[Q] Change cid? - HTC Desire S

Hi guys, my wifes desire s is rooted, s-off and cid_001. Now i would like to change her cid to supercid, is the same procedure for sensation the way to go or is it only possible through xtc clip? Thanks a bunch!

Only possible through XTC clip. Sadly, superCID never found its way to the Desire S.

Not even with an eng bootloader? Just trying to figure out if there is absolutely no other way then the xtc clip.

The closest that we can do is downgrade/restore/upgrade to ANY CID an RUU is locked in. It may be close to have supercid that gives you the freedon to flash RUUs. If I understand the reason of using supercid.

Actually its becouse of my own skills regarding HTC phones, been learning a lot lately and reached a point where everything is unlocked s-offed and customized except for the CID!
Just trying to get the entire thing fully customized and unlocked now. Thnx for your input!

If you have new hboot (2.00.002) and you are S-OFF, it means your phone has hardware S-OFF, using XTC clip. You don't have to unlock it. You can do right about everything with your phone without unlocking it.
So why is this

Coming

Try 'fastboot oem unlock'
Some first gen phone's were s-off to start with. Don't quote me on that, I'm guessing.

Because s-off/s-on and locked/unlocked are 2 different things. Trust me being s-off'ed by xtc clip is more then enough, you can install anything you want. I have a phone like that. Don't unlock, there is no need for that. You can flash any RUU if you want so and still stay s-off and then flash any custom rom, and then RUU again... I've done that all more then once.

Since your phone already is s-off,
You can root it now using a tool like superoneclick or something else.

Agree with the above.
What I personaly did is installed latest RUU 2.10.401.9 just to have the latest hboot and radio (since I have xtc clip s-off, I stayed s-off). Then rooted it with one click tool, flashed latest 4ext recovery and installed my favorite custom rom.

Is it necessary to take nandroid backup before rooting or we can simply backup our appz

Are you kidding?? Already told you.
If it's already s-off, root it with superoneclick, install recovery like 4ext or cwm, backup everything and flash roms like it's going crazy.
Search the forums, it's written a hundret times everywhere!#!

Dude, you know, I'm not gonna do the simple search work for you. I tried to help you but I have other things to do aswell. If you're not able to find the mentioned stuff by yourself, you should probably not play around with your device...

[Q] Does anybody think revolutionary will update?

Hello, I am s-on (by accident) and hboot 1.23 and i cant flash any new firmware so no ics for me. The only solution is for revolutionary to support it which it doesn't. Could ANYBODY please tell me if there are any plans whatsoever that revolutionary will be updated? Sorry is this offends the devs of it, i'm not purposefully asking for an ETA, i'm just desperate.
Why don't you use htcdev.com?
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
Because that doesn't give s-off it only unlocks the bootloader.
I'd like to know this too for when the update comes.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using xda premium
Why don't you just use an official Gingerbread RUU? It downgrades the bootloader to 1.18 on which you can use Revolutionary.
They won't... I am sure of this... They haven't got any reason to upgrade... They have s-offed yet so no more work for them here

I do think they'll add support for the new hboot when they can, especially since alot of sensations will upgrade ota or possibly come with the new hboot out of the box in the future.

We have an S-OFF 1.27.1100 hboot so that sort of proves that they are updating it doesn't it?
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio Z715e using xda premium
For some reason when I updated to the leaked ICS RUU I was still unlocked and S-off, whereas my girlfriends phone went back to being locked, though still S-off. Both with Hboot 1.27.0000. A bit off topic I know, but I can't figure out why...

Just flash any firmware package like mike1986's or baadnewz's ones from the respective threads and it will give you both the unlocked bootloader

Downgrade needed. How-to?

Hi, I made that account especially to ask that question. The problem is that I wanted to unlock my phone via HTC Dev's unlocking soft but unfortunately i have higher RUU than the needed one I dunno how the hell could it happen but if you have any ideas how I can return to the stock RUU I would really aprecciate it. Thanks in advance.
Sent from my HTC ChaCha A810e using xda app-developers app
Skip the step about RUU Update and continue unlocking via HTC Dev. No need to downgrade.
Thanks I'll try that later !

Question about bootloader

What would happen if someone on 2.20 firmware try to unlock bootloader from http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader/

MID Error.........will not work without changing cid to 11111111, which is only possible if rooted.

Thank you for the insight. Hope people find root on 2.20

Root and supercid with S-off=ota without brick?

Just trying to clarify that if you have S-off with supercid and take the ota it will not brick your phone?

You should be fine. It may be even safer to just download the ota and flash manually.
S-off deactivates all restrictions and security checks. So these things HTC keeps adding, like /system wp and cid checks, which sometimes cause bricks when combined with non-standard setups, don't operate.
Everyone should s-off.
If you are rooted and S-off, why do you even want the OTA? Unless you want whatever updated firmware (aside from the ROM itself).
