[APP][2.0+] QQ Messenger 2013 4.0.1 build 1547 english [Google Translated] - Android Apps and Games

As Tencent is not going to release an english version of the popular QQ Messenger, i made one on my own. Most of you might think "What the hell is QQ?" Yeah, it's one of the most popular messenger apps in the world and has more active users than ICQ and MSN / Live Messenger together (according to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instant_messaging#User_base) So why nobody (in the Western world) knows it? Because it's mostly used in mainland China, even Hongkongese or Taiwanese don't use it that much. So just think about it: If 50% of all inhabitants of China would use it, it would have even more users than people live in the European Union or in North America - but as not many people outside of China are using it (except they have connections to China), nobody cares or knows about it. That might also a reason why Tencent only released a version in simplified chinese. So here's the google translated version. i just decompiled it, threw the strings.xml and arrays.xml into the google translate toolkit and png-optimized+compiled+compressed+signed it again. it's the version 4.0.1build 1547 - should be the version you get on the Play Store as of the 29th January 2013. If you have a newer version, pm me the apk-file and i will translate it.
Ohh and again: It's *Google Translate*-translated - so don't blame me for the wording, at least it's not just a funny bunch of strokes

Btw. i noticed it shows "Appid is invalid" for some seconds but works then.
edit:
seems like loggin in doesnt work anymore, so you need to do this:
* Install QQ from Play Store
* Login
* Backup with Titanium Backup
* Uninstall QQ
* Install QQ from this thread
* Restore "Only data" with Titanium Backup

Will try this later. Thank you anyway but it shouldnt be a problem to find a native chinese speaker for a good translation if you publish the necessary words here. If you cant find a chinese speaking user here send me the text and I will forward it to a chinese friend.

This app contains malware and has affected over 600k phones in china. I read this yesterday. NQ has solution to this.

You mean the original QQ or the translated QQ version he offer here?
Use the original QQ Android for over one year. If you switch of the location permission its pretty ok.

Please don'r spread half true news!
http://en.nq.com/blog/
Here you can read what CAN happen and how to avoid it! As most of the people download QQ from the play store, the version is safe!
If this version here is safe or not I don't know because I didn't tried it yet.
Back to topic: I will be in China next month, so if you can't find somebody to translate it properly until that time, I will translate it with my girlfriend.
Shouldn't be much of a deal for a native speaker!
You should also send these translations to tencent, maybe they will use it
But I really don't know what their problem is, because they already released a very good translation of "WeChat", the chinese version of WhatsApp, that is pretty awesome! Much more functions and u can also use it to chat with your QQ accounts. Only reason why I still use QQ mobile is, that you can't check the online-status of QQ users if u youse WeChat... But beside this, WeChat is the better QQ (and made by the same guys!)

Btw a translated qq version is not really necessary, the client dont have so much functions. Publishing some screenshots with with a explanation should be enough for the most people.
What I really dont like is that the client become more unstable in each new version. qq 2011 was perfect, the new qq is not reliable, always lose connection if the app is in the background.

I can't share this opinion.
I only feel the old Version were more smooth because they did not use too many ressources of the phone. Are you sure you only have the connection issues with QQ? Maybe it's some ICS or JB related power-saving function?!

Yes I'm sure. Maybe every second or third time I switch into the App I can see how the app connect that moment. Friends told me i was indicate as offline before. No problems with Skype or Facebook same moment.

Hello v0ujiemq,
thank you for the translation offer, but as you said - there are not many words to translate/understand and in general the translation is acceptable at least to use it.
"Publishing some screenshots with with a explanation should be enough for the most people." <-- That's what i wanted to avoid. Maybe i will offer a chinese+english-side-by-side version later to learn the words.
So i will just update it if there is a new version but beside that, i just leave it as it is. I just did it for my own cause i cant read chinese and it's ok for me. On the other hand i thought someone else might find it handy, so i offered it as it is. I'm not going to put more effort into it.

hi, thx for the version.
sadly i cant login because im stuck at: verifing login.
could you do me / us a favor and post screenshots of the options ?
the rest of qq is more or less self explained.

