Just a heads up. I was in the process of flashing a new rom and used goomanager to update my recovery. It had me flash twrp 2.4.0. It was a successful flash. I then rebooted into recovery, did my normal wipes, including system, and when I went to install, when I hit external sd, it bounced right back to internal. I tried to access my sd card, and it showed it was empty. I had to odin back and start over.

I experienced the exact same thing. So after you flashed back via odin, did that fix the missing external sd issue in TWRP 2.4? For now, I just flashed the previous version of TWRP. I was then able to see my external sd again.

What size is you ext SD card? TWRP has been known to have trouble recognizing cards over 16GB. I have a 16GB ext sdcard and the latest TWRP and Ive never had trouble flashing from external.
Not using an sdcard here, but all has been fine for me this far.

I also used an older version of TWRP. I wasn't going to try 2.4 again and have to start over.

I have a 32GB SD card. I had no issues with version 2.2 and the 2.3 versions. It was just when I had to use the 2.4 that it didn't work.
I'm using a 64gb with no issues

Hmm. Maybe they broke something when they added exFAT support? What formatting is your card btw?

I tried to do a search on this but found nothing, and I'm also apologizing ahead of time if I'm posting in the wrong section.
I am trying to get my LG G2x to a stock ROM using this guide: (can't post link since it's my first post, but it's "how to unroot the tmobile g2x" at the unlocker.
I was able to follow the steps and installed clockworkmod on the phone (v4.0.1.5). I am however having problem on step 6. When I do the the backup on clockworkmod (CWM), it automatically is doing the backup on the phone's internal memory, and not the sd card.
I tried to mount the phone with the PC and cut and paste the folder to the SD card, thinking CWM would pick it up after a reboot of the phone. However, this is not the case. I tried to find the SD card by trying to do "install zip from SDcard" in CWM, but there is only a DCIM folder in the _ExternalSD folder, and nothing else. No matter what I do, the backup is always saving to the internal memory, and not the SD card. If I leave the backup on the phone's memory, it is showing up under recovery in CWM, but I'm guessing it's not possible to flash the phone while it's running from the internal memory.
I formatted the card at least 3 times, and even tried another card just to be sure, but no luck still.
Am I doing something wrong? Do I have to do something to mount the card or unmount the phone memory? If anyone could please help. I have to send in my phone for warranty in a few days, and I desperately need to get it back to stock. Thanks.

Worked like a charm. I guess I had flashed the internal and SD option for nvflash, and that's what was messing up. 5.0.2.7 allows you to save only to SD card, so it worked perfectly. Thank you so much!

Latest also allows you to flash from internal/external.
Just unlocked using EZ. I'm running cwm 6.0.1.0 and the lk_aosp_jb_beta-v0.5 kernel. I am coming from stock rom I wiped data/cache/dalvik. I reboot come to the CMX cyanogenmod 10 boot animation screen and it just sits there with the screen flashing every few seconds.
I'm not sure what I've done wrong or what is going on. I'm using the 20120817-UNOFFICIAL cm10 rom. Id also like to note upon backing up roms I've been getting "Unable to find mounted volume /sdcard" "Error finding an appropriate backup handler" I try mounting the internal sdcard in cwm but it doesn't do anything, I can mount and unmount everything else. Please help me out?
Edit: I'm going to flash beans8 so I can check my external sdcard is formatted in FAT32
ReEdit: Still no luck. Any advice?
I think your best bet is to copy everything off of your sdCard and reformat it (Fat32 of course). Are you running the on-kexec CWM also?

I was using the CWM 6.0.1 that was posted a few days ago for the kexec stuff. I was going to update to the latest official cmw but have not as of yet. I used EZ to flash the CWM I have now so I don't really know?

I had ODIN back to stock and then ran adam's CASUAL to root and unlock
I took all the info off my SD card last night formatted both through CWM and will give this another go with the new nightly build today. It was strange, with my external SD card mounted in the phone last night plugged into USB on my PC it listed both the internal and external as General hierarchy File systems. But when I pulled out the microSD and put it into my card slot adapter it showed it as a FAT32 card. I'm puzzled but either way I reformatted it to FAT32 and popped it back in the phone. Then I formatted the internal via CWM. Like I said I'll try it again in a few after I make some backups and titanium my stuff.
Just tried again. Still stuck on the boot animation screen. Everything is as it should be according to everything I've read.
EDIT: Finally got it. I flashed liquid and then flashed the new nightly over that after clearing data/cache/dalvik.
I've installed CWM from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671598 and then from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1855686 on my TF101 and neither one can see the microSD card to back up the data
Am I doing something wrong?

Change to TWRP, works so much better and can use the internal or external storage for your backup. Search the forums for the how-to.
Just tried it, from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1818452
No dice, can't select "external sd card" and can't mount it...
I will look up the TWRP install and link it to you. I did an app install to flash it. I just gotta remember how I did it. I didn't have my PC with me when I went from the HD rom to CM10 and I couldn't mount my SD card with CWM at all. I remember trolling these forums to find the TWRP install. I have 24 hour duty, so i will dig for it.
*EDIT*
Can you not boot into the OS? or are you stuck in CWM?

I can boot into the OS just fine and I'm not stuck in CWM. What I meant in my previous reply was that I installed TWRP via GooManager but after rebooting into it, it doesn't see my microsd card, just like CWM...
The booted OS (original, rooted) does see the card and it's empty

I had issues with the last CWM release so I decided to try TWRP. I use Rom toolbox Pro to get into recovery and wiped all to flash a new rom. Problem arose when I went into" Install" program of TWRP, I could not find my SD files. I change from root to SD card and only saw twrp, cwm and upper level. I tried many ways , but could not get to the files in my SD card. Any help would be appreciated...
Check in /data/media
If your stuff isn't there its gone. If you don't have any ROM zips and you have already wiped system you will need to setup and use ADB to push one.

I tried an earlier version of TWRP and my SD card popped up fine in the Install section. Maybe it's me.... but I dunno the latest versions of recoveries CWM and Twrp have had bad sections....
So a bunch of stuff has collided in a terrible manner and I am now left with this scenario.
I can get into recovery
I think my SD card is shot, because I tried to install two different ROM via the Ext_SD card and it gave me errors.
I'm Stuck.
What can I do? Can I still install ROM/GAPPS via ADB while in recovery? If so how?

revert to stock rom through odin and before that format your sd card through a card reader in pc in fat32 format and then flash stock rom
if you haven't tried swapping i don't think your card is dead
