Hi,
I bought the Sensation about 11 months ago and I'm happy with it. Tha material on the back cover makes it slide from my hand but with a silicon cover everything works fine.
BUT, when I browse on the web, play games and check facebook it overheats, on the lower part of the phone. The more time I spend on these activities, the more it gets hot.
I'm constantly thinking to sell it, but I don't know if i't a good idea, since it does everything I need (and has a lot more of stuff that i don's use.. In fact i keep thinking about the new Lumia 620).
Does this happen to you too? May it be a battery problem? If I replace the original one with another, will it do something?
Thanks!

Ok, you said playing games. Games will definetly overheat your phone, and not just on android, but ony other smartphone you can find, because games take all the processer power it can get. I have xperia arc and it also overheats. Facebook is just the same story, but less than what games absorb from your CPU power.
So don't think it is only you. I have an iPhone and it also overheats up

If i play Reckless Racing and games like these ok, i get it, but Ruzzle?!? It happens with it too.
Glad to hear that it's a common fact
Don't worry buddy.. Its a normal thing.. Mine gets hot too..
BTW you can try bricked kernel with default settings to reduce heat.. Don't overclock anything..

Hello everyone,
Well after glancing this thread, I've noticed that there have been known problems related with touchscreen, dust, and battery life. I can get a brand new sensation sealed for 320 $ off contract. Is it worth it with all these problems? I had a g2x and sold it due to its problems and it seems like the sensation has more problems than the g2x. Also, I won't have a receipt so I can't exchange it like many of you if I have a problem.
I currently have a nexus S that will be faster than the stock sensation. The reason I want to buy this phone is because I need more space and I have a 32 gb sdhc laying around that I can use.
I know that the dust as well as unresponsive touchscreen will be a big annoyance. However, the price makes it so tempting.
What are your thoughts?
Thanks
The risk is that phone may have death grip issue.
Almost every single smart-phone released within the last 2 years, android or otherwise has had a similar concoction of problems, either screen, dust, battery, whatever.
I've had 0 issues with my device and am amazingly happy.

Thanks for your input. However, my nexus S has been working perfectly with no dust, touchscreen issues etc. I just wish it would have a microsd slot
I would steer well clear of the Sensation until the bootloader situation is resolved. It is pointless 'downgrading' in terms of the performance you will get out of the box and pointless leaving a device that works perfectly for one with a variety of niggling issues.

It's a dice roll, and no one here has the facts to know what the risks are of getting a bad phone.
It has yet to be determined if the wifi and touchscreen issues are HW or SW or some combination. There's evidence that supports each conclusion. Battery life is probably related to usage, sync options, and some apps, so can be tweaked as on all phones. If the upcoming SW update from HTC resolves the wifi and screen response problems then I'd say the phone is probably worth risking. If not, then who knows?
Without knowing the exact causes and the actual failure rates all you'll get are guesses. My advice, if you buy it have a plan B on how to exit if it turns bad.
I got my sensation launch day, 0 problems except that the front facing camera doesn't outperform many other smartphone ffc's in low light.
You should buy that phone, and you should PM me and tell me how I can get one for that price.
Unless there's just one, then you shouldn't buy it and just tell me how I can.
:-D

I'd steer clear for now just because it seems like the stock rom is going to be a lot laggier than what the Nexus S has to offer. It's laggier even than the Evo3D, for some reason.
Chuck in the battery life, dust under the screen and the probability that you'll develop the touchscreen wonkiness over time, and I'd wait until it's been properly updated
No issues on my end.. phone is working great for me. I think the battery life issue is way overblown (power users who will never find an OEM willing to make a battery that meets their needs but is overkill for the average user). The tech blogs show the the Sensation to be above average and better than the other "superphones" I checked; http://www.laptopmag.com/review/cell-phones/htc-sensation-4g.aspx?mode=benchmarks&cids=2804,2800,pa
I find it highly convenient that you chose to link to one of the few sites that rated the Sensation above its main rival. I'm not saying the Sensation is a bad device as I would have bought one weeks ago had the bootloader been unlocked or HTC bothered to release a timetable for it. However the fact remains that the vast majority of sites put the Sensation second in every category bar build quality and Sense (which comes down to personal preference and at least you have the option to change things on rival devices).
So your giving advice and you dont even own the phone?
I find it funny you guys mentioned dust under screen like it's widespread issue everyone has. But truthfully it's not . Nor does every phone suffer from screen responsive issues.
I know these for a fact cause I had 3 sensations none of them had the same issues. In fact none of them had dust under the screen. The phone I have in my hands right now. Has been nothing short of perfect. I have not had any issues.

