Hopefully final build will still have option to use GameKeyboard, then we can use just like in RR2 .

Real Racing 2 never had XP controls while simultaneously released EA titles at that time were XPO. Not to mention the laggy nature of RR2 on the Xperia PLAY probably because it was developed by Firemint. However, EA's last racing title, NFS Most Wanted, proved that mobile racing game on the Xperia PLAY is not yet to die, in a short matter of time, that is.
Because of that, and because as I have seen on that dev diary, RR3 seems to have been developed by Firemonkeys (which also developed NFSMW2012), I AM DEFINITELY CROSSING MY FINGERS!
PS, I once bought RR2 for $0.99 during a sale. After a while I uninstalled it but when I thought of playing it again, it just disappeared from my apps list and checking through Google Play via PC shows it isn't compatible with my device. What a bummer.

I belive a very very early RR2 version (the old free version app with IAP) did have controls, it also did appear in the launcher in many versions after support was dropped. I know EA have had lots of bugs from day 1 with RR2 and still having them now to this day nearly 2 years on, maybe this is the reason for loss of support. putting this game aside every other EA racer was Optimized.
Screenshot of a version with no controls but was in launcher below.

Where the hell did you get it from ?!

DiKeJ always had that ability to get games not yet released, show 'em on the Xplay launcher and make everyone jealous of him. Clever guy. Hehehe.
I'm excited already.

All I can say for you, that SD Files is veeeery big.

Re: Real Racing 3 (Due this month)
Can you comment on the graphics or not? If not, then that's fine. Just interested seeing as though the graphics look very impressive in trailers and the sort

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

Graphics is not as in dev diary, that's for sure. But still very good, and nicely optimized to work flawlessly, but still - SD Files could be smaller (noticed that on my tablet, it's even bigger! *There is Mali400 and 2x1.6GHz). Except that - maybe some fixes will come before official relase, that's all I can say . And stop writing me PM about apk -> I won't share anything, I'm honest with my friends .

Touchpad, right, is for looking around the room and its reveresed. So touching the left side of the riht touchpad make you go opposite direction in viewing angle. Also sometimes you press the right touchpad and you screen just spins.... very annoying. am still keeping this game as its funny and I enjoyed it. I am going to email the Dev InXile and ask that they continue to perfect the controls because this game as a lot of potential on our phone. I saw a little lag every now and then. CGI videos are only half screen. It does support both touchpds and dpad, but it does not show up in the Xperia pLAY launcher.
We are able to adjust the performance of the game in the performance options so that it will run better if needed. Also I set all performance settings on high or maximum and bumped my phones CPU to 1.2ghz on performance and saw no or very very little lag. Just my findings.
I am emailing them now with my gratitude and some ideas to make the game better control wise, and yes I did mention Xperia PLAY Launcher support.
Here is the email address:
[email protected]
I would like to ask that those who see any bugs and feedback for improvement please email them above. I did mention TLRtheory's page with a link to how to optimize the game for the launcher and I also gave them the link to this page as well.
Excellent game!
I do not understand how they can make these games with excellent graphics for our Xplay!
And games like Horn (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31101815 # post31101815)
They are for TEGRA & ANDROID 3.2 onwards.
I wanted to start this thread, but didn't want be ungrounded, cause I downloaded few minutes before whole SD Files. And what's my opinion about that game? It's awesome, really. Big thumbs up for developers who made this possible, and big plus for Xperia Play optimization. Preety solid next game for our hardcore-gamers library. 100% worth buying!! . And very nice surprise with relase date, cause I was waiting for Rayman Jungle Run today only, and it was delayed actually (-.-). But now we have nice optimized game, with full of humour and more!!! Great!

