[Q] SD Card help - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

As you all know, you cant mount or unmount an SD Card on the HTC One X, so then i downloaded this battery saving app and i accidentally clicked unmount SD, and now, all my data on my SD Card is all gone can someone please help me find a solution??? Thank you!

Well you'll probly have to format the sd on a pc in windows to get it remounted

try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1942519

Just go into Settings > Storage and scroll to the bottom. There should be an option to remount the SD card. Or just reboot the phone. Nothing to worry about. :good:

remove the card from the phone first. reboot. put the card back in. go and delete all the partitions on your card using your partition program. Recreate the FAT32 and EXT2 partitions.
sd card wont mount/g1 wont....
Maybe the g1 has a headache!
Keep an eye on the sdcard by going to menu.settings.sdcard... that should tell you the status. Re-boot usually gets rid of all my problems if my phone does not read my card for watever reason.

Its been a while since I fooled around with the sdcard and usb... but... I do remember installing some drivers for something or another (let me see what it was and if it is related some how... ) ill get back to you....
ok.thanx.do you mean the adb interface drivers??because i have that installed
try turning on USB debugging
yea, I'm having the same problem. The phone wont read the fat32 partition but it'll read the ext2. Trying to fix it tonight though.
If you are using ubuntu partition editor that will happen.. happened to me a good amount of times. Try formating it on a windows machine as a Fat32 and replug it on linux and it should work. That's what worked for me... took a couple of attempts... good luck!
hope you had backup your sd card
well i got my card working again.i think something went wrong when i partioned it and maybe it had something to do with the theme.i put the dreaimg.nbh and the update folder and luckily the phone read it.so it put me back to jf 1.30 rc30.so then i went back and updated.but as soon as the theme got erased everything went back to normal
Try this if you have windows, it worked for me, finally.
Use disk management:
Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management
In Computer Management, click "Disk Management" on the left which is under "Storage." In the lower portion on the right, you should see a list of all the volumes. Right-click on the one you want to format and click "Format"
If it is a removeable drive you want to format, use "Removable Storage" under "Storage" instead of "Disk Management."
Click to collapse
Thanks to: http://www.hardwareanalysis.com/content/topic/44545/
Yeah, even paragon partition manager was reading it wrong, but windows disk management was able to format it back to fat32 without any problem.

I installed this driver today to do the custom splash screen. And now, my computer does not recognize the phone as a USB storage device.
When I plug in the phone, I get the "mount/don't mount" option. I chose mount. When I go into My Computer, the phones MicroSD card isn't there?
Any ideas?
I just uninstalled the driver and it works fine again.

"path is too deep to copy files"

well i formatted my SD card because i had to partition it, so i backed up all the contents on my SD to my computer.
the partitioning went well, but now i have a blank SD card. and whenever i try to copy back the stuff from my computer to the SD card, i get some weird error like "the path is too deep to copy the file" or something along those lines.
i tried it thrice, but each time it failed. i don't have a card reader, so i was copying using the standard USB wire.
any suggestions as to what i should do?
I had this once go to my computer then right click your sd card then click on properties then click on hardware then click on ST340015A (may be different but it's should be close) then click on properties then click policies and the bit where it says enable write cache if it's a tick then untick it and restart if there is no tick then tick it and restart. Hope it works for you.

Pull down the notification bar.press the mass mount storage.and then press connect.Hope it will solve your promblem.Or just go and buy a SD Card reader.it happens when partitioned your SD card.
Its an effect of sd partitioning...
Copy files in small amounts like 5 folders at a time...
I have this problem whenever I flash a custom kernel, now I use dual mount sd widget I don't face any such problem...