Not giving you a hard time, I've just seen way too many posts saying the phone was perfect for X days, then all of a sudden it started degrading. Same happened to me, 5 days perfect, by day 7 totally dead. Hopefully I'll get lucky on the replacement, but I'm only semi-optimistic.
Buy it and sell it on ebay ...you can get around $500 for it either way buy and and figure out what you wanna do later

Actually the 1st one had issues overheating ect. The 2nd one was fine I just wanted the sharp screen. I got the phone with my preffered screen and it's giving no issues 1 week in. But if you wanna judge a phone off someone else's experience or off a few bad phones in a batch. Then to each his own.

Hi everyone I heard sensation have so much problems but idk what problems or how bad. Currently I have HTC panache with 2.3.3 out of box in Canada which is same as mytouch 4g . Is it worth upgrade cause I can return my phone . I got it less than week ago. I had LG optimus 2x for 3 days so many random shutoffs so return that one. Please share your taughts.
I just bought mine and to be honest it's using an "immature" operating system.
With that said,it has the goods to really perform once the OS is wrung out.
TBH,my phone for the last five years has been an Audiovox PPC 6600.
It's been as solid as a rock.
I was really reluctant to change as the phone has done everything I needed.
With that said,I'm also a hardware freak...new phones...oh yeah.
I looked at the Atrix, but there was too many things about it that gave me pause.
This one didn't,so I bought it.....and I don't regret it.
There will probably be better phones in the near future, but for the money, this one's going to be tough to beat.....it's very versatile.

I am currently on my fourth Sensation with a 5th one to arrive in 3 days. All have had random rebooting-overheating- screen creaking(gets worse as time goes by)volume that just goes so low(randomly) you cannot hear it(when settings are on max) dour battery life, losing all signal at times and having to reboot to get a signal-wifi grip issue AND LOCKED BOATLOADER and the list goes on. If I had it to do over again I would not have ordered one in the first place. The phone does have enormous potential but its like the sport scene-so many athletes with enormous potential that never are heard from again or just never make it to the bigs. Having said all of this I do like the phone(it feels great in my hand) but no updates from HTC(very little if any word about if and when) and issues that seem to accumulating more and more everyday, make me quite hesitant to recommend this phone. I know others will state just the opposite and I am sure that is their experience. I can only share what my experience is and has been.
I will be receiving my package containing the Nexus S tomorrow from Fedex. I am eager and super anxious and just want to sleep this day away.
I went from a Palm Pixi to this Nexus S, and was curious as to what exciting things should I do within the first hour of receiving this incredible phone? Any "neat" or "cool" tricks besides rooting?
TIA <3
You're going to be looking for all sorts of excuses to play with it, just to look at the screen. I can't think of anything specific to the Nexus personally, but I don't even have mine rooted because it's just how I want it out of the box.

This... I haven't gotten around to root my phone because it has all i ask of it right off the box. It's fast, reliable, and after the first week, i noticed my NS going from 11-13 hours of moderate use with still 10%-20% battery left.
The battery does start off dying quickly. After a couple days of a full charge to fully drained the battery life gets really good.

I'd like to know if there is any noticeable lag on Sense 4.0? I have read that there is some lag with HTC's own apps like HTC Watch. I would like to know how smooth the stock browser is on the AT&T version. I have also read that while charging the entire phone lags really bad? Anyone care to confirm or deny that?
The one i used at the store yesterday was plugged in, seemed lag free to me. I'm pretty particular about that, and was pleased at how smooth it felt.
I also played with the one at the store while it was charging. It was the only phone I've ever seen that didn't lag at all unmodified. Not sure who told you it lagged...

That's simple, jealous fanboys of other companies. Especially the fruity ones.
I noted a bunch of lag in my review, actually. The launcher is lag-tastic. If it goes out of memory, when you open the app drawer it'll take 1-2 seconds. That's ridiculous when you think of the raw hardware power in this phone. My conclusion: HTC sucks at creating apps, stick with custom launchers.

I will say that I played with an in-store unit today and it felt lagless. It's entirely possible that it was just my review unit. I may film a video showing off the lag on my unit so you guys can see. If anyone's interested in that, let me know.

