FAQ
FAQ
1. What's the difference between CM10 beta xxxx than CM10.1
~ CM10 beta xxx is based on android 4.1.2 while CM10.1 is based from 4.2
2. Should i try and use CM10.1?
~ Yes it only has some minor bugs but all's good
3. I'm Experiencing XXXXX bug
~ First try to give a logcat, then give it to the devs and wait for them to fix the bug
4. Is XXXXXXX feature working??
~ Try it yourself if it works be sure not to ask that in dev thread since it doesn't help at all
5. When is Next build gonna be released?
~ Wait.... the next version will be released when its done.... "NO ETA"
6. How to increase Cm10.1 performance
~ use overclock kernel, KSM and Zram
7. Should i try overclock kernel?
~ yes, the kernel is tested and will not fry your nand so it's okay
8. Is cm10.1 stable enough?
~ for me yes, it gives me smooth transitions and all but if you use stuffs like camera and bluetooth, its not recommended to use YET
9. Is there battery drain?
~some says yes, some says no, it really depends on how you use your phone and what apps are installed
but for me it seems that battery life is a little shorter but no worries since its just alpha builds lets wait for a more stable build
~MORE TO COME IN THE FUTURE~
useful
Very nice and helpful thread
point to be added in the faq..NO ASKING FOR ETA...most threads are filled with such posts....learn to be patient..
....
so if anyone tried except for bugs how is rom....anywhere near cm9/10...is the lockscreen lagging too much...
Re: [Discussion] CM10.1 user discussion thread
Nothing is lagging. Cm 10.1 smoothest cm 10 ROM made ever. Even smooth than beta 2.

Well this thread is about cm 10.1 and the person for who was asking was trying to compare cm 10.1 and cm9/10 therefore I wrote cm 10 so that he could understand difference. Or should I write it is the smoothest cm 10.1 ROM when there is only one , even that is alpha.:banghead:

there is no need to adding what is working and what doesn't, guys this is alpha version, so that means it is in DEVELOPMENT stage, not for daily use, when it comes to beta version there will be working/bugs, can you just wait for that, or you can just try it
and one thing more, alpha one is not true project butter (vsync disabled) but alpha 2 will be )
hit thanks button if i helped

Even if it is in development it helps to know what is working during development and is easy to track how much progress is done. In fact for eg if I say RIL is not working a new member may not understand that he can't use it as a daily driver. So he nay end up flashing it and complaining about it in the dev thread. And ask Sak to add this thread link to the first post @op.
Ps is there any harm in my suggestion. I mean what bad can it do.

so...........another kernel 3.0.x thread? now we have 4 thread...I think that two is ok, bbut four ones...
I thought 3.0 kernel was gonna help in camera and performance but there's no major difference in gaming. I'm using kernel 3.0x by Arco/I vendor and the kernel only made cm9 back to stage 1, where camera is not working

Don't be mad at me with your GIANT words I'm just saying how will 3.0x kernel help our phone. I only heard that it is an improved Linux and stuff like window xp to 7 but what is the major improvement when using? (P.S building kernels is way tougher than doing math)
Now I'm not sure where to post bugs, so I'll post here and in 1st dev 3d.

Improvemends made by an 3.0.X kernel:
arco68 said:
If someones wondering what improvements a 3.0 kernel will give us, I can list some.
Easier to implement bug fixes and security fixes to core kernel (since 2.6.35 kernel is EOL and won't receive any more updates).
Easier to implement new features.
Most probably working USB accessory and OTG support.
Native working USB drivers for ICS (not legacy support like now), which means MTP works flawlessly.
Easier to build a proper kernel for jellybean that has the required vsync stuff for full project butter.
Regarding camera, it will not provide any improvements in that area unfortunately - if we are able to get it working at all. That's because we don't have native userspace libraries for ICS, so it will still be using a HAL wrapper around the gingerbread libs.

This kernel will open a whole new page for us, don't think we are at stage 1 we are at stage 10 just by getting the kernel boot! This is a major improvment to our phone so please stay patiance and you will se how much diffrence it is betwen 2.x.x and 3.x.x