What happens if you install the version from the play store, login and then install the english version on top without deleting any data?

doesnt work.
error: app already installed.
"same appname - different signature"

Ok, you're right. The only thing that worked for me was:
* Install QQ from Play Store
* Login
* Backup with Titanium Backup
* Uninstall QQ
* Install QQ from this thread
* Restore "Only data" with Titanium Backup
But I am pretty sure i could normally login with the english version some days ago.

works !
many thanks.

Is it really working? Cause it always tells me appid invalid or something like that.

I guess it's "normal" as it's not the original app anymore.

[APP] SayMyName Dessert

Hello,
At the moment I'm working on a new version of SayMyName Dessert. It's my first app (but it's already on the Android Market for more than a year ) and I just can't stop developing it. Mostly, I blame my users for that. You send me feature-requests, bug-reports, good feedback, bad feedback... even donations!
Currently there are two versions of SayMyName available at the Android Market. One for Cupcakes, and one for Donuts and beyond.
With the upcoming version of SayMyName, I want to merge those versions, fix old, very annoying bugs and add some often requested features.
Why I'm telling you that? Because I need even more feedback, more testers, more contributers D) and some guys who translate my app into various languages.
So, if you want to help me, please download the attached .apk and give me some feedback / requests / whatever comes to your mind. Just leave a reply here at xda or send me a mail. (tomtasche AT gmail)
Thank you very much
Tom
P.S.: If you want to try the old, buggy version of SayMyName, feel free to search the Android Market for "SayMyName Dessert".
edit:
I forgot to mention what this app is for.
Official market-description:
"Want to know who's calling you without looking at your phone? SayMyName reads out loud the name saved in your adressbook and tells you who's calling.
- reads SMS, GMail and K9-Mail too
- very customizable
- discreet mode
- Locale Plug-in
- open-source
- supports non-latin languages too
See website for changelog, etc."
edit:
Changelog:
- reads nicknames!
- fixes, fixes, fixes.
- much more
- mute gestures
- read number-/mail-type (custom labels supported too!)
- auto translate messages (enable "translate")
- improved widget
- fixes
- pause music during speech on phones with Android 2.2
- sk, cs and de translations by David K. (thanks! )
- supports people who can't find TTS Extended in Android Market / don't have access to Android Market
Planned features in near future:
- more translations (any volunteers?)
- bluetooth (maybe I found somebody who can help me! )
edit:
If you want to help translate, download this file and translate the text between the tags:
Code:
<string name="...">TRANSLATE THIS</string>
Return the translated file to me afterwards.
Thank you very much
Tom
PS: Please let me know if you want me to mention your name / mail-address / website.
Shall report back tomorrow. Used to love this app!

Thanks! Tell me if you miss something.
I just tried the app for SMS notifications, but it gets interrupted by the notification. I'd like the notification to come first, followed by the announce and then the message. As it is now half the announcement gets killed by the notification.
I tried setting both Reading break and speech delay to 5 (seconds?), but the announcement started immediately anyway.
The app also seems to open a TTS-channel on start, causing noticeable hiss for a couple of seconds.
And the locale-plug-in, is it a separate download? Couldn't see it in Tasker even if I force-stopped it.
Your app seems to perform all the functions I want from TTS-notifications, now I only have to wait for the engine to not sound like a broken record in my language.

Yup, that's the voice.... Froyo (CM6) on Nexus. Truth be told I don't really like the english voice either, it's just far too synthetic compared to some of the other TTS-engines out there:

Unfortunately I'm not responsible for the voice. It comes from Android, but the AT&T sample is very impressive!
I've uploaded another update at the first post, which fixes speech-delay.

edit:
By the way, you can change the voice in "Speech settings" (linked in SayMyName). Change the "Engine" to "Pico TTS" and you'll get a female voice.

