This is a generic qi charger i got off ebay. It looks nearly identical to the Fast-Tech one, with the exception that it uses micro-usb rather than a power jack.
Recommendation: Do not buy. It does not work as advertised.

LG Nexus 4 Qi WIreless Charger Review
UPDATE:
I taped a piece of foil to the bottom of the pad and now the phone charges fine when it is positioned above the LEDs.
It stops charging at 98%

Hi, just wondering if you're satisfied with it now... I was about to get one today but then I saw your video on YouTube. I'm a little confused about the foil you mentioned... did you manage to get it to work without your case or in one particular spot without foil? Does it work fine now? Should I stay away from it anyway? Thanks!
Also the Ebay listing added how to align the phone (scroll to the bottom)... does this work for you?
the info you now see on the bottom of the auction was not present at the time of my purchase.
I just tried that position again and it does not work.
The foil was short lived and stopped being effective for some reason.
Do NOT buy this charger
Disappointing, I thought I'd found a great deal. Thanks!

your welcome. I figured it would only be right to share the experience.
Thanks for the warning, I almost ordered this one for the convenience of USB power. FYI, fasttech now sells the USB version, that is where I was going to buy it. Guess I need to quit being a cheap a** and just buy the WCP-700.
Its not that the charger does not work.. its just that the coil in the nexus 4 isint in the middle..... On the charger, there is a logo right? that is where the wireless coil is.. the nexus 4 coil is not in the middle of the phone.. it is on backside (obviously) .. but it is slightly to the bottom.. its on the bottom half of the phone.. so in order to charger the phone needs to be placed higher on the pad.. so that the coils are in line

In the video review he put the bottom of the phone more towards the middle a couple times and still got a red LED. I know that on fasttech the USB charger is only 700ma vs the wall version at 1a. Maybe the 1a will produce a little more power to work. Who knows, maybe just got a dud, that does happen in Electronics!

What's really strange is that when you look at product images of the LG charger the phone is off centre the opposite direction, ie it looks like the phone coil is above centre.
... . -. - ...- .. .- - .- .--. .- - .- .-.. -.-
I would have considered this, but not now I don't believe in the whole buy cheap, buy twice. You can buy cheap and get a good deal, but I have a feeling this just isn't one of them.
No. .the charger is good... There is another thread about the same charger from fasttech on the nexus 4 forums .... many users bought it and it works well...
Yes... The wireless charger outputs 700mA.. out of which some will be wasted becuase of induction .. in the end the phone receives around 600- 650mA as tested by someone... (same charger with the nexus4)... The wall charger gives 1.2A.. So the wall charger will be almost 2x the speed when charging the battery from dead.. but as it nears 80%.. it will trickle charge.. so there wont be much difference..
Only downside is that you need to watch the battery temp of the phone.. It is best to keep it under 40C...
I received mine and sure enough, even when it was recognized I got the red light. Before getting ready to send it back I tried it with the included cable in my car and it worked. The range sucks, but I think that's because of the nexus, not the charger. Also the usb port is cheap and flimsy, so touching the stiff cable will cause it to lose power. I'm requesting a replacement now.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
works for me...
My experience is that it works but is dependant on the charger/cable combination.
Mine worked ok out of the box but was not ideal as would only work in specific orientations. I bought a new power supply (portapow dual USB 2amp) as the one that came in the box used a UK adaptor which was annoying and bulky. with the new power supply and same cable the device now worked better in most orientation especially with the cover (cheap gel type case) off. I need to be a bit more precise about position with the cover on but it works ok.
I then attached a longer (1.5m) usb cable that I had lying around so that I could position the charger in a better place but with this cable I just got a red light/no charge no matter the orientation etc.
sounds like top quality power supply and cables (of short length) are needed to get the best from this charger?
in short though it might be worth a little extra spend to get one that is known to work fully with the device, properly reviewed rather than spend extra on bits and pieces?
I just bought the real **** when I got my N4 from the play store. Yes $60 is way too much, but its better to be safe than sorry and with generic products that save you half the price or whatever...your more than likely going to be sorry and not feel safe with a product that feels like junk (not sturdy). Just my two cents...
Tap, tap says the wicked Nexus 4
The review is not accurate
Thank you for the review, the reason that the red light is on during charging is simply becaue of insufficient current input. Remember the power requirment for this charger is 5v 2A input. According to my test, as long as your power supply stay above 1A output, you will have no problem at all, just will charge a little bit slower. but once I hooked up with a samsung charger that was rated at 700ma, the red light goes on after a beep. The problem is, most of the usb chargers in the market are overrated that's why you will get red light on with these inferior charger. I purchased mine from a seller on eBay called gadgetsalon who included a original HP Touchpad adapter with my purchase which is fully rated 2A output, I have been using mine for almost 2 months now never had a single problem ever with my Tmobile GS3. BTW, I charge my phone with a ballistic case on all the time.
Does it hybernate after completing the charge?