[FIX][CWM] Error: Unable to mount SDCARD in CWM (and CF-ROOT)

Hi people!
I have seen many people have a problem with the above mentioned error in CWM. Although there are any threads on the topic, none of them are really clear (and often speculate) the method to fix it. And there is a lot of confusion regarding the "sdcard" in the i9003. This is my attempt to clarify and provide a reasonable fix (which worked for my Class 10, 16GB Micro SD (SDHC)).
It goes like this:
-> Boot into CWM recovery
-> Choose any options pertaining to the external sd card (such as backup, restore or install file from .zip)
-> The command returns with an error about how it can't mount "sdcard".
Now, there are a few thing that you have to be mindful of:
1) The "sdcard" mentioned in CWM for the i9003 is actually the external sd card.
- It is done this way so that everything works with the external sd and not with the internal 2GB sd that is present on our phone.
2) The internal sd is referred to as "sd-ext".
3) This pertains to the CWM of our phone. After booting into Android, it is back to "normal".
I tried to do a format in Windows 7's default formatting tool with FAT32, exFAT and NTFS (just eliminate the possibilities) with "default allocation size". It didn't work. Even choosing a larger allocation size did not work.
The Fix:
-> The optimal recommended filesystem for an android SD Card is FAT32.
-> Using the "SD Formatter" (version 3.1 as of this writing) from the SD Association ended up solving my problems.
-> The download link, for Windows (A MAC version is also available), from their site is here. You have to click "I Accept" and accept the terms of the EULA (but who really reads those things anyway ) ?
-> Use a card reader (using your phone is not recommended), make sure you have selected the right card and that you have backed-up all the data on your card (incase you didn't know - formatting erases all your data!).
-> I chose "Quick format" under options and made sure "Format Size Adjustment" was off (These are available under "options").
-> It's done in a few minutes, and it works GREAT! :-D
Cheers people! Hope this clears up some stuff!
This thread deserves to be made a sticky thread...

Btw - nice job dude you explained it all very well!
Tapashocked via my gt-I9003 with a random keyboard of my choice !
Finally solution came..it works like a charm...thank you so much Bro..
I was bugged by the same problem a few moths ago....
I solved it by Going to Settings > SD card ad phone storage >SD CARD> Umount sd card > Format SD card....
@Lord: thanks mate!
@Symdroid: your welcome! Glad to have helped!
@Neojith: Yeah that usually works, but for some odd reason it didn't work for me last time.
Also, this works without fail even if your SD card is unrecognizable (or comes up as corrupt/damaged) in Android but is detected on the computer.

Man i dont hav any card reader....why cant i do this while it's inside the phone? :-(
Give it a shot... It may work (but be sure you're formatting the right card)!
I recommended a card reader as it is faster, and in most cases the card wasn't detectable by Android but was detectable using a card reader.

Got cranium ROM 3.1 and its not working on my phone. It shows the drive in the PC but i cannot access it. But the phone still reads whats on the SD card. It works well before with kPE...
kudos Erahgon, it worked!
FYI I didnt even use a card reader, used the phone itself (too lazy to search for a reader at home)
Srry guys, was outta town for a few days!
@vadexlux: Good to hear that it works from your phone as well!
@lbraddx : If it's not accessible even in Windows, your card is probably corrupted. Do a quick format in Windows, then use a data recovery software to recover your files. After that, format using the method in the first post, and remember to back-up your files.

cannot access from the phone. but when i flash with odin there is part saying 'error can't mount sdcard-skipped wipe data' but when i check the sd card from my pc its empty and i lost all my file in sd.
here another weird thing, you said the 'sdcard' in CWM is the external sd. I can't mount 'sdcard' but I can mount 'sd-ext'; when i took out my sdcard then I can't mount 'sd-ext'. so I think in my case 'sd-ext' is my sdcard. thanks for replying though. can you figure out my problem?

Flashing with ODIN? What were you flashing with ODIN? When you flash with ODIN it doesn't do anything to the external-sd card.
Have you done an internal-external sd swap? If so, and you want to flash a new firmware using ODIN, you must re-partition (i.e. Use the latona pit file) and then proceed with the flash. After the flash, you may once again swap the external and internal sd cards. I haven't tried this, so this is just my best guess. If this doesn't work, try using your old vold.fstab file (read this thread for more details).

