HELP!!! I Think? - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just flashed redemption ROM coming from Tundra ROM and I did a factory wipe, then flashed redemption, and then I was gna wipe cache/dalvick before rebooting. Everything seemed to go OK and on the last step I pressed next and the button glowed like it allowed me to select it but nothing happened? It says at the bottom of screen to reboot device but idk if I shld do this manually or if I'm froze up or what? I'm afraid to touch anything. I assumed after hitting next it would have taken me back to the twrp recovery home screen to wipe cache and reboot, but it did nothing. Can anyone help me? Is my tablet froze or can I somehow get back to recovery home and reboot???

you haven't tried anything till now?... it says there to reboot.... maybe it didn't get you back to twrp menu but i think it's safe to reboot your device now... the installation of the rom was finished safely.... the problem was with the aroma installer... try rebooting now...

Yeah I got brave and rebooted and all worked out but I just realized there's a newer version of the ROM so I'm downloading it now and going to install that one but thank you for responding. Everything is OK now so if anyone needs to delete or close this thread feel free. My apologies. Thank you again.

Can't boot?

So I just flashed my new Inspire and that went well. I downloaded ROM Manager and used it to download CM7 and it brought up an install option after the download finished. There were 3 boxes that said "backup rom", "clear data and cache", and "clear dalvik cache". Dalvik was the only box checked so I assumed that was how it was supposed to be, so I hit instal.
It attempts to install but it gets stuck on the screen where the robot skates into the scene and an arrow circles him. I believe it's called bootlooping?
I booted into recovery and attempted to clear data cache and then reinstall CM7.. Rebooted and still stuck in blootloop.
I think the issue is that I didn't disable fastboot >.<', a pretty dumb mistake to make. I've read that if one can go to settings and disable fast boot it may fix the issue.. but uh, I can't start my phone.. So how do I disable it ?

The issue is that you used rom manager and didn't wipe the phone correctly. Get in recovery, wipe, and re flash it and you should be fine. Fast boot isn't the problem as it is a sense only feature and won't matter once you've changed roms.

I think the issue is that you didn't wipe and have no backup. I have not disable fastboot since my first custom rom. You can still get to hboot and recovery, it just takes a few more key presses.
Boot into fast boot( volume down+ power). Select hboot, this will start the scan of the sd card. As long as you don't have a file with a name it recognizes (such as PD98IMG.zip), it will take you to the hboot menu. Use the volume rocker to scroll down to recovery. Perform a factory data reset, clear cache, navigate to advanced an clear salvo cache. Go back to the first menu and choose install zip from sd card. Choose select zip from sd card and navigate to clockwormod then download. Select your rom and install it. The first boot can take awhile but you seem like you'll be able to tell if you are still bootlooped. Hope this helps and good luck.
Edited due to faulty memory.

[Q] Stuck at CM10 boot screen. Can't recover.

Hi there, this evening I was on the forums, looking for an easy way to root my S3. I followed the steps exactly, and got it rooted. I then went to flash Cyanogen mod 10. I booted into recovery, wiped the cache, and installed the .zip and the gapps.zip. Well I rebooted it from CWM, and it just sits at the boot screen. I've turned it off and tried booting into recovery by holding both volume buttons and the power button, but it just boots up normally back to the CM10 screen. So, I cant seem to get it into recovery, or anything. Please lend me your knowledge.
Did you unlock the bootloader?

Recovery is volume up, power, and home. Just boot your phone up by holding all 3.
p.s. - if all you did was wipe cache before going from Stock (ICS) to CM10 (JB) - bad idea. You should always wipe cache, data and dalvik as well if you're going from ICS to JB or vice versa.
You should also format the system when changing base versions (4.0 to 4.1). Especially on aosp roms, and definitely when returning to tw. Most roms incorporate this, but it is evident that it does not always clean it out fully all the time. True clean install is factory data reset/cache/dalvik/format system.

I did unlock the boot loader. I used the EZ Unlock. But it said that status was unknown. I clicked unlock though and it said it unlocked the boot loader. And there was only one option when I was in CWM, to wipe the cache (it might have been the data I can't quite remember) but either way there were no choices to wipe the data, cache, and dalvik. I tried holding the power, volume down, and home. It said it was downloading, but I let it sit overnight and it never did anything.

Recovery is volume UP, power, and home. Downloading is down. Download mode is when you connect it to your computer to flash firmware via ODIN. CWM definitely has options to wipe data and cache on the main area, with wiping dalvik as an option in advanced options.
I'm very sorry everyone. I took it to my brother and he fixed it for me. Thank you for being so helpful though I just booted to recovery and wiped the cache, dalvik and data. Then it booted up good. I wish I was good with technology

Well, I had been pressing the wrong buttons when trying to boot into recovery *facepalm*. Also, I was too dumb to look in the advanced options for the other options, like wiping the cache, data, Dalvik, etc. Pretty much me just being a noob at all that is technology haha

nexus 5 stuck booting

I received my nexus 5 today. Unlocked the bootloader. Tried to install twrp. Gave up and decided to put it back to stock using multitool kit. Toolkit showed as every thing completed successfully but the phone doesn't get past the nexus boot screen. I can boot into the bootloader but that's it. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

Same happened to me after unlocking the bootloader. Here's what you need to do.
Boot into the bootloader and enter recovery.
Press and hold power and quickly press volume up, that will open the menu.
Wipe data/factory reset.
The phone will reboot and you should be good to go.