Hi Robert, I understand this charger may work correctly when used with a 2 amp power supply. Would you be able to tell me whether the charger will keep the phone charged if left on the pad for several days? Most chargers seem to charge the phone up and then just let it die, rather than topping it up every few hours. This has been a huge problem for me.
Thanks from Stepan
I had all the same problems, even when using the supplied charger. I plugged into my own USB adapter which I know gives a full 2 amps, and it charges. So it appears they skimped on the wall plugs. Mine says "Palm".

Blackberry micro use chargers are all over the place. do any of these work adequately with our phone? Do they supply enough amps/volts?
Sent from my HTC Desire using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
without having testet this, i'd assume any USB Charger with an output of 5 Volts and 500 mA can do the job. I am using the original Charger, the one from my Sony Ericsson X1 and also a Sanyo Mobile Booster (Portable Battery Charger). They all work well
Charger from the hd2 works fine too! its all becoming very standardised now
Yeah, it's just I heard that certain chargers don't appear to work very well, with some people reporting that their phone has run out of charge when going on long journeys whilst using the phone as satnav - so using cables which employ the correct ampage/voltage could be important.
The micro USB Blackberry charger works fine on my Desire

Got the link Dave?
i'm using the HTC original charger car charger from my Touch HD, it's 2 amp and charges the phone in no time. Needed to get a mini usb to micro usb adapter from ebay though.
The Blackberry ones seem to be 0.5 amps and take ages to charge.

Sorry, totally missed this. I just put 'usb charger 1a' into the search. The seller was 'arygroup'. It's not as quick as the one it comes with but it's fast enough!
The phone says it is charging from USB, whereas it doesn't with the proper charger. Not sure why yet...
I received my car holder with car charger a few days ago, it is labeled as a Moto.V8, and should output 1.5 mAh.
I don't know if it geniune Motorola charger or clone, always a surprise with eBay
Haven't tested it yet, all I hope is that it doesn't drain my phone while I'm using GPS navigation.
I've read some stories that certain chargers can charge, but when using GPS applications they will drain.
There are a couple of other posts about the same thing. Lets try and keep it to one thread. Better for updates etc
For those in the UK sainsburys are doing a 1amp car charger for 6 quid.
It includes two usb sockets, and is white.
When plugged into my desire, the phone reports that it is being charged by AC, and sat nav dosent drain the battery (in fact it still charges.)

From another thread, it appears that the phone will only draw 500 mA unless the USB data pins are shorted together. A few minutes with a soldering iron and the charger works as well as the HTC one.
If you have any old HTC (Diamond etc) 1A chargers lying around just buy one of the Mini to Micro USB Charger Adapter Converters for 99p including p+p from ebay and use them!
I have run some tests on 500mA chargers and would be interested in hearing how someone else has got on with one (instead of a 1A).
At first I was using a 5 Volts & 500 mA Blackberry charger with a cheap micro USB cable and getting very slow charging. At first I thought this was the 500mA rating but then I got a brand new official Nokia micro USB cable and it seems to charge at a comparable rate to my official charger. I'm at a bit of a loss to explain it other than perhaps the quality of the cable has a lot more effect on charging than I thought (I don't think the data connectors have been shorted on the Nokia cable, I can transfer data fine using it)