Fascinate owner here. Had the same issue with CWM red (3.x) and Green (4.x).
All I did was reformat the card in Android. You have to unmount it in Settings > SD Card. Then simply Format. All your data will be erased but CWM will be able to read your card again.
WOW... I have THAT trouble too (on a I9100!), read this (googled) post and think.. "hmmm.... all other works fine with the ext. SD-Card... that can't be the fix..."
BUT i test the fix and OMG!... Now all CWM troubles gone! PERFECT!
Thank you very very much! I love the XDA community! *smak* ;-)
Is there any way to do the same for the internal sdcard coz my external sdcard reads fine but internal phone memory as well as internal sdcard are corrupted!
WOW

[Q] Micro SD card problem

Hello all and everyone who may be able to help me out! I recently got a new phone (galaxy nexus) and decided to root and s-off my evo 3d. After another sad fail at s-off, my sd card was acting up. When its in a phone, it will say the card is blank or it is using an unsupported file system. Upon formatting option nothing happens. When i insert the sdcard into an adapter and put it into my computer, i can navigate to my computer and when i try to get into the drive, "my computer" crashes and i have to remove the card to get back to the start screen. I can use the drive for other things but it just wont read this card and makes the computer freeze. ive tried programs and whenever i try to select the drive, again the program im using crashes. Other cards work fine so it seems the card itself is the problem. worked fine before. Can anyone help me out here?
Had a similar problem a while back seems i had forgot to remove the password before plugging the card into my pc. Not sure how that will help you here tho.
replace the card and check if it is working than the card is defected

Is your phone able to read/detect your card?
If yes then:
Go to Phone Settings> Storage Settings> Unmount SD card> Erase SD card.
Report if that works.
If it's dead, most reputable manufacturers offer a warranty on their cards. Go to their website & look up the procedure for getting an RMA. That's much cheaper than buying a new card.

When the cards in my phone, it gives a notification saying that is an unsupported file system or that it is A blank SD card. When it is in the phone it will not let me erase. when I select Format, it's just kind of stops. and if I select it again, nothing. Can't use unmount or mount as they are greyed out. I had a similar problem figuring out that moving Apps to external sd and then removing this sdcard CAN DESTROY the sdcard controller - better unmount card then remove it or switch phone off and remove it !
Even more worst - it's still working sometimes on any PC with adapter - if you have warranty on that sdcard i would replace it in the store bought !

Maybe i had luck - but since the failure i have been very carefully !
Nowadays sdcards should beeing built that writing more than 100000 times should be possible - so such an error should also not occur
but what the sdcards are very sensitive is heat - temperatures above 55 ° C (131 F) is almost a no go! (or increasing failure rate drastically !)

No when this failure appears - formatting is not possible anymore - the "controller" inside the sdcard is defect !

[Q] My Xperia E Dual Sd external problem

Hello guys I have Sony Xperia e dual (c1605 android 4.1.1). I brought 4gb micro sdhc class 4 card. When I saved musics and images there after some time some musics can't be played and images can't be shown. Also if I save unknown type files on it(java games and android games data and obb files) insted of them appears a lot of files with unknown symbol names. I cant delete them and es file explorer shows that folder size up to 400 gb. Please help me, its my phone problem or sd external card? I hope I explained my problem well.
Hello,
Well, first of all, it's probably a phone problem. Second of all, WHY BUY A CLASS 4? Man, those things are slooooooooooooooow. But I'll try to help! So:
Option 1: try to move every file on the external sd to the internal memory (if you have enough space left), power off your device. Put your sd card back in, and reboot the phone. Then try to move the files you moved earlier to the internal storage, back to the sd card. See if it works.
Option 2(requires pc): power off your device. Important! Otherwise your phone could go to an endless rage of force closes. Believe me, you don't want to have that. It's not harmful nor wil it brick your device. It's just plain annoying.
Remove the sd card, and put it in your card reader, and then into your pc. Backup the content(important!). Then go to your main folder in the computer(probably called: Computer ). Right click on the sc card symbol-> choose Properties, and then search for the tab where it says ''format''. So format it, just keep it FAT32.
Wait for it to be finished, and then move the back-upped content back to the sd. Insert sd card in powered off phone, and reboot. If this doesn't work, I would be really amazed .
Succes, and have a nice day!
Hope I helped!