Can some one please tell me how much internal memory space does this game requires? I am not rooted and have trillions of games installed. The app is 14 MB, I somehow managed to get 37 MB internal memory free from initial 20 MB, but still says free up some space and try again. Looks like removing Dungeon Hunter 3 which is taking 24 MB is the only option.
Hrm... controls don't seem to work properly on "UnOfficial ICS Test Release Xperia Play 4.0.4". Anyone have any luck getting the d-pad and whatnot to work?
This game is awesome. I just love ports from the PC. They're >>>>>> than mobile games.
Love the way they used that touchpad space between the 2 circles as another hardware button (toggle the map) shows out of the box thinking

Sometimes CoD:BOZ would continue aiming/moving in a certain direction if you continued on to the hourglass from a touchpad but I don't think it was intentional

AD 2463.
For the last 500 years, among the bleak and barren worlds that exist in deep space, mankind has expanded its horizons. The most suitable planets and moons near Earth have been terraformed, turning the once-inhospitable wastelands into habitable places.
Deeper and deeper into the universe mankind spread itself, until only a mere handful of humans would or could survive the journey. These distant worlds became industrial powerhouses colonized by few human beings. Although they had to forego the comforts of home, they still managed to scratch out a living in the newly-fertile lands.
For all he knew, man was alone in the vastness of space, until they came...
The G'neng.
You are given control of a clone army of Expendable units, dropped in one by one, rearmed to battle for the last human settlements which have been overrun by the G'neng, a malevolent bio-mechanical alien race.
You start close to home, on the front line of the invasion, and make your way across the galaxy through colonies which have been in the hands of the enemy for longer and longer, until you reach the enemy home-world.
or to put it simply...
* IF IT MOVES... SHOOT IT *
Attack the G'NENG and kill them all. Relentless waves of aliens in a fight to the death
* IF IT DOESNT MOVE... BLOW IT UP *
Nearly everything can be blown up. Large detailed worlds ready to be destroyed.

Yep thought the same. Still checking Sega for Crazy Taxi and Jet Set as would prefer them when they hit the store, but never say no to more Xperia Play support and classic ports
I think many developers that had games on older platforms that did not sell well think Mobile is there second chance. Take The Bards Tale for example that was not great for PS2 as there were far more advanced and sort after games people would rather buy. But look at it among Android games, its one of the greats. Sega also have seen the market for console retro on mobile by back porting there collection. Its like round 2 for developers to make $$$$ on there projects
I do think this is great for us as we get studio made quality titles at a budget price.
Oh Sega's been incredible to us, in fact I'd say they've been the best to us Play users out of any of the developers out there. I too search every day for Crazy Taxi, I love that game so ****ing much. I've had it on the ps2, gamecube, Dreamcast, PC, and, the only time I've played it on the go, the GBA (sure it was a god-awful port but I actually fell for it once I got the hang of it).
In the spirit of things my vote for next obscure Dreamcast port goes to either Carrier or Maken X
Have had an update from the developers and have added it to first post to notify you all.
Game is out now added link to first page.
That's great and all, but how is this different from the other twin stick shooters the Play Store is flooded with?
It's not a twin stick, it plays more like the 3d Contras actually and is quite fun. If you are sick of action/shooter games then you probably won't find much to like though.
Is there anything on the Xperia Play optimization? I didn't see it in the patch notes, and I wouldn't go for a game of this type if it doesn't have gamepad support.

Yes it's still coming. Notice they are still calling it launch version (with basic bug fixes) they want to make a big deal about gamepad support when ready. As it is not only going to be Xperia play optimized but also Moga and others too. Think they hate touch screens as there is no on-screen controls and feels like touch screen controls were an after thought. Will keep an eye out on our email as we should be getting some news from them soon