This is Discussion and Q&A thread for Sense 4.0 based Roms.
I had seen lot of Questions and Doubts going on in the Dev threads, from bootloops to apps that are working to which Rom to flash.
So you can post your queries here and help each other out.
People who successfully booted these builds can post their procedures here for others to follow.
But if you guys wanna post requests for future builds, do that in the respective threads.
For ppl troubled by bootloops while flashing Sense based Roms, check this out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37374315
It's a temporary fix until derefas releases build#5.
For those who don't know or who are lazy to include those lines given in the post, here is the link to modded mv2ext script:
http://db.tt/EFOHAoeq
-Download the mv2ext script from the link.
-Open the Rom zip and copy it in the additions folder and flash the Rom.
-Please save the original mv2ext file separately, so that if this doesn't work you can come back to original.
==> And for people who keep asking about the differences between JaggyDzire and FlyRom :
1. Don't ask questions comparing Roms.
2. Please always read the changelogs and bugs posted by the OP.
3. Read previous posts. Your question might've already been asked and answered. Please dont come up with an excuse that you are lazy to read through.
4. And use Q&A or discussion threads to post questions, if you consider yourself a newbie
*Please don't quote the whole post*
....
i've tried runnig a custom boot animation on this rom and failed.....
this bootanimation i Earlier compiled for cm9 and is runnig successfully on cm9....
for this rom i renamed it to htc_bootup.zip (rom orignally had this ) and moved it to system/customize/resource/"here"

Well being a fan of Sense, I flashed Sense 4.0 build#4 and it booted.
What I had:
- TWRP Recovery
- 1.4GB ext4 partition
- 16GB class 4 SD card
- Superwipe.zip by akya
- Downloaded Sense4.0build#4.zip
- Working HTC Explorer
- And most important patience!
What to do:
- Download the Rom.zip and place it in the root of your SD card.
- Reboot to TWRP Recovery.
- Flash Superwipe.zip. Wait for it to reboot into recovery again.
- Wipe Dalvik cache.
- Dont mount any partition for build#4 (if you're flashing older builds then mount Cache and sd-ext)
- Flash Rom.zip.
- Wait for it to boot. Takes 5-7mins. (Don't unlock the lockscreen right away. Wait for couple mins more to let things settle)
- If it reboots after unlocking the ring, pray it doesnt end in bootloop.
{Edit: Few people were able to go around the above problem. Look at this by 'new to hacking' : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37197065
This one too by Danceoff: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37177043 }
- Go through initial setup and enjoy the Rom.!

Not yet. FlyRom will be uploaded in the evening. It's powered bt kernel 2.6.x.x, not kernel 3.x.x. JaggyDzire might take a few more days.!

link2sd ,app2sd ,ungaze etc etc isn't working with this rom.....just wait for the next build ...derefas is working on a script for this rom...hopefully he'l come up with something good.:good:
For those suffering bootloops with sense 4, they can try the JaggyDzire v1.1 posted by Apex-Predator. JaggyDzire v1.2 has been posted, yet version 1.1 has no bootloop issues as compared to version 1.2 as far as i tested. Dont mount anything except sdcard.
Here's the link:

Derefas is uploading new build#5 tonight. Keeping my fingers crossed. Hope its gonna be final..!
Edit: Ppl please try build#5 and report here:beer:
Can any dev develop a flashable zip for softkeys similar to flyromv2 for derefas build?
keys as:
Home key-Home
Home Key Longpress-Recent Apps
Menu key-Menu
Menu key Longpress-Keyboard
Back Key-Back
Back Key Longpress-Kill App
Search Key-Search
Search Key Longpress-Google Search App

As we got CM10.2 to beta-state fast, I decided to run weekly builds of it.
What are Weekly builds?
CM10.2 builds of the latest androidarmv6* source from github, so you always have latest CM features and fixes.
New version will come out every week, most often during the weekends.
This is not a replacement for development thread. Post bugs there!
Additional features:
- Sweep2wake
- HALO 2.0
- Gesture unlock
- Off-charging animation
- and of course, performance.

Yes, all fixes by him incuded, but Bluetooth is still a bit buggy but works. Will see when he releases full source, maybe he forgot to mention something.
Please add link to source to OP!
Also moved to Android development. Nothing original in these builds. There is already a CM 10.2 thread in original development.
what ever the build may be , creating something perfect matters
Smooth
Rom is smooth
Ram consumption is also less, just one doubt. Memory script...?

not true, gapps are working, keyboard doesnt FC, there are gapps posted same as the one for 4.2.2 and everything works, better search next time, then post, and capacitive buttons are working too, all of these problem are due to bad gapps package, if you use the right one there will be no problem

You should not move this thread from original to android development. The on going development would be original in future. I don't think there is anything wrong in this. And it is not even violating the rules.

Well, you can agree as much as you want. There is ONE original CM10.2 thread and all following are not considered original. Thats what the word says...
If it would be a rom BASED on CM10.2 with significant changes, then it would be different. That's not the case though...