Excellent.
A slightly more convoluted feature request: Do you think it would be possible to change the TTS-language based on which contact a text message comes from? Say for instance if the contacts had TTS=en_US or TTS=sv_SE or any other preferred language in the notes-section?
The reason for this request is of course that I receive messages in different languages depending on the contact, so if I just decide on a language half the time it'll sound even worse than necessary.

[Q] No youtube app on Belgian Transformer, some help?

Hi all,
I have a quite annoying issue with my Belgian Transformer.
There is no YouTube app (no widget either) on it! Apparently it is due to the stupid Belgian copyrights protection organisation, called SABAM.
When I search for it in the Market, I can't find it. When I click on a direct Market link to the app, I can find the phone version, but when I try to install it, the Market can't find it anymore.
I also tried a hint from someone, he said to search for the wigdet, and then the app would show up in the app drawer.
I installed the Youtube 2.1.6.apk (for phones) on it, and it works, but it does not have the nice Honeycomb interface.
Is it possible to exctract the application from an onther TF (rooted or unrooted) so I can install it on mine?
If yes, would someone be that nice?
Thanks!
I hope it's not against the rules for me to post this, but please delete it if it is.
This is the YouTubeTablet.apk extracted from the Prime_v1.2_US ROM (I just happened to have that one on my PC), it should work for you. If it's not what you want, head over to the development section, download one of the ROM's and extract the apk.

@I_machine,

Nice to know a fellow Belgian is using the TF
AFAIK there is are no separate firmware update for BE. Don't know how they will detect that your device is a SABAM'ed one. Did you upgrade to 3.1 already?
Or will it just filter Youtube out as soon as you set your location to BE?

Me too. No youtube app (Belgian TB) bought at Makro and installed Dutch.
Today on 3.2; notice that when I open a non-tablet app and the screen resizes, when I leave the app and go to the home screen, one third of the bottom screen keeps on 'flashing' and is unreadable until I open another app and then go back to the home screen.
I've uploaded the latest version of the youtube app here:

Sorry this one does not work on the tablet. This the one for Android 2.x
I think we need youtubetablet.apk and youtubetablet.odex.
This one worked for me:

LAST.FM FREE - Now removed from Market

Sure, this app allowed you to download songs for free... but it was still a cool interface & a nice quick way to load up a track(especially old hard-to-find ones). I just had the .apk installed last night but loaded a new rom today & then saw it was gone.
Sadly, this was an .apk I didnt keep a backup of on my pc otherwise i'd try installing it again now. Anyone else used it?
Was it the official Last.fm app? If that's the case, I'm still seeing it. Humm.

I followed your link to the market and it seems working fine for me but there are many disappointing comments about its use in my country (Greece) even if you are a premium user... The link is active though

Indeed... I can also view the market link so we can safely assume that the app itself, wasn't actually removed. Also, Greek users are very disappointed by it because one cannot listen to music from his phone even if he/she is a premium user, as dimnik83 stated... which is in fact strange. English, German and American users, seem to be enjoying the use of this app to its fullest but us Greeks... well that's a different story... sadly. That aside, Last.fm is still up and running on the market.

Sounds like the official version will be discontinued soon as well:

Apparently its not cost effective on Android but its fine on Xbox Live and Windows Phone 7. I find that kind of odd since Android has a lot higher user base than Windows Phone. But I bet Microsoft made a deal with them.

Offline Google Translate Working for You?

I got very excite when I saw the news for the offline translator working. So I installed it , and downloaded all the languages I know, but it still wants an internet connection. Like, it just says "Due to a network issue, our translation service could not be reached". I'm running 2.3.7, and don;t know what else it wants! Is it working for you?