Press and hold Power + Volume Up + Volume Down all at the same time. It will power down the device (it sometimes takes a while, so keep holding down the buttons for at least 10 seconds). Then Power + Volume Down to boot into recovery.

You have the stock recovery on your phone, not team win. You say you've done a factory reset in the recovery? Try that again first. If that doesn't work then flash the factory image.

You should explain how the problem happened. Was it by itself? Which Rom are you using?
You can flash a Rom or use this link they posted above http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...-to-flash-factory-image-t2513701/post47156064 to flash Factory images doing method 1. Report back.

Stuck at Boot
Hi guys,

Looping on Teamwin screen
Hi! I don't know what to do anymore. I rooted my Nexus 5 and I install Lollipop. I don't remember what I did now my device loop on the Teamwin screen. I can go to the fastboot mode ( Power + volume down) and that's it. I can not go in the recovery mode because it's bringing me back to the teamwin screen and keep looping. Can you help me?

stuck in loop, possibly a different kind of loop

I was trying to fix my girlfriends nexus 5 that was doing the restart loop after an update. Everything seemed to go fine. Unlocked the bootloader, etc. Flashed the newest rom (6.0.1 (MMB29S) ce1d670f61061c3902f3997510ea55d7 6bfcdfa4f4840898e5d76fa044f5e6a0f71343bf) and then something obviously went wrong (not quite sure, dont think i touched anything) and it's now stuck in a different kind of loop that only loops while it's plugged in. Ive uploaded a video to youtube, but since im a new user i cant actually link it properly yet. Hopefully this wont annoy any mods, I promise it's not spam. youtube . be / yNSoiTPnGZw
Is there any way to get it to stay on for more than a couple seconds to retry the flashing?
Any help is appreciated.

First i followed the guide here on xda to unlock the bootloader(guide-nexus-5-how-to-unlock-bootloader-t2507905), installed twrp, which went fine. Then i realized that i couldnt (or didnt realize how to via command line) to copy the stock rom and install it via twrp, so then i followed this guide here on xda (tutorial-how-to-flash-factory-image-t2513701) with the factory img (6.01 hammerhead), got to this point in the guide: ★After everything finished, select "Recovery" using the volume buttons. then it stalled out, turned off and now just cycles on and offf through the google logo with the lock picture or if i hold down the volume button it will go into the bootloader briefly then restart, rinse repeat.

Have u tried messing with the power button, there are a lot of issues on the nexus 5 with the power button causing loops, simply from getting stuck, try playing with the power button a little and see of that helps, it might just need to be replaced

in the end fastboot, since i coulndt see how i could copy the img over to install via twrp
im pretty sure the button is fine, since it was cycling from the ota update install, then was working fine unlocking the bootloader, but after the flash, it crapped the bed.
Different problem
I had a problem where the google logo keeps on booting up with a slight vibration. This started to happen when my was dropped.I initially thought that was a software issue and thought of installing new ROM's but eventually my device was not detected :crying:
So i took it to repair shop near my house and they said it would cost 2500
I did some google research and found the reason was due to the power button being stucked during the fall.I got that repaired and my device is good to go

ok, took it into a shop, got the power button fixed. It must have been on the way out because literally one minute it worked and the second it didnt. now i think ive got it narrowed down. it's saying it's unable to mount /persist. ive tried the various fixes:
e2fsck/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/persist
and
make_ext4fs/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/persist
but all i get is a not found error. not sure what to do from here on.
success!! i ended up stumbling on a bit how to restore the persist partition i didnt try. got a custom rom installs and everything works. thanks to everyone who tried to help!!
stuck in bootloop while flashing cataclysm rom
i tried to flash cataclysm rom in my n5..i unlock bootloader, flash custom recovery using TWRP and flash cataclysm rom following the instructions in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...s-5-how-to-unlock-bootloader-t2507905...after that it was stuck in bootloop...i tried to open recovery but it wont open anymore it will only go back to loop....how can open the recovery? is it safe to flash CWM recovery?..tnx in advance..
When it was stuck in the loop, I had to hold vol up and down with the power button (wait a few secs until it was completely off) then reboot holding down + power till it opened the bootloader. if that doesnt work, try reflashing the bootloader via fastboot. I only found out i couldnt mount the persist partition by looking at the terminal window in twrp after trying to install a rom which kept it in the boot loop. I then used the cmd: make_ext4fs /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/persist to rebuild it.

Phone loading into recovery menu after factory reset?

Hey, I rooted my S6 edge (I believe just using the CF autoroot ROM, if my terminology is correct, I'm not too well versed here) and installed a custom recovery menu (TWRP 3.0) a few months ago and everything was working fine.
Today I decided that I wanted to wipe my phone, and I quickly googled to see if a factory reset from the settings app would play well with a rooted phone, and it said it would, it lied. Now my phone is rebooting only into the TWRP menu. I don't know what to do to fix it.
I've tried reloading the back up I made when I installed TWRP, it restores successfully but when rebooting it crashes. I have to reboot using Power+VolDown+Home. I also tried to just reinstall the ROM (assuming that going to Reboot - Download would be the same as using the stock recovery menu) but it also crashes so I don't think ODIN can detect it, the phone does however get recognised by my computer
I'm completely lost on what to do now, as I'm rather new to this, so any help would be appreciated!

Thank you both for replying. I couldn't get it too turn off, however I did manage to install a custom ROM through TWRP itself. I think I've just installed TWRP wrong, so thats why it was crashing, so I'll update and reinstall when I'm next at home to see if that stops it crashing. Everything seems to be working now though, so thanks!
