Use one of the update files from this post, if you have changed any files since you rooted you will have to probably restore those files first, if you are completely stock then just flash through CWM. Cheers.

Yes, you can update with root as long as you have stock recovery- did you really need to start ANOTHER thread asking this question though? It has been answered by me at least ten times since the update hit my tab at 6 am (that's 5 hours ago).

Hello Everyone,
I just received a notification that a new software update is available for my HTC Chacha here in India: 1.57.720.3
I am currently on 1.57.720.1 and have unlocked and rooted the device (no custom rom installed)
I have a question:
If I update to this version, will I have to root my phone again? If not, then what is the benefit to update to this version??
Should I update?? I don`t want to lose my root ability.
Don't update, you will have to re root. If I were you I would get cm7 or cm9 they run very well and are much better than the stock ROM

Tried what?
Those listed there on htcdev are NOT ROMs. Those are kernels. You download those and then get the android source code from google, then build android for yourself using those kernels. Which should be for ICS but it has been discussed in the dev section and they seem to be for GB.
Further more, I have compared the 4.0 India and the 2.3 India and only 3 GPIO files have been modified. So it's GB kernel with 4 more lines of code.
So Alex C.
1. this is not ICS?
2. Will i get it stable on my chacha!!

Hi Guys,
I am updating my SGR for the first time, I had some queries, so if some one would answer, I would be really thankful.
Official ICS update is not for my country, so how should I take backup so that I don't lose my warranty.
Also which version of ICS is better, Nordic one or Austria or anyother country?
Also can you please help me with how to update like which software to use to install ICS, like someone was saying odin and others?
Thanks, Your help will be greatly appreciated

Buddy, A Very Warm Welcome to our Forum. For your queries Here is the answers:
1) Official ICS update is not for my country, so how should I take backup so that I don't lose my warranty.
A: ICS is announced to world by Samsung, so flash this wont loose any warranty but yes, rooting may be.
So, If you would flash Official ICS from Sammobile then no need to worry
2) Also can you please help me with how to update like which software to use to install ICS, like someone was saying odin and others?
A: you can install it using ODIN 3.07V - here is the procedure: Click Here for everything you need
3) Also which version of ICS is better, Nordic one or Austria or anyother country?
Approx, all versions are same except bloatwares providing by them. Few might be extra features then flash the latest one.
In the last, We have Q/A thread it doesn't mean every 2nd thread would be asking HOW to or From Where I can flash ICS.
Use Search option in thread. Coz every question you have asked, already been resolved earlier. There need to search only. Lil bit time taken, but good for our forum.
Thanks Kataria and Nilesh, So if I just update the firmware, I wont be losing any warranty.

Better Take CWM backup before updating to ICS, So if you have problem then you can revert back to GB easily.....

Yes...
mj is right...
there are cases when you downgrade..you tend to stuck on boot loop or on Samsung screen..
so the best way to downgrade is simply restore your cwm backup and then reflash the stock firmware..
Thanks MJ and Vipul

Flash CWM first and take backup, Root is not required for it....
Download any version of CWM from the below link and flash it using ODIN.

Thanks for your reply.
Before that I would rather mention, I have rebooted into Download mode and found the following statement:-
[ODIN3]
PRODUCT : GT-I8262
VERSION : I8262XXBNH1
HW REV : 8
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD : NO
CURRENT BINARY : SAMSUNG OFFICIAL
SYSTEM STATUS : CUSTOM
I have few questions.
Q1 : Is "Triangle Away" perfectly compatible with Samsung Galaxy Core Duos (GT-I8262)?
Q2 : After seeing the aforementioned statement, should I be using using "Triangle Away"?
Sorry to say but I am all new in these things, so please help me with your extra regards.
Thank you! You are making me feel better.

Hello
I was wondering if the Roms available on SamMobile were really safe and clean? Given they're not working FOR Samsung, where do they get those?
I'm wondering because I noticed there was a link that came with my phone originally that wasn't there when I restored a ROM I took from SamMobile.
Thank you!

I flashed many devices with odin and firmware downloaded from SamMobile.com and i never had any problems with it. The provided firmwares are not modified and seem to be 100% official versions.
No need to worry about sammobile as it is safe and clean.
It is all in one resource for Samsung stock roms. I used so many roms for different models from there and never faced any issues.
Can you please describe which link you got additional ??

Nothing important really but there was a link to my carrier's mobile site and SamMobile listed the ROM with the name of my carrier. So I thought it had been modified. But maybe it's just because it's the same version as the one my carrier offers but doesn't come FROM my carrier?

No it's not official, I read somewhere they were named Samsung Firmware before they had to change to Sam Firmware at Samsung's request (before they were named SamMobile). I can't find where I read this though.

Alright thanks everyone!
Not official, but safe. They make their money by subscription services for "premium" download privileges. Maybe ads too, but I use adblock, so I wouldn't see them.
Yes me too. But I do wonder where they get all those ROM since Samsung doesn't give the out.

Sammobile updates Samsung Galaxy Note 3 N9005 LTE
Hello,
Next newbie here
Could somebody senior please help me? I am wondering about official updates from Samsung for ROMs downloaded from sammobile, are they possible?
I've just installed Kitkat 4.4.2 on my beloved Note 3 after few days of using Darkera's Note 7 ROM when I'm tapping on "Update" in "Software Update" menu I get "Processing failed" message. Overall phone's responsiveness isn't that great, that's why I wanted to see if update is available.
Will appreciate any answers

You can't do stock updates on rooted devices with custom ROMs and custom recovery.
You have to remove root, you also need to have an UNMODIFIED system partition and you need stock recovery.
If you're using a custom ROM(your note 7 ROM is a ported stock custom ROM) then that means you are rooted and probably have custom recovery which means you need to remove root and undo any system modifications that were done in the custom ROM(including any special themes and Xposed) then flash stock recovery instead of custom recovery.
Then you might be able to do the updates but the system will be looking for your device to have straight stock with no modification, if there is any modification left behind then the update won't work.

Hi!
Thank you for your message.
Here is the list of things I did to my poor note 3 :
- rooted
- installed Darkera's note 7 rom, custom recovery and kernel downloaded also from Darkera
- unrooted with supersu
- using Odin3 I installed kitkat 4.4.2 which I downloaded from sammobile (I was told this process gonna whipe away everything - custom rom, custom recovery and kernel)
- downloaded supersu to make sure root is gone
Because of sammobile's server maintenance happening this weekend I used kitkat file I downloaded from sammobile quite some time ago (N9005XXUEND3_N9005XEOEND2_XEO for Poland) and during flashing everything went ok. But now when I go to 'settings' and 'about device' imei, modem version, baseband version are unknown and when I try to hit 'update' I get "processing failed' message. Oh, and I'm also experiencing random reboots. I'm not sure if all this is a normal thing or perhaps I did something wrong.
I hope I didn't bore you to sleep