If I read properly..., that's what the guy did, so your reply is useless.
- - -
My problem is that the offline files are not downloadable from China.
So I have to use a VPN and the one that I have let's me download only 100MB of data daily. If I remember properly, French and Chinese are about 150MB each and it would then take me more than 3 days to get them... That is is I don't reboot my phone meanwhile because doing so make the download failed and the partial file becomes unusable...
The app also keeps on trying to reconnect/resume the download constantly over my normal WiFi but can't so it uses my battery needlessly...
Long story short: anyone knows where the app stores those files?
Even better: anyone could be kind enough to share those 2 offline language packages (CH and FR) on-line somewhere?
I'd be very thankful for that.
---
Edit, I read here ( http://www.techinvestornews.com/Google/Google-Bloggers/offline-google-translate-for-android) that those ±150MB files are zipped and about 200MB once extracted onto the SD card. So it should be quite easy to locate them...
Dropbox anyone? Please pretty please
I can see in Google Translate that French is 200.42MB, but can't find Google translate within the phone. Tell me me where it is and I can upload the language pack.

OK well thanks for offering this; I really appreciate it but somehow, I've succeeded in downloading the French pkg today by basically doing the exact same thing as I did yesterday...: I've started the download with the VPN and when it stopped because I've reached the daily limit, GT kept on downloading the rest of the file on my normal wifi. It was a partial success though because when I added the Chinese pack, it then just sat there at "starting download" (pic 1) or at "waiting for Wi-Fi" (pic 2) even though I had full signal (and green as Google checked-in...)...
And to answer your question on the OP, yes it (eng <--> french offline translation) now works for me on 2.3.7 (cm7). Only thing is that (as expected) the 'read aloud' (or text-to-speech) option is not available offline.
As for the location of the files, please see pic 3 for details.
And btw, French was 150Mb to download and stored under the tmp folder until GT installed it to the "fr" directory.
Tomorrow, I will try the same process with the Chinese package again, hopefully I will have some luck opnce more... :fingers-crossed:
Thanks again for the offer.

Hi,
I also live in China and was able to download the offline Chinese and Japanese language packs without the use of a VPN. Keep trying!!
Best,
Jon
I jus twould like to close this thread by saying that somehow, the offline thing is working for me right now. No idea. That's software for you.

I have a also noticed this and don't understand why.
I have installed the English and Chinese offline language packs. They work fine as long as I have an Internet connection. However, when my Internet connection is down it complains and refuses to translate.
I double checked to see if the language packs where indeed on my phone and where also enabled in Google translation (and they where). It seems like the Google Translation app still needs an Internet connection available - perhaps not for the actual dictionaries but perhaps for other issues - and when it can't connect it refuses to translate.
So what is the big deal with offline language packs when you can't translate when you are really offline??

Help I have offline files but granulated refuses to translate offline for me too. Says OFFLINE. I confirmed I have the offline files.
it's still not perfect but you are missing a crucial detail
You also need to download the tts language pack it is in your settings/language and input then tts settings then download the language pack there as well. This then almost works perfectly. I'm on holiday in France and if you have done all the downloads of languages and want the converse function to work then you need to change the input language of the phone to language (French in my case). Couldn't understand my phone! But the converse function worked. Obviously not ideal.
I am currently in China. Their goverment is so "nice" to - at least currently - block the access to anything related to Google. Not even maps works. I am trying to use Google translate. The necessary offline packages for a couple of languages including Chinese are installed. As long, as my phone is offline, Google translate just works great. If I am online it just does not work at all. If I use a VPN connection, it tries to make an online translation, times out, then finally - after about 30s to 2min - it makes an offline translation.
So I thought, ok, lets just block internet access for Google translate. I installed DroidWall, blocked Google translate and tried to use it. The surprising message I get after this is:
Translation failed - Retry - No network - Offline package files may have been corrupted. Removing all packages & then re-downloading them may fix this issue.
The only true part of that message is the statement, that there is "No network" for this app. But the conclusion is completely nonsense. The offline packages are not corrupt and as soon as I allow internet access again, I get the same behaviour as mentioned above (incl. successful offline translations).
Any idea anyone?
Google Translate in China
Hello,
I am in China and offline google translate works fine for me. I recommend: 1) You delete and re-download the dictionaries, 2) You get a VPN.....droidvpn is free and it works well, 3) If you want your VPN to work better, download setdns and change your dns server.
Good luck.
Best,
Jon