Just want to give my two cents and little mini-review (I'm on what appears to be the last level and if being drunk doesn't make me too dizzy to play I'll finish it tonight; I'm looking at you Final Fantasy 3, yet I don't quite know why) of the game:
I'm really in love with it but it has a lot of flaws. The game-play clearly resembles games like Afterburner and Panzer Dragoon but with a hint of Charge n' Blast in level design and appearance. The game looks absolutely gorgeous but this comes at a cost; the game lags occasionally on the Play and when it does it is quite heavy lag that really effects game-play. I play on a stock r800i and not only did I experience lag (which lowering the resolution settings did not seem to effect) but I have also had a few force closes. The most damning issue by far would be that the game's controls simply don't function properly in a critical way. If you double tap left or right you do a dodge in which you spin and move slightly faster but on the Play pressing the d-pad simply defaults to dodge instead of standard move making precise aiming nearly impossible while heavily affecting your dodge_accuracy% score multiplier at the end of a level. There are other control issues not exclusive to the Play such as defaulting to melee attack after an on-the-ground melee combo even when you are far out of range. The soundtrack is one of the best I've ever heard in a game and some of the overall design such as the vs. screen with the siren appearing before a boss battle really make the game feel polished on a level not yet seen on an Android device. The game-play suffers the most in the desert stage when riding the buggy since you literally have no clue which direction you should be going resulting in many inevitable crashes in to invisible walls which guide you to the right path. The boss battles are also somewhat monotonous since each boss (remember, I've fought four out of what I assume are five bosses, if I'm wrong I apologize and will fix), with the exception of the first feature the same weak points, two "arms" and a head. Even still, the boss battles are incredibly fun and add a great sense of accomplishment to the very long levels. The variation in game-play is great; you fly, walk, hop on a buggy (ugh), a motorcycle, and jump in a turret. The only aspect that feels weak would be the overhead view shmup style level that appears in between each main level. While the isometric level is clearly intended to be a bonus level due to the amount of points you can achieve, there is never any variation. The enemies are the same, the background is the same and all that changes are slight increases in difficulty.
TL;DR, the game is fantastic, even if I sounded a bit harsh in my review, but the single aspect that keeps it from being a must-have would be the way that the controls default to dodge instead of move. This is literally game-breaking in my opinion. For people like myself that really dig this style of game I'd say "**** yeah, pick it up" but if you are on the fence I'd recommend putting it off until fixes are made.
Force Close
Could someone please tell me the internal memory & RAM you keep in your phone before playing this game?
Right now, it force closes after 10mins of gameplay even when I keep 200MB RAM free. But my internal memory is low (85MB). Me thinks this might be the reason. But need some confirmation before I email the developers.
Below is the reply I got from them.
Hello,
Please up the free ram to 384 before starting the game and confirm the issue no longer exists.
Kindest regards
384MB free RAM on the Play? is this even possible????? Any ideas please?
Hahaa....no way in heck can you get even 300 mb free....the higheat I've had is 260....and that was about 2 minutes...
Sent from my R800x using xda app-developers app
Unlocked my bootloader. Flashed Doomlord's kernel. Overclocked to 1.4GHZ. Got 180MB internal memory free. Runs nicely now. So, I guess the problem was not with the available RAM.
Another update on this game to reduce in-game memory usage. I do see some improvement. Now I do not have to wait for the next phone restart to play this game. Hope GTA Vice City too is updated the same way.
Change log below
Reduce in-game memory usage.
.Fix a bug with Level3 Big Boss "Almas".
.Fix a shader problem on MALI-400 GPU.

Thank you for the kind compliments :good:
It took more than a year for me to write all of the music for ExZeus 2, and I enjoyed every second of it.
If you liked the soundtrack, it's available for sale at a ridiculous price, and it includes two bonus tracks which didn't make it in to the game (because they were too progressive!)
You can buy the soundtrack (or listen to it for free) here - ronjward.bandcamp.com

I'm gonna e-mail them about the launcher supported if they can listen to me i think this is the last big game for xperia play i mean optimized. so the launch support would be definitely needed.
My god. The game is out today, you have identified a bug & already posted a fix for this. Thanks a lot poo-tang. You are amazing. Gonna leave office early today to buy this game.
Thanks poo-tang

Ok. Bought the game. Applied poo-tang's fix & I can confirm that it works. First impressions.
1. Takes up 2.3MB on phone memory which cannot be moved
2. Tried playing the game on medium resolution & the game force closed between levels. So, have not tried on High resolution. Default resolution for XPlay is low. But game does not look that bad on this setting. No lags too (Overclocked to 1.4GHz OnDemand & RAM Manager setting on Hard Gaming though).
3. Could not find the controller setup even though it says this can be done.
4. Camera is pretty bad. Does not focus where required. This is a pretty bad issue on this game & I hope they fix ASAP.