I can confirm this =P. But you DON'T need to buy a new usb cord, just use the cord that comes with the desire and plug it into the Touch diamond Charger
I had the Touch diamond and Im using the touch diamond charger for this phone cuz it LOOKS way better (when i plug it in, HTC lights up ), and it charges almost twice as fast (Difference is very noticeable)
I was manically driving around to find a car charger, and EVENTUALLY found one at a Vodacom shop(in South Africa). It was made by Body Glove, and it's a 360 rotating device, with a USB port on it. The Micro USB cable that came with it is retractable, but I haven't used it. I used the cable that came with my phone. Will test it later. I drove about 200 plus miles with it, and my charge was good after the trip. My phone is still less than a week old, so the battery charge hasn't quite gotten to where it should be. Cost me about R99 (About $12)
By the way, the Micro USB connector will supposedly be the only connector on phones by 2012. It has apparently been standardized, so that people will just get a phone, but that all chargers will work on all phones. Too much waste from old chargers they say.
I think my AC charger is giving problems... Its charging fine but the pins of charger seems displaced internally coz i have to press it hard and rotate the pins to start charging... That's quite a pain charging every time and can't touch mobile during that time as it disconnects...
Can anyone give me a link to Original HTC charger for Sensation in 220v in U.S?
I Don't want to fall into fakes or Replicas that take twice the time to charge... So please a genuine charger link...
Expanys us, Tmobile, Amazon. But the charger is just a generic HTC wall plug and a USB cord . I bought the wall piece from Ebay and the USB piece too.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App
you can use pretty much any wallplugs that support USB out. I've noticed that most of these chargers output at 5V and 1A so they shouldn't be a problem
I've bought a couple of cheap generic ones off Dealextreme for about $4 each so I could leave them at my girlfriend's and in my bag and they work well.
I got a genuine Samsung and it charges in just over 2 hrs from 0
becareful dazdeeuk, fast charge is usually bad for the health of the battery. Generally, I would recommend sticking with factory specs (usually 5v and 1A)
Most manufacturers have signed up to the universal charger agreement now so you can't go wrong with any decent brand micro-USB charger. I use a BlackBerry charger in my bedroom and car.
I tried one from Sony Ericsson... its 850mA and takes almost 4 hrs to charge my mobile.. and longer if I keep it busy...
Want a link to real genuine deal if anyone knows a link..
Has anybody seen a desk stand with quick charge 2.0?

Fosmon® HTC One M9 / Hima 2015 (DURA-FRO) Ultra Slim Flexible TPU Gel Case Cover - Fosmon Retail Packaging (Clear)
(sorry still under my 10 post thing, so couldn't post the link)
It has a little bit to spare as far as sitting in the holder goes. It works for me, I've had complements on it, although it *is* cheap, because it is clear it does not look cheap, it comes off easily and suits my purpose.
I simply use one of these with a QC2 charger plugged in. It is technically for the M8, but the M9 fits as well. It also has a removable insert to allow for a case as well. Search around, it was only $16 when I bought it.

The problem is that these docks have its own condensators etc. (lets say power supply) which normally don't let "pass" the voltage of QC2. QC2 goes up to 12 V, the normal docks allow only 5 V.
Are you sure you get QC2 voltage with this dock?

Why would they bother with that? It would cost more.
Out of curiosity I just cracked it open. Nothing but a wire connecting the female plug with the male plug. I haven't put it to the test lately but it would charge quicker than the standard charger when I was using it frequently.

Great to see, thanks a lot.
Maybe some do it to be sure that the phone gets the right voltage with a wrong or damaged power supply, or if the power supply is included there is more space in the dock. I don't know but had some that are only for 5 V (also stood at the power port).

I've seen more than a few questions arise about certain wireless chargers and restrictions, but don't worry. My wife has the Mophie wireless charging case and charging pad for the iPhone 7+ and the built wireless charging on the S8+ is compatible both with and without a case. So for anyone spending extra for a specific wireless charging package keep it simple it works!
It may not work with every FAST wireless charger... I have 6 that I used withe S7 Edge that worked great, but 4 of them do not work with the S8+ for no obvious reason....
link to the one you have....Also are you using your supplied cable?
I got the RooRoo (stupid name) on amazon for $21 and it's been working fine with my S8+. Got it for the S7E originally. Supports fast charge and doesn't have any trouble. Phones in a case and the charger is only tall enough to touch just below the camera.
Edit: I do both technically. If I need to use my phone or I am at work, I tend to just have a corded charger I use. Else wise I use the wireless stand.