I think that you did not read correctly. Offline translations work fine, if I am offline. Google translate does not work for me, if I am using WiFi or China mobile. It works too slow, if I use a VPN connection to my router at home in Germany, whereas any other internet-service works fine.
The error message about corrupted packages appear, if I am online (with or without VPN), but block internet access for Google Translate using DroidWall.
Google Translate
Hmmm.....don't know what to tell you about that. I only use offline google translate in China when wifi and data are turned off and it works fine for me....never tried blocking it with droidwall. Otherwise when I use droidvpn or my personal vpn online it works fine too.....

I just tried blocking GT with my firewall (AFWall+ ... I strongly suggest you to use that one instead Droidwall. It is almost the same but newer and more options and bugs fixed. Droidwall has long been abandoned....) and it does search for connection for a long time (because blocking it does not prevent the app to see that there is network available...) and then it translates offline. So no real problem for me here.
No problem on vpn either.
On this subject I suggest the real free (DroidVPN has a 100mb/day limit and the servers are often full) fqrouter2. But be aware that vpn uses more battery. If you have an older phone, you can also try shadowsocks but I do have slight issues with it....
So finally, I also suggest you to use the latest app version and delete and redownload offline packs.
If that doesn't solve it, then I suggest you find and try either the black or the clear (one I'm using) version of GT made by TBO (Team Blacked Out) sorry no time to give you a link atm.
If anything here helped, you know what button to press...
fqrouter2
Hello,
Fqrouter2 does not work for me....it keeps giving me a "failed to lauch" error. I do recommend that you change your dns server with an app like setdns (on your pc too!....use program called dnsjumper)....your VPN will work much better when you do.
Best,
Jon

Well, I'm glad to hear that you've fixed your issue with G Translate
Now, please learn how to thank people that try to help you (even when it doesn't resolve your problem). People do not have to use their time and energy try to help; pressing the "thank" button is really a simple matter of showing respect and gratitude no matter the outcome....
And @Jon: I've tried your suggestion about dns change and that realky didnt go well and messed up my phone (simple app to switch to Google dns with 1 click). I ended up having to restore a 4 days old nandroid backup... It was just by curiousity, because like I said, fqrouter2 works very well for my setup as it is. Sorry to hear that it doesn't for you...
Cheers,
/AL
+1 AFWall+
Thanks for everyone's efforts!

[APP][6.0] Beta Maniac -- Life of a beta tester

This app is for Beta Testers only
The Google Play app allows us to manage our beta programs but have you ever wanted to participate in a limited number beta program?
(The most common examples are WhatsApp, Facebook, Android Auto and LinkedIn, at least for my country, Italy)
Every time you have to go to Google Play and see if you can access the beta program.
A few years ago (even before the Google Play app had a section dedicated to the quick view of our beta programs in which we participate) I had developed an app, for private use, to overcome this problem, and after adding some small personalization and options I would also like to make it available to this community.
The app is now available on Google Play, contains ads and subscription (subscription remove ads and unlock the auto join feature).
People who bought the old "remove ads" in-app purchase is premium user for life now (no need to subscribe to get the new auto join feature, thanks for the support.
At the moment the app is available different languages, but if you want to participate in the translation you can download the xml file at the second post.
Let me know your feedbacks about it.