Right touchpad moves camera if helps. Also I notice their is something wrong with the button mapping in game as cant map buttons on my hid controllers on other devices either (looks like they need to fix that). hopefully an update or 2 will sort the bugs out, but overall I found this to be a pretty good game (could be biased as love the Alien films )
Sent from my Sony Tablet S using Tapatalk HD
control movement is very hard and the camera is not pretty good . hope they can fix it soon .
Excuse the reference but there are bugs in the game, the touchpad controls seem to randomly switch on or off on the loading of levels, I agree that the d-pad controls are not the best but when the touchpads work the experience is better than using the onscreen controls. I've not overclocked and have been using v6 supercharger mode 3 and the game can lag a bit when faced with 3 enemy's to attack. I've also found that the predators vision modes screw up the visuals completely and not as expected from playing other pc avp games. The above issues can be put aside as do not hinder on progression of the game and earning those important points to spend on upgrades, which I am impressed with the selection for both playable species.
However the biggest issue I'm facing at the moment is the game not returning the ability to attack when my alien comes out of the vent after being able to climb walls. Which means I am left to run around the next room gettin shot at by marines and knifed by androids until I die.
I'm really hoping an update will fix this as I'm really enjoying this game so far.
There is the option of IAP within the store to buy experience points but this isn't enabled at present. Not that I feel they are needed, as previously completed levels can be replayed to grind your experience points if required.
I'm impressed with it so far. I would say worth the money for a fan of the avp series, when the bugs are sorted I will be telling every fan I know that this exists.

anyone got this bug ? in alien mission 4 - alien instinct , after you climb up the wall and go through the hole , i can't use my attack . even when gamepad slider is closed , A and B button does not show up . anyone encounter this bug ?
Did you try to restart from last checkpoint or whole mission?
Anyway, about the game, I finally got it and yes - it's awesome. I'm not the AvP best fun (it doesn't mean I don't like it) and even without that, it's still very must-have title for Play users - and also optimized by developers .
tried that and no luck .
Brightness sucks