I got 2 of the Elephas fast charge wireless stands for my S8+ and my wife's S8.. They don't work much at all, despite their positive reviews.. When using the adapter the came with the phones, they continue pause charging every second, until the phone gives up and says it's not compatible. If I plug them into a iphone adapter or a pc via usb, they charge but still randomly stop sometime through the night. Usually in the 80%'s.. Going to try different chargers..

Can just pick the phone up and use it then lay it back down and it'll stay topped up. Was thinking of the official Samsung one.......glad i didn't
I have no idea why one would spend 1,000€ on a device then skimp on a 40-50€ Samsung charger? Like buying a Merc' or BMW etc then using xxxx 40€ seat covers or floor mats.
With all the controversy regarding the subject of third party chargers be they wall or wireless for the small financial difference I always go for the Samsung branded accessories. Typically me though, not all the same are we?

Lol, I hear you. Now behave yourself lol, you can't be THAT skint to purchase the S8+ :highfive:
This is a tough debate. Numerous threads on XDA cover this point and so many owners have damaged their mobiles using third part chargers. At the very least take a very careful look at the specs on any third party charger and ensure they are identical to the charger that came in the box, even then there can be problems though? Its a gamble.
Please look after yourself and your mobile eh?

I'm thinking of getting this too. Does it charge the P7P well? Does the holder clamping the volume buttons affect anything? I assume they're not so tight they're triggering the buttons.

No they are not ....they are JUST below and yes I do seem to be getting 15w surprisingly enough...!

How do you release the phone on this one? I can see it says "touch" near the bottom but my concern is that that's near where you would swipe up to go home and you may accidentally touch that part and release the phone when you don't want to.

I get between 7.5 and 10W. Occasionally the volume goes to 0 because the arm hits the button. I just ordered this one as a replacement, KKM Wireless Car Charger, 15W Qi Fast Charging Auto-Clamping Wireless Car Charger Mount, Air Vent Dashboard Car Phone Holder Compatible with iPhone 14 Pro/14 Pro Max/14/14 Plus/13/12/11/X/XS Max https://a.co/d/io5NYMU

Thanks for the feedback. The appeal of the one you had was that it locked on to the air vent.

I bought the KKM charger but only get between 7 and 9 Watts of charging. I tried the included cable and cig lighter adapter (crazy blue lites on it) and a few other combos. All gave me the same result. I will keep using my QC3.0 cig lighter adapter without the crazy blue lites and LED voltage indicator.
I wonder how you get 15W. Are you using a case? I have the caseology case which is pretty thin.
I am happy that my volume buttons are no longer completely covered. It was on sale for $23 on Amazon, so I will be keeping it.
EDIT: The KKM charger is going back to Amazon. Two issues for me. I still use a USB-c wired headset when making phone call. The bottom lip blocks the USB-c port. Second, the touch center to open the arms is not reliable. I was futzing with all afternoon. I am back to using this charger, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09N6Y23WL/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1

So far it has worked great for me...will see how long it will last for 29$
I bought the Iottie auto sense charger, not fast 10 watt, but when I take a drive it will be a long one.
The auto sense makes it fun.

Can you please give us an update on how it works?
I am especially interested in if it interferes with any of the buttons and what kind of wireless charging rate that you get.
Thanks
PS: I see the price for this on eBay is $60 to $80 dollars! That is a high price. And it uses a proprietary cable vs. USB-c.

so after using the huawei car charger for a couple weeks, i am very happy with it. it fast charges and it doesnt disconnect all the time. well at least i havent noticed it disconnecting which is more than i can say for all the other ones ive tried. i approve.
I did get it from ebay though because of that lovely huawei ban #murica, but it's worth it. i lucked out and found a shipper in the US so it didnt take long to arrive but while remembering the model number i found a couple newegg listings now. just one thing to keep in mind that the manuals will be in chinese but that shouldnt be a problem. no need for the manual. another side note, if you do get it...you do not need the usb c to go into the charger and the cigarette lighter. you only need to plug the cigarette lighter into the car and plug it's cable into the charger. you can use the extra usb c port on the cigarette lighter for anything else.
