any other application which requires internet connection. I am developing an app. and I would like to know if there is a way to provide proxy settings ( for my app, or all apps ) so that I can get google maps working. I know that there was a bug, but is that fixed by now or is there some hack which tries to overcome that problem? It would be of great help even if I can get a local solution i.e access google maps from my app, not necessary that all apps which require an internet connection run.
You could try running the adb emulator with the -http-proxy option in case you are not doing this already. Otherwise, you could look for proxy settings within the emulator. Best way, though, is probably to use an actual device as the emulator can sometimes be buggy + it's definitely slow.
i have tried with the command line options but it didn't work, i don't hv an android phone so the second options not there for me. As already mentioned I had set the proxy settings in the emulator but that's not working with maps etc. Only browser works...Any help will greatly be appreciated.

Don't bother with the Android app if you just need it temporary (Certainly don't bother with the windows client).
If you download the Windows Client exe you can open it with 7zip and get the openvpn config files (Attached to this post).
Which you can then use with :
https://proxpn.org/createaccount.php
And then just fill in the required items.
It says allot about the company that they don't even use a different certificate and key for each user.
(Or provide L2TP)
For 7$ a month you can get a really good VPS in the US.
(See lowendbox.com)
Then just set it up yourself. (Anything you want L2TP/IPSEC / Openvpn or PPTP).
You can find a tutorial to set this up for pretty much any Linux distro. (In a better manner than the god awful way they configure this).
hello my brother is in armenia and there is some problem with his phone which he can't sort out how to fix.. newbie to android..
i want to know is there any remote vncserver app available paid/free does'nt matter which can do the job all i have come accross were just in network vnc servers.. :crying:
bumo
Since you didn't get any responses on this, I recommend our app, VMLite VNC Server, available from google store. It's a paid one, but definitely the best vnc server available for Android devices.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vmlite.vncserver&hl=en
If he has a Samsung phone you can use teamviewer quick support from the playstore.
After launching the app on phone you can connect through pc.

Does anyone know how to get generic VPN support on Android TV? There are lots of VPN apps that connect to 3rd party services. But I want to connect to my home VPN Router when on the road.
I have done it with OpenVPN which required setting up a separate OpenVPN server. But I would prefer to use L2TP/IPSEC.
Android on a phone has support for a generic L2TP VPN. Is there a way to get this working within Android TV? i.e. did they just leave it out of the UI?
Specifically, I am using a MiBox S with Android 9 Beta...
Thanks
I have the same question. Did you find any solution or does someone know how to do this?
Still no L2TP VPN app that can be used on Google TV?
I need PPTP option to connect my remote server vpn service
How can I do that? That option missing in my uptodate poco x3 pro phone
edit :
I have found a solution and prepared a tutorial guide video. Here link
If it's your remote Server it's recommended to switch to OpenVPN or Wireguard.
Wireguard works pretty well on Android, and also quite easy to setup in WG-easy docker if the root System supports it.
Still needs an additional vpn app....