Description
Carmageddon is the original freeform driving sensation, where pedestrians (and cows!) equal points, and your opponents are a bunch of crazies in a twisted mix of automotive killing machines. The game features anarchic drive-wherever-you-like gameplay and over-the-top surreal comedy violence. It’s the racing game where racing is for wimps.
Now the same Mac & PC classic that was BANNED AROUND THE WORLD is back and available on Android phones and tablets!Carmageddon features real-world environments that have been turned into killing fields, where the locals stay out on the streets at their peril. As well as using your car as a weapon, every level is sprinkled generously with power-ups that have a vast variety of mad effects, adding a whole extra level of craziness to the proceedings. In every event you have the option to “play it your way”… Waste all your opponents, kill every pedestrian, or (perish the thought) complete all the laps. Oh and watch out – the cops in their super-tough armoured patrol vehicles are lurking, and if they catch you being bad they’ll be down on you like several tons of cold pork!
FEATURES
• 28 dangerously deranged Opponents
• 11 wildly exhilarating Environments
• Career Mode featuring 36 satisfyingly violent Levels
• Race and Wreck opponents to unlock 30 playable cars!
• Multiple control methods: digital, analogue (mix ‘n’ match), tilt
• Edit your control layout in game to your preferences
• Comprehensive Action Replay System
• Environment maps and other special effects
• Enhanced pre-lit environments
• Buckets of gibs
• Tons of laughs
Plus the opportunity to make in app purchases to unlock ALL the cars (apart from the secret one) and ALL the races!
Carmageddon requires Android 2.3.4 or later.
AWARDS AND RECOGNITION FOR THE ORIGINAL GAME
Carmageddon won the “Game of the Year” trophy in the 1997 PC Zone Reader awards. Carmageddon 1 & 2 were “Driving Game of the Year” 1997/1998.
SELECTED REVIEWS OF THE ORIGINAL GAME
Originally released for the PC in 1997, Carmageddon was an instant hit and the titles went on to sell over 2 million copies worldwide. Here’s what a sample of the gaming press thought at the time:
“Carmageddon is visceral, violent, vehicular fun...” - GameSpot 8.8 out of 10
“Carmageddon, to get straight to the point, is one of the best computer games I've ever played… Carmageddon is God!” - Duncan McDonald 95% Classic Award PC Zone Magazine
“Carmageddon is one of those games that only come along once in a blue moon. An essential purchase.” - Escape Magazine 6 out of 6
“The gameplay is spot on and anyone with a dark enough sense of humour should give it a go.” - Computer Gaming World 4 out of 5
“So next time you gun down coppers on GTA VI, just remember, Carmageddon’s controversy was there first, and you have a lot to thank it for.” - RetroGarden
ABOUT STAINLESS GAMES
Stainless was founded in 1994 by Patrick Buckland, a veteran of the games industry going back to the Jurassic period of 1982, and Neil Barnden, who used to have hair like a mammoth. A team of 8 worked on the original Carmageddon at Stainless, and 5 are still with the company today, although a couple of them are now kept manacled in a small padded room in the cellar.
Stainless Games now employs well over fifty mad, dedicated people of assorted gender, height and width. They can all be found dangling precariously from a small chalky rock just off the South Coast of England.
ScreenShots
Yes. There is a Carmageddon for Android. But no XP optimised. Works really choppy (on default clock speed). Now my battery is down so I will check it again later.
Thanks for a link and info (it's free only for a day).
Not XPO as far as I can tell, however you can use the right touchpad to accelerate only, and the left touchpad to swipe to the map and action replay screen. Weird. But seems like a good candidate for optimisation in the future

Yeah I noticed that. If normally (99% of the time) any sort of Xperia Play touchpad support is present, it was ment intentionally as they would of written or started to write framework code for it. I never have seen touchpads work by accident so guess we mite see full optimization in the future

Done! Optimised to the point of using all the on-screen controls, but the shoulder and start/select buttons are not used (I mapped the Repair function to
and you're only able to Recover using the menu anyway (BACK button, btw). Exporting done with version 4.0.1 of this great app.

We don't! However, I'm pretty sure you can cure the lag with this - " [HowTo] Micromax A87 : Partition SD card to use with Link2SD & Swapper 2 (For enabling swap) By Vishal Srivastava " on youtube.
I'm just waiting for my 64GB card to try it out, cause clearly the problem is NOT the proccessor speed nor the GPU (check out the performance of the Mine type of level, i.e. The Pit, where's not many different textures are used.
It's ram, ans hes right, if u use swapper then it's smooth, I'm using it and all background process get swapped and i hav all my ram free for carmagedon so it's smooth,

Hey man, could anyone make a tutorial in how to get Carmageddon to run smooth? I reckon it would get a decent amount of views since everyone in the Carmageddon forums who used the game with the Xperia Play was frustrated at the poor performance. I would appreciate it too cos im a noob (I still have to buy the phone first)
Btw, when I said FPS i was talking about an ingame aplication that shows the ingame FPS like on this video, not the actual video footage (if that makes sense)

Simply use lupus ics/gb ketnel v7 ram with frago xplaystation rom, using no frills set 284min and 1324max with intellidemand2 and deadline.
I know that ils odd but this rom, an ics rom, is better to play carrmageddon than all the gb rom i have test.
Anyway, no lag with this rom/kernel, 100% playable this game is just perfect.
thanks bro, will test,
Any news?