Mine is unbelievably lagless. Never had a phone respond like this one. Even the face unlock is nearly instantaneous. If it's already pointing the right direction, face unlock takes about 1/10 of a second extra to identify me and go to the launcher.
Hurts me to even think this, but I'd keep it even without an unlocked bootloader. I still need root though.
Edit: Stabilizes at about 33c while playing Gun Bros. Ambient is cool at about 15c.
Definitely is more lag than an iPhone 4s. This is my first android so I'm hoping going with a stock os will be even better. Though I must say, I still love the one x.

Been using the stock lg launcher since I got the phone and everything for me has been fluid.....
Lol then I see you made a post saying the phone was fast and no problems out of it........
I've had my phone for over a month now and I've never had any random reboots or overheating. I use my phone a lot so battery is meh for Me. But I'm happy and I love it.

Just bought mine a lil over a week ago , hated to but got the carrier branded AT&T version. This is actually 2nd one. The first phone kept randomly shutting off during activation at the store. I like this phone. It has times where different points on the screen become unresponsive. Aggregating...it also seems to use much more of the ram than I would expect right out of the box. I use a tempered glass screen protector that may or not be causing my screen issues? As a LONG time HTC user, coming from the One, M7. I'm still getting used to something different. I do like it though. Thinking about rooting when I have time off because once boot loader is unlocked I think this device will be a beast!

Had my phone over a month now and absolutely loving it. Running stock rooted, no greenify. I froze all the AT&T apps and none of the LG ones. I use the stock launcher and get well over 4+ hours of screen on time, no overheating, no reboots, etc. My fiancee has the phone as well and she's been averaging almost 6+ hrs of screen on time, however where she works has better signal. I travel all over the place for work and signal is spotty.
No rebooting issues here. I will admit that my m8 outperforms the g3 (except for the camera). However, the note 3 that I received last year was a total disappointment. That was random rebooting nightmare. I guess it really depends on the specific device you get. Some may receive a subpar device.

Slow walking the bootloader unlock is gonna kill development. Seen it before. If it becomes a popular device devs will come and an unlock with it but I understand people wanting a device with options. I don't use 3rd party ROMs anymore so I don't care much.

Agreed. My M8 is faster too, but after a root / debloat / exposed / different launcher / no carrier IQ... not by much.
I have not experienced much lag, mainly keyboard (any) delays keeping up with typing.
I believe that we haven't seen the true potential of the g3 until this bootloader is cracked and meaningful customization is a reality.

I dunno about all that. According to development updates in the bounty thread devs working on it are confident that they can unlock it, and that it's right around the corner.
I'm all for meaningful customization.. I imagine my g3 with the latest miui on it, that would be sweet... That said, this is the first phone I've been happy with as is. Debloated, greenify, g3 tweak box and the stock rom isn't all that bad.

I tried to like this phone , but could not... I was sick of the random reboots and overall sluggish feeling of this phone. I had Note 3 before this and what a mistake....Will get Note 4 in a few weeks.... It's been fun!!

I have mine up for sale because of my issues with it. Had potential to be a great phone but to many buggy laggy areas

No rebooting issues here. I will admit that my m8 outperforms the g3 (except for the camera). However, the note 3 that I received last year was a total disappointment. That was random rebooting nightmare. I guess it really depends on the specific device you get. Some may receive a subpar device.

I have no idea what you're talking about! The note 3 is the best phone out right now. No reboots here at all. Ever. I had one issue on jellybean, the sleep/power button had some lag. But since I moved over to kitkat, that issue is resolved. The screen is sick! 5.7 inch, Super amoled, which is the best imo, 3gb of ram, 32gb internal storage, micro sd slot, usb 3.0. Need I say more? Lol. Now, I also love htc, is my first love. I used to hate samsung. That is until I gave the note 3 a shot. It changed my mind about samsung. And I tried the G3, but it wasn't for me. Ill stick with htc and Samsung.

Cool. I hope I'm very very wrong. I know some devs have unlocks waiting but I guess I'm used to devs staying away if development on a new device isn't hot - which usually is in line with how popular a device is. I'm lost on why this is working out like this with the G3.
I'm really happy with stock too for once. I usually root, unlock, throw Nova on it and maybe go with a stock debloat deodexed or some variation of stock. I can't believe I'm good with the stock launcher ,de-carrieriq'ed + tweakbox. I'm not seeing any lag issues at all either. This thing is dusting my S5. I'm just happy that everything is working, radio being disabled and IR being hosed for 3rd party apps sucks a bit but that's minor.