FAQ and Privacy
FAQ
Q- Why should I use this app instead of Beta Checker or Beta Lister or any other similar app?
A- The first one does not check anything, you have to manually go in Google Play and share the link with the app, which is pretty useless, once you are in Google Play you can directly see if there is a beta and can join or leave from Google Play itself.
The second (which I cannot find the link anymore, probably the dev just removed it from Google Play, at least in my Country) does lists from the installed apps the ones which have a beta version (using the dev cookie, or an alt account) but it is almost useless, because if a beta is available in US does not mean it is available in other countries. And you cannot take action anyways, you need to go in Google Play (app or web) to join the beta. Using the dev cookie means that the app is not aware of your joined betas too.
Q- I don t trust the Google form for sign-in, why don' t you use official Google Sign In API?
A- Google Sign in API generates a token for third party backends to auth the user. The problem is that Google Play does not have API for third party developers to auth users.
Q- Why there is no auto sign-in or Google sign-in?
A- Currently you are not signin-in to Beta Maniac, you are signin-in to Google, and the eventual token you get using those facilities is not spendible in Google Play. What the app does is the same thing you would do manually, no API used.
Q- I don t want to sign in then, what can I do?
A- Simply do not use the app.
Q- Why cannot sign-in even if my connection is good?
A- Check out if you are on a VPN or custom DNS network. If so disable it and login.
Q- Does the app collects any data?
A- The app collects anonymous data (phone model, android version, country) for analytics purpose and crash reports, handled by Google using Firebase.
Q- The app was completely free, why now there are ads and I have to pay to turn them off?
A- Because the most of users complained and rated one star for no real reason. You had it for free, the only thing you had to do was keep the app average rating high enough to be considered a good app, but you didn' t. You had even the chance to donate, only 30-35 people did (and they will not see any ads now).
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=82630837&postcount=314
Q- I bought the "remove ads" in-app purchase, do I need to subscribe?
A- Of course not, you are already a life time premium user, thanks for the support.

For people having issues with ad blockers: it looks like you'll have trouble only when using DNS-based ad blocking. I personally use AdGuard on my device, which by default uses a VPN with a custom DNS to filter the ads. I normally leave the DNS-based filtering disabled since it sometimes breaks some sites and in fact, by using only the VPN-based filtering I didn't experience any login issues on Beta-Maniac, even with AdGuard active...

If not already contributed, here's the french translated strings file.
If I may report that small issue :
Despite using XDA adfree version of your very welcomed app, I noticed it couldn't get past the post log-in screen (got No connection / Try again - with no avail') if device is connected with ad-blocking private DNS on Android 9+) or to a router set with ad-blocking DNS.
No biggy but took quite some time to figure out the reason.
You might want to change that or add a message to let users know their ad-blocker prevents the app from going further.
After initial set up though, it's working fine with or without DNS ad-blocking.
VPN usage was not an issue for me, only DNS level ad-blocking.
(Tested with v1)

I had but since a basic VPN connection didn't harm my attempt on my first device running Oreo, I had assumed it was a broad statement to cover possible issues but it seemed to be mostly related to the ads mechanism in place in your code.
Just wished to help by clarifying.
(IMO however, having to turn a VPN or a custom DNS setting off, even temporarily, should not be forced on any user for doing so given the privacy implications some might want to maintain)

Sorry this caused you such trouble. I just can't avoid using french correctly though.. (yeah we can be PITAs for many things ?, I know.) I mean, without the apostrophe, it's not proper french so hoping to see them in displayed text for french locales.

Oh, that. Well, sorry anyways : I used Solid Explorer to do that while commuting before even testing your app prior to doing so.
(Also, I don't know what that correct way of using them is in XML, is this its ASCII character that should be used ?)
I checked quickly without deleting app's data so don't know about initial setup text.
But there's a typo :
"Bêtas fermée uniquement" should be "Bêtas fermées uniquement"
There's also a setting title I imprecisely translated :
"Liste des filtres" should be "Filtrer la liste" to actually be meaningful.
Spotted the "system" choice related to the theme settings in the strings but can't yet see it in the app.
Finally, I spoke too soon as for the VPN/DNS issue :
It indeed prevents from entering any app's beta program page setting in the app but Scans can and will be performed normally.
I do reiterate my previous statement regarding having to disable either or both in order for your app to work. It's a radical setup change impacting all apps for just one to work normally..

fixed the strings. Anyway no, it s not an ascii problem, it s just the android requirement to put slashes before apostrophe. I use a normal network, so I didn t figured out this problem before today, I know that only by feedbacks. I ll upload the app with translation fixed
